Really ironic how your weak foot is really the one you use the most, the standing leg is really important and I learned this pretty early when I realized I can balace better on my weak foot than my strong foot. We really underestimate how much work our supporting foot is doing.

the bit about where to place your standing leg when passing is absolutely true. i was practicing my lefties a while back and noticed that they always went too far to the right, so i tried breaking down my usual shot and mirroring it, and the one thing i was missing was that my standing leg was too far back. sometimes you just don't realize how important every bit of your body is- not just your strong foot.

Yeah ive come to realise that the rest of the things im doing with the weak foot are mostly right when it comes to shooting and passing, but its always the right leg planting where it should. Gonna practice that a lot more.

I'm naturally right footed but have always loved the finesse of the left leg, and so I spent a year training my left leg and now there is almost no difference with both feet.
I play on the flanks so depending on which wing I'm put in, I use the preferred foot.
It confuses defenders and always leaves me with options. Being ambidextrous in my opinion is one of the best skills to have in football and I do not regret it

being able to use both feet is incredibly powerful on wings the ability to cut inside or flank and cross is something I need to practice

Here we go! Already know this will be a banger! 🔥 A thing I’ve done to improve my weak foot is try to go through whole training sessions only using that foot, and that definitely helped a lot and then further on it just keeps getting better by itself and you don’t have to focus as much 👌

Usually a right foot but I am at the point where my left foot is usually just as dependable, only in some shooting situations less. What helped me from a young age is basically what you said but also the will to use it. I used to take a couple of friendly games, or even with friends and just play with my weak foot as it would've been my dominant, and my dominant would just support but not do the heavily lifting in shooting/dribbling/leading the ball etc. That way you get the most practice and the best feel from my experience to use your weak foot.
Nowadays I just use whatever foot is better suited for the particular situation I am in. Just takes some practice, makes me wonder why not more professionals do it

hey a little tip that worked for me: some reason i would just random do small taps between my left foot and right foot while walking, and over time i developed it and suddenly after a while i noticed a difference in my skills with my weak foot and turned it into a monster (well only a bit for passing but rubbish at finishing with it)

2:30 jump on strong foot across line 30secs x 3
2:37 do the same but with weak foot tap the ball 7x3
2:40 with weak foot shift the ball forward and backwards
2:43 with weak foot shift the ball side to side
4:00 Pass with weak foot ensuring that strong foot is no more than a foot away to the side of the ball 5x3

My weak foot is so good but I'm watching this to make it perfect. Can shoot with my right and shoot with my left (weak foot) and cross as well. I will tell you one important thing for perfecting your weak foot. Your ball control becomes better massively. You're able to get out of tricky situations and not be predictable to the defenders. Improve your weak foot that people start asking you what's your strong foot

As someone who played an entire season as an 8 year old with his weak foot as a challenge with a friend, improved on that later on and now is considered to be completely two-footed up to the decision which foot to take for a penalty, I can add some (even disappointing) insights:
    1) In a right-foot-dominated football world, you will be seen as a left-footed, because you will play more often on those position ("you play on the right, so you can cut in and shoot" or "we need crosses, now you play Leftback" or "our corners should be inswings, so you take them from the right" e.g.)
    2) The main advantage is in tight spaces, where you basically skip a step. Of course this means you are better at dribbling, but not on high pace dribbling.
    3) In defending it comes in handy, if you can slide with both sides and block shots with both feet. So it's not just on the ball.
    4) Playing on the wing is also especially fun, when the defender does not know if you go along the side and cross, cut in and cross or cut in and shoot/pass back. You can see this in a player like Joao Cancelo. Although he is right-footed he is very hard to predict, when he has the ball near the box.
    5) You can trick the opponents at a freekick when you imitate a run-up to the ball with one foot and shoot with the other. I'm not a good freekick taker (see 6), but scored multiple times doing this, when the keeper just placed the wall completely wrong. Make sure to let your team mates know, if you cross a freekick and if you shoot, stand there alone!
    6) Consider that you will lack depth in your development when you are young. I experienced hard drawbacks, when other kids could kick 40m with their right and 10m with their left, while I could do 20m with both, which is not appreciated that much.
So, in conclusion, today it helps out a lot being totally balanced and it adds a welcoming flexibility, but if you aim for the highest skill and performance on your position, a different distribution than 50/50 between the feet should work way better.

I've been studying Messi's drive a lot recently and realised that he drives or cuts back from right to go left A LOT because he's a lefty. The benefit is the right side of his body shields the ball. What if you practiced from the day you started training at 5 years old to use both feet to drive the ball?! My son and I are both ambidextrous, but it still takes a lot of effort. We practice everything the same on our weak side. It's a huge benefit.

Its so smart to get confident on the standing leg. Then just using your weak foot to dribble, pass and shoot will improve quality, but yea the fundamentals are so smart to focus on.

The moment you think about a weaker foot it actuall becomes a weak foot if it feels right it probably is sometimes it just feels better to hit it with the left most of the time right
Just follow through with your instincts
    Set pieces excluded though

Every drill, every practice I've worked on my weak foot since I was 9 years old... it is a STRONG foot.

There is no secret you just practice what you do with your strong foot. You put in the work and you get the results.

Thank you for this tutorial! I would also like to share a tip I found really useful to me. When I strike the ball with my strong foot (my left foot) I notice that my right arm is raised up in order to distribute the balance of my body. Having a strong balance would mean you can put more power and accuracy into your shot. Then when I strike the ball with my right foot at first I noticed that my hands weren't doing anything because it feels unnatural. After mimicking my strong foot technique I started raising my left arm and it surely helped.
I really liked how you started with analysing your strong foot movements first and then broke them down to condition and develop the weak foot. Great video!

That’s brilliant! I had actually included the arms in the first draft, but the video was too complicated and long, so decided to focus on just the feet. But you’re right, the arms are so crucial in allowing an effective technique 👍
