- Опубліковано 22 тра 2024
- Tony Jeffries shares how to throw a 1 - 2 / jab - cross which is the most basic boxing combination for beginners. This is probably the first boxing combo a beginner in boxing should learn. You should learn the common mistakes first that newbies make with this combination before we can teach you how to throw 1 - 2 properly.

Thanks mate 😄
I want to know where Tony got his faux brick work wallpaper for his walls lol or is it just stuck on
Or just not disagree with him … :-)
@@Tony_Jeffries My guy! No problem, appreciate your vids!
yup, he is some guy richie movie character
I like how even though he's a boxer, theres an equal amount of effort put into the editing as well as the instruction, very nice.
Hi Jac - I got a video editor :) but of course I do and shoot the video alone
🤣
Pretty condescending that
@@Tony_Jeffries Your editor probably at least an amateur now 😂
@@immortalslayer6231 yeah lol
Hey, Tony. I think you should start making reaction videos to fights. I wanna hear what you have to say in real time as fights play out, like a commentator but with a focus on boxing technique.
Hi Milo I got a 2nd channel for something like that ua-cam.com/channels/ZD2mPucScXI0k3WoFd6B9g.html but will add that playlist mate
No
Yeah like inoue he's a true monster
@@Tony_Jeffries you should promote that channel more!

Tony, I had spent some years in the ring, I had began my training when I was just a kid at age nine, my father had been a boxer, I grew up in the sport and later won my share of boxing tournaments in the amateur ranks, and I just wanted to leave a comment here to let to know I enjoy watching your video's and admire your skill; and I see your a great teacher and trainer. I wish you well. Keep punching that's how we win! May God bless!

I’m 59, boxed and from a boxing family and was doing some bag work on this, just this afternoon. Great info again mate. Inspiring and makes me remember what my dad taught me as a kid. 👍👏🎩
"the gyms got lots of women in it so they punch even harder"...😭😂😂😂
Started boxing at home about a week ago. I already feel like I'm improving just from watching your videos, and it's the only form of cardio I enjoy. Thanks a lot man!
So how’s it going
Let's spar I'm a year in as well
I’m in ! 58 years old but full of energy.
Will start to practice with your tutorials !
Never too old to start to learn boxing Sir. Keep it up!
It's almost midnight here and I'm watching this video and practicing this. I hope I don't wake the neighbors up 😂
Thank you coach. God bless
Where are you from mate? its 830 am here in LA
@@Tony_Jeffries Its past 1:00 AM here in Asia right now.

Tony you are the man. I'm on quarantine in Thailand and after doing your free workouts in my hotel room for just 3 days now, I can feel my timing and muscle memory improving. Thank you!
Man train muay thai there.

4:56 is my favourite combo-the 1-2 setting up the power jab
Been working a heavy bag for a few months now, your videos make it all so much easier Tony. I really appreciate your channel mate!
Thank you for everything tony, you got me back in the gym working hard as hell. Turning 33 and in the best shape of my entire life. Keep up the great videos.

Definition of best boxing channel who give content of this quality for free
I love the 1-2-1 combo in my sparring sessions. It often confuses even some of my more experienced partners.
Brooooo I rarely see people use the 1-2-1. Wish more MMA fighters used it
@@Tailbone44 i might sound retarded but whats the point of a jab after the 1 2? woudlnt a uppercut be more efficient consdiering there already stunned from the 12
@@Tailbone44 because of the takedown threat, most mma fighters do 1-2-sprawl drill instead
@@oa7274 It works because the second jab creates distance. And sets up your 3rd or 4th strike overhand or uppercut. Just hands up cuz after your last Jab he’s countering and that opens him up. Head movement is a must and having the weight in the ball of your feet. I do agree with you they train and drill different. BJ Penn, GSP, Gaethje, do the 1-2-1 effectively. Devin Haney does it good and Mayweather.
Thanks, this helps so much, i'm 14 and have always wanted to learn to box, but I never had any father figure or a brother, and none of my friends ever want to box, but with your videos i'm actually starting to get decent even though I dont have any equipment or people to spar with.
Glad I could help!
Hi mate, its great to see this from someone with a similar background, and ur starting young, even better. Know this, life isnt fair, dont expect it to be. However everyone has there battles, some more than others but the more battles you win, the stronger you will feel and be. Youve won the battle of self pity, keep on winning, its the only way to become your best, you owe it yourself.

All of the videos I’ve watched so far on this channel are GOLDEN!! Can’t wait to get on the bag at the office next week
I`m a 61 year old enjoying all this. Thanks. Managing to get my jab going out with my foot after a few sessions at home. My left cross is coming on too. Oh, to be 16 again.
Just class mate as always! Your a natural at teaching Tony...
Hi Mate
I've boxed as a sport and trained in Martial arts all my life , I'm fairly old now at 58 with three surgeries to my name to remove cancer . I've trained all over the world , I've trained with many great guys . The enthusiasm you put into this is great , however the best thing I got from this , is I'm going to get up in the morning, go into my private garden Dojo( training place) and check I'm doing all these things correctly just as you've instructed . This is brilliant I'm going to find you on UA-cam and watch more, much more .
Thankyou Tim Wanneroo Western Australia
these videos are so in depth and helpful. so glad i found this guy here.
When you mentioned the bonus tip"to add 15 to 25 percent power" I also like how that same technique sets up the lead hook nicely, the back foot coming slightly forward puts you in good position and range for the lead hook. I was originally taught to throw the 1-2 exactly like you displayed in the video before the last tip. When I did that one day my coach asked me to follow up with the lead hook, then he told me to step forward with the 1-2 to get in range for the hook, and to bring my back foot up slightly I noticed my lead hook felt really comfortable after throwing the 1-2. What I didn't know and now learned was that stepping forward with the 1-2 adds significant power to the 1-2 as you just taught. I always tryed to time my opponent coming forward so I could catch him like a head on collision, and I Know how much power that adds to the punch. But I didn't think about that the other way around (me stepping in with the punches) to add power, as you just showed at the end. I even got something out of this video Even though I learned to throw a 1-2 properly 15 years ago. So tony thank you for that I really appreciate you taking the time to teach us and all you do for us ,for free. Thank you and God bless you and yours
Happy to help Kenneth ma man
As someone who cant afford to go the gym right now im loving your videos thanks alot.

Been following you for the past 12 months or so and really enjoy your stuff. I have been boxing for 10 years, but still learn a lot of new things or extra little nuggets from your videos, keep it up!
Love your videos and teachings. I’m nearly 50 I’ve never boxed but really want to start a few basics purely for fitness an agility. Massive thumbs up Tony
I’ve been watching your videos for months now mate, because of you I started to do shadow boxing and more exercise to improve my overall health and fitness as well as confidence.
You are honestly one of the best boxing teachers on UA-cam, you explain everything really well and in great detail, and you’re such a genuinely cool person as well.
I appreciate you a hell of a lot, thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into your videos, you’ve certainly helped make my life better 😊 keep it up pal, much love from Lancashire ❤️
You're the man Tony. I attend the gym to practice the skills you teach. I can hear your voice in my head when i'm in there.
Came up in my feed today. Subscribed on accent alone! Love the clear, concise recommendations and examples
Thanks coach this really helped, especially when you explained that step-step-punch part. I tried it and I felt like I had more power!
I am new to boxing and can't get to the trainer due to pandemic. Since I am also healing myself from bad health conditions, your basic tutorials have been helping me. Thanks man.
Commenting, thank you Tony. Enjoying your videos recently. Lot of good teaching.
I love your videos, Tony. And your enthusiasm for boxing is important to many.
Hi Tony, first of all I wanted to thank you for the way you share your valuable knowledge and how much you do to make this sport grow in the right way. Although in our boxing school we handle practically the same concepts, seeing them expressed in such a clear way by someone who went as far as you in this sport, fills us with joy and pride, since it reflects that we are on the right path of learning . Thank you sincerely !!
Your school must be a great place to be.
Great content, sir!
Thanks for all the positive energy and the great lessons!
As a 31 year old Man who doesn’t necessarily wanna spend $300 dollars to sign up to a gym and has a daughter and always wanted to learn how to box thank you I appreciate tf outta you my guy 🤙🏽 Ima like all the videos and dissect everything 🫡
I dont pick things up well when no one explains the why behind it. That's why I love this channel. I actually retain the stuff lol
Great video, reminded me to keep my elbows in. I usually do but sometimes I get sloppy in my old age. When I keep my elbows in and throw the right hand correctly the power is much greater. Almost like you hit the sweet spot. Thanks for reminding me. God Bless. Also I was stationed at Bentwaters England during the early 80's and boxed at a gym in Ipswich, those bloaks were tough and great guys.
What very little boxing I tried in the past just feels like it received an upgrade. Thanks for the quality content 👌
Love your energy and love for teaching the sport.

Thanx for helping me improve my boxing skills during Muay Thai training. Your videos are amazing, efficient and easy to understand.
Awesome video Tony - I'm learning a lot of detailed technique stuff from you. Gives me stuff to work on, face to face with the bag in the garage, on lockdown in Australia. Thank you very much for your hard work and sharing your expertise in these videos. Greatly appreciated mate.
Nice 1 mate, thanks for the message - glad u like them
I love how guys think they're learning how to fight from watching, then practicing these moves-- like Benny Urquidez says, " all those pretty moves look great", but try getting in the ring against a competitive opponent & see what you can do. Lol
Try your "moves" in real-time sparring against someone a little bit better than you to see how good you really are! Lol You'll quickly realize you know nothing.
They're not 'moves' they're just basic techniques..You need to have sound techniques or you'll never be any good.
Never seen one of my subscribes talking to another before. Bit weird.
Great video. I was actually taught (by a former boxer) to step into that 1 and it really does make a difference. These videos are legitimate.

@Tony Jeffries, Thanks for the videos! I'm glad I watched this, because I've been throwing the cross wrong. I've been leaning into it. I'll work on fixing that.
Perfect as always❤ My coach made me work only 1-2 for a year and nothing else. Very important!
Nice!!! Your 1 - 2 must be really strong now mate

Tony's favorite words: "To the uneducated eye"
xD
Great video. I started my first day of boxing ever today. My trainer asked me did I have my own wraps, and I had no idea what he was talking about. Im 37 this year, and I'm liking it so far.
All honesty, Tony does put a ton of positive energy and time into these videos. He shares phenomenal info that can actually help you improve your fight game and get fight ready. I train a lot with these techniques and practices
Coach, can you maybe one day explain the concept of "sitting on your punches" I feel like it gets thrown around a lot and most people don't really get what it means.
I will publish this video soon mate ( i got this edited already)
Very good content Tony, maybe u should make new series or subchanel, about more professional things how to learning and how to do with timings, how to properly counter jabs, how to jab with leaving line of enemy jab, cutting of the ring, making pressure etc. I know ofc that box is not mathematic on paper, and for learning u need just to fight and spend thousand hours on ring, but sometimes little tips from experienced point of view are really really helpfull. Or detailed analysis with comment pro fights briedis-usyk, plant-uzcategui or all golovkins matches...
That's great Tony. Your enthusiasm shines out. Truly inspiring. Thank you.
Thanks Tony, learning so much from you. (I have a whole new increased respect for all boxers now I’m doing it and realizing just how difficult it is!).
Could you do a breakdown of the lead hook?
Great vid Tony - loved the point about the elbows - one of my trainers would often shout 'no chicken wings' to make this point 😁
Practice side on with your ‘jab-side’ very close to a wall. Don’t allow your elbow to touch the wall, then switch to the other side. Soon cures that ‘chicken-wing’ 😀
@@MrSummerblade that's a great tip - I'll give that a go 👍- thanks 😁

method very helpful as I'm a visual learner.
