      Canelo Alvarez literally does exactly what the guy is saying not to do.
      Also Dillon Danis has 0 boxing experience, never punched a guy in a fight ever in his life and went all rounds with Logan without taking any proper clean shots.
      if you want to learn how to fight, you do what Dillon Danis did becaus it fucking sparked. AND ofcourse, you do what Canelo does.

      @@WholesaleJewelleryAustralia Yeah, what casuals and beginners need to understand is that there isn't any one way of doing things, once you're skilled enough you can adopt different styles from these textbook fundamentals. For instance, some high level boxers will not really use a guard at all, rely more on countering, and keep their hands so you can't see their jabs.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz 7 місяців тому +1

      You mean versicle fist? It's good in all positions and is the more natural and structurally sound punch, especially you connect with bottom 3(or middle 2) knuckles if you are doing bare knuckle.
      Yes, I went there. Lol. But this trainer seems legit so I am curious on his opinion also since most "pure" boxers or karate guys would be raging just reading this.

    • @kishfoo
      @kishfoo 7 місяців тому +2

      @ex0duzz Maybe. I don't know what a versicle fist is, so I can't answer that for you. Also, I only punch with the top two knuckles. If your opponent is any good and is moving around a lot, you could break your pinky as it has no thumb support.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz 7 місяців тому +1

      @@kishfoo sorry, vertical fist. Basically just a "normal" non twist punch as you put it. Your arms and hand position is normally in that position to begin with so it should be both faster and less telegraphed to throw, and also to retract and "rechamber" if you're just doing pure boxing. But personally I train for just self defense purposes and I would probably just continue in and keep flowing into a attack once I have "bridged the gap" using a jab and not step back or stay on the outside. For self defense, you usually want to be the one attacking and never stop or give them any chance to attack to begin with. Because if I can stay on the outside and do repeated jabs, that means im not serious enough in my intentions to fight and finish the other dude/s off asap with least risk and I can just avoid the fight to begin with which also includes running away if verbal de-escalation doesn't work.
      As for breaking the pinky, if your opponent is good and moving around enough to make you hit incorrectly, you could/would still break your pinky or any other knuckles just as easily using the top 2 knuckles, no?
      Personally I find that horizontal fist and using the top 2 knuckles makes it much easier to land incorrectly(and damage your wrist too), especially when throwing hooks. You can easily land with just the corner of your index finger knuckle. That's why I never throw full power horizontal hooks using top 2 knuckles on a bag, let alone someone's skull.
      Imo the wrist alignment is the main issue, since imo it's not structurally sound. Try doing knuckle pushups with the different knuckles and with both horizontal and vertical fist positions. It should feel much more structurally sound with vertical and bottom 2/3 knuckles and less pressure on the wrist.

    • @kishfoo
      @kishfoo 7 місяців тому +2

      @ex0duzz Yup, but it's not really the pinky nuckle that'll break. It's when you accidentally contact using the next knuckle closer to your nail.

    That's a jab with a catch and a step, I know this sounds like pointless nitpicking but that isn't a fundamentally perfect jab in of itself , that's layering three different techniques.
    It's a damn good method of safely covering the distance but a jab is a jab, if you don't have clean mechanics what's the point?
    I reckon saying this is how to safely cross the distance and land a jab would be more productive.
    If you catch with every jab you'll get timed with round shots.
    If you step with every jab a timed cross or straight will fuck your shit up and break through the catch, let alone a rear uppercut.
    There's no perfect solution to any one question in boxing.
    only more optimal solutions accounting for circumstance.

      I boxed professionally but mainly fought mma. I competed as a pro for 18 years and now own and teach out of Tristar Gym West Coast where I have a squad of professional and amateur fighters. People disagree with me because there are many ways to do almost every technique. Most people though don’t actually think about why their way is right or wrong, they just regurgitate the same things that their coaches told them. I have spent many years testing and retesting all these techniques so I believe I understand which ways are most beneficial.

    I remember your short trying to teach people how to throw a hook, citing knuckles up was incorrect. You might have every intention of helping people, but your technique, and justification specifically for the hook, is awful. Your jab isn't wrong but i don't agree with the claim that the first one is. you can be defensively responsible with the first one too by hiding behind the jab and bending at the waist. Who says I failed? Also why wouldn’t fighters coach after retiring from competition? Would you rather have a coach that never fought? I don’t get ur thought process.

    Guess who jabs how he’s saying not to…. Tyson fucking Fury. Throw your jab however you feel comfortable. There’s fighters that don’t even turn their punches anymore, do what feels right to you and protect yourself.
