I have followed this imaginable artist since he was a kid. He is definitely in a league all his own. I do truly miss his other half, Lyle Mays. But we still have their music. We (his fans) are thankful for having a chance to live inside his mind, want to thank all of you for sharing his beloved sounds.
Clever way to avoid arguments with the band about what track to play next. This is what happens when a brilliant musician combines musical genius with technology. This project goes well with Pat's "Mad Scientist" hair. Simply incredible.
Saw this performed at UC Berkeley. Totally blown away! It started with Pat on stage with a small mechanical contraption with him on a stool and a acoustic guitar. Then the curtain raised and the whole stage was filled with this huge orchestrion! Absolutely mesmerizing 😀!
I can't get enough of hearing this. I'm really feeling this.. and I love feeling it again and again and again. One beautiful piece of music from PMG.TY
I saw this concert at the very end of it's course.I had heard the cd but really did not know what i was about to experience. What an amazing and gifted musician Pat Metheny is.This project was years in the making and it paid off.I had heard on his last concert in London on the encore the whole system did not want to comply. So back to the basics, with Acoustic guitar in hand he finished the show. What wonderful feat of wonder and beauty.Kudos to Pat Metheny and his robots.!!!
It really is insane how he actually got all this to work...and to sound good. Love Spirit of the Air, and especially love the new life he was able to add to "Sueno con Mexico".
This is the work of a true genius...a supernatural metaphor of art creation, and a redemeer of the most obscure fears of humanity.A hurricane of hope among troubled times. Thanks for your amazing resilience Sir Pat Metheny!!
Leave it to Pat Metheny to bridge old school technology with old tech reschooled. He told everyone what his next project was going to be, designing a robotic band they thought he went over the cliff. They thought the music in itself would be stiffulled," robotic sounding".But once they heard and saw what he had created then they heard Pat Methany 's dream come true.I often wonder where his musical sensibilities come from ? But then i think plainly someone's going to do it.May his endless creativity continue to delight our sensibilities .
As innovative and accomplished this venture was for Pat Metheny... I prefer humans interacting/playing together when it comes to my music. Infinitely more. ...and I've been listening/watching/attending Pat Metheny (...in all formats and settings) since 1978. Chao. Retired Vietnam era veteran, ex Detroiter, expatriate living in México, Colombia, etc....permanently.
I used to go to Underground Atlanta back in the 1970s when they had these huge organs and grand music boxes, and you could put a dollar (4 quarters) in, and it'll play tons of John Phillip Souza music! Pat has always been inspired by things just like that, because his grandfather owned a player piano. So whenever Pat visited Grandpa, the first place he'd run to was the basement where he would play it and watch all the mechanics working. I've always been delighted by them and all those street organs, barrel organs and grand orchestral music boxes, so Pat was just living a dream. I hope he gets to do it again, and I've got a feeling that when he's a grandpa, he'll be doing just that for his grandkids. He's already supremely happy with the project, so it's no surprise that he really enjoyed doing this so much.
Amazing….I’m sure this was mentioned in the comments- he toured with these marvelous midi -tricked out-machines! I know right?…so grateful I caught the mind blowing show at Music Hall-Detroit. ❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏
Turn it up very loud while driving the Pacific Coast Hwy Route 1 along Big Sur at sunset...another dimension...🙏🍄🥑🍓🦁this ANKH photo was taken from my windshield on that trip...heaven came to earth : : and ANKHored, bless from Ecuador 🏵️ and AZ🍄🥑🍓🦁🌵🌻🙏
Hi Love Pat and PMG and have most of his music and seen him many times ...last was at Ronnie Scotts with Simcock & Oh I understand the Orchestrion concept but i did not witness that Tour -seems too mechanical for me. He is such a talent in his own right with flair , ingenuity, passion , feeling , emotion and downright brilliant guitar playing ..lets keep it that way - Idont want HIM replaced by a Pat Robot !! Still cant believe 299 views??? He is so so underrated and will be a Guitar Bach in a hundred years . Everyone I let listen immediately follows pursuit DJEJ
looks like there's two pianos, two drum "kits" and three tuned percussion sets (vibraphone, marimba, celeste) here but can't see much of when they are used. seems the cymbals must be being played from each of the two "kits" simultaneously because there isn't that much being played on either one.
The idea and the concept it's pretty amazing, and I imagine to witness it live has to be amazing... But leaves me wonder... We already have machines that produce sounds in a more pragmatic, practical and functional way and less prone to mechanical failures called computers... Maybe in the futurePat could return to this concept again using sequences and software a la Jacob Coiller
In a lot ways he did what Parker, Coleman and Coltrain did. Music that is not “acid” ….but trip on it. I hear to how he influenced others…for instance mid-period Porcupine Tree….
This is what happens when the guys who plays the percussionists and drummers thinks he deserve Equal share of the ticket gross income with Pat during concerts. Out they go, Pat doesnt need them all....
I've never quite understood why Pat did this, maybe just to prove it could be done...? Or was he just tired of dealing with real people? The amount of programming and construction must have been immense. I should google his comments on this project and why....
The music is gorgeous as always and he’s my favourite jazz guitarist however music is communication between humans and this sounds fast too mechanic and robotic I’m afraid. Just play anything by the PMG and listen to how much life is there instead!
PM is an innovator, I respect that he applies his creativity in non traditional forms. I can only imagine what this leads to in future projects. I suspect those he mentors will be better for it, and by extension his fans will be rewarded by the best he can give. An artist dedicated to the “thing.”
This piece... As if exploring the Pacific in the doldrums with a bottle of rum and a sleeping beauty beside you which you don't give a fuc about coz u r high af and u like the light air

Thanks for your precious words...I share your thoughts
May be the reference to lyle mays will disappear one day…..pat is much more than that, and’probably miss him much more than we do….
An absolute Master Musician. Not only did he compose this piece but he programmed and synchronized all the back up electronic instruments. ❤
Clever way to avoid arguments with the band about what track to play next. This is what happens when a brilliant musician combines musical genius with technology. This project goes well with Pat's "Mad Scientist" hair.
Simply incredible.
The most Steampunk music I have ever seen. Pat is the last musician on Earth jamming with his robot band.
Saw this performed at UC Berkeley. Totally blown away! It started with Pat on stage with a small mechanical contraption with him on a stool and a acoustic guitar. Then the curtain raised and the whole stage was filled with this huge orchestrion! Absolutely mesmerizing 😀!
When Skynet develops excitement it will make this man a king
Was kann man sagen eines der Schönsten Melodien Komposition die es gibt für mich. Und diese Installation Unglaublich.
Pat never stops!!! Always in evolution.
I can't get enough of hearing this. I'm really feeling this.. and I love feeling it again and again and again. One beautiful piece of music from PMG.TY
Unsurpassed, always up to date, there is no other on this planet!
This is beyond great music. This is great art. A visual wonder, indeed.
Thank you for this Jimmy "the tulip" Tudeski. It's the whole nine yards. 😉
Saw this live in Cleveland when he toured. Mind-blowing....

Agreed! Sounds much more full. ✌️❤️🇨🇦
Yes, the orchestrion is the best version of Sueno Con Mexico. It is so heartfelt.
This is the work of a true genius...a supernatural metaphor of art creation, and a redemeer of the most obscure fears of humanity.A hurricane of hope among troubled times. Thanks for your amazing resilience Sir Pat Metheny!!
A musical genius at work.
Extraordinary piece of art. Amazing.
Il piu grande musicista del mondo ❤
Cada día doy gracias por tener tu musica Pat
Such a positive energy! Pat e’ un genio musicale della sua era so fortunate following you since 1985 your concert in Venice-Mestre

And which he has done with his Side Eye project.....so stoked about the new release 10 Sept 2021, and tour!
There is no need for AI on Orchestrion. Just mechanics and computations.
There is an I in Orchestration a nd A in Pat.Compremde amigo
folie totale ! ! ! mais toujours magnifique musique !!! ce sacré Pat !
My three favorite guitarists are Pat Metheny (jazz), Allan Holdsworth (fusion), and Alex Lifeson (rock).
As innovative and accomplished this venture was for Pat Metheny...

Grandissimo musicista. Ho visto parecchi suoi concerti...
AI & automation meets musical genius Pat Metheny Wonderfully innovative ! DJEJ

Wow I really felt that
Bravo Maestro !!!
Amazing as usual for PM. The scene is slightly reminiscent of Sebastian’s apartment in the original “Blade Runner”.
yeah pat in his 'mad scientist'-lab!
saw the orchestrion tour...he and his machines...for nearly three hours!

Neil Raouf lucky

Straordinario Pat Metheny
Genial man music-man
O ser humano é substituído por máquinas. ..incrível! A genialidade junto e misturado com a tecnologia. Assustador O que nos reserva o futuro? ??
The feather crown of music

only Pat could have pulled this off .
Saw this live
Eccezionale
No late musicians, only technicians.
Saw this in the barbican london amazing wonder what he,s done with it since?
Fantastico
Wouldn't it be crazy if it turned out Pat Metheny ends up being responsible for Skynet
Now he plays everything alone...
for real? wow!
He is like jamming with AI. Or by one other saying next spirit under and beyond the sky.
Very Steve Reich inspired!!...
Now thats my kinda toy!!
and then there were none.
I don't see him using any pedals, how does he change the actions of the different instruments?
Can it get any better than this?

i feel like this is the opposite of the point though....
Dentro de poco sobra uno
In a lot ways he did what Parker, Coleman and Coltrain did.
Music that is not “acid” ….but trip on it.
I hear to how he influenced others…for instance mid-period Porcupine Tree….
The ghost of Barbarossa is playing le xylophone
Someone pls tell me, how the instruments produce SOUNDs except Pat's guitar?
fusion engines...
There is no need for AI on Orchestrion. Just mechanics and computations.
He sounds better than any guitarist i ever heard. And he doesnt bend strings.
He does bend strings lmao wtf are u saying? 4:18
God himself.
Oltre 17 Grammy vinti. Scusate se è poco.
Thats why Steve Reich cannot be proud of himself.
huh?
This is what happens when the guys who plays the percussionists and drummers thinks he deserve Equal share of the ticket gross income with Pat during concerts.
Out they go, Pat doesnt need them all....
😱
Class apart
Really only 466 views and no comments...No wonder Trump got in : (
Amen!
Those at the highest level do strange things , sorry but the golden period has long gone . Will you play this very often With admiration ?
6:10
Of course 6:10 ……. 😉
