Thanks for the review. Everything I previously saw in this bag made me want to purchase one. If it wasn't for watching the auction sites trying to find one at a really low price I would already own one. Fortunately for me... I came across your review of the Rush 72 and learned that it was uncomfortable for a 6 ft. tall man. Since I'm 6'2" - 220lbs I don't think I will be buying on now. Again... thank you. You saved me a few bucks and a lot of aches and pains. Stay Safe!
Thanks for the gear review. I appreciate that right in the beginning of the review you covered the cons of the pack, for example the height restrictions on the waist belt. That was my biggest fear, I myself being 6' and having seen technical bags before where the waist belts ride too high for them to be effective in relieving weight from the shoulders. I really wanted to get this bag because of the other features to use for backpacking trips over the weekends but if I can't carry the weight it's a deal breaker. Thanks again for a great review and not dragging the review on endlessly.
I just want to say thank you. You are the only video I have found after extensive searching for a sizeable comparison between the 24 and 72 front and side compare. Thank you!
Thank you. You are the only reviewer I have seen that has had the sense to wear the pack for us to see, and as I am also 5.8 you have made my mind up for me.
This is probably the best review of this of this bag anywhere. All reviews should use this as a template for how to explain and demonstrate an item meant to be worn on the body. I'm 6'1" and own one, and couldn't figure out why it was so uncomfortable. You give an excellent break down of the pouch/pocket sizes and abilities, again, something for which there is precious little actual info floating around, as well as providing a very good load out and commentary. Well done!
@@fathersonsurvival no, I didn't. I still have it, as a spare, but as he points out, it's just too short for someone over 5'10" or so. It's very annoying, as it's top quality other than that.

Great review dude. Actual specs are always great to have and the side by side with the 24 is another key bit of visual information. Also how it looks when worn is important. Thanks for taking your time to do it right. Keep this good stuff coming!Thumbs up!
awesome review. im 5'9" and it fits perfect. i would recomend adding a folding shovel and maybe consider some vacuum bags. i bought some from harbor freight, put my change of clothes in there and other various items, vac it down and its very compressed and keeps them fresh.
Thanks for doing this review. I’m 6ft and intended on buying this bag. I also intended on carrying a bit of weight in it. I won’t be buying it now. It’s a huge bag and doesn’t make sense to pack it lightly. I already have smaller packs for that. I also have a hiking pack that is padded and fits me so I guess this one isn’t needed.
I’m 5’11” (ironic that I also like 5.11 gear) and I love my Rush 72 I added stuff to the MOLLE on the back, side, and both shoulder straps and my gear totals to about 36 lbs. It is very comfortable for me, I had to move the sternum strap down one MOLLE stop from what it came in, but after I did that, it as comfortable as can be.
At 5"7 with a 30 inch inseam, this is great...Glad they love short guys. Have hiked for fun and conditioning with this pack and it is awesome. Hope to do some section hiking on the AT, Benton McKaye and Bartram this coming spring and summer with it.Great load plan for backpackers and preppers.
I'd what he's talking about with it being made for smaller guys. I'm 6'2" 200# and it fits me great. The waist strap does what it's supposed to on me. My $0.02
Within the first few minutes, you make a hell of a point. I'm 6' and I weigh a lot more than you. This bag sits very high on my shoulders. But I still love it. Haven't figured out everything I'm going to put in it yet, so I haven't had a chance to walk with it for a long period of time. But you're probably right about all the weight being on the shoulders.
Great review. Liked how you did the side-by-side with the smaller version. You're accent is funny, in a good way. You didn't mention that the sternum strap is vertically adjustable. This is important, as many bags have the strap too high. Still great video. I like how you edited it, instead of keeping in the parts where you probably rambled on. Wish more people would edit like you.
it's good you mentioned the lack of shoulder adjustment and how uncomfortable it is in the beginning (when I set the weight on my waist I have to loosen the shoulder straps enough that the pack hangs off my upper back so much that it's pointless). It's the main reason I wouldn't recommend it other than for what it's worth, eg a well-organized short distance A-to-B kind of pack. Good review btw
0:55 Good point re height/torso length, etc. but not all guys are built alike. Some have longer legs/shorter back and some the other way around. The best thing of course is to try one on.
Great review. I currently have the the ILBE large pack (70 Litre ?). Its gargantuan, but I love it and find it fits perfect, but I was considering the 5.11 Rush 72 for another, smaller pack. I'm 6 foot tall myself and thanks to your review about the inability for that pack to fit our heights properly, I'm going to have to look elsewhere. I really appreciated that information, or I would've been cursing that bag partway into a hike. Great vid. My back and bank account thanks you. Be well.
Very valuable review for me, as I'm even a bit taller than you are. What a bummer. I so love the materials, durability, PALS and the side bags. Thought I had a decent "bridge" until a new Vulture with decent ventilation came out. Starting to lose hope to find a decent 46L bag.
You could try putting the blanket in a waterproof sleeping bag bag and fastex clip it to the front/top or bottom of the bag. It will give you plenty more space in the bag and it will stay dry.
Finally someone did a review on tactical packs the right way. i'm 5'11 so most of these packs w/ hip belts are not gonna fit right on me....that sucks! The only one i know that will is the sabra pack because it comes in sm. med. & large.
A lot of backpacking backpacks have these thin straps that go from the top of the pack, to the top of your straps. They really help pull the weight closer to you. I was wondering if you a. Attached those (simple mod), them wore it lower so the waist belt fit at the right spot, (maybe) it would fit close to your back, whole stool being low with so the straps fit. Either way, thanks for the review. I'll be making a trip to my closest store to try it out before pulling the trigger. (I'm 5'10, maybe with a half in there)
thanks for your review. I bought me one I'm 6-foot I tried it out for couple days and just kill my shoulders I trying adjusting the straps it make hard to take off and on the Weight still set way low
I've owned this exact bag for over a year, walking around for about 2 hours per day with it, and it is definitely not designed for load bearing. It is designed for organization. I am 5 foot 8 inches tall. It is comfortable over short distances with a light to moderate gear pack. It makes a great book bag for school, though its overkill for EDC applications. I don't recommend this bag for an INCH or bug-out application. I've walked 5 miles in the heat with this and its bigger brother, the ALS 84 (the paramedic version) and my back and shoulders are KILLING ME after 2-3 hours walking in 90 degree heat with a 50lb load. Not bug out-able. It is my hybrid EDC-GetHome bag.
Also I should add that the stitching on the neck collar of the shoulder harness, one of the diagonal stitch lines which links the cordura with the lighter/smoother nylon back padding material has come undone in only 1 year of moderate urban use with a relatively heavy load. My INCH and bugout setups now use the Eberlestock bags for load-bearing GTFO scenario packing.
You are so right about height, almost all tactical bags are made for short guys. the condor titan elite is 22 inches long do uoy think that would fit someone who is 5'11-6' feet tall?
thanks for the review! I'm considering the back seriously, but I"m 6-3 and 350. BTW where are you? From the vegetation and the background, it looks like the plains of Africa.
In your opinion, would this bag incur the wrath of the airlines for carry on or is it too big for that? In my experience airlines don't seem to care about packs (within reason), but that may vary according to location and airline.
Brilliant review. So many bags out there are designed for the average man for sure. Not much flexibility. If you loosen the shoulder straps to lower the bag so that it rides on your hips then the sternum strap chokes you.
Hi, Thanks for a great review. Like many tactical packs the hip belt is high to accommodate a military belt kit. I know this doesn't help the fit but it is a fact. Most 'civilian' packs will be lower if adjusted/sized correctly. Respect from a UK viewer.
Thanks for watching. Your are right about the belt being higher. I love the bag, it is just not for long hikes if you have a M/L torso length. Thanks again
Why don't you lower the straps until the waist belt rides on the hips? You can adjust the sternum strap to make up for lowering the bag. Am I missing something?
good review thanx i was thinking about buying the maxpedition falcon 2 but i dont think it will hold all i need in my bugoutbag i think this bag would b a good size bag for me again good job on this review
Thanks for the review! Any suggestions for a field pack similar to this style (organization, molle, etc) for a 6' + tall guy? I have a mystery ranch with adjustable yoke, but it's a little much for 1-3 days.
Thanks for the great review! Do you have a proportionally long torso or something? Because 3" more in height does not equal 3" more of torso length, normally that is distributed between torso and legs with larger portion being in the legs. But there are people with longer than "normal" torso proportion. Maybe you fit into that category? Would you recommend the 72hr bag over say a bag with an internal frame? Thanks again for the review.
Hey, thanks for the comment and question. I am a 17" torso. I have purchased a kelty internal frame pack that is awesome. It is the kelty 4000. I will be doing a review on it soon. It is night and day comfort wise between it and the rush 72. However the rush 72 is really hard to be when it comes to organization. Plus it is a very tough bag. i still use it for short trips on a 4-wheeler or to rough around with, but never to carry on my back for a long distance.
I have the same problem with this pack not being tall enough. I'm 6'2", and the waist belt needs to come down about 4 or 5 inches. Awesome bag though, so far that's the only issue I've had
Hey, Great vid, so great I wanted to buy my own pack. But after you said that they dont make a size for someone 6 foot, I was bummed. Know anyone that could custom make this pack for someone like ourselves at 6 foot? I've sent comments to 5.11 I have not gotten any word from them, if they can make custom fit packs.
If you read these comments, here is one that might just help, they make compression bags, if you can't find one the right size take a poncho ( military ) will work and some Para cord and wrap the blanket with the poncho and squeeze the air out and tie it down.
Hi, just wondering if you'd recommend the rush 72 5.11 for traveling. I'm off to oz n Nz for 2 months and I'm after a rucksack that will be good for. Cheers Ian
Hey mate, im 5 10 got the rush 12 and 24, both packs sit well and comfy, ganna get the rush 72, im sure it should be ok for my height, how tall are you, you look to be 6 or over. Now im curious to see if it will actually be comfortable.
Hey I am 6'-0" It seemed to put to much weight on my shoulders. I think it will be good if you are 5' 10". I have ordered a kelty falcon 4000. I will do a review on it when i get it. If the 5.11 is comfy on you, the you will love it. I do. just uncomfortable for me.
+equatorbushcraft Are you sure that's not an exaggeration? You said this was probably made to fit the average 5 foot 9 tall male. I'm 5 foot 5 and my torso measures around 18 inches tall.
+ShadeSlayer1911 Thats quite the torso length for a 5'5" guy. Torsos vary from each person. Notice i said the average american is 5'9"-5'10". the average torso of that size male is 15-16". Thanks for watching.
+Rhyno 33 Hey. Hard to say. I would think it might be a little tight for you. Best thing is if you have a place near by you might try one on. Sorry i am not more help.
you can fit a number of fire arms in it. Any particular size you are wanting to know about? a 17" laptop will easily fit into the rush 72. The rush 24 will comfortably hold a 15" laptop. Thanks for watching.
equatorbushcraft To answer your question. Can these bags fit a Blackberry tablet with a 15 inch laptop with extra fire arms and ar mags and is comfortable or is it gonna be heavy?
The rush 24 is very comfortable. It does not have a belt strap. It would carry easily what you are saying. Depending on how many mags and forearms you are talking about. It is roomy. The 72 will do that and more because it is bigger. The 24 for the price is hard to beat
I had a quick question. Would the RUSH TIER rifle sleeve be to heavy with it on the back and have it farther back because of the place were you can put a helmet in
If you actually have a helmet in it, i think it would be sticking out a lot and might be uncomfortable for you. If you don't have much stuffed in the helmet pocket i think you would be fine.
Tall people update! Look at this link: (5.11 Rush 24 Backpack with Waist/Hip Belt). I think it is a great idea to add this item instead of the one we have on the 24 and 72.
I'm 6' to 6'1 but have a short torso compared to others my height, do you think it may fit me? If possible could you tell me your rough torso height for comparison? Sorry if that's a odd request haha.
+Joey Byars (xJoey6855x) Hey. Yes my torso is about 19 inches and it seemed the bag rode a little to high for me. I would just youtube how to measure torso length and measure yours. if you are 15-17" i think it would be perfect for you.
NEBeachcomber Glad it helped, wish i had know myself before buying. I spent $133 for it. I was disappointed because the bag is awesome. I have found another bag that i think will be the best of both worlds. I will post a video soon. Thanks again.
Simon Marcus Hey. I found mine on Amazon when they were having a special deal. Plus it waas free shipping. just looked and they are now $145 plus shipping.
+Ruggada Hey. There are several good alternatives out there. One particulary that I have enjoyed is teh Kelty falcon 4000. Look through my videos and I have a review on it. It is a little bigger 65 liters, but an awesome bag. You can take the top off and it is even smaller. The other bag I have enjoyed is the Kelty Redwing 50. I am going to do a review on that one soon. It is not as tactical and is not cordura but has been really tough and it is inexpensive.
Great review. I have the same one but in black. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for sharing. Also I like what you did with your Channel YOU have my subscription would like to have your support as well. Thanks again my friend 👍

Excellent review. Cheers
So can fit 5-6 days worth of cloths in a 72 hour bag and STILL have room and space for other shit or do I need a bigger bag?
Have you sold this bag yet?
fits my wife as she is shorter. sorry. thanks for watching
Thanks man!
Would it be too big for a 5' 3" male with broad shoulders?
Michael Abramovitch you can adjust the shoulder straps to lower or bring up the bag
13:28 you weren’t lying 🧻 🦠
How big are you, i am 15 and 5'9" just wondering if this pack will fit me
+Practical Bugout 6 feet and 170 lbs. It is really your torso length that matters.
Whats the shortest person it would fit?
Hey. I would not go below a 14" torso or above a 16" torso.
equatorbushcraft thx for the help
equatorbushcraft I subbed aswell
+equatorbushcraft Are you sure that's not an exaggeration? You said this was probably made to fit the average 5 foot 9 tall male. I'm 5 foot 5 and my torso measures around 18 inches tall.
+ShadeSlayer1911 Thats quite the torso length for a 5'5" guy. Torsos vary from each person. Notice i said the average american is 5'9"-5'10". the average torso of that size male is 15-16". Thanks for watching.
whats the name of this backpack
5.11 rush 72
What bag would you recommend for someone 6'. Thanks!
+Brett Abernethy I really like the Kelty falcon 4000
Im 6'2 with very large shoulders because of my competitive power lifting background. Would this bag just be absolutely useless to me?
+Rhyno 33 Hey. Hard to say. I would think it might be a little tight for you. Best thing is if you have a place near by you might try one on. Sorry i am not more help.
No problem, thanks for responding.
how many liters is this?
+Russel Calusin Hello. It is about 47 liters, a little over 2850 cubic inches
What kind of Firearm and laptop you can fit in the rush 24 and 72?
you can fit a number of fire arms in it.
The 24 for the price is hard to beat
equatorbushcraft Thanks for answering my question man.
Ok thanks!
Tall people update! Look at this link: (5.11 Rush 24 Backpack with Waist/Hip Belt). I think it is a great idea to add this item instead of the one we have on the 24 and 72.
+prepper quebecois After purchasing my Rush 72, i'm sorry to say that the link i gave you, doesn't work on a Rush 72; sorry.
would it look too big for a 5'3''?
I'm 6' to 6'1 but have a short torso compared to others my height, do you think it may fit me? If possible could you tell me your rough torso height for comparison? Sorry if that's a odd request haha.
+Joey Byars (xJoey6855x) Hey. Yes my torso is about 19 inches and it seemed the bag rode a little to high for me. I would just youtube how to measure torso length and measure yours. if you are 15-17" i think it would be perfect for you.
+equatorbushcraft okay thank you for such a quick reply, have been watching your videos the past 30 minutes and really enjoy how thorough you are.
Practice for the crisis, so that in the crisis is just like practice... 21:17
Where is your food?
I had 5 mountain house meals in the zippered mesh in the main compartment.
NEBeachcomber Glad it helped, wish i had know myself before buying. I spent $133 for it. I was disappointed because the bag is awesome. I have found another bag that i think will be the best of both worlds. I will post a video soon. Thanks again.
Thanks equatorbushcraft!
I'm looking forward to seeing the report on the bag that you think will be the best compromise.
equatorbushcraft Where did you pay $133 for it?!
Simon Marcus Hey. I found mine on Amazon when they were having a special deal. Plus it waas free shipping. just looked and they are now $145 plus shipping.
just bay one ...hope that not gonna give mi a problem im 6ft
How did it turn out?!
Yes this bag will fit a guy that is 5'-6" nicely
+equatorbushcraft
Hey! So what would the alternative to this bag (~50L) tactical pack for a 6' person? Thanks!
It is not as tactical and is not cordura but has been really tough and it is inexpensive.
kelty would fit better, but not as tough
get the kelty map3500
Hey, actually got the kelty falcon 4000 and love it, check out the video. Thanks
I carry 30 pounds to school everyday and I never complain
