The haunting of Earlswood Lakes

A site survey of the haunted lakes. The three lakes which make up Earlswood Lakes; The Boating Lake, The Engine Lake & The Private Lake were built and filled during the 1820's as a source of water for the Stratford upon Avon Canal. They took five years to construct at the cost of £297,000.
Haunted by the Ghosts of French Napoleonic Prisoners of War, who were forced to provide labour for the engineering project. The work was very hard and the harsh conditions the prisoners had to endure meant many of them died during construction. Instead of being buried in nearby graveyards and given a Christian burial - the bodies of the dead were buried on the lake beds before being covered in water. It is these lost souls who have been seen haunting the shoreline, dressed in ragged periodic clothing. They appear either in a small group or alone. They do not appear to notice the living.
The optimum place to view these apparitions is either at dawn or dusk, around the western and northern shoreline of the Private Lake (around the ruined boathouse). Also the road which divides The Boating Lake from The Engine Lake, by the Dam, has paranormal provenance.

Back in the lates 80's there was a body found right near where your standing, the lake closet to the Earlswood Pub

k oakes yea it was pulled up by a boy fishing his legg came to the surface l was fishing the terrys pool when thay found it allso it had concrete blocks to hold it down

My friends dad found a post man who tied a rope to his leg and put bricks at the end of the rope he committed suicide and I'm not lying also I live there

I can’t lie I would not be suprised if there was a cult in the woods behind the lake, I live there and I hear some questionable sounds sometimes
