- Earlswood Lakes in the West Midlands has recently undergone a huge revamp. The pools were drained, dredged, topped up and then fully restocked with every commercial Anglers dream specimen, the reliable F1’s.
Recent winning match weights have been trawling in at 270lb+!!!
So Big Bird armed with his distance feeder tackle, headed down there to see what all the fuss was about…

The pegs were awesome De292… there were a few that if I was in a match, I’d be a little cheesed off with as they had low hanging branches… and as Earlswood (after todays sport) appears to be a very feeder specialist pool, I think all those branches need trimming to give EVERYONE in a match the chance to chuck long! £7 for the day though, can’t go wrong! 👍🏻 BB

Brilliant BB! I haven't fished Earlswood in 20 years...it's changed a bit! But I'll be there in the near future. I've returned to the sport recently after something of a break... my first impression is wow... how many top venues there are now, within 20 mile drive. Can't wait to try them all... and happy to hold a camera for you anytime, i'm Warwickshire based. PS....Even looked like you should have had a bit of factor 30 on!

I never really intended too… but if someone is going to wish me luck and then the rod tip goes round, they can pull up a chair and sit with me all day! 😂 The other chap happened to be walking past at just the right moment to move the camera into a better view, after I’d finished all my juggling 🤦🏻♂️ BB
1 match has been won with 270lb!!!! Most matches are won with ton plus weights and those matches can still have people blanking... 👍🏻
That’s what I’d heard and made me go see what all the fuss was about… if it continues Darren, I can see the venue potentially holding some national qualifiers… especially feeder competitions 👍🏻 BB

Haha, I get you Sav… have to be wary for sure when filming… I tend to make sure if our in public, I’m fishing somewhere no one else is, and also get it done as soon as I can 😂 The chap who moved my camera was a chap who fished there regularly apparently, but was only having a walk around the lakes that day 🙏🏻 BB

Alright And… head down valley road so the lakes are on your left and at the end up the little hill, immediately turn left into Wood Lane, then immediately left again and there is a free car park for about 20 cars mate 👍🏻 BB

Big bird what baits was you catching on please
You can see the bait I was using in the video Adrian… 2mm Mainline Cell soaked pellets with a drop of scopex Sonubaits bait booster in the feeder and a Tuna (pink) 8mm Mainline wafter… didn’t need to change up the bait… caught on it all day 👍🏻 BB

What feeder rod did you use
It’s the Daiwa Tournament Pro 136Q (It’s the beefed up version of the tournament pro feeders), slightly stiffer than the regular tournament pro feeders, but a play action to die for… 13.5 foot rod with 4oz tip in it at Earlswood as I’d heard the fish fought hard… hope that helps Malcolm 👍🏻 BB

Message received loud and clear Mr Smith! I love filming my sessions, but as you can see from this video, at times, I struggle to juggle… I don’t have any of the fancy gopro cameras or anything like that, I simply use my phone, that’s it… and it’s just me… so a video like the Earlswood takes all day to film and edit, whilst juggling a 3 year old, 6 year old and a very tolerant Wife 😂… but I really do enjoy it and love the feedback/reactions from all you subscribers too… that’s really why I do it, to help people out so they can take attributes of how I fish to add to their own style… but I hear you… more bank videos 😂 no problem if you come along and film it! 😂👍🏻 BB
