It often softens up and loses its hold. However, it’s very handy to “temporarily” lock something into place until you get trim, etc up that will do the rest of the work
I briefly touched on it in Part 1 of the interior. It is a Singer 401a manufactured in the 1950/60s. Nothing too special about it other than a good, heavy duty machine from days past.
