This is the way I use to do it, until I got old and impatient! ;) Find a good friend with either a hydraulic press or an arbor. Sure makes the bushing R&R a lot easier!! :)
I'm getting back to that parts soon. The original conversion happened in the 90's. But I have found the exact replacement parts that I need and it does not cost an arm and a leg.
I rebuilt my 57 Chevy front suspension back in 1980. I was 18 years old at the time. 2 things you have to be careful: jacking up the car & make sure its secure, removing the coil. When I finished I took the car for alignment. Bruce (RIP), a friend who did the alignment, kept asking me over and over if I did the rebuilt. I said yes. He didn't believe me. If I did it in my younger years then anyone can do it. I also noticed that steering was much easier since my car wasn't power steering.
Always try and be as safe as possible. You don't want to take yourself out of the game for a bit due to an injury that could have been avoided. Still can't fully tighten anything up yet until the front end and engine are back together so the suspension is sitting where it needs to be.
I have done alot of work on 57 Chevys years ago! Growing up I have owned over 12 57's... Parts were easy to come by and were cheap back then, not so these days. I would like to have a 57, but they are just too high now, so I got a SS 66 Chevelle car I race, tube chassis car bbc.I put the Arm in the vise and take the busings out with my Air chise gun and makes it easy and put tge new ones in with my air chise guy or my air rivet gun.
Just found your channel and caught up to date with all your videos. This is all deja vu for me as I have a 57 four door Bel Air that is nearly identical in colour to yours. I got mine in 2018 and just finally got it on the road in the last couple of weeks. As you I knew bugger all about 57s and had a go at everything myself were I could. I did as you and bagged and labelled everything as well as stealing my wifes used chinese containers with lids. It paid off as when I came to putting it all back together it saved my heaps of grief. Also heaps of photos helped. I was lucky as I had a mate who worked at a sandblasters and I got all the components I could cleaned which made a lot easier as I just needed to prep and paint. My springs were painted mariner blue lol. Keep up the good work and my suggestion is do some informative videos as I wish there had been more" how you do it videos" when I was doing my project.
Thanks for the reply! My end goal is a different color, but I have yet to figure out if i am going to get it on the road first or paint it first. I'll keep with the informative versions of videos. This one really had both informative in the beginning, then just updates at the end. Still have the captains side to do and I'm starting that this week, as well as addressing then firewall.
A friend of mine had a new black 57 Chevy, red interior, dual quads to make it go. The ladies sure like it. I had a black 50 Ford Club Coupe which was tired.
Little tip with those spring compressors. If you take the hooks off the shaft and put a large washer or two on the shaft then you can drop it down through the top shock mount upside down, so the head that you put the wrench on is where the top of the shock would be. Then you just put the threaded hooks into the spring, a couple of coils up from the bottom i.e. leave yourself some thread to work with. No need to compress the spring a whole lot or you'll just start pulling the shaft head through the washers. Just enough to where it's holding the tension. Once the arms are removed then you can safely and slowly let the remaining tension off.

Now that I am getting into actually needing some things, There are a few good shops in the US that supply things. H&H Classic and Woodyshotrod and Speedway to name a few
I prefer both, you showed your struggle of disassembly with the pickle forks while cutting all the extra. But it feels like you missed part of the story by not showing the wire brushing, painting, bushing install and reassembly. Even if it's a few seconds each. You spend the time doing it, feels like a waste not to show parts of it. Now the other side, sure you can do the magic of UA-cam and be done with a snap of the fingers.
That is true. I think there was quite a bit of work in there that did not get showcased. I'll keep that in mind moving forward. I'm trying to find a balance on content that is entertaining VS monotonous and repetitive. Thanks for the feed back!

when replacing stock front end parts only replace the bad stuff they are better quality than the replacement parts

I saw those! My funding is a the low end so I am doing what I can currently to get it back on the road. Upgrades can always be done later!
