- Welcome back to the channel. This week we tour a Mississippi junkyard that at one time had over 300 TRI-FIVE Chevys. My friends and I get a tip about a yard that has dozens of Chevys lined up next to a service road. After locating the property, we gave them a call and were shocked to find out that they had way more than a few dozen. Its a junkyard that's open to the public and it's loaded with good stuff.
I can just imagine Dan from DD Speed Shop in the dead of night wandering around swapping headlight bezels there.
He definitely needs a winter home. Lots of Canadians are snowbirds. I guess all the money just continues going towards new projects. Buying the property next door though was a definitely a good investment. Still… …a lot more work could be done while in the southern US.
Dan from DD speed shop or take one of those two doors make it into a four door. Just for a change of pace.

To anyone restoring a an all stock tri-5 Chevy , with stock suspension, try to find factory issue rear leaf springs packs, for a great factory ride. The aftermarket spring packs are nowhere the same factory spring rate, also factory shocks were not gas charged, ..gas charged, makes for ruff riding all around.
You mean Dan the butcher? The guy who robs Peter to pay Paul? The guy that jumps from one car to another and never finishes a project? That Dan?
Cmon dude! Leave some tri 5s for the rest of us!
You have anuff sparky. Lol
I thought of you when i saw all that trim😀
You can't have them all Dan... besides you'll just end up plowing snow with them anyway 😂!
All I can say is, I'm truly amazed that places like this still exist! Thanks, Dave!
Cool to see such a treasure trove of classics…but hurts my soul to see them just crumbling away.
Congrats on the channel David. I have really been enjoying it.
Go back and get that green 1958 Pontiac shown at 14:33, no matter what. That is the rarest of the rare, fuel injected model. The special trim alone has got to be worth thousands. I don't know what the fuel injection setups are going for nowadays, but I am sure it would make you choke.
The blue Anglia looks like the one Dennis Taylor built and repainted a year or two ago. Junkyard crawling is one of my most favs past times. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!!!! THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO START YOUR TRI FIVE PROJECT!!!! SOMETHING TO CONSIDER.
they put the low buck cars in doors that nobody wants the tri fives are all out in weather bad mistake
I will never understand why some car collectors would rather watch them rust back into the earth rather than sell a few. Its a shame.
I think the human psyche gets in the way of any sound reasoning
Hyup, ahm'ol fix 'er up sumday. Now GIT!
Me either brother. It’s really sad that people are that way.
@@joegirard4724 who says the guy was a hoarder? It was probably a guy earning a living repairing/resales/ used parts etc and was probably doing it long before most commentators on here were born and most of what you're seeing here are remnants of that business, who knows maybe he's still earning money from part's but that's the owners choice he owns them
@carmine redd your reply to me means nothing, how old was he when he died? What did he do for a living, because it looks like a breakers yard to me and must have been going for a long time judging by the tree growing out of the car and back when he was buying cars to break they probably worth more as parts now younger guys criticize him as if he's just hoarded them, if he's earned money from them over the years that's his business but now he's gone if someone can any of the car's good luck to them as they say one man's junk is another man's treasure but don't disrespect a man for having a lot of old car's because if he didn't have them they would probably have gone to the crusher year's ago
Tri five junkyard was amazing. Brought back memories of Clyde Deckers junkyard off hwy 64 in Silver Valley NC back in the 60s. Only back then the junk cars weren’t rusty. Hard to look at but good to see. Thanks for sharing. 🇺🇸🦅👍
When you guys first went in the building, that big pile of powerglides laying all over the place sent me down memory lane! (And I'm 31 lol).
The first and second garages I worked in were both owned/ran by old school drag racers, who spent every weekend in the summer rotating between 4 racetracks on the Canadian East coast. They raced each other often as well. First shop, owner had a 700hp '68 Dart that was strip only, coworker had a 600hp Foxbody, which was street legal and strip ready, nice cars!
Second shop I worked in, the Owner and his Daughter (my then girlfriend) both drag raced every weekend too. Her dad had a 67 Camaro, with a 1000hp +/- 509 BB Chevy, NA, with a powerglide (which ran roughly 8.0 in 1/4m). His daughter raced a full on rail car, with roughly the same drivetrain (7.77s in 1/4m). (Dad switched to the Camaro after totalling his 55 Chevy going down the track like 25yrs ago, which was built similarly to the Camaro. Daughter was also on her second rail car, after totalling the first at 200mph the year prior. Crazy)
While working there, I spent two whole weeks doing absolutely nothing, except taking apart a HUGE stash of Powerglides that her dad had stowed away and found over the years. My sole job those two weeks was to strip them down to the casings, find the best casings, organize all the parts etc,. And we built two new backups for the racecars from probably 80 units I stripped, but kept the rest for spare parts lol.
Since then, (like a decade ago), I've never had to look at another Powerglide, so to see a pile like that again, damn it was almost like PTSD lol. Kidding of course, I learned a TON working in those shops.
Sorry for the long comment! Just thought some may find the cars interesting, also not many people have Powerglides these days, let alone a trailer full of them! Lol.
Thanks for another great video Newbern! Keep it coming please, and make Finnegan sweat in his race boots a little, tell him you're catching up on subscribers! Lol.
This was an awesome video. I’m glad you guys got to check it out. I watch videos on my 65 inch tv and I really enjoyed this one.
Glad to see you made your own channel, Dave. Also glad that I found it lol
Someone needs to go through all of this and organize and document each part. Someone could be very rich and help out a lot of people restoring these cars at the same time.
I totally agree splender88
I’m not sure how rich one would get. A lot of “restoration” costs more than the auction price they get.
But for the owner of this “yard?” Someone with some vision could make a ton of cash pretty quickly by spending 5 or 6 months pulling stuff out and selling the ‘inventory.’ And a lot of happy people restoring these things would result. By the looks of that “yard” everything is at the point of decay that holding on to stuff any longer is not going to increase its value.
nice walk around being a hoarder seeing all this stuff makes me feel better about my bad habits. Great Video
It's so sad to see all these treasures just rusting away. For me it's like going to an animal shelter, you just want to save them all and feel so distressed that you are not able to protect each and every one of them.
Excellent analogy👍
Well, go save them. It's only money.
Hey Dave! This video was Awesome, just like always! Thanks for taking us along.
GREAT VIDEO DAVID!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! TRI-FIVES ARE STILL ALIVE IN 2023.
That is so weird how trees grow around and through like that!! Great tour.. thank you sir
I’ve driven by this place all my life. I was always told they didn’t sell. Cool to see it!
need to know where this is, im rebuilding a 57 210 and would love to try to pick up some original parts before i buy repop stuff
I would like know also
I'm in ms where is this
Edwards, MS on the frontage rd. Headed west
That is a absolutely insane amount of stuff, wow!
David I can definitely see you in that black and white suit 😁👍 can't believe you didn't come by and see me you guys sound amazing salvage yard full of money
Just found this. Cool. I'm the guy with the white beard, and hat with the yellow taped arm wound at the Silver Chevelle SS. This yard has been here for almost 50 years. Many a tri five left that shop back in the day to high end auctions. Work still being done, but economy dictates what one wants, or want to spend...Many of the arm chair comments crack me up...
Great video 🎉
The cow was yelling at you 😆 🤣
Awesome guys
I live in Tennessee and I've been watching all your videos bro and I finally subscribed, it takes good content for me to subscribe and you have always got it, thanks 👍👍
Such a cool place 😎 thanks for sharing 👍 ☮️
My son and I met you and Cotton at the Tulsa show, was nice to talk. That Coronet looked like it would be a sweet project. Keep the vids coming!
Awesome content
I sure could use some parts for my 1957 2 door post.. Really cool video
Thanks for the tour!
That yellow 150 reminds me of my favorite 57 from Return to Macon county. Best looking trim level by far
Are we in Heaven?I never saw so many tri fives ever in a wrecking yard like that.I thought that was kinda cool,I wish the yard was a little bit closer.🤩Lots of eye candy, indeed yeah??🤩I surely enjoyed the tour my friend?🏁R.C.🏁
That place is insane!
Dave I drive from Birmingham to Shreveport every week. If you ever need parts from there, I can haul them back to Birmingham in a box truck to save you some miles. Keep up the great videos
You have their phone #? Id be very interested in some things
Impala Chris will go crazy there .love me some tri 5 s .God bless yall real good.
Mr. B. ! good luck guys down the road with your new show, best of luck !
Cool junkyard for sure. Imagine what they all looked like brand new off the dealership lot.
Awesome episode
That's not a junk yard that is a cemetery!
Tri 5 heaven…..wow.
Unfortunately it's deteriorated to Tri5 Hell😕
Amazing ! Thank you for that ! Looking forward to more videos , and a blower......right on.
That first big block swap was great, love the channel and keep it up mate cheers 🇦🇺👍🍺🍺🍺
you're going the right way to having your own tri five farm
Very cool yard....thanks
Great video cool that you rescued another one. Can’t wait to see what’s coming up with the blower 57 heaven
I noticed at the Darrell Starbird show that the blue Angela with all the old school paint styles. I think it’s the latest car painted by Dennis Taylor.
it was nice to meet you in Tulsa
That's insane! So many tri-fives needing to be resurrected
Mr. B. ! Everything you would need ! 😮😮😮😮😮
Mr. B. Here ! OMG ! OMG ! In all my life never saw something like what you guys have showcased! You could buy car and get everthing
See that place when ever I go to Vicksburg. Always wanted to stop there but Im a Ford guy, lol.
Wow so many projects, they all need rescued!
Hey brother love the channel & contentit' absolutely A shame that those cars are setting out their wasted away don't tell freiberger and Finnegan your secret spot they'll come and buy your stuff LOL
Very cool!!!!! 👍👍
Glad to see you at rat rod bobs , love his vids
The truck had my attention lol
Just think...there are yards like this all over the US and we have them here in Canada to...lots to play with , get out and explore.
Crazy to experience this in 2023. I would have love to see it back in the day, sad to see now, lots of good parts probably gonna go to waste.
You'll need to get that C10 the one that he had the with the hauler get the hood up that would be the perfect truck for you all and don't forget to put them to Monte Carlo's on the back of it when you leave the T-top in the 71 outside that one is a cool C10 you know it was
Couple of rag top Impalas too 😎
Not just car's truck's but lot's of goodies in the yard also.
Live in oklahome over 32 years. Starbird show has the best paint jobs iv'e ever saw
You guys need to go to Woody's Hot Rods in Bright Indiana. They build Tri Fives all new from the ground up. They are authorized by GM to build them. They have any part you need to build or restore one. I am building a 57 2 door sedan all new with the exception of the frame and dash and vin plate.
Very interesting
Man that's a lot of classics
At 6:31 is a Pontiac from the same year as mine .
Mine is a 2doors sedan .
Sad too many cars are very rusty in the yard but for the good part most of them are 57 Chevrolet and many good parts.
Some few of them look alike they can bee saved ?
Nice video !
You can chase after nature with a pitchfork. But it always comes roaring back again.
~Tom Waits
First shot at Starbirds was Dragula. All time favorite from Munsters Go Home. I even built the model.
You wonder what the vision was of the guy who started this. Based on the size of the tree growing through the one car, it had to be over 50 years ago.
Alot of nice cars out there
So cool to se all the cars and parts, looks like there is a lot stil to save. Hope some has the money and time to sort out a few good patina cars :)
I love my 57 2dr hardtop but it just keeps vacuuming my wallet, love the channel keep it up.
Absolutely love the content and what you do. My question is how did you get to this point to where you are able to buy and build these cars? I work hard and can’t figure out how to fix the junk I have already. Keep up the great job and can’t wait to see what happens next.
make a youtube channel about fixing your junk, eventaully the revenue / patreon might enable you to buy a 6 pack of beer lol. Its hard man
@@gtametro I doubt anyone wants to see a rebuild of a 95 Ford Probe GT. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford to get what is needed to start a channel.
Solid Goldmine!
We got a fairlane that my uncle rolled in the mid 60's with a tree that is bending the frame big in the engine bay on our farm.
You need to bring a shop Vac, a leaf blower and a can of Raid if you’re going to buy there….
I love it
Sweet yard!!!
Big Springs Tx.. I 20 south side of the service rd. Acres of Tri 5s...
Let that Yellow car go, literally nothing left of it.
Seen the new screw blown Golden Kong sitting right behind the rail car. The 69 gold Camero.
Another gold mine
That place is unreal!! That 69 Chevelle is a real kick in the sack to let it die there. Hopefully someone talks some sense into the owner.
I want a 55 tri five bad!!
Wow, i wonder how complete that buried Cadillac is, and how much he’d sell it for. 😮😮😮😮
Some one needs to organize this stuff they could make a lot of money
Amazing yet really stressful. Makes me wanna go clean my shop
Truck next to caddy 🤩😍
There's a place like this by me on long island. I've purchased parts from him before, and im going to rescue another car from his yard when my current 57 sells. Really nice guy to deal with, but it's sad to see such beautiful cars sitting.
You should send directions to Dan over at DD speedshop.
that yellow 150 reminds me of the one from "Return to Macon County"
That old yellow 210 57 could fill those don Johnson dreams, return to macon county style
Is that DD SPEED SHOP?
I saw this place for the first time in the mid-80s, stopped multipul times but could not get the owner to sell at a then reasonable price.I live in Acworth Ga. and made the long trip visiting family in Texas.
What’s the place called?
would love to know, im building a 57 and would love to swing by and try to buy some parts@@sinister1007
Definitely a pretty cool video but sad to see some of these cars riding away. I'm looking for parts for my 1963 Pontiac Lemans it's hard to find stuff here in Alaska but maybe there's something near you?
Pretty much all you need is the door jams that have the # plate they sell everything to those tri-5's
I seen a convertible get built on UA-cam using all repop parts.
that '69 Chevelle sitting there rotting hurts my feelings. I raced 70 Chevelles on dirt in the 90s. I'm on the hunt for a 47-55.1 Chevy short bed pickup. If you happen to come across any, please hit me up.
I'd like to get out there and find a passenger door for my 2 door wagon. Thanks for sharing 👍
Damn I miss old junkyards they're hard to find anymore
As soon as I put some shoes on I'll head...wait...that's about a day's travel there. I better make a sandwich first. Thanks for the lead, David!!
