I have a UA-cam channel primarily to document my journey with cameras. Sometimes I try to make videos that will be "popular" in terms of views for the photography genre and at times, I need to remember just to document what's going on with me and cameras. So, Amboy, CA is a film I made to test filming and color grading, F-Log2, as well as shooting handheld with a cinema rig setup (see Instagram for a post: / cqkvouyu-sz . I'm participating in a One Day Doc Challenge with Art of Documentary so I needed a few projects before the challenge shoot so I can get comfortable with the setup. The lens in this project is one a rented on a whim to try something new; it's a Zeiss Planar T 58mm F/1.4 lens. I adapted the lens with a Fotodiox adapter for EF to X-mount, which has a built-in variable ND filter), pretty cool adapter! I used a Smallrig side and top hand, with a cage by Tilta, on 15" rods, holding a plate and a V-Mount battery, with a Atomos Ninja V for monitor.

Fuji X-H2s first time trying to use F-Log 2. Used a rented a Zeiss Planar T 85mm. Handheld (obviously 😅). Is it me or did this lens cause a bit of green fringing? Also, lens is very soft at infinite focus. I'm torn whether to pick up this lens or not..... Nah, I'm not. I'm going to get it.
Another note: watching on my TV I feel like the footage is more pink/magenta than what I saw when I was editing on the desktop. It's my first time editing F-Log and it reminds me of the very first time I edited F-log from the X-T4 - I really struggled.
Nice! Fuji has really accomplished something with this sensor!

wow love the shot at 0:24! colors looks great, i agree the lens does have quite a bit of fringing i probably wouldn't buy it either hahah
Thanks for watching, Kendra! I am probably going to get the lens! The fringing bothers me but I don't have any lens that can do what this does - I'm thinking it may make a good lens for interviews. It's a manual focus lens so I was way out of my comfort zone. It's used so it's not a bad price. It makes me feel inspired, even if it's imperfect.

It's a cool place. And... A benefit of stopping other photographers when you see them to make chit chat. I met a guy named Greg a few years ago out doing night photography in Los Angeles. We exchanged Instagrams and I kept up with his work. I knew he had been shooting out in the Mojave Desert before and I asked him for suggestions of places to check out. He suggested Amboy, and a couple of other places. I'm grateful he gave me a heads up!
