Yikes - do you actually care if changing camera brands is a popular move? Popularity is judged by other people. Uh, that doesn't happen to be your main criteria for choosing a camera brand, is it? But just so you know, the Fuji X-H2s is actually quite a great choice -

Purchased a X-H2S 4 months ago. In 20 years of photography, this camera feels like the perfect hybrid and I have used Canon and Sony full frame along the way.
In the process of moving to Fujifilm with two X-H2S camera bodies.
The X-H2S to me is the perfect camera ever made regardless of sensor size.

Do you mean for professional use? Is the APSC sensor enough? I know a lot of pro video and cine cameras uses super 35, but for photography full frame have more advantages

    • @RM-hy4so
      @RM-hy4so 10 місяців тому +1

@@amermeleitor I think segmenting 35mm sensors (full frame) as something professionals use exclusively is probably not a truism.
35mm sensors due to their larger sensors definitely have an advantage if you want to blur the background or shoot in very low light.
APSC sensors tend to have an advantage when photographing wildlife/birds. This is due to the field of view being cropped for the same focal length. This effectively gives you more reach with the same magnification.
Concurrently they are also better for macro because the depth of field is less. Micro four thirds sensors tends to be best here.
Smaller sensors all’s tend to scan faster and have less data to push through. So you can potentially shoot faster.
In the case of the X-H2S and especially the OM-1 excel at adventure photography due to exceptional weather sealing of their bodies and lenses.
The lenses tend to be smaller too, making it a lot more portable for hiking and wildlife photography.
So, it really depends on your use case. I have both a 35mm sensor system as well as a Fujifilm APSC.
I find that the Fujifilm’s film simulations give gorgeous colors straight out of camera.
Fujifilm and Olympus systems seem to have gorgeous colors in my view.
But it’s all personal and if full frame (35mm) sensors work for you, then you should go that way.

Well done! .. in 10 minutes.. I strive to be that on-point/succinct. I have been a Fuji shooter for about a decade and recently switched to Sony (A7IV) for a bit and then tried the Canon R6ii… after using the X-H2S. I should have never left the X-H2S and have since gone back to the X-H2S. AF of the X-H2S is 90/95% as good as the A7IV and R6ii. Colors from the Fuji are better. Build of the Canon is top notch but I just got tired of carrying all that weight. Also, if you don’t spend $$$ the quality of the Canon RF glass doesn’t match the Fuji. For example, I will put the Fuji 35 f2 up against the RF 35 1.8 ANY DAY.. Fuji wins and the Fuji 33 1.4 BLOWS that RF 35 1.8 away. Speaking of glass. Fuji wins all day.. The Fujicrons (23/3/50 f2) all shoot above their price tags. I am LOVING the 14mm 2.8.. the 70-300 is a great non-pro zoom and just as good as the RF 70-200 f4. I have owned them all.
Where Fuji REALLY wins is community.. Fuji X Weekly and al the amazing recipes… I am so sued to sharing to a couple Fuji subreddits and when I went to do so with Canon I was informed that sharing images wasn’t welcome.. they want to talk about boring gear and printers.. but you CAN share a 💩 shot of your new gear.. but just don’t post a gorgeous SoCal sunset there..
So happy to be back with Fuji.. and I am not a pro but do shoot daily and now do all of our family’s photography needs.

It's taking me a little time to get acquainted with the controls (I've had the X-H1, X-T3, X-E1 and still have two X-Pro1s)... but I'd say a week in, I agree with you that the hit rate on autofocus is super good, and I've had no issues with pushing exposure in any situation, the camera system just has many times more juice than I expected.

Great video my man! I ditched a Sony a7iv for the fuji for most of the reasons you mentioned. Most people are very uninformed when it comes to sensor size. 10 year old beliefs mixed with great Sony/canon marketing has people believing sensor size is king when in reality what’s far more important is dynamic range, rolling shutter, high iso noise, and overall quality of the image. When I say quality of the image I mean does the sensor/processor render a digital looking image or a film like image.

Wes, I took your advice & rented the X-H2S. I must say I’ve been impressed with the improvements Fuji has made. I love my XT3 and the affordability & size of their native glass. Not to mention 3rd party manufacturers. When I originally sold my Canon kit it was to move to the Sony A74. Now I have a decision to make. Full frame vs crop sensor. Fuji is making it harder. I shoot mostly portraits which Fuji is great doing in controlled environments. Their hit rate has moved closer to full frame in other settings. The issue I struggle with is they both are at the same price point. This decision is way harder than it should be!

I can always upscale the 26mp in Luminar and I feel the dynamic range on the H2s will hold better than the X-H2 and since ill be using B-RAW at times for most of my video needs It might be the right choice. Thanks for your review and all your tests.

I sold my Sony A1 and FX3 with a full set of Tamron zooms and sigma art primes for the Fuji xh2s and xh2 combo; also with a set of fuji primes and zooms. I sometimes miss the A1, that thing was a beast and basically never failed at anything I threw at it. Image quality across photo and video was always stunning.
But I’ve been very happy with the Fujis. I’ve always used the smaller xe1 and xe4 as my personal use cameras And now I can use my Fuji glass from those on the xh2 and xh2s as well. It’s really nice to just live in one ecosystem for a while across all my gear.

Thank you for this review. I couldn't agree more.
I'm a Panasonic S52X video shooter. It's a GREAT CAMERA. But I'm in the process of switching to the X-H2s. Why. For all the reasons you mentioned, especially the 6k internal Pro res recording, and I'm very impressed by the Auto focus, which is now up there with the big boys. Once that's done, the F-Log 2 is out of sight fantastic the best log codec I know of, closely followed by the Panasonic V-Log.
The Film simulations are a treasure---far, far, far better than anything Sony or Canon can offer in Log codecs or LUTs.
The X-H2s is a winner, and worth every penny. And wisely, Fuji has allowed some excellent third party lens makes to create great lenses, this includes adapters of Canon EF glass, Sigma, Tamron, and Viltrox, all have affordable excellent lenses that perform every bit as well as Fuji lenses.
I hate to sell my Panasonic, but I can't afford to keep both.
That said I have NOTHING negative to say about Panasonic. If you love full frame (I don't) the Panasonic S5iiX is the bargain of the market. But the Fuji is just better for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you’ve done some thorough research and testing before making the switch to the X-H2s. I’m glad to hear that its features, especially the 6K ProRes, autofocus improvements, and F-Log 2, align so well with your needs. The film simulations really do set Fujifilm apart, don’t they? It’s tough to part with a camera like the Panasonic, but it seems like the X-H2s is the right choice for your work moving forward. Appreciate your detailed insight-this will definitely help others considering their options. All the best with your new setup!

I just have always found the Canon so much simpler and I like that there's the option for continuous autofocus that combines "wide" and "single point" where as on Fuji it's split into two different modes. Yeah but what about the difference in price? You can get 16-55 and a 50-140 for the same price as the Canon 70-200mm, my second photographer uses the canon system and in the editing stage im not seeing any improvement in quality, if anything I prefer the skin tones and color from the fuji, the canon definitely has slightly softer creamier backgrounds i give it that, but thats the only positive i can draw, but its not something my customers look for, the Fuji 50-140 does that good enough for me and my clients.

    Nikon's new 135mm 1.8 is a whopping $2,500!! Fuji's excellent 90mm f/2, a 135mm full frame equivalent, can be purchased for 1/3 the cost of Nikon's 135m 1.8.
