- A Phd in Linguistics from the Jawahar Lal University of New Delhi, she is a political satirist known for posting short videos on social media as Dr. Medusa, not her real name.
She says she won’t be able to live a life without expressing her dissent. However, self preservation is equally important, therefore, to avoid trolling by two-rupee trolls she uses satire as a protective armour. The good thing is they do not understand my satire, says Dr Medusa in conversation with broadcaster, Pervaiz Alam.
Originally from Assam, she’s a Sangeet Visharad from Lucknow, and loves reciting Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Habib Jalib, the Urdu poets known for their poetry of protest.
Her specialisation as a linguist is in developing the diagnostic tools in the field of Alzheimer as language deficits are frequent in dementia.

I clicked on the video for Ms.Medusa. I always knew she had to be incredibly intelligent - it is sort of the baseline for good satire - but I really respect her intellect and her clear passion for her work after this interview. She's doing such important work both at her day job and otherwise and we are fortunate to have someone like her in our country!
I also have to say that you did an exemplary job in interviewing her, Mr.Alam. All too often we have interviewers who are too busy trying to interject their point of view to let the other person talk and that was absolutely not the case here.

Recently a cousin of mine was listing out many brave young ladies who are making videos exposing and criticizing this government despite potential threat to their lives, he didn’t mention Dr Medusa’s name. So I told him to see her posts. He was surprised.
She pointed out that many of her friends have changed during this regime. In 2013-14 I was telling on my FB account and other places that Muslims are waiting for a large scale massacre. Mostly my Hindu friends would say “no not possible in Hindu India”. Out of them more than 50% won’t be unhappy if that happens. Same for Palestine.
