- Опубліковано 3 тра 2024
- Rajat Sharma has been a prominent figure in Indian media and journalism for the last three decades. He is best known for his show, 'Aap Ki Adalat', 'Aaj Ki Baat’ and his role as the Editor-in-Chief of India TV. Before joining television, he was the Editor of Onlooker, Sunday Observer, and The Daily. He pursued higher studies at SRCC and was part of ABVP. In 1977, he was elected as General Secretary of the Delhi University Students Union.
In the latest episode of ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Rajat Sharma talks about his childhood, family background, and his journey to the top. He also delves deep into his friendship of over 45 years with Arun Jaitley and recalls their first meeting at Delhi University. He also discusses the JP Movement and his arrest during the emergency in 1975, explaining why he chose journalism over politics.
Rajat Sharma further shares insights into his relationships with former Prime Ministers Morarji Desai, P.V Narasimha Rao, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also sheds light on his hit show, "Aap Ki Adalat," and how its format was developed. Additionally, he addresses allegations of being labelled as 'Godi media.'

To all those people who complain about “undeclared emergency” today: please watch this. 1976 was the real emergency & nothing can come even close to it. Thanks to khangress.
How come people don't confront congressis about it.

First time I watch a show of three+ hour without break, it was amazing to watch Rajat Sharma, and I thank smitaji for inviting such people like Rajat Sharma and shila Bhatt

God man, Rajat Sharma ji is a gold mine. This interview can be made into at least 10 - 15 movies or at the least documentary. This was the best of the Podcast that you have done Smitha. Extremely happy that you allowed him to speak. He tells the story like as is.

Mr Rajath ji statements felt like reading a book. The way he speaks is so soothing to listen to.
A request to Rajath ji, please start a podcast of yours as well 🙏
What a man, What a magnificent journey. From not having food on the table in earlier days to running India's one of the leading news channels. His views on Media freedom were quite fascinating to me, i have only heard about the dictatorship-kind behavior of the current government, but he opened up a whole new kind of idea, and my take towards all these allegations has changed. He has been in the industry for a very long period and his views are very appropriate I feel. His experience is teaching a lot of things to all youngsters like me, I am also an aspiring journalist, learned a lot from him.
Thank you @ANI News for this podcast, and special thanks to Smita Ma'am for asking quality questions.
And lastly @Rajat Sharma Sir you are an inspiration to me, thank you for unfolding deep insights about the world of journalism, Best wishes to you sir.

Mr Rajat Sharma had come to the Tech Fest of IIT Kharagpur (called Kshitij) in January 2014. He gave one and half hour lecture on his life and struggles. I still remember that lecture and it continues to inspire me.
I have never sat through a bollywood movie for three hours and I sat through this 3 plus hour conversation. I live in the US and I have probably watched a total of 30 minutes of AKA show but never took it seriously. Now I am a fan of Rajat Sharma and look forward to watching his archives of AKA. Wonderful interview by you Smita Prakash and I absolutely loved the chemistry between the two of you. Thanks
Never knew the man who has been bringing other people’s stories to us had such a fascinating life story. Thank you for bringing it to us.🙏🏼
This interview with Rajat Sharma is not just a conversation; it’s a profound journey through the annals of India’s rich tapestry. As we navigate the intricate corridors of our nation’s past, Mr shrama’s insightful questions and revelations promise to leave an indelible imprint on the historical discourse. This is more than an interview-it’s an educational odyssey that will enlighten many, unraveling the layers of India’s political heritage and offering invaluable lessons from the chronicles of time itself. I feel blessed to be born in the era of "Aap Ki Adaalat"
On a lighter note you should have applied for editors job too 😂

What a good man with a great character and principles. Lucky are people who are able to associate with Rajat Sir or have him as their friend or family.
I have had immense respect for Rajat Sharma but today it has leapt 100 folds higher. He didn't share what happened to his family in Subzi Mandi after he moved to Defence Colony. I salute him for being ethical, very rare journalist. I have known many journalists closely because of my work but very rare are of his kind. Its a very long interview but enjoyed A to Z in one sitting, rare for me. Thanks.
Please convey my compliments to Pandit ji

I was a third year student in delhi university in 1977 when rajat sharma was general secretary of DUSU. At that point of time we always thought that these DUSU leaders are all rich brats belonging to financially strong background but realised now after watching this podcast the real background of Rajat. Though always admired him for his show aap ki adalat and was always impressed with the way he had the comfort of asking tough questions to all bigwigs with so much of comfort and still maintain good relations with all of them. After watching this podcast have realised that GOD has made a path for every individual and events happen in life based on such path though hard work and effort have their own place to get the rewards. Very inspiring interview and thanks to smita for making a choice to invite rajat and also thanks to rajat for sharing his life journey so honestly. Pray to GOD to bring back those times of DELHI UNIVERSITY back so that we can get a chance to experience the leadership of such persons like rajat.
I urge every ABVP member to watch and share this as much as you can...

एक बार प्यार से परिषद परिषद
only there was no need to use the word " sexy " in his first line . also i wish he had told something about what happened when he left home . did he keep in touch with his parents and siblings and helped them when he was growing in his life and doing well ? he has only talked a little about his wife . what happened to his mother who was not well and did he help his family when he started earning ?
Why only ABVP members? Every sensible person would learn many things from this website.

As a moderate level Hindi speaker, really enjoyed how Rajat speaks Hindi in clear terms and avoids complex language. Phenomenal journalist in any case.
Most ordinary people like me always believed he was an excellent tv anchor...thats all... But with this interview with Smitaji it is as if all skeltons hv fallen out from.cup board .... Modiji has indeed taken the bar to another level- his comments towards the end about Modiji are so so so true .. biggest problem of our certain sections (who are also corrupt and devious) is to create news fear with promoting lies in public and creating fear about erosion of institutions under 3rd term of BJP etc etc
However our public is not stupid they can now SEE and feel for themselves the real positive changes under Modiji which never ever happened under the previous governments to this extent and it s clearly evidenced by the data and numbers achieved under Modiji in last 10 years .. salute you Smota and Rajatji for this amazing session … watching this from Australia
I am from TN...not very cinversant with Hindi. Do watch S Prakash interviews...but not sure how I sat through this 3 hr interview. 😢I can completely relate to Rajat Sharma's poverty but I am 20 years younger growing up in similar circumstances in Bangalore. I could relate myself to VS Naipaul's "An area of Darkness". Such was the destitution that British landed us in, after a long spell of loot by British with impunity, which was unfortunately perpetrated by Nehruvian Socialism.
I could see Rajatji resisting tears in the beginning, I have my eyes wet now.

What an irony that Lalu Yadav was once a member of the JP movement against corruption and went on to become so corrupt. Bhains ka chara kha gye, sarey parivaar ko corruption sikha di aur Bihar ko bilkul develop nhin hone diya.
Smitaji, I have been following your podcast from Australia, it is kind my window to what’s happening in my country.. I do try and make my only daughter watch it with me as much as I can.. this show has re ignited the belief that our upbringing in the 70’s with these values of respect, honesty , professionalism and friendship. Really thankful for this long interview
It is not just an interview or podcast, a reverse time travel of many facets of people which are untold.
Yes
Watching from. U.S . We have been Watching Rajat ji for a long time in India.Aap Ki Adalat.Lot of respect for him.
Excellent and awesome show Smita ji. Enjoyed each and every minute of it !! I was born in Delhi and retired in Delhi from a senior position. I studied commerce from the Delhi University those same years and studied in the Law centre in the exact same years as of Arun Jaitley ji. I could connect to Rajat ji on every comment and experience that he expressed. Thanks again. 🙏🙏
Absolutely enthralled by this exceptional interview! Massive shoutout to ANI and Smita Prakash Ji for orchestrating such an insightful session and sharing a full 3-hour dive with us. I was blissfully unaware of Rajat Ji's influential connections across various political spectrums until now. This piece not only serves as an eye-opener regarding the turbulent times during the emergency but also underscores a powerful message - when you stand firm in your beliefs and aim with clarity, the sky's the limit. A true testament to resilience and the indomitable spirit of pursuing one's goals, regardless of the challenges that come your way.
शानदार interview, रजत शर्मा का interview सुन कर मेरा नज़रिया बदल गया रजत शर्मा के बारे में
The struggles which was our parents childhood. One of the best podcasts.
Smita ji, thank you for doing this podcast. By far it was one of the best episodes. Please include subtitles in English so that non Indian can also watch and listen to this wonderful episode 🙏🏼
Yes, subtitles in English would definitely help..🙏
I don't know why people call him andhbhakt or modi-bhakt, he is such a great personality.
Rubbish kumar found this word andhbhakt. Any one who appreciates Modiji is called andhbhakt as if appreciating Modiji is a crime.
These days its difficult for people to watch movies of more than 2 hrs length, but I sat through this 3hr+ podcast and it felt like a cool breeze
So smooth, so fluent, it was a breath of fresh air
Rajat Ji is such a great storyteller, really loved this podcast, Thank you Smita Ji !
Thank you for an excellent, really long, but not at all boring, interview. We have watched Rajat Sharma's shows from the time he started on TV, but very little was known about him. He just didn't come across as a person who must have led an eventful life. You really sprang a surprise on us with this interview. Such an interesting person of high principles, a highly eventful life, a rags to riches story . . . This had to be told. So inspiring for all those youngsters who aspire to earn a name, fame and wealth in an honest way. Please show this in repeat podcasts, in UA-cam shorts and on social media as much as possible. It's another story of hope & youthful aspirations, like that of PM Modi.
Yeh dil mange more. . . ❤😊
I thought I will hear this episode when I will have proper time.
It was worth the wait!
Really true and nice interview with Mr. Rajath Sharma. I am senior citizen of 68 years old and I am a regular viewer of the program Aap Ki Adalath.
But I never knew he too had struggled a lot in his personal life like me. Because I lost my father at the age of eight years old and my mother brought up all of us i.e four children me being the eldest.
I had to leave Bangalore for the sake of getting an apprenticeship training in the Kirloskar group of companies in Harihar in year 1974. From then on I struggled a lot to come up in life. I returned to Bangalore and joined a German engineering firm which encouraged me to learn German language. Then on I didn't look back in my career even today still my profession is in demand. In fact last year I worked for one of the prestigious project of Saudi Aramco with the best remuneration package. I am not a qualified engineer from any university. But still I am in the job market till date.
But after hearing the above interview I was just taken back compared to Rajath Sharma. Thank you very much for the interview program and convey all my wishes to him when you feel free. My name is Subba Rao Sathyanarayana from Bangalore.
🙏
🙏❤️
What can I say!! It was such a beautiful experience. This was not a podcast. It was more of an experience. There cannot be any public figure other than Modi ji, who can be more honest, humble and full of integrity like Rajat Sharma ji. Kudos on a brilliant program Smita ji.
Thanks ANI for covering details and not editing this to one hour. Epic.
Arun Jaitely, George Fernandes are the greatest democrats of India. Rajesh Khanna, Amar Singh and Shahrukh Khan were interesting. I liked Rajat's dedication to capture Indira Gandhi's photograph in Mehrauli temple by sleeping in the temple for days. Some interesting nuggets. This interview made my day. My father was involved in Emergency in Bangalore during the mid-1970's campaigning against the draconian emergency laws. The entire troupe of Sangh Parivar were hauled in Bangalore Central Jail. My dad was involved in the Sangh Indian Railways Union and used to receive Vajpayee in Bangalore Railway station and make local arrangements for him. My dad himself had to go underground and i have a 5 year old then.
26:12 indira gandhi and emergency. Commies and kejria should listen this
Kejri was thumb sucking at that time
Don't worry Your master will show you practically

What a fantastic interview. I'm hooked. @Smitaji, you are not just interviewing, you are recording history for future generations and telling stories that need to be told
