- This programme is in Hindi/Urdu. Senior journalist Qurban Ali made headlines when he approached his local police station in New Delhi to register an FIR against the prime minister for making communal and inflammatory remarks about Muslims at an election rally on April 21, 2024 at Banswara in the state of Rajasthan.
Qurban Ali is in conversation with broadcaster Pervaiz Alam in Cine Ink series, London Vārta, discussing why he felt compelled to take the extreme step of filing a case against the PM.
In another case, the Supreme Court is already hearing Qurban Ali v Union of India, a Public Interest Litigation, filed against the alleged hate speech at the Dharam Sansad in Haridwar and by Hindu Yuva Vahini in Delhi in 2022.
Qurban Ali has been a journalist for than 40 years. He has worked with BBC Hindi Service & BBC Hindi TV as a reporter and producer. He has also worked with Rajya Sabha TV, Doordarshan News, UNI and Ravivar Patrika.
As a journalist his first major scoop was Maliana/Hashimpura Massacre in 1987. Later, he reported on Babri Masjid demolition from Ayodhya on 6 Dec 1992.
Qurban Ali has covered the Gujarat earthquake & riots, Kargil War & Iraq War. He has reported from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, UK, USA, & UN.
Qurban Ali has interviewed VP Singh, Chandra Shekhar, PV Narasimha Rao, HD Deve Gowda, IK Gujral, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif.
Qurban Ali has also travelled with A B Vajpayee on his bus journey to Lahore in 1999.
He has taught journalism at the IIMC and MCRC, Jamia.

Both of you deserve big congratulations for doing such an excellent vedios discussion. Such chronologically traced insightful, balanced, objective, and comprehensive narrative on Muslims of India is unseen before. Representation of Muslims is a MUST if this nation wants to live in peace, harmony, prosperity. Majority has to learn to coexist with its minorities - chiefly Muslims. It is sad that so much of communal poison was pushed down the throats of majority, which will take long time to purge. How to build mass mutual trust, confidence among Hindu- Muslim should be the focus of all parties, civil society organization and corporate sector.
Otherwise, how we will survive from generation to generation!!! Multiculturalism is our natural virasat. It should not be lost. Faster, this is realized, better it would be.

Kurban bhai, loss of credibility of constitutional authorities is a bigger curse. I think in any democracy if the judiciary is in cahoots with the ruling dispensation the country is regressed by decades with every passing year on various parameters.
Very interesting programme! Just one request, kindly curtail on the duration of your discussion..45-50mminutes would perhaps be more convenient for some listeners. To spare 1.5 hours at a stretch may not be feasible from the pragmatic viewpoint of many who would be interested to give an ear to your memorable reminisces! Looking forward to your planned podcasts.
