What an amazing humanist and a very clever man.We need more people like him unafraid to speak his mind with the essential traits of of balance and common good.
That's a simplistic way to look at it. Sure, UK elites have done a great deal of damage when they were one of the world's super powers. But all super powers have that problem. It doesn't have to do with the region it is from, but with the structure itself. The Roman Empire, the Mongol Empire, USA, UK, all of them both brought great development and countless misery in their times. Sadly it's part of the game. What we have to do is look at these structures and do our best to improve them. Repudiation of the people that run these structures is a part of it, sure, as it contributes to healthier incentive context, but it is far from enough. War mentality assumes unpopular decisions are mandatory, whatever the price.

Ilan Pappe is the only man I have heard so far who offers a rational and realisable solution to this Middle East conflict (although it will take time and further bloodshed). As in South Africa with a one-state solution and one person, one vote, but with an independent multinational authority with the likes China or Russia who can come down with an iron fist on dissenters and prevent civil war. This nevertheless means imposing BDS boycott, sanction and divest by the rest of the world against Israel and USA. Since currently 95% of the world stands against Israel, with co-ordinated leadership and courage, this can be achievable.

This scenario of the development of the Zionist project makes me very curious why no prominent person ever asked the question, "What will be the fate of the Palestinians if we do this?" It's as if that question was impertinent or unimportant.
Of course, it was and still is an impertinent and unimportant question, Michael. The history of the planet for the last several hundred years of domination by the imperial countries of the Global North is the story of subjugation of the black, brown and yellow races by the white race. It is called racial capitalist impoerialism. At no point in the last more than one hundred years since the emergence of the Question of Palestine have our people ever been consulted about the fate of our Palestine. We have been seen as a nuisance or a pest that needs to be swept aside.
I don't think colonizers ever think of that. Just like they didn't ask themselves when they carved up South America, Africa, Asia, etc. It's their interests that matter and no one else's. Making money is more important than human life to them.

Thanks Professor for your bravery and truthtelling. We all stand by palestiniennes side.
Uk is fully responsible for all the mas world is going through.
Yes❤
I agree, but it is the ruling elites, not the ordinary working people
That's a simplistic way to look at it.

'The Industry of Lies is one of the greatest frauds of recent decades - a fraud of historic, even epic, proportions. When almost half of all Europeans believe that Israel treats the Palestinians just like the Nazis treated the Jews..." Abebooks.
The description fails to mention Jewish people and Jewish Israelis who think the same.
Yeshayahu Leibowitz, a Zionist revered in his time.
'Almost 5 decades ago'......Yeshayahu Leibowitz, an Israeli sage like figure of his time wrote:
"The Arabs would be the working people and the Jews the administrators, inspectors, officials, and police-mainly secret police. A state ruling a hostile population of 1.5 to 2 million foreigners would necessarily become a secret-police state, with all that this implies for education, free speech and democratic institutions.
The corruption characteristic of every colonial regime would also prevail in the State of Israel.
The administration would suppress Arab insurgency on the one hand and acquire Arab Quislings on the other.
There is also good reason to fear that the Israel Defense Forces, which has been until now a people's army, would, as a result of being transformed into an army of occupation, degenerate, and its commanders, who will have become military governors, resemble their colleagues in other nations."
He also thought Israel's conduct in the occupied territories was "Judeo-Nazi".

@@MishaShvartsman Funny that Pappe came to the same conclusions as Avi Shlaim, Benny Morris (in his first book), Simha Flappan, etc. Or maybe not so funny, as all of them used the same source material: documents from the 1940s declassified in the 1970s. @@CircaBEFORE You have to read it to understand. It covers many aspects of this conflict and not only but it has references of past similar conflicts in the world. In my opinion, if we want to bring this conflict to a respectful end where Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace side by side, we have to put our fate in the children. A proper education to the children is the solution. Education that does not promote hate but instead of human values.
I pray that what this kind hearted man is hoping for come true 🙏🏽

At best, Ilan Pappe must be one of the world's sloppiest historians; at worst, one of the most dishonest.
To give Pappé credit, he is at least honest that his works aren’t objective truth but rather his narrative - shown through his one-sided portrayal of history and twisting of facts to fit his ideology. In a November 29th 1999 interview with French newspaper Le Soir, Pappé said:
“Indeed the struggle is about ideology, not about facts, Who knows what facts are? We try to convince as many people as we can that our interpretation of the facts is the correct one, and we do it because of ideological reasons, not because we are truthseekers”.
So who agrees with Pappé? Those who hold the same ideology as him. Those who believe that Israel is an evil entity, guilty of the most heinous crimes and has waged war on an innocent people for practically no reason other than to be evil.
Those who are more objective, care about all historical facts and believe that truth is something that should be pursued, as opposed to making it fit your pre-determined ideology, should read the criticisms on Pappé to understand why he cannot be taken seriously as a credible historian on the issue.

IIan Pappe nail it. It was an excellent speech.
Well they are fine with fate of Palestinians just like they are with the fate of American Indians in North America.
The fakestinians never existed,
They were only invented in 1970s.
