Edward Said said Israel has every much a right to exist as does Palestine. Too bad they refused their own state 5 times since 36 and chose this instead. I guess they were never taught the old saying, watch out for what you ask for, because you just might get it. They are getting it now and they won't stop getting it until they return the hostages and surrender Hamas to justice. Anything short of that, is on Hamas's shoulders.
@@venantiusjpinto In 1991, following the First Gulf War, Kuwait expelled 300,000 Palestinians. After Black September, Jordan expelled thousands of Palestinians. After leaving Jordan, they went to Lebanon, where they attempted to destabilize the government, pushing the country into conflict and trying to overthrow the Maronite Christian leadership in Lebanon. The Palestinians didn’t only target Israel; they also engaged in conflicts with neighboring Arab and Muslim countries. So, leaving aside Israel, even their own people turned against them.

The ICJ clarification of July 19, 2024 states: 1Israel must leave all illegally occupied territories (Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem... Golan Heights). 2 All supporters of the illegal occupation are obliged to pay reparations (USA, UK, Germany...)
The very sad thing to consider on this genocide is that everything that occurred prior to it is somehow forgot and not mentioned anymore. Yes the genocide is on a scale not seen before on camera, but we must not forget what Israel has done prior to this horrible year. We must not forget that there has been no real peace treaty; as they were violated immediately. We must not forget the world has just watched before and America has always sent money to fund Israel. For Palestinians it is another day sadly, even God has turned a blind eye towards them. I pray that this changes soon.
It's not a genocide. A Genocide requires intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group. 2 Million Arabs live as equal citizens in Israel. The Arab population in the land since 1948 grew more than five-fold from under a million to over 5 million today. The Gaza population increased by 2.02% or 43 000 people since Oct 7th 2023 (source: CIA world fact book). Around 40.000 dead are not a genocide, especially not when nearly half of them are enemy fighters who did hide within their civilian population. The civilian casualty ratio in Gaza is probably 50-70% (roughly 1:1-1:2), which is unheard of in urban warfare. In conflicts like those in Aleppo (Syria) or Mosul (Iraq), the proportion of civilian deaths often ranged much higher, even reaching over 80-90% in some estimates. You simply cannot prove intent with those numbers.
"The question is what right we have to a democracy over here that exacts the price of Genocide in defence of apartheid over there? ". Ta nehisi coates.
American public opinion, because BOTH parties are still supporting Israel, will be the LAST to adjust! Academia is usually at the forefront of huge issues like this, but because of political intrigue and manipulation, Freedom of Speech is under attack EVEN there! 20th Century McCarthyism: That's the perfect nomenclature. That is exactly what it feels like. Universities need to emerge from the "we've always done it that way" anchor and stand up for what is right!
I was truly impressed by Professor Rashid Khalid's commentary and his book is a great look-up for me. I know for sure that Geopolitics assumes the geography of any state like location, topography(land sceneries), population size, and it all affects very significantly the politics of that nation state. (Israel's 8,630 square miles or about the size of New Jersey). In political and economic related issues no one can guess anymore about its Geography to be the source of both opportunities and constraints because of its actions today. Can they really have a two-state political order that won't clash with Language-barriers? (who did not understood because of the language barriers), where communication about the most important goals in any political system: 1-Nat'l Security, 2-Nat'l Stability, and not least, 3- Nat'l Prosperity, Is it all ignored? Can they accomplished at least some Middle East Peace treaties? This is leading to different explanations of a state's behavior toward other states and themselves!
Imagine having lived through the HollowCost and saying "I'm not political" or "this situation is complicated." Unacceptable, right... Now imagine doing that in the internet age. Whoever remains silent now will be spat in the face by their grandchildren.
This already tops the holocaust. For the simple reason that no one was making excuses for it back then. While here, it's happening in plain sight of those that have the power to stop it, but they don't do anything about it. And that's not even taking into account the decades of suffering that resulted from the occupation. This atrocity we're still witnessing is simply the natural progression or evolution of the impunity afforded to Izrael.
The Arab population in the land since 1948 grew more than five-fold from under a million to over 5 million today. The Gaza population increased by 2.02% or 43 000 people since Oct 7th 2023 (source: CIA world fact book). The world Jewish population today is still below what it was in 1939. Comparing this to the Holocaust in any way for the simple reason you can see some Pallywood videos on TikTok and X/Twitter is nuts. It's a war. If you're really a soldier you should know what this translates to... and it's not a holocaust. It doesn't top the Holocaust in any sense. You're delusional. Kurdish women are currently taken as "Sabīyah" by radical Muslim fighters in Syria... it happens right before your eyes. I'm sure you're already mobilizing to protest this in the streets. Free Kurdistan!
unfortunately, the coalescence of mass projection, dehumanization, "soft" violence, lack of justice, the children's books and elementary pedagogy, the full-out cartoonish racism, and the conflated and violent speech and incremental arc of violence, are all on a trajectory. In a nation (US), where we are actively excusing and covering up our own genocides (multiple, over centuries) and chattel slavery (400+ years) and the economic, social, and "cultural" tools and institutions that have been weaponized for the entire history of the US, all occur in cycles, steeping, simmering, seething, erupting - without ever getting at the roots. In a nation that has horrendous amounts of violence and gaslighting and normalization, from our families of origin whose value systems are highly spurious and injurious to a well-ordered society, the amount of SA / DV occurring in our intimate partnerships, to wage theft off the rails, tax evasion and bizarre "tax code" (weaponized), wholly disingenuous myth-making in history and whacked math in economics (missing some massive variables and some completely unsupported assumptions), we are easily positioned, set off, set up, pitted against each other, morally, ethically compromised. SO much social violence, that we have layers of vernacular which create elaborate justifications for these systems of oppression that thrive in "colonial justice" thinking, and the wide gap of that model and the lack of mutual accountability in our diaspora (the in-country refugees of economic modernism aka indentured servitudes) in communities, affiliations, so-called BNI and professional networks, neighborhoods, and these issues love and enjoy projecting our own assumptions on others, imposing the punishments we fear. The requirement of American exceptionalism to find and off-gas its own dynamic internal conflicts and foist its genocidal energies onto other theaters of "conflict" and impose its "policy" mythmaking (othering, pulp policy production of pseudo-analysis, the pretense at superiority and the language that works in American conversations "begging from ignorance") - we will indeed be the last to realize just how complicit, diabolical, and intentional (most certainly pre-meditated) our coups and forever war approach has been. It's a necessary coverup. Its a profound distortion to keep a population ignorant, distracted, entertained, and sold out for a completely specious self-image that relies on consistent propaganda which has its own firewalls (thus, the attack on First Amendment rights across US universities and public discourse for decades). It is humiliating that we should be so willfully blind.
In all this time the Palestinians have never threatened to kill the hostages, torture the hostages, mistreat the hostages.... The palestinian hostages in Israeli captivity have been raped to death, tortured and humiliated. These peoples are different...intrinsically different.... Ireland has a general election today. I'm voting on two issues, housing and passing the occupied territories bill. @@Jg32234 we're a small country sure. If we pass that bill and the EU tries to sue us over it, it would have a big impact on the discussion in europe on divesting from Israel. @abram8874 oke, what do you call the responsibles of occupation and apartheid and siege and blockade for 76 years or the thousands of palestinian people and children held hostige in Israël without any charge or trial
@naymatunc-rc6vs why just conveniently going back 76 yrs. The history of the Jewish people is rooted in that land for 3000 yrs . 1500 yrs back Moh-mad waged war against the jews and took over their land. Now Palestinians can wait 1500 yrs to regain it.
@abram8874 who denying this reality there were always jews in middle east the war of HZ MUHAMMED (SAW) was between two people not like what happens now a so called Israël against unarmed civilians and children
It's sad that there had to be so many deaths to just even change the perspective of people. How callous and stupid humans are and yet many of these are the powerful/influential ones. How can we not let these types of humans dictate the way we think?! Intelligent people are not necessarily sympathetic to humanity or wise or intrinsically good natured. We need to distinguish this and value more on wiseness rather than intelligence.
Great Interview. The comment section leaves me wondering why people, esp. Israelis and their bots, and the U.S. people still supporting this massacre and hoping Trump will do worse.
Hamas Started this so called Nakbar in Oct. 7th. just like the Arab started the previous ones. The onus is not on those winning the war to stop the war. but of the loosing side.
People are quick to reference U.S. colonial projects and European colonialism and it's immorality, then use it to make moral arguments...but until these people acknowledge and reference the mighty Muslim Conquest of Northern Africa and the effects on the indigenous people of those areas...as a person of African descent I will always be suspicious. It will seem to me that land rights and indigenous status is subject to interpretation by one oppressive group in response to an even more oppressive group...and moral consistency is therefore nonexistent.
Yes, Netanyahu has used this as an excuse to do every awful thing he has wanted to, including huge displacement which is a war crime. Sadly, the far right in Israel currently has unchecked power, and the world is thinking all Jews and worse all Israelis support this, which is not true. That said, Hamas did this to their people and have been more than happy to let them die. It was aparteid, and while awful, aparteid is not genocide. They could hand tried to negotiate or start diplomacy again, but they chose terror, and made Netanyahu relevant again. Both are awful and there will be no peace until they are both gone.

Now just curious !! Is there a country that anyone can name throughout history that is able to let’s say put acts, resolutions, bills etc into other countries governments that dictates what can and can’t be said about said country I that in introducing said act, bill, etc into others governments?
I don’t know of any country prior to just , what 4-5 months ago , when it was introduce to our Government( really it was introduced in 2019) her in America.
Weird right!!!!
I honestly think this is about destabilizing the entire area and giving the US an excuse to go in and secure the oil reserves...Israel is just an agent provocateur,
a maniac one,
but it serves its purpose, and that is the US plunder of other peoples resources.

His objective is always to excuse & legitimize Jihadi beheadings and other barbarian war crimes.
It was never about the hostages, it was never about Hamas. It was always about ethnic cleansing and genocide
it is about racial supremacy as the premise for land theft.

LOL.
Well said! Thanks to you both.

Very refreshing interview! Thank you!
Great Video - Thank you - I shared it!!!!

You're delusional.

unfortunately, the coalescence of mass projection, dehumanization, "soft" violence, lack of justice, the children's books and elementary pedagogy, the full-out cartoonish racism, and the conflated and violent speech and incremental arc of violence, are all on a trajectory.
In all this time the Palestinians have never threatened to
kill the hostages,
torture the hostages, mistreat the hostages....
The palestinian hostages in Israeli captivity have been raped to death, tortured and humiliated.
These peoples are different...intrinsically different....
God forbid it should happen but I'd prefer to be a captive in the Palestinian nation than a captive of the Israeli one.

7 oktober didnt happened without a reason
@naymatunc-rc6vs it did not happen for a reason, it was an Islamic terrorist attack on Israel to conduct a Genocide
@abram8874 oke, what do you call the responsibles of occupation and apartheid and siege and blockade for 76 years
or the thousands of palestinian people and children held hostige in Israël without any charge or trial
@abram8874 who denying this reality there were always jews in middle east the war of HZ MUHAMMED (SAW)
was between two people not like what happens now a so called Israël against unarmed civilians and children
@@naymatunc-rc6vs Jews suffered much more than now , that's the reason they had to excile
Inshah'Allah Palestine will be Free❤
Yes, Netanyahu has used this as an excuse to do every awful thing he has wanted to, including huge displacement which is a war crime. Sadly, the far right in Israel currently has unchecked power, and the world is thinking all Jews and worse all Israelis support this, which is not true. That said, Hamas did this to their people and have been more than happy to let them die. It was aparteid, and while awful, aparteid is not genocide. They could hand tried to negotiate or start diplomacy again, but they chose terror, and made Netanyahu relevant again. Both are awful and there will be no peace until they are both gone.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Thank you, Marc Lamont, for having the distinguished scholar and author Professor Rashid Kalidi, "The Hundred Years War, " Columbia University on. Another book in my library. I have heard him several times, and his observations are accurate with wisdom, if I may add.
Please have Dr. Marandi from Iran on, who may offer inights to this situation that also allows all the problems of the Middle East with their interconnectedness, and there are others who understand .
This was an excellent interview, and I thank you both.
Free Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. May leadership come forward for all humanity to become a better world.
We are looking at nuclear war, its seconds and inches away if someone doesn't get their "ducks in a row."

Joe Biden was seen with one of his books today!!! Just decades too late!
Probably a heavily redacted version in which Israel is portrayed as the victim….
This is important. 😢

Magnificent discussion, thank you. For anyone who hasn't read Khalidi's book, The Hundred Years' War On Palestine, do read it! Essential background. Both questions and answers in the above discussion were so clear and illuminating.
We're just getting started.
It's a Palestinian holocaust
Great conversation and history lesson. Thank you
