have y'all noticed how he talks of being gone=dead,i think he'd made mind up what he's going to do.,strange huh? the end of part 6,ive never seen.,& again ty so much for putting this back on.
From time to time I have had the feelin that I missed my callin' - but never more than watching this video. I'm going to remember that a piss pot is 50 gallons.
I think I'm going to write a cookbook/how to book commemorating Popcorn Sutton's little tricks... for instance "best dam biscuits" - 1/2 wheat bran, 1/2 rice flour and water, or "best dam cough medicine" - honey, candy, lemon juice, pepper, liquor. This guy gives out so many little tips and tricks throughout these videos! Everyone could learn a thing or two on how to live a little cheaper and easier off Popcorn's advice!
Damn the feds and damn the justice system for driving a harmless old man to his grave. There’s way worse people out there but they wanted to make his life hell
I also would rather die of cancer at home then in prison....Mr Sutton you sure sounded like a good man, making moonshine was just a way of life....Thank you for your Documentary.
He laugh was so youthful. I love his got damn laugh. How many videos you think Popcorn made saying “This the last run I’ll ever make”.😂 “This the last Steel I’ll ever make” “This the last Pot I’ll ever light”😂😂😂 lying son of a bitch gotta love him
just a note, in popcorns presence alcohol seemed to behave exactly as he commanded, but for everyone else, please don't smoke over an open barrel of mash or freshly brewed open jar, or with hands covered in moonshine, it just doesn't end well
You can use an old water boiler, they have a copper kettle inside it (only the older types) and make an excellent basis for your still. Just take the boiler apart, remove the insulation, clean it from the inside with some acid, and then rinse it with clean water until you can't smell the acid any more. When you did all that, you should throw away the result of the first run (use water for that one), cause it can still contain some acid, and you don't want to drink that. Good luck distilling
I don't mind the delay, as you can see I don't check my inbox all the time either :) The boiler I am talking about is an electric water boiler for domestic use. From the inside it is just a large copper pot with a electric heat source in it. That makes it ideal for distilling when it is clean. I found mine at a scrapyard, but I guess that just an ordinary plumber would have some second-hand of them in stock as well. The brand Inventum (Dutch brand) is known to have good quality pots inside
@dlmsuperdave The toxic components have a lower boiling point and come off first. This is why the first bit is discarded, once the system is up to temp these toxic chemicals have already passed and result should be near pure.
Thanks to the dislikes, it looks like we've got a joint up there, cool! I have to ask, why the dislikes? He was most likely a kindly old man, didn't hurt anybody who didn't already know the effects of the likker, knowing the risks. I'm in the North unfortunately, and when I'm down south there's friggin dry counties!!! 0_0 No beer in my fridge? I'd be PISSED! So we take a truck full of beer to the holler lol But we'd usually get a Moonshine hook up in return, no supply even to wait for :(
@stratcat70 i had heard that his charges also had something to do with possesion of a firearm as wel, not just moonshine related. I bet it was just some old hunting rifle he had sittin on his mantle for 50+ years that barely got a monthly glance or something.. (Thats just how i picture it in my head.. lol) as for a little, well I believe his first bust involved like 800 gallons or so the rumor goes..cant see him having that much at once tho.. lol Popcorn is legendary! lol
@skaterdude1553 Methanol is WOOD ALCOHOL. and is something you can actually go out and buy. It isn't a direct by product of ethanol production. Anytime alcohol is produced, a small amount of methyl alcohol is made right along with it. Sugar, water, and yeast are not going to ever produce toxic amounts of methanol. Even using corn is fine. Before toxicity levels were known, methanol was added to moonshine to add kick. You can't produce toxic levels of meth. while making shine unless you try to.
@1979coyote They shouldn't laugh if they've never tried it. The paste is to keep the acidity levels up when making a simple sugar wash. I obtained the information from the video series "Making Moonshine volumes 1 and 2". I've tried it. It works. It's actually the only specific recipe that you learn from both videos. The only absurdity would be one who has never done it or has heard nothing about it calling it absurd. It's used in a simple, sugar based wash that turns out as a simple rum.
@WildlifeSeriaLKiller am making 1 gallon as a tester. its sugar, water, and yeast. but i was wondering, will it make methanol. if so how is methanol made? is it just from the corn?
He was just lying for the camera. He didn't want the law knowing he was still making shine in large amounts. This was filmed in 2002 and he was still running his stills until 2007. Had his still house not blown up, he never would've gotten caught or killed himself.
@dlmsuperdave Are you kidding me? Just stick to sugar, water, yeast, tomato paste, 3 lbs of potatoes, and yeast. Can't go wrong. And no matter how you make it you aren't going to make anyone dead or blind. That came from old timers who used old radiators and added methanol to make it stronger. Best beginner recipe is to use 20 lbs of sugar, 6.5 gal. of water, and one package of super yeast. Follow directions on super yeast packet
If people listen to your dumb ass they are in deep shit. Do you really think moonshiners throw away the first few ounces for the fun of it. My dad was probably the second best moonshiner only to popcorn and he used that first few ounces to start his fires in the mournings. Believe me he didn’t waist it for the fun of it.
i adgree but nothing will brang him back now so nothing we can do about it now he said therewill be no more moonshine around after 5 years well there still is its called white liquar/whiskey so he will always be right its going to white wiskey rip the best
@jonnboy1234567890 Mr. Sutton committed suicide on March 16, 2009 after being sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison. He had been recently diagnosed with cancer and wanted to die at home as opposed to a jail cell. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The yellow corn malt he adds turns into and acts as yeast. They usr that as a all natural way to start the chemical process instead of buying yeast. Does the same thing as yeast.
I hear you.. thats how pathetic our gov't is.. let serial killers and child rapist go w/ a slap on the wrist.. but a innocent man who made some shine they had 2 make him kill himself... what comes aroudn goes around..
My grandfather loves popcorn, when he found out he died, he bought a copper still and started making shine in his memory! R.I.P popcorn
I know I'm quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?

From time to time I have had the feelin that I missed my callin' - but never more than watching this video. I'm going to remember that a piss pot is 50 gallons.

i really love it at 5:20 , all out in the wood, bugs, ants and birds everywhere, so wear a glove to prevent the paste to be contamined..
I would pay know to make some shine using popcorn's recipe!!
Popcorn: "This is the last run of Likker me and J.B will ever fool with"
Narrator: "This wasn't their last run of Likker"
Theres nothing better that tastes better than home made lol''
I wonder if ol' J.B is still around? He seems like a cool guy himself.
I don't mind the delay, as you can see I don't check my inbox all the time either :)

The Automatic Captions have gotten allotttttt better from 8 years ago.
Yes, I couldn't have put it better myself. R.I.P Popcorn.
in case the wash gets through the thump is a catch man
if.every criminal was like these guys we wouldn't need police or jails
@dlmsuperdave The toxic components have a lower boiling point and come off first. This is why the first bit is discarded, once the system is up to temp these toxic chemicals have already passed and result should be near pure.
i could not of said it any better.
Thanks to the dislikes, it looks like we've got a joint up there, cool!

👍
do you happen to know where these water boilers might be found? sorry for the delay btw, and thanks for the advice!
does anyone get the eerie feeling he knew what he was going to do when he made this? i get the feeling he keeps hinting at it...
he said yellow corn malt which is basically it's sprouted corn and they use it for the yeast in it!!!!
He said a few times that he wouldn't be alive within 5 years he knew before the video what he was gonna do!
@stratcat70 i had heard that his charges also had something to do with possesion of a firearm as wel, not just moonshine related.
I bet it was just some old hunting rifle he had sittin on his mantle for 50+ years that barely got a monthly glance or something.. (Thats just how i picture it in my head.. lol)

@TheWmartn420 I use a simple set up on a stove top. Glass pickle jar and polypropylene tubing.
@WildlifeSeriaLKiller am making 1 gallon as a tester. its sugar, water, and yeast. but i was wondering, will it make methanol. if so how is methanol made? is it just from the corn?
...and when it gets steam and heat up there...it gets harder than a ministers pecker!! :O ;)
@jonnboy1234567890 no that show is using clips from this documentary, they explained that he is dead and are showing him as more of a tribute.
does anyone know where to get a big copper pot like that? do you have to make it?
what he talking about when he said tempering it with water brings the proof down. 8:40
What does tempering mean? How does he temper it?
what is the purpose of the middle barrel, in my country we have the furnace and the worm.
it mostly adds flavour. You put the backends (tails) from the last run in there. he used two gallons in this one.
@Southernjuggalo63 You are WRONG. Google is your friend.... it isn't hard to find.
to seal any joints that need to be removable.
That's even worser.... RIP Popcorn...
I bet when popcorn left in this vid he was smoking a doobie
Whats a good simple pot i can home make? Would a beer keg work?
Yes
Mega is correct. You are basically distilling it twice to raise the ETOH content.
have y'all noticed how he talks of being gone=dead,i think he'd made mind up what he's going to do.,strange huh?
@Morthund You got the best way of living like me farming me some meat, milk and eggs
may popcorn sutton RIP
I would pay jb to make some of this using popcorns recipe!!
Children, cover your ears at 03:55!
thats just a piss pot popcorn your the man
old timers thought wild yeast tasted better. Some belived that there was yeast in malted corn.
When you realise Popcorn was talking about his planned suicide 2:40 now thats a sobering thought... RIP best moonshiner that ever lived.
He was just lying for the camera. He didn't want the law knowing he was still making shine in large amounts. This was filmed in 2002 and he was still running his stills until 2007. Had his still house not blown up, he never would've gotten caught or killed himself.
He killed himself 7 years after this so i don't know what you are talking about.
Copper or stainless steel? I've found that stainless is easier to keep clean, but copper kept clean has the best flavor and yield. IMO
Stainless steel, but buy some copper sheet and get it inside, easy to clean and the best flavor. dont reuse the copper
so what is the paste (wheatbran/flour) used for?
So sad...swan song
was he already facing time when he made this?
POPCORN DRANK OG LEAN STOP PLAYIN ION LIKE ALCHOL IMMA POUR A 4 FOR THE DEAD HOMIE POPCORN REST UP OG
See the steam comin outta there? Thats likker imma losin!
9:04 I wish I could get some of his for 100 a gallon..

@voche68 actually the laws are to keep everything safe and honest.
i would pay $100 a gallon all day. shit i pay $50 for a half gallon of jack daniels
@dlmsuperdave Are you kidding me? Just stick to sugar, water, yeast, tomato paste, 3 lbs of potatoes, and yeast. Can't go wrong. He died like 2 years ago.

no your wrong friend cause now its called white wiskey go the tennesse and buy it at a liquar store
You can, but you don't have to
@Southernjuggalo63 No. Carbon Monoxide poisoning killed him.
@jonnboy1234567890 Mr. Sutton committed suicide on March 16, 2009 after being sentenced to 18 months in a federal prison. He had been recently diagnosed with cancer and wanted to die at home as opposed to a jail cell. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
@gullreefclub thanks!
is J.B. still making liquor?
and fiddle he did..hence i wouldn'y wrote this story
@jonnboy1234567890 all the clips on moonshiners are from this dvd and other interviews with him.
is J.B still alive?
I thought you needed to add yeast to the mix? he says it's just Sweet Corn and Corn Meal.
