Entering scientific notation on a TI Nspire CX calculator

You can also use that 10x button if you use brackets though ;)
Actually, you can't. That button is actually the inverse logarithm button and should only be used for that purpose. Although you can trick the calculator into treating it like exponential notation by using brackets, it is not something you should rely upon since the calculator is not actually treating it as scientific notation.
Do know how to make the input stay as scientific notation? For example, when you entered 5.37E6, the input was changed to 537000. I want it to stay ad 5.37E6.
The Nspire automatically flips it to standard notation if it can fit it in. The only way to see it for answerrs is to go in to document settings and set it to something like "Float 3," but I caution student to not do this since they might be seeing a number rounded off to the incorrect number of sig digs.
From the home screen you can also choose settings and then document settings. on this screen go to the options for exponential format and choose scientific.

thank you so much i couln't get the numbers to be display in scientific notation even though i messed with the document settings for engineering and scientific. and still displayed the numbers with all the 00000's
The EE button should be ladled SN for scientific notation
The EE goes back to the history of calculators before they could handle scientific notation. If you entered numbers that had a result that had more digits than the calculator could display (often 8, sometimes as high as 12) it would show "EE" to let you know there was a display error.

Can you explain how to get your calculator to spit OUT scientific notation? My Ti-84 had an engineering mode. I don't see an engineering mode on this calculator.
In the settings try to set it to a value like Float 3. This will force the calculator to round off to three digits, which can often result in sci-not being shown.
Ohhh what in settings? Like what do I cange it to? Which value?

It will not show the correct sig digs, it will just show the answer. It is the responsibility of the student to keep track of sig digs. I would also point out that in your example there would be no decimal places (by sig dig rules), so you should record 1373 as your answer.
The reason is that the rules for counting sig digs are not in reality as simple as we present in a regular high school class. in higher level courses it is necessary for the person to judge how many sig digs apply to a final answer. A calculator can not make that judgment.

GT932 some people call it a significant digit, while others call it a significant figure.
Its a sig fig. This is the first time I've ever heard somebody say sig dig.
It's really about location. In most parts of Canada we will call it a significant digit. In the USA it is more common to say significant figure. There are similar differences between what Canadians will call brackets and parenthesis compared to USA.

I'm sorry you didn't find the video helpful, but it does cover exactly what the title says... how to enter scientific notation onto a ti-nspire calculator. What you are asking for is how to make the calculator display scientific notation answers. This is something completely different, I agree, which is why you can't be disappointed in a video that has a different title.
I also disagree with you that what most people need is to force their calculator to show scientific notation answers. In over 25 years of teaching one of the major ways that I have seen students get incorrect answers and lose marks is because they simply cannot enter scientific notation values correctly into their calculators in order to get a correct answer in the end. Being able to see a value in the end shown in scientific notation can be helpful, but is not the major reason that students are losing marks.
There are several ways to do what you are asking for, but it partly does depend on what software update your nspire is running as well as the type of calculation that you are doing. From the home screen choose settings, and then document settings. In this screen change display digits to something like float 3; this will force the calculator to always show three significant digits and if the answer is either too large or too small it will display scientific notation. If that is not a method that works for you, then you can instead go to the menu on the same screen for exponential format and change it to scientific. This will force all of your answers to be given in scientific notation.
There are many people out there that can help you with your questions, but calling an unrelated video "worthless" is not helpful to anyone. In the future simply ask for help in specifically the topic that you need.
