When I first heard of chess it was a movie called searching for Bobby fisher. Since then it sparked a new found love for chess. Pretty much self taught with only one thing in mind which is protecting the king. As years went by I learned little by little. Fast forward to now I’ve been watching your videos learning each time I watch. So thank you for sharing your knowledge of the game to everyone that’s willing to learn.

Favorite player, after GM Igor Smirnov, must be Mikhal Tal. He is probably the one that made me see chess as something that is fun, and he truly illustrated the concept of focusing on active pieces instead of total pieces.
My favorite player is Leonid Stein, the guy was just insane with his dynamic ideas middle game, with a lot of positional sacs. Still believe his ideas were ahead of his time, shame he left us so early 😔 Keep up the great content Igor!
My favourite player of all time is hands down Mikhail Tal, infact he is the reason I started to love chess so much, before I knew chess but did not enjoy it much but after seeing Mikhail Tal's game I was like he is the man I want to become like, aggressive gameplay, great tactical sacrifice. Loved the watch him play with my second favourite player Robert James Fischer aka Bobby Fischer. They were just treat to watch.
My favourite player is Bobby Fischer. It was his 1972 World Championship tournament against Boris Spassky that got me interested in Chess in the first place. I followed his games after I had learnt enough to understand chess and I was amazed at the simplicity of play but tactically ingenuous moves that quickly got the opponent in a bind. Capablanca is certainly my second favourite player of all time!
José Raúl Capablanca y Graupera was the third World Champion, reigning from 1921 until 1927. Renowned for the simplicity of his play, his legendary endgame prowess, accuracy, and the speed of his play, he earned the nickname of the "Human Chess Machine". Capablanca‘s style also heavily influenced the styles of later World Champions Botvinnik, Robert James Fischer and Anatoly Karpov. Botvinnik observed that Alekhine had received much schooling from Capablanca in positional play, before their fight for the world title made them bitter enemies. While not a theoretician as such, he wrote several books including A Primer of Chess, Chess Fundamentals and My Chess Career. Capablanca was truly fantastic individual on many levels. I learned humility in Chess... “You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player.” Chess became my real life passion because of Capablanca inspiration. And thanks to GM Igor Smirnov I' learning to understand deeper Capablanca's heritage!
Capablanca was truly one of the very best & most accomplished players that I love. I have a great book by Edward Winter titled " Capablanca, A Compendium of Games, Notes, Articles, Correspondence, Illustrations and Other Rare Arshival Materials on the Cuban Chess Genius José Raúl Capablanca, 1888-1942" FREE
Favorite player? I was born in the 1950s, so Bobby Fischer all the way. During his world championship run I was vacationing with my family in the parks of the western U.S. and I insisted on going into town after match days to get a newspaper with the game score. Brought a set along, of course, to play through the game. It was a great time to be alive and be a chessplayer (or, as I still am, a patzer). The match captured the attention of the entire nation, and participation in the game soared.
Thank you for your very detailed explanation of the Tennison gambit with many of its pitfalls and traps. My chess club meets tomorrow Saturday and I can’t wait to play this gambit.
Me Smirnov! Your videos are always a delight to watch. I saw many new lines in the ICBM Tennison Gambit. Just loved it thoroughly. Keep the good work up. Huge supporter and admirer of the channel. Always on my suggestion list to friends who wanna learn substantial stuff in chess
Awesome to see your doing a giveaway! My favourite chess player was my Grandpa, the man who got me into the game. I would love the opportunity to keep learning and hope I can be my son's favourite chess player. If the choice was for my favourite known chess player I would choose Magnus. Truly We are watching history and amazing chess right before our eyes.
I grew up in the '50's and '60's so I am very much a Bobby Fisher fan. My brother would get what we now call a "news letter" showing all the moves he made. When Spasky took Bobby's rook and Bobby just moved his pawn so Spasky could not escape, my bother almost went "Orbital!"
When I was young I enjoyed the games of Paul morphy. I used to read a lot but that was back when we had English notation which I still prefer because well it's better. Thanks for the great videos!
My favourite chess player is IM Levy Rozman. He made me bring back to chess after a 10 year break. And obviously GM Igor Smrinov for his detailed explanation of every video.
My favourite player is Tigran petrosian sir He plays amazing chess He is a master of positional chess and he rarely losses and my another favourite player is Vishy Anand sir he inspired many players to play chess in india ad i love how he plays so fast and makes the correct moves and those amazing tactics
I never once occured a position where I had to use the tennisons gambit to its maximum as shown in this video (they usually transpose into something else before I can develop the attacking ideas) until today. Thank you Igor for allowing another successful win.
My favourite Chess player is IM Eric Rosen and also I like GM Igor Smirnov because of the same reason: the (first) play and ( the second) teach chess for the mayority of us: the normal people (from 0 to 2000 elo).Thank you very much for your videos.
I appreciate your lessons. Watch almost all of them. They have improved my game by pointing out obvious but often overlooked moves. Thanks. My favorite is a little girl called Pinkamina, I think. She has to be about 8 to 10 years old and is shown on a UA-cam channel of a chess club. Anyway, cheers.
My favourite chess player is GM Aman Hambleton because I'm a casual player who hasn't read up on theory and history, but enjoy the entertainment and music choice of his streams and think he's quite a down to earth guy too
I’m still relatively new to chess so I don’t know many of the historic players. My favorite player is Daniel Naroditsky. The way he explains the game so simply makes it easier to understand for a beginner like me.
Hi, great video, thanks! I’m playing this gambit for quite a while in blitz games. Unfortunately I have to admit that only a few players fall of the trap. My favorite chess player is Mihail Tal, the Latvian magician. I love his combinations!
Great content….even at 71 can enjoy the lines. Two greatest players for me…Kasparov…a legend…and larjos Portisch who I played a game with many years ago…yes I lost but he had the good grace to spend time with me showing where I went wrong…I add he was playing 25 others at the same time!
My favourite player is Robert Huebner, long forgotten by most chessplayers by now. But he did not take a back seat to Magnus when it comes to originality. Some of his games, while not necessarily spectacular, were mindblowing with respect to the ideas informing some of his plans.
Congrats on hitting 150K! 🥳 It's a late birthday present for you. 🎁 Bobby Fischer's 20 game win streak makes him my favorite. But his 'original', haha, respect of Morphy led me to watch all of his games, and now I'm enjoying all of Jose Raul Capablanca. Thanks for the giveaway!! 💥👊🏻♟💥
My favorite chess player is Wesley So. He is a great chess player and human being. Wesley is kind, honest and humble. I love playing endgame and I think Wesley is one of the best endgame player in chess history. He can outplay anybody in endgame even Magnus who is considered the goat.
My favourite player of all time nomination is Alexander Alekhine. I enjoy playing the Alekhine Gambit - 1. e4,e5 2. Nf3,Nc6 3. d4,ed4 4. c3,dc3 5. Nc3...( or 5. Bc4... ). This gambit has elements of both the Scotch Gambit and the Danish Gambit where I can quietly develop to a point when I can play Qb3 or similar move which on many occasions dashes any hope of Black castling.
For me my favorite is mikhail tal i am blown away by his games especiallt when i was just starting chess i knew how complicated it was and from there i learned so his pretty much my inspiration for chess and the fact that I've never in my life acquired a chess book
My favourite player is Anatoly Karpov. I love his playing style. I have studied his classics and I was so impressed with his positional play. Now i too love positional chess.
My favourite chess player is Wesley So. He is the reigning Fischer Random World Champion. He is one of the most talented chess player in chess history. He is a great chess player but also a great person. As a person, he is kind and humble. He always praises his opponent in victories and defeats.
My favorite player of all time is Garry Kasparov. I simply love his elegant way of play. I always study his games from the database. I enjoy studying your courses it really built my interest in chess and got the thirst to improve my game.
I have been subscribed because of your great content and style. "Sven Magnus Øen Carlsen", for the fact he has shown he can pull victory out of the jaws of defeat on numerous occasions...which is the opposite of what I do many times. Thank you. 🖐😎
Bobby Fischer: Not the longest reigning World Champion but amazingly creative and at times, unorthodox. Don't forget his undefeated run at the 1963 US World Championship.
Hello,My name is Ei Shwe Zin Oo and from Myanmar,I am a chess player. There are a lot of chess players that I like most.Among them,I like Hikaru a lot,he is funny,he plays really good in every game and he feels happy for what he is doing and he always smile while he is streaming. Thus why,I would like to become just like him.
On move 13 the best move for black is knight takes C2 check. It's not an easy going for white from here. When you discuss the trap discuss the risk as well.
My favorite is Rashid Nezhmetdinov, but got to give love to my other favorites Anatoly Karpov, and Alexei Shirov. Also, thanks for this lesson. This is a fun gambit to play!
Personally I love moving the King's Pawn forward one space as it gives the queen and bishop attack lanes in one move. Then follow up with the pawn in front of the Queen's Knight forward one or two, with the Queen's Bishop forward one which threatens the Rook on Black's King side.
Paul Morphy. I loved the way he attacked. Not sure how well his style would hold up in today's chess world, but something about his style captivates my chess brain.
Wilhelm List from Chess friends online is my favourite player...I love the way he thinks and handles any situation that's thrown at him...Awesome chess player !!!
The greatest Player is Bobby Fischer, absolut impresive life and his story is so interesting, This could only happend in US in the 50's. Sometimes i wish i could had lived in this time, maybe as a time traveller.
Igor sir. I am a chess player and I like the way you teach and analyze positions. They are really helpful. Can you please share some of your games that you played against GM Gary Kasparov?
I enjoyed the video I'm definitely going to be playing the Tennison gambit. My favorite chess player is Gary Kasparov his calculations are out of this world 🗺️😊
Hi Igor, nice video again. Already liked it. As always it is explained in a very clear way. My favorite player is Michael Tal, especially for his attacking playing style. Please keep on making this kind of quality video's. It´s so much better then the videos from all these new chess streamers posting on UA-cam. Regards, Marc
As eager as I was, I couldn't draw anyone into a Tennyson today at the club- maybe next week. I seriously can not pick a favorite player. There are so many amazing players and games. I could go with any of the finest of the fine - Morphy, Fisher, Tal, Magnus. But there is more to chess than Just brilliant winning, brilliant drawing, and brilliant excuses why you lost. Sure there've been swashbucklers like Blackburn, and sportsmen like Pilsbury. Fisher gave chess a big turnaround - financially and for the US spirit. Kamsky and Ivanchuk are prodigies still in the world class of play that haven't won world championship (yet). Gary Kasparov, equal or better to those mentioned used his chess fame politically for Human rights against a government that spurned Reshevsky, Korchnoi and many other greats or would be greats. So Go Gary!
I find it strange that almost no one chooses Carlsen. He's definitely my favorite player, Magnus stands on the shoulders of all the past great players and.even brings his own new ideas. Clearly the best player for me.
My favorite player is Bobby Fischer , meantime i do enjoy your comments of all game , I think you gifted person to explain chess tactic. thank you for all your help.
Why didn't you show the variation where where you can win the opponent's queen in 8 moves? I play e4 as white and I often go for this trap against the Scandinavian defense: 1. e4 d5 2. Nf3 dxe4 3. Ng5 Nf6 4. d3 exd3 5. Bxd3 h6 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Bg6+ Kxg6 8. Qxd8
My favourite player of all time...hmmm difficult one. I will go with Gary Kasparov. I especially respect him for his 960 strength which proves his ingenuity, creativity, spontaneous originality and all round ability.
My favorite chess player of all time is BOBBY FISHER of America. His Ruy Lopez play against Boris Spassky was outstanding when Bobby Fisher defeated him to become the world champion!
My favorite player is Josh Waitzkin. For his early style as a boy when he created "chaos on the board" Also because he wrote an amazing book the Art of Learning.
my favourite player was rashid nezhmetdinov and mikhail tal, rashid's game almost always won the brilliancy prize and tal;s sacrifices put his opponents in a dark forest with only one path out of it wide enough for 1 of them

All time favourite, Garry Kasparov. That game with Topalov in 1999 Wijk aan Zee still amazes me.
GM igor Samirnov by far gives me the passion & makes me to try harder in Chess & i also look into GM parham maghsoodloo
My favourite is Spassky. If not for his gentlemanship & sportmanship (to continue playing Fischer), the world of chess will not be the same.
My favorite player is Bobby Fischer , meantime i do enjoy your comments of all game , I think you gifted person to explain chess tactic. thank you for all your help.
Why didn't you show the variation where where you can win the opponent's queen in 8 moves? I play e4 as white and I often go for this trap against the Scandinavian defense:
1. e4 d5 2. Nf3 dxe4 3. Ng5 Nf6 4. d3 exd3 5. Bxd3 h6 6. Nxf7 Kxf7 7. Bg6+ Kxg6 8. Qxd8
Wow! Tennison gambit is very good. I think I will play it more often. Thanks Igor
Nice. I was just thinking about what to try against the Scandinavian. Oh, favorite chess player is Capablanca.
For his early style as a boy when he created "chaos on the board"
Also because he wrote an amazing book the Art of Learning.
Most an awesome player. Retired too early.
I wonder what other things he has on his table.
Bobby Fischer, extremely sharp play and love his aggression over the board
my favourite player was rashid nezhmetdinov and mikhail tal, rashid's game almost always won the brilliancy prize and tal;s sacrifices put his opponents in a dark forest with only one path out of it wide enough for 1 of them
My favourite player is Garry Kasparov, dominated chess through the late 80s and 90s with his attacking play and was a master of complex positions.
