I've been trying to figure out why I'm so attracted to Igor's videos....I think his voice is so clear and understandable, I mean he doesn't say any unnecessary things...kinda hard to explain but I just love to hear him talk.
I really appreciate how you have been making your content for so many years. I like the video format that you switched too as well. Thank you. I'm also glad to see how your subscriber count has grown. 👍👍
I thought that too. After Bxf6 black moves pawn h6 to prevent the instant checkmate, than Qg4+ Kh7 - Qg7 #. Black also has Bxf6 Be3 left, than Qg4+ Bg5 - Qxg5 #.
Puzzle of the day : No, because black has the option to block with Be6 and you can no longer take with your Knight and have to exchange your strong bishop for their weak one. Secondary answer would be that you would close the position further rather than leave the E file open for your rook for more attacks. That's my honest answer without looking at any
No acually, white can play Qh5 and threat Qf7# and Qxe5 forking the knight and the king. Black must play Nd6 to defend both threats, white captures the pawn and have a big lead in development. I think also Qe7 works
I think after QE5 you can't save the knight. It is very tempting though. But whenever my king is exposed on diagonals or has backrank issues I always double check any move for an incoming queen check/fork.
T3, after Nxe5 black can take take the pon next to the king, king takes, then check with Nxe4, and if kind doesn’t play Kg1 then you can check it with queen or make a queen ruck fork with the knight. In this way black has all the chances to win
I have always found your videos very helpful in my journey of chess. I have learned allot from your courses that I have purchased. The latest HOw to think like a grand master. Great.
@@GMIgorSmirnov I am trying to learn this, with all the variations, regarding the counters Wow,, so much, I keep blundering at times. Rush, dont review the entire board. Mouse slips, that is a buster. But thankyou for you great teachings. May Jesus bless your entire family. Amen
AS I have stated before, I have and am learning tons. My question, when I use the bishops opening. My experience at 90% that I have had played against me is Nc6, leaving d4 open for black leaving a real mess. This is my continued experience. So the blitz aspect is hard to pull off. Any suggestions. I have viewed your bishops opening tape, 22 minutes long. Great by the way.
what if, in the first example, black plays bisshop to g4 instead of the knight? Black attacks the queen now, and it looks that white can say byebye to it's trap.
Instead of Bishop to c5 they went pawn to d5. Wasn't sure what to do after that and couldn't adapt the strategy. Does it still work if the e4 or d4 pawns are gone? I find that beginners like me don't make the moves that you state experienced would likely make and focus on simply trying to take pieces even when they don't come out even or on top, which causes these strategies to shift dramatically.
trap 1: most people with common sense you use the pawn to defend (g7 pawn) ... and stockfish says its -2 or more for white ... so yeah, low risk = nope, you are giving up your rook for almost nothing
Just thoroughly enjoyed it like all other videos of yours. It is the best addition to the Bishop’s opening video GM! I love your content and keep it referring to my friends
Knowing a bit about statistics, by the 4th time you say "Black will usually play this move", from my rough calculations, the probability the game will have gone that way would be 4.56% probability.
I used to be in chess club in Middle School. And now I am in my late 20s just getting back into it. I've been losing like crazy, after watching this and your black E4 trap I've won the last six games 🤣
I've just won 3 min blitz with the first opening. Identical line; very powerfull! After black knight attack on f2 and black castle there's no defense! Thank You Master!
Here is a short game I actually played. It points to a weakness in the Bishop’s Opening: 1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Qh4 3. g3 Qxe4+ 4. Qe2 Qxh1 5. Qxe5+ Kd8 6. Bxf7 Qxg1+ 7. Ke2 Qxc1 8. Qe8#
Thanks for this. Your analysis and videos will be the reason i shall finally be able to reach _the ultimate goal_ in any chess career. To defeat my own father 🤣
Interesting opening, because I play similar system that club chess players do play these moves sometimes or you can improvise if they deviate. Games e4-e5, Bic3-G8f6, Bc4-Bc5, try a3-B8c6 best for me White {or O-0, or D6 all work) Then Knd5 or knh6 ok also, so F6- X E4, Knh6 - D6, d3- Bxh3, gx h3 yep! - Knxf2, and Qh5 - knxh1, Bg5, Qd7, White Wins against any defence even Fritz 5. You can play this as Black aswell works even better. I beat English female ranked 12th female in England, as she played very logically and all best computer moves. As me Black 4th move Bic3 is best for me, 0-0 is good for me, D3- more tricky. And if someone plays BB5 can do A6, Ba4- b5 ,Bb3- Bc5 to get into Italian system. Then Knd4 or can do Knh6.

The only issue I have with these ‘traps’ is that the people I play against don’t ever play their pieces in the way that an experienced player would.
Lols 😂 same her bruh I have played many chess players especially Russians and Ukraines, plus Dutch players basically what I do is try to get the pieces in those positions
Me toooooo
The idea is not to memorize the traps but understand the common strategic plan. You can only prepare against the most expected moves anyway.
I have the same problem; good to know I'm not alone. 🙂

Excellent opening helpful traps - great tutor - very clear explanations

Igor Smirnov is the best teacher. Great content.
GM Igor what if after white moves to QH5 abd Black replies Pawn G6 what is the white's best move
The best move is resigning,jk
Bxf7+ perhaps?
That looks great- I wonder though at 2:54 what happens if black pawn to G6? It seems like a likely play and an easy escape
G6 missing a good opportunity to resign. Just take everything and check mate
@@DTLification how?
At 4:19 Qg5 is already a checkmate right? Im new here so im wondering if im missing something
Great video, just wanna add that @ Trap1 at the end Qg5 is an instant checkmate, there is no Qg7 after all!! Keep up the good content!! Cheers!
I thought that too. After Bxf6 black moves pawn h6 to prevent the instant checkmate, than Qg4+ Kh7 - Qg7 #. Black also has Bxf6 Be3 left, than Qg4+ Bg5 - Qxg5 #.
Scrolled just so I could see this comment and that I wasn't going mad. Haha
Thank you so much for helping us!
Outstanding. Thank you
I'm almost playing this opening. I got 28 winning games in my 28 game. This is effective tactic. I love this opening.
Thx for this video :) Easy to understand, easy to memorise. The first trap was really great fun to play! Subscribed.
Bishop's opening is my favorite, grew up playing it. Thanks for the insight GM
2:53 What about pawn G6 here to kick the queen out?
Gonna memorize this and implement it in bullet chest immediately, thank you!
Good job keep going with this tempo
Great vid, but I would like to know the black perspective, how to avoid or counter aswell for the 1st trap
thank you - great session/tip
@ 4:12 isn’t Qg5 check mate bc bishop covers the dark square?
Fantastic bishop moves; is great.
15:59 I think black should do Qa5+, then take the white knight and maybe play Bg4 (I didn't bother to think so much).
great real stuff for today reality !!!!!!!!!!
Puzzle of the day : No, because black has the option to block with Be6 and you can no longer take with your Knight and have to exchange your strong bishop for their weak one. Secondary answer would be that you would close the position further rather than leave the E file open for your rook for more attacks. That's my honest answer without looking at any
0:40 doesn't that allow the center fork trick? Wouldn't it make more sense to switch the move order to not allow that? eg. e3, Nc3 etc.?
I agree, e3 first and then Nc3.
No acually, white can play Qh5 and threat Qf7# and Qxe5 forking the knight and the king. Black must play Nd6 to defend both threats, white captures the pawn and have a big lead in development. I think also Qe7 works
Smart guy
Thank you for those tricks
Thanks for awesome videos 🙏
Glad you like them!
Very useful defination god bless you,
Hi Igor. I have a question for you. What if Black plays g6, instead of 0-0, at 3.03?¨Thank you so much.
At 4:12, with black to move, ...Be3 prevents Qg5 (which would be mate already, as others have noted), but Qg4 would be mate, no?
Ya i was also thinking the same
1:42 What if black decides to take exf4 instead and not to move the Ng4?
at 5:14 what if black brings the queen and gives check to whites king?
g3...
Grandmaster, what you recommend after 3. Nc3 Nxe4 ?
Thank you brother for this ❤️
Really enjoy your videos!
At 4:08 would that not already be checkmate after Qh5 to Qg5
Thanks
we love this high quality content
Nope, Nxe5 is a bad move, because then opponent can go Qa5, check and take the knight on next turn
thnx
@Well Utopia puzzle at the end 15:50
Just saw bishop blocking it the attack and thought no
Nice find
Tolong jngan ada teks bahasa indonesianya, karena malah nutupin langkah² bidak catur
Please teach us some winning openings for black too. Thanks.
in the frst example after you play f5 instead of black playing a knight to f2 black play the move Qh2+ which i think white is in the losing position?
Hi. Good Channel. But 4:10 after Q g5 the Queen needs no next Move to g7, because Black is already checkmate and got no possible Moves!! 😉 😊
thats the comment i was looking for.
I think after QE5 you can't save the knight. It is very tempting though. But whenever my king is exposed on diagonals or has backrank issues I always double check any move for an incoming queen check/fork.
Did you mean Qa5+?
@@MikkoRantalainen Yes. Silly me :)
press like first and then watch the video... guaranteed perfection from Igor as usual.
I love the cat in the background 😸🤗
What is a pawn to g6 is pushed to block the Queen’s diagonal instead of castling by black?
Good question. I had the same thought. There are sharp lines for bth sides after that point and I’ve only encountered one that was good for White.
Do video on Black side also
thanks to you
6:55 pxN pxB ... is better result for white i think
Mistake - before black play the knight the Queen play h4 😃 (g3, Bf2, Kd2 or e2, Bg3x...)
These high-win-rate opening videos are AWESOME!
Well, but what about the movement ...g6 in 2:55?, what about the move ...f3:Ne4 in 8:00?
Merci .
Hi teacher, respect.
After the queen moves to H5, what if Black doesn't castle but simply moves g7 to g6? maybe f5->f6, f7->f6, WQh6, BQe7, then?
Was wondering the same
There’s a funny line after Nd5 black goes c6 Bg5 then Qa5+ which forces repetition when Bd2 and the queen goes back to d8
T3, after Nxe5 black can take take the pon next to the king, king takes, then check with Nxe4, and if kind doesn’t play Kg1 then you can check it with queen or make a queen ruck fork with the knight. In this way black has all the chances to win
OMG it worked very good i check mate someone with this trap

OK, looks good - but what happens if (at minute 3:00) instead of castling the opponent pushes the G7 pawn to G6? Nice cat. :)
What chessprogram is that?
Instead of Bishop to c5 they went pawn to d5. Wasn't sure what to do after that and couldn't adapt the strategy. Does it still work if the e4 or d4 pawns are gone? Thank you sir, you have helped me alot imporove my game
the first trap, at the last move, when the queen moves to g5, isnt it already checkmate? why the queen need to move forward to G7?
What happens if instead of black castling, it moves pawn to g6 to block the queen??
Same thought
At 4:05 would Queen g5 (or anywhere on the g file) not be checkmate right there? Bishop covering escape?
Are the examples from the lichess database?
Earned a sub xD
Personal experience regarding *traps* is that most rarely work against other experienced players; simply play the person reactively.
@Well Utopia more often players *(trying to trap)* focus on trying to set traps they ignore their opponents.
i love your videos 😎😎🙂🙂👍🏻👍🏻
03:00 what if black plays G7 to G8

At 4:09. You put queen to G5. Why is that not check mate? In my opinion you do not need to move an extra time to G7.

At 4:10...that's already check mate! What happened GM Igor? no next move needed.
Great.
what if on 7:07 the pawn captures the knight ?
Knowing a bit about statistics, by the 4th time you say "Black will usually play this move", from my rough calculations, the probability the game will have gone that way would be 4.56% probability.
Knowing a little more, you don't multiply probabilities when events are not independent.

but D5 can be enpesant right?
The issue with moving the knight there is that after black defends with bishop the knight is not Threatening that square anymore
