The reason why the issues have multiple stories in them that don't connect with each other is because that's how SatAM cartoons work. A 30 minute slot for a cartoon usually has 2 episodes with two completely different plots. Chris believed this is how entertainment worked so he copied the format.
This is also why he calls comic chapters episodes, and uses various other TV terminology that doesn’t apply to comics, like applying TV ratings to the amount of censorship on sonichu 8. He also tries to imitate visual effects that only work in audiovisual formats like cartoons. as well as calling issues 0-10 the first season, as opposed to arcs or parts. IIRC, some people believe he did this because he thought the comic would work as a storyboard/framework for a future TV show adaptation. TV adaptations of comics are obviously a thing, an anime adaptation of a manga is good at marketing the manga, but these are obviously very different mediums, and nobody writes a comic just so they can get a tv show lmao

I mean I literally made my DND party re-enact the final boss of Sonic Adventure 2, colony drop included, WHILE ON MOTORCYCLES. And was one of the favourite moments for my players. It's all about being self aware of your own writing. Something that Chris Chan lacked.
I thoroughly disagree with the people who say Chris would’ve been fine if there was never any internet access, because the root of Chris' awful behavior and entitlement is Bob and Barb. There would have been a chance of a normal life if he was raised by different parents, who at the VERY least would've known to restrict internet access at the start of the Encyclopedia Dramatica Era, and instilled an understanding of boundaries before the beginning of the Love Quest. He might have still been egotistical and delusional, but at least no one would've gotten hurt

They'll talk about how creepy he was towards women, but they didn't mess with him as some sort of punishment for sexually harassing people. They can try to justify catfishing him because he deserves it for treating others horribly, but that wouldn't have taught Chris anything in order to improve. Im not gonna lie at all when i say this but early Sonichu was and still is really quite nostalgic and has a kinda child like charm to it that i like. If chris chan didn’t turn into an irredeemable villain and ignored the trolls then i genuinely think it could’ve turned out quite well and maybe even had genuine fans. The reason sonichu is so interesting to read is because its the ramblings of a madman meanwhile other comics like “Tails gets trolled”, where the creator is being very ironic and knows what he is doing, is enjoyable because the writer is just taking the piss. I will never get tired of hearing people talk about the Sonichu comics. Every single mainstream anime cliche from the early 2000's mixed together written by a guy who knows nothing about how to do the hero's journey. Its great.
One angle I find interesting to analyse Sonichu from is as what happens when a chronically uncreative and incurious person attempts a creative endeavour. I'm not sure there's a single original idea in the whole comic (except for the stomach wrenching 'anatomy' lessons). The entire comic and everything in it is a pastiche of surface level pop-culture references, pornography tropes, and real people Chris liked or had a vendetta against. In that regard, it's kind of impressive

They see it as bad (probably compulsive moralizing plays a role in this as well), don't understand why, and then just make stuff up as "reasons" to fill that void. The negative of this is that you end up with reasons that aren't the actual true reasons, so you end up shifting your view of fiction to see certain things as bad when they aren't. This is extremely common in people with creative desires but not much intelligence.
Going into this I was expecting something like Neko Sugar Girls... but oh boy was I wrong. The difference between Sonichu and Neko Sugar Girls is that NSG intentionally leaned so far into being low quality and weird that it became iconic and enjoyable whereas Sonichu is just genuinely some of the most delusional nonsensical bs I have ever seen lmao. They're both hypnotising in their own way.

And you know what? They’re actually funny. The characters are entirely his own despite being clearly inspired by Sonic, but I’ve never seen anything quite exactly like them and they’re actually funny. He had pretty good comedic instincts as a kid. He’s talked about starting them up again and I’ve offered to be his color artist if he does since I’ve moved on to painting. I'll be honest with you; I originally never actually saw much of the Sonichu stuff after the Xmas Special. I kinda just treated that one as the epilogue to all the issues everyone knew about. And honestly, if not for you abridging Sonichu 12 and 13, I never would have gave it a chance. Seriously, those issues are like the, "Command & Conquer 4" of Sonichu; we don't acknowledge it as canon or any of the, "good ones". The fact I found your take on those stories palatable should be a compliment.

I thoroughly disagree with the people who say Chris would’ve been fine if there was never any internet access, because the root of Chris' awful behavior and entitlement is Bob and Barb. There would have been a chance of a normal life if he was raised by different parents, who at the VERY least would've known to restrict internet access at the start of the Encyclopedia Dramatica Era, and instilled an understanding of boundaries before the beginning of the Love Quest. He might have still been egotistical and delusional, but at least no one would've gotten hurt

@allanredhill8682 The way I see it, almost none of these trolls or weens really cared to make Chris change for the better. They'll talk about how creepy he was towards women, but they didn't mess with him as some sort of punishment for sexually harassing people. They can try to justify catfishing him because he deserves it for treating others horribly, but that wouldn't have taught Chris anything in order to improve. As far as I'm aware, nobody bothered to explain to him why he was even being messed with, and his terrible actions were just a coincidence that made some trolls feel like they could keep going
I like the people who add commentary to lolcows like Club Doom and Kiwi Tapes because, while they make jokes about whoever they're discussing, they don't go out of their way to screw with them (except Earl but he's a special case for accusing Smokey of being a pwedatow).

Im not gonna lie at all when i say this but early Sonichu was and still is really quite nostalgic and has a kinda child like charm to it that i like. If chris chan didn’t turn into an irredeemable villain and ignored the trolls then i genuinely think it could’ve turned out quite well and maybe even had genuine fans. The reason sonichu is so interesting to read is because its the ramblings of a madman meanwhile other comics like “Tails gets trolled”, where the creator is being very ironic and knows what he is doing, is enjoyable because the writer is just taking the piss. One angle I find interesting to analyse Sonichu from is as what happens when a chronically uncreative and incurious person attempts a creative endeavour. The entire comic and everything in it is a pastiche of surface level pop-culture references, pornography tropes, and real people Chris liked or had a vendetta against. In that regard, it's kind of impressive

They see it as bad (probably compulsive moralizing plays a role in this as well), don't understand why, and then just make stuff up as "reasons" to fill that void. The negative of this is that you end up with reasons that aren't the actual true reasons, so you end up shifting your view of fiction to see certain things as bad when they aren't. This is extremely common in people with creative desires but not much intelligence.
Going into this I was expecting something like Neko Sugar Girls... but oh boy was I wrong.
The difference between Sonichu and Neko Sugar Girls is that NSG intentionally leaned so far into being low quality and weird that it became iconic and enjoyable whereas Sonichu is just genuinely some of the most delusional nonsensical bs I have ever seen lmao. They're both hypnotising in their own way.

The sincere lack of self awareness and obsessive behavior makes for a unique combination that isn't seen in your usual creepy fanfiction.
I don't know how exatly this fits but: It sounds like reading Sonichu is like watching a high-speed collision between a train driven by children, and a pinto cruising wagon filled with literally nothing but eggs.

No cause I made a Sonic fan comic when I was 14 with my two other friends, and I didn't finish it cause Covid basically f ed up my mental health and I had other projects i wanted to work on I've started working on it again just for fun.
8 year old me made a self insert based on the Mario and Luigi series and the Newgrounds Sonic RPG games that was better than Sonichu.
However, just like my childhood dreams, they died in the trash.

I'll be honest with you; I originally never actually saw much of the Sonichu stuff after the Xmas Special. I kinda just treated that one as the epilogue to all the issues everyone knew about. And honestly, if not for you abridging Sonichu 12 and 13, I never would have gave it a chance. Seriously, those issues are like the, "Command & Conquer 4" of Sonichu; we don't acknowledge it as canon or any of the, "good ones". The fact I found your take on those stories palatable should be a compliment.
I know Ben is no Saint (f**k I didn't mean to pun I swear) but his thing is actually an interesting look into Chris's madness as basically Ben had Nightstar in like three panels as a joke and Chris was into it and all was good until Chris who reminder at this point believed every fictional character was real and alive decided to commit genocide on the denizens of Ben's comic just cause he didn't like them being violent in a world where death is normally impermanent and fun but Chris decided to kill them all.
Surprisingly Dubbing this series was a lot easier on my mind than reading them all by myself!
