      Have theft light flashing, have to turn on key and jumper the small terminal to hot on the solenoid to start it now. My right side door lock solenoid is weak. Could that be my anti theft issue? Can a faulty actuator cause anti theft no crank on a 97 F150 5.4?? Was snowplowing and got stuck. Got yanked several times and drove to the garage shut it off. Friend opened passengers door and alarm went off. Astrostart bypasses anti theft normally and now not even the astrostart will disarm it.

    I prefer to use a ¼x20 bolt with a nylon locking nut. Makes it easier to remove if you ever have to, again.

    Is it possible that the lock actuator can be a problem for the automatic locks not working? I know both of my switches and key fobs work and I can hear the clicking noise everytime too

      +criticalpunk301 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

    I have a loose wire with a round circular plastic piece. It round on the outside the center is empty but hexagon shape. Where does it go. 98 f150 style side regular cab?

      Search for "1999-2003 Ford F-150 THEFT light decoding" or something similar and you will find instructions for troubleshooting the Passive Anti-Theft System. You should also check that the inerta switch has not been tripped. It's behind the kick panel on the passenger side. Rough roads or handling can trip that switch and it might also trigger a PATS code.

    I have a '97 F150 but notice a number of differences from what I see in this and other videos. Some not that important, such as specifying certain bolts were, say 11mm, and they turned out to be 7mm. Things like remove two hex bolts to remove the plastic panel, yet mine had no hex bolts, just flimsy plastic tabs that broke. Plastic is not a long term material, yet when it snaps or fails can be very expensive to fix or find the parts. I had a very difficult time drilling out the large rivet because I couldn't center the bit, and unfortunately really ended up mangling the area with a cold chisel, pounding, and lots more drilling. I think it's a very poor design to use a rivet here for a replaceable part like the actuator. I had to really slice up the moisture barrier covering, which will need repair. Seems like the access holes were different on my door, unbelievably difficult to reach in there, etc. Instead of the rivet I ended up using a hex bolt steel-epoxied to the bracket, and will cut off the excess later. I tried hard to be sure to order the correct actuator for this model/year F150, when it arrived the box says "Lincoln Navigator". Anyway, lots of problems, this is not real easy. I simply cannot understand why Ford would not provide better access holes, or make part of the steel cover removable. Anyway this video is helpful, just surprised when things can be so different even when the year is correct. Btw, there was never any prior work or modification on my vehicle, this panel had never been opened before. I have a feeling that my local Ford dealership service area would charge me like $700 to change this actuator!!!

    I replaced both rear door lock actuators in my 2001 Ford SuperCrew. However, now I cannot open either rear door from the inside when the doors are locked. Almost like the Child Locks are permanently in the locked position. I haven't been able to find any videos or tutorials in regards to replacing the actuators on the rear doors of the Super Crew to see if I did something wrong in the process. For the most part it was the same process I used to replace the actuator in the front passenger door but I don't have the issue of opening the front passenger door from the inside. Any help here?

      Have you made sure the connection from the hinge to the inner door handle is okay?

    Is this the same process for a 1999 Ford F150? I think the part looks a little different on your website.

      +Lucas Nicholas It may be a different procedure on your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking. 1aauto.com

      You put the same part back in. Get a new part and try to change bracket onto the new one. That's the hard part. At least for the part I got.

    Can a bad door lock actuator prevent a lock from locking?

  • @toddalbright6422
    @toddalbright6422 6 років тому +4

    2001 F150 supercrew has almost zero access to get to the actuator. You can't even see the actuator it's in so deep. I think you would have to cut an access hole to get to it.

    You never tested the door lock before replacing actuator to show lock wasn’t working. You never tested the door lock after installing new actuator to show lock mechanism actually works.
