- We're back with Episode 6 of A Hat in time and you guys were screaming in the comment section because i forgot this boss fight back in chapter 2

10:47 Fun fact for you Mike: The boss changes depending on who won the award. For you, since DJ Khale- I mean, Grooves won you fought him while the conductor helped you defuse the bomb. If the conductor won you would've fought him instead while DJ Grooves helped with the bomb.
5:17 the boxes are full of plot devices. Maguffins are things that only exist in a story to trigger a plot, but don’t usually have anything to do with the plot. For example, the ring in lord of the rings could have been any corrupted object, not just a ring, so it’s a macguffin. Chekhov’s gun is based on the idea that if you show a gun at the start of a movie, someone must fire it by the end. Essentially, it’s saying to only introduce things that will be important later in the plot, in order to avoid confusing the audience.
The term "McGuffin" (generally) means it can't directly affect the plot either; the One ring granted powers and abilities that aided the protagonists, while also serving as an obstacle for them by manipulating people to want to keep it for themselves, when the quest was about destroying it.
I thought it was Mcmuffins from McDonald's
Chekhov's gun is a theatrical idea where if you show a weapon at the start of the movie, someone must use it at the end, otherwise it would be a very boring movie/show. (I took theater, dont judge me)

If you're looking for yarn I recommend going back to Subcon Forest (chapter 3, in the bedroom). The map is pretty big and there are several areas that never get explored if you focus on the main missions (the wildfire area, several areas around the outskirts, more of the poison swamp).
And there's tons of yarn there!
Little note for you to know later on: You do need the Time Stop hat for a lot of the end game stuff, you actually need it for that last act in Mafia Town
you dont actually need it but it helps a lot, all you need to do is follow the path with a scooter
This game was always a fun, joyful game for me. I even like the sort of easter eggs they have! There's quite a few, but the one that stuck out to me was the "Disturbing/Scary noise" you can hear while in your Spaceship hub.
If you'd like to hear it yourself, you'll need about 20 minutes of your time.
First: Go to the audio settings and set the music down to 0% to hear it when it happens.
Next: Go to your bedroom where you started your game and just stand around on top of your bed.
Lastly: You're going to be waiting 20 minutes for this. And the 20 minutes START from the moment you load INTO your spaceship hub, so document the time well. You can turn on a "Game timer only" setting in the gameplay setting part of your options if you want to see the time more accurately. Wait and listen in carefully somewhere between 18-22 minutes of when you loaded in and you should hear it nice and clearly. It's typically exactly 20 minutes from loading, so just be sure not to miss it.
If you don't want to wait for it yourself, you can always look up this "disturbing noise." It's real and still around. Tested it yesterday.

Well Michael it literally says after the award ceremony when you try to leave the world 2 room the phone rings and tells you to return to the first act it makes it very clear you just didn’t listen to it
Edit: also depending on who you make win the award ceremony is who you fight when I played I made the conductor win and I had to fight him pretty cool
And I think the conductor makes more sense to be the boss because he is purposely annoying an rude to gay kid an DJ grooves is actually nice to her so his my opinion

Btw Mike those purple time rifts are important to collect those pictures bc they tell the backstory of which world you are in ( if there's a time rift in Dead Bird Studio it's the backstory of it then)
Not really a tip but I thought I might share it! If you ever decide to play it again on a different save file for the dead bird studio chapter's finale boss changes depending who wins!

19:31 The area with 20 pieces is Nyakuza Metro. You have to go through the green door (Alpine skyline) and find the door with a chemical flask sign (you will need the dwellers hat to pass through and the ice hat to fall through the manhole..

A MacGuffin is a item (or items) in a movie that are so important the plot revolves around them. A checkovs gun is An item introduced in the first act and brought back in the third act to be used, usually as the solution to a dangerous problem. By the way you talked about them it seemed you didn’t know what they were, so I’m sorry if this felt condescending.

I fought the Conductor in my playthrough. It's still amazing how you can fight 2 different bosses in that world.
So interestingly, the time stop hat is NOT actually required to beat the game, it can just be helpful at points. Also PLEASE do not use the time stop hat on the final boss because it makes things very anticlimactic.
Edit: The hat is required for some dlc areas though.

I think a fun little hint you should know Bijuu Mike is that off you hold down your umbrella Kamehameha until it has 3 stars you will fire a big red blast. But if you hold it down for a second or really short time a smaller blue beam will shoot out. The blue one goes farther than the red beam, but the blue beam does less damage than the red beam.

Hey Bijuu, as a first time watcher of this game, I think a really good way of viewing the worlds and levels is a lot like how Super Mario Sunshine works. There's the main hub (Delfino Plaza) which is your spaceship in this game, and you have access to other hub worlds through both games. And just like how you go back to those over and over for multiple storylines in Sunshine, the same thing happens here. The hotel in Mario Sunshine is a really good example of what I'm thinking of when I think about world changes when you go back repeatedly. So just think of each level as something worth double checking with each world, and I think you'll be good to go! ^^
So now, you have conquered Chapter 2 and now just collect time pieces in the remaining acts and you should be good to move onto the finale! (He will keep delivering hats in time for us!)

the mod i mentioned before that removes the online party messages, it's quite literally called "No Online Party messages" and can be downloaded from the steam workshop for a hat in time

to get through the door leading to the 20 room you just need the fox mask theres a level in alpine skyline that teaches you how to use it better
You don't need time-stop for the free-roam world you probably just don't know where to go (tbh I always get lost in alpine skyline as well) just know that the game tells you when you complete the free-roam world, you don't need the dlc to fight the final boss, and the entrance to the dlc is accessed by the dweller hat (fox hat) which you already have (the purple thing you couldn't get pass).
I can't explain how much I love the soundtrack that plays during the chapter 2 boss fight it's so good

In the time rifts there are hidden pictures and it shows you background information of the bosses. The pictures are in the purple time rifts.

its needed on the first act on there, timestop hat is just as an extra hat thats fun to use and looks really nice!

A few thing i wanna say:
-If you want timepieces, do the time rifts, they give time pieces too.
-For that purple wall, use the dweller mask, it makes green things avaiable and purple things unavaiable
-Im gonna try my best not to spoil anything but in the last cutscene you have a choice, just wanna say it changes absolutely nothing.
-At the end, if you want a little easter egg, try doing what someone says when they say you're a good guy (Im trying my best not to spoil anything pls don't harass me)
-Also someone already said this but there is 2 unlockable things in the free roam level room. Both of them are the dlcs so try to do that for last.

For the last act of Mafia Town, the game would expect you to have the Time Stop Hat as the key item. However you can win the race by using the scooter but try to not lose speed or else you lose.
Tip: Use the hook for the jump then use scooter again.

When I play A Hat in Time I don't use the beam attack badge because I don't really need it. I always stick with the money magnet, grappling hook, and scooter badges but I will swap the magnet with the faster cool down badge when I need to use my powers faster.

So uh, fun fact: not only can mods do like uh change the game well there is also mods that add stages to the game such as "Steve's Live Show" which you may get copyrighted and break ears cause well, yeah. But the game developers were like "Why not make a challenge road out of these stages?" and that is where challenge road comes from, Challenge road is a little thing where there are four different custom levels and you have to complete each level with only 3 hearts, most of these levels are super hard, some more surprising than others. Also if you want a platforming 3d game you could play "Kirby and the forgotten land." I mean the game has platforming but a long/short storyline. -and maybe dark lore if you really wanna go down that rabbit hole- Also don't mind me I'm having fun watching people go crazy over Paper Mario...

You should use scooter, hook (or whatever the swinging one was I forgor), and umbrella badges. You really don’t need the blast thing until the boss fights, and at that point, you can swap out the umbrella badge. I cannot count the amount of times the umbrella has saved me.
