Lovely big-wing display from Pelican. Hope she does well after her nasty day, only improved by her rescue, even if she doesnt believe it just yet. Many thanks to the MOP.

That glucose changed her mind real quick lol. Such amazing and beautiful creatures, im envy of you in Australia who get to have them in your backyard! Well, along with all the great snakes and other reptiles I love haha.
If you ask most Aussies who might have them locally, they will almost universally hate them; as neighbours, they're not particularly desirable. They're noisy, messy and smelly; if you disturb them they take off and make a lot of squawking noises, and when they take off, the usually offload; ie, they evacuate their bowel and bladder to lighten their load so they fly more efficiently. I love the batties by I wouldn't live backing onto a bat colony by choice.
Thank you for the work you do to save these precious ones. 🙏 Love the way you speak to them with you kind and gentle voice. They understand. Your care and love for these beings is exemplary. You are an angel on earth.💝
Amazing rescue, I love the battitude and swearing like a sailor. I don't blame the poor girl, her thumb looks very sore. Bless her, she has been in the wars. It's good to see how she calmed down when she realised she wasn't in danger. You're so good with them. I'm happy to see she's probably a survivor ❤ best of luck pelican ❤❤❤
Oh sweet Pelican!! Blinky, take good care of her, help her to feel safe. I hope she recovers, thinking of her possibly getting dragged and trying to stop herself with her thumbs just hurts my heart. 💕🦇💕🦇💕🦇💕🦇💕🦇
Vets do the same check on cats and dogs brought in. Car hits them, they fly through the air and hit the ground at speed, and try to dig their nails in to get a grip, but their momentum will drag them along, breaking and abrading the nails. You're right. My heart aches.

I love when these little ones glare at you and kind of halfway do bigwings, followed by a good cussing out. she wasn’t lacking in battitude, small as she is. Pelican is a feisty little thing, but the glucose seemed to win her over. You have to wonder just how they got where they did. I’m happy to hear she is going to be a survivor, but she needs to put some weight on her little frame. She is a very cute little snip of a thing, but you will see her set right. So glad she wasn’t electrocuted…the fat lip is a mystery.🥂🖤🇨🇦
Unfortunately, here on the California coast, U.S.A., recently, many of our brown pelicans are sick, confused, and starving for some unknown reason. I hope they find out why soon, and can help them. They are neat birds.
Where are you located? I’m in Carlsbad, and I haven’t heard about this, but I could hear the noise from Camp Pendleton last week. It went on for a few days, and would probably irritate wildlife. 😢
Maybe her growth was stunted from lack of decent food. She's a lucky girl being found. I heard a bird in the trees yelling each time Pelican yelled at you. Now she can get well and sleep in peace. Thanks Meg.
She's a big girl for her age, but skinny; her growth isn't stunted. There hasn't been much food around for about 6 weeks because of the rain; rain washes out the nectar and pollen from the blossom which reduces the food value; also it's mating season so they boys are food hogging and guarding so they can get themselves big and buff for the girls.

So many ads tonight, I got to read all of the comments. I hope Pelican can bounce back from her injuries. She’s a feisty one. Fingers crossed for a full recovery. 💙 Do you remove all of the nycteribiids at home? I would have to, even though they wouldn’t like me or my dogs. We don’t have fleas in this house/yard, but Lily (pfp) and I got ticks once, and I’m freaked out by spider like parasites (all parasites, tbh). I like pelicans, too. They’re so beautiful in flights of squadrons, like giant V shaped streams of pelicans in the sky. They’re cute when they have “conventions” near the reef at low tide, and they’re all talking to each other.
I don't remove the nycteribiids unless they jump out at me; it's really hard to get them when they squirm down around the hair roots. It's rainy time, so the nycteribiids are hatching.
They have amazing social intelligence, which means they see you as an individual and they can choose to try to understand your motivations and interact with you as they see you and see you're not trying to hurt them.
She must have been in a lot of pain and shock when you first found her, she definitely went from batitude to calm after the glucose and pain meds. I hope she heals well and lives a long and happy life with lots of baby bats.
They usually calm down once the adrenaline of rescue/capture wears off. She maintained some of the feist until I took her to the aviary; she's a very confident little lady

Even without the glucose, she'd still settle down; the bats are smart; they see you're helping them and they respond by giving you the benefit of the doubt. She has decided to let me help her.
You can actually see her eyes brighten when she gets glucose. Adorable as always, both of you.
I bet that also was a big surprise. 😂 Expected to be eaten, but then the monster feeds YOU. "WHAT?! - Oh, that stuff is actually pretty good..."

I can only imagine the warmth and satisfaction in that. We've saved a few critters that were scared and hurt and it's such a wonderful feeling to make them feel better and trust you. But we've only had a few. And you guys have the strength and love to let them go. I would likely cry every time, especially now in my old age, lol. Thank you Meg. This was absolutely what I needed to wake up to.🙏🏼😍🦇 This is your wing🪽
Love the wrapping up and thw bat just accepts it, likes it. You are doing fabulous worthy work and help of much maligned creatures. Love bats. You help so many. Like watching your important work. Keep up the great work.
Thanks @ardybb

God bless you for trying to save this amazing creature
She was worth saving, don't you think?
She is adorable Vento in Poppa piccola!❤❤❤ Thank You for helping all like her ❤
It never ceases to amaze me how they become like putty im your hands once you start treating them. They lie there all wide eyed watching your every move knowing you are helping then. ❤
They have great social intelligence and can see that the carer is helping them; they don't fight for survival or escape without a chance.
So happy to see that sweet little thing taken care of.
Awww! Those eyes!
Thank you! Poor baby!
Ah yes, remembering world limerick day. I have a carved wooden pelican with those very words on it.
She might be lucky enough to regrow her nail
Maybe; let's wait and see
Thank you for taking such great care of this beautiful girl.
God bless you. You are a wonderful lady!!
Your a wonderful bat angel. Love & respect to you.❤
Thank you for saving so many precious lives ❤🙏
Astounding how she works out you are trying to help her, all the defensive aggression vanished. Bat whisperer if ever there was.
It’s about that time again Meg when we go into Australia for World Geography again here in Virginia! I love including the megabatties when I discuss the fauna. And I love showing Walter and the banana eating black battie video from a couple years back! Keep us posted on Pelican!
Have you seen the videos where Teddy (or Walter) hides banana pieces in his wingpits, for later? It’s so cute.
Let's hope she's a survivor!
Such a kind professional woman💐
Thanks Trish.
I like rescuing and caring for these little ones.
Are you new to my channel? If so:
Welcome to Megabattie,
I put lots of information in the descriptions under the videos - so if you have questions, look for the answers there first. I also put the fate of the animal if I know it, at the time I put the video up. I may put updates there later if I find out what happened to the animal after it has left my care.
There is also a Happy Outcomes playlist if you want to only watch videos where the bat survives; this is a real life channel and you get the good, the bad, the ugly and distressing, and even my oopsies.
You can find further videos on an individual bat by searching in the YT search bar for Megabattie/and the name of the bat you want to follow.
There is a community tab (like a mini Facebook page) on my channel - if you go to Megabattie home page, there is a menu bar across the top under the cover pic. Home, Videos, Playlists, Community, About. If you click on the community tab there are posts there where I can share pix and talk about some of the videos I put up and answer questions.
Enjoyed watching you handle & help her 😊. Hope she recovered nicely. 🙏 🦇❤
SHe's spending time in another aviary with juvies until her thumb nail grows over the claw bone.
What a love little baby . thanks for saving them
They are so, so cute! I save them as my favorites❤

So many ads tonight, I got to read all of the comments.
I hope Pelican can bounce back from her injuries. She’s a feisty one. Fingers crossed for a full recovery. 💙
Do you remove all of the nycteribiids at home?
So cute 🇨🇦🦇🍁
Precious thank you
omg so sweet. You are an angel
I behave for sugar too! How adorable! ❤
Soon to be a major motion picture starring Zendaya as Pelican! Who do you want to play you, Meg?
Niamh Cusack? I loved her as Beatrix Potter, and she’s the right age. She had the same kind of warm, soft, calming voice with Peter Rabbit.
No idea.
Amazong how it calmed down. Like it realized you were loving and there to help.
MegaBatty
I'm glad to know she is doing ok.
I hope she likes her new temporary home.
I love the way she talks to him.
❤THIS WOMAN IS A QUEEN AS WONDERFUL RESCUE REHABILITATION WORKER I SALUTE HER AS A FELLOW RESCUE REHABILITATION WORKER ❤ SHES PAWSOME
I love this bat lady. She really love the bats and cares for them so tenderly
Thanks Tonmarina. I love to rescue and care for the bats - adults, babies, juvies; they're all fun and interesting.

@@Megabattie thanks for the information. We need more caring people like you today. Keep up your mission in life.
Amazing how trusting that little animal was after a little nectar
Even without the glucose, she'd still settle down; the bats are smart; they see you're helping them and they respond by giving you the benefit of the doubt.
She has decided to let me help her.
She’s so precious❤❤
Bless your saving ❤
Hey du, fasse mich bloß nicht an! Ich bin so imposant und sehr gefährlich! 😂👍😍♥️
A survivor!! A very cranky girl! Come on Pelican , go on
