200hp! ... I have 11 hp on my Yamaha YS125! And I'm happy with that :) Still I love all your Mc reviews and videos. Keep'em coming! Cheers from a 67 year old first time motorcycle driver in Sweden! /Anders
Normally, 2017+ GSXR 1000s put down 160-180 horsepower TO THE WHEEL depending on the dyno, with the average being around 170 in stock form. These bikes are very heavily restricted from the factory. An ECU flash + tune, aftermarket full exhaust and a good quality air filter gets them to between 190-195 to the wheel which is a huge amount of power.
Cheers from a 56 year old long time rider. be safe out there. I didn’t ride for many years. Took a rider safety course at a local college before I got back on. Time and money well spent. Take care
The 2021 Euro 5 compliant model will have an exhaust the size of a wheelie bin and the tail tidy will be twice as long and come with extra lights to ensure it’s safe for the road
But you don’t get it. Get a slip on, problem all gone. Other bikes still have their catalytic converter underneath the bike. Put a slip on on a bike like that and all the stuff is still there. Genius move from suzuki really.
The 'BFF' decal on the front forks, does in fact mean 'Best Friends Forever' which is pretty obviously related to being more than just good friends vis-a-vis the whole free bike thing.
Can’t wait to see your impressions compared to the other super bikes. The day to day livability of this bike. Suzuki must have very good confidence in this bike to lend it to you long term. I’m impressed just bc they did that.
Over the years ive never been a Suzuki fan but tbh Suzuki have nailed it with this new GSXR 1000R. I've been considering getting a 1000cc sports bike next and id never have considered a GSXR 1000 before but 💯 this could well be my next bike.......great job Suzuki 👏👏
TheMissendenFlyer no I haven't mate not yet but ive heard so many great things about it I'm still very happy with my Daytona 675R but I'm seriously thinking of getting a litre bike next and this is definitely in the running especially in this colour scheme 🔥🔥 I also like the gloss black and blue

I think endlessly dull comments about the GSX-R muffler should be blurred out. Everyone knows it's the first thing an owner is going to change anyway, the reason it is there is so the bike can pass emmision regulations so you can buy the bike in the first f**king place. STFU.
Big T absolutely. If I were to buy the fireblade I wouldn’t change the can, I think it looks good, you’re investing every bit of 15k to go spend another $1500 (AUD) on a can of not a full system ontop of the already laid out price because of the look seems a little outrageous. As long as it has been budgeted for fair play.
@@triv7252 actually the exhaust is kind of a big deal if you need an aftermarket euro 4 compliant exhaust to get rid of this disgrace. they all perform worse than the standard can!
The gixxer 750 is one of my all time favorites..beautiful powerband and perfect size motor. And..they cost as much as a 600 which is awesome on suzuki's part for keeping the price low. I need to get one before they are finally discontinued

Amazing review as always! Had one question, I'm thinking of upgrading to a litre bike from my 600. What's your take on this Gixxer against the 'Blade and the R1?
Great bike, great review TMF. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the Suzuki longer term. Shame about that Euro 4 exhaust, but easily fixed.
Just bought a 2018 white just like yours. Unfortunately they wouldn't let me leave because of a recall for something to do with the fuel pump. Extremely disappointing because its one amazing machine I can't wait to ride. Nice review
I would love you to do some track day with this beast - specially - or with any other similar specs bike. I would love to do it myself too but cannot find the chance. Such an experience and know how it feels with your descriptions woud be great.
Nice one Mr Flyer! Although I own a S1000RR & a Monster R, I still love the Suzuki's. Had 2 GSXR750's in the 80's & 90's. Tracked it 15 times, and only had to change the oil, pads & tyres. So much heritage in these machines. Mr Flyer, every time you revved that engine when in neutral, it brought back such lovely vibes through my body (I always listen via headphones). No matter how good or bad the gixxer is, I can't but love them. I know my beemer is possibly better, but I have had thoughts of buying the Suzi. In the 90's I had a Kwaka ZXR 750 which was 15 horses more than my 4 year old GSXR750. But the gixxer was 4 secs quicker than the kwaka on a quick lap. I just can't seem to hate Suzuki's, no matter how big the dustbins are. Great review Mr Flyer. I'll be as eager as ever watching your thoughts over the next few weeks. Cheers groover ;-)
Forgot to mention. Always have a lovely giggle when you correct yourself via the captions! "It has 6 riding modes" "Three!....you numpty!" LOL!!! Luv it! Cheers groover ;-)
I'm a new rider on a 600er SRAD from 2000, and I can't help but agree with what you said about the charm and history - it's fascinating to see how much has changed over the years and iterations, but also how many things are still the same or similar enough to recognize. The new machines are better and faster and more sophisticated, of course, but the older ones demand a share of respect as well, for getting the tradition off the ground and because they're still damn hot irons even today. :)
So weird to see you back on the sports bike after long time of retro, naked etc... fantastic change, enjoy! Looks like the kind of bike which will get your license in trouble though...
Competing with Yamaha R1SP😳 do you mean R1M, as it does not compete with the R1M more like the standard R1😀 only SP they do is on the MT10, with the GSXR1000R this competes with the standard R1 as both these have standard big piston forks where as the R1M has full electronic Ohlins suspension.
Hello there I recently just got the 2018 gsxr1000r in black but I ECU flashed the bike and turned on the R model features. When your on the throttle and autoblip down without letting off the gas is it a little rough on you as well? If I’m off the throttle I’ve experienced smooth shifts it’s only rough when I’m on the throttle and wanted to know if your having this same situation with yours since it’s not flashed as I assume from the video.
You have to wonder where it will all end. 200bhp is all well and good for the track but for the road? It's a very expensive bike to have a just a dedicated Track machine and although pretty much every bike made could get you into trouble on the road at least with smaller bikes i.e. 600cc you can at least explore more of its capabilities.
No one explores any significant percentage of a 600cc's potential on the road, either, let's be honest - at least you really, really, really shouldn't. Sportbikes are ridiculously overgrown for regular use and have been for many years, haven't they?
Lovely looking bike. I think white is the best colour for the GSXR. If I were buying one would have to be white. Are you going to test the new Triumph 1200 scrambler. ?
As with similar bikes, I don’t understand why the ALSO (Automatic License Shredder Option) and QCAB (Quick Contact Attorney Button) isn’t standard. Great review!
Walter Wilkins Not to mention the LCDTJ (Launch Control Direct To Jail) option, now that's something all decent litre road bikes need fitted as standard these days ;-)
Awesome bike and great review as always. However, the only way I’d buy this bike is if I’d got 0 points on my license and lived near a bus stop for when I got banned! 😉
What a great bit of kit. Think you hit the nail though regarding 200bhp and road riding. Great to have but I could never get close to exploiting the power and would hate to crash it doing a track day. 16k I can’t afford to lose or pcp etc. So many great bikes nowadays and such a choice with the deals out there on finance it does sometimes give too much choice. Anyway keep up the good work
Nice and positive review, as usual, mr. TMF! Can you explain please, what is Showa BFF suspension? How it works? What benefits it gives in comparing to usual upside down fork? And one word about bike - it's beautiful, just exhaust is ugly, it must be replaced in first day after delivery.
It always makes me laugh, but why bother fuzzing out the speedo. Road markings have a set length and gap between them, mathematics is then used to determine said speed over a given time/distance (saves on your editing time too).
Quite a short vid I thought, in comparison to the gsxr1000 which went another 5 minutes longer, but still a nice overview of the bike. The white will be a nice magnet for bugs. I think a TMF 125, 250, 600, 750 and 1000 gsxr comparison would be good, highlighting which is the most fun, easy to live with and one you would personally own.
Yes, sadly the BMW and Kawasaki people kept hounding him about giving him more Free Bikes ..and he had to cut the review down a bit to fit in all the Ribbon-cutting ceremonies and free champagne etc It's terribly tragic.
If l still was into sportsbikes this was the bike in my garage right now. I just love the gixxer brand and l have own quite a few. I just dont care if their not the best on paper out there but l think they are awsome. I have tryed the lot but always fall back on the gixxers. Nice review on a stunning beutiful bike.
The back end looks too skinny, especially for a Gixxer, and I'm not a fan of the single light at the front. Other than that a nice bike. Great Video as usual.
The Yamaha R1 SP..........It's been a while since Yamaha realeased one of those so not really a fair comparison. Love the review though keep up the good work
Hehe lots are commenting on the exhaust, at least you don't have to look at that whilst riding. My hideous thing on bikes costing this much money is the little plastic sample pot on the handlebars, surely something else can be done that is just as light?
...yeah I agree, an anodised aluminium pot can't cost thaaaat much surely.....changed the plastic pots on both my Street Triple and Panigale for anodised ones, much more classy.....
Can we see some older bike reviews on your channel? Not that I don't like the way you are doing it now, but I just do not see myself going out and looking for a brand new bike any time soon.
You could do something similar to the thesmokingtire channel where fans bring interesting cars to be driven by the host. I am sure you got the reach to make something like that happen.
I sure would love to try a bike with such performance and power for a ride or two.....That said, I'm far too aggressive and brave of a rider to actually own one. I would without a doubt have myself in trouble sooner or later...
That bike is amazing, shame about the end can, but... the end can is designed so that if you remove the end can, you also remove the cat and all the euro 4 stuff. Thankyou suzuki for thinking about that unlike other brands...
@@lambethlongshanks7990from what I had heard the reason for the exhaust being so big is that all of the components for the cat and other things are all in the end can, no mid pipe box like on most other bikes these days.
Dave S. 😂 and it should have read "Bit disappointed..." rather than "Not disappointed...." which completely changes the sentence. Then again I got a like from Tmf which I'm chuffed with. Probably a sympathy like 😛
That exhaust looks huge compared to the rest of the bike. And isn't it strange to say how many litres the tank has and then say how many miles per gallon the bike does. Don't know how many foreign viewers you have, but that doesn't tell me anything and I am too lazy to make the conversion. :)
That's very good value compared to the opposition MF though if I were to get one (pigs might fly) the dustbin exhaust would have to go and it would have to be blue. Look forward to hearing what you think of it long term and seeing those chicken strips disappear...….
Nice bike. In the early part of the video it sounded like the quick shifter was thumping it into gear rather than changing up smoothly. Was i hearing things?
Although I do admit to be a bit of an S1000RR fanboy (ex owner) I do think objectively on spec and subjectively, it beats the Suzuki hands down: - the top spec RR Sport is £15,805 (not including forged wheels or full titanium exhaust) which includes everything the GSXRR has plus dynamic damping control and a couple of other bits). - the S1000RR is better built. Suzuki isn't poorly built, but the only other make on a level, possibly better than BMW, is Honda - the GSXRR looks dated. Their K6 era models look more modern - genuinely good to look at. The more recent models inc the '18 look like they've gone backwards. - no braided lines? And track tests have shown time and time again, that the GSXRR had and still had inferior brakes. In the 90's Suzuki made what I still think is my favorite bike of all time - the GSXR-750 - in my mind never bettered as the best road sports bike: it looked light years ahead of its time, it was mechanically ahead of its time and it handled better than anything else. The current GSXR and GSXRR are under speced, over priced, under perform and have nothing in the looks dept. Frankly I couldn't give a rats behind if they use ball bearings to give variable valve timing, it's out of its league on road on track, in your garage..
@@corinful possibly! As I said, I admit to liking the S1000RR having owned one. Trying to be objective though, the BMW beats it on paper in most respects, but that aside - we all know, that (within reason) paper specs account for naff all! However, the BMW whips the Suzuki in most group tests and is also cheaper and better made..
I know the feeling with the white van. I have the same issue with fat old people on sports bike's 😉.nice bike I'll getting my first super bike next year hopefully.
I had to look up what the B-King was. Impressive, a naked bike with a Busa based engine. Suzuki must have released those during my hiatus from forums and the internet in general because I had no clue. I modded my ZZR1200 for ST use and racked up 65,000 miles. Along the way I ran into a few riders on Hayabusas (most modded a bit too, risers and such) and they praised the bike's touring performance. Cheers!
GSXR... didnt know they still sold them. I had a 750 srad in 1999, great bike looked good and had a beautiful blue and white paint job. Just for the track today?

I think a TMF 125, 250, 600, 750 and 1000 gsxr comparison would be good, highlighting which is the most fun, easy to live with and one you would personally own.
Yes, sadly the BMW and Kawasaki people kept hounding him about giving him more Free Bikes ..and he had to cut the review down a bit to fit in all the Ribbon-cutting ceremonies and free champagne etc It's terribly tragic.
A four seater sports bike, 2 on bike, 2 up on the exhaust!
Fav liter bike !
I think you should do a review of....white vans? lovely powerful bike! ride safe
Cheers Toby....
Always liked Suzuki, had loads of them in the late 70s, bit that exhaust is hideous, but.no doubt there will be loads of aftermarket options 👍😎
Those quickshifters sound amazing! Is it possible to install one on any motorcycle or is it a built in piece of tech? If that makes sense
Sam Kent yes if it's got fly by wire throttle and if someone makes a quick shift system to fit
Sam Kent You can get them for good ol cable throttled bikes too, not just ride by wire systems...
Sorry, didn't realise
Its the small things and like that suzuki blacks out the hand and foot controls
The back end looks too skinny, especially for a Gixxer, and I'm not a fan of the single light at the front. Other than that a nice bike. Great Video as usual.
Thanks for watching as ever!
I’m glad you didn’t lose the GoPro like LambChop did when he reviewed this bike! 😆. You’re right, it’s better in blue 👍.
Can we see some older bike reviews on your channel? Not that I don't like the way you are doing it now, but I just do not see myself going out and looking for a brand new bike any time soon.
It’s difficult to get hold of old bikes to review - but stay tuned!
PaiN's RIdes
Ha ha, yeah sure 😄
That’s why you ride a Harley of course😂
That bike is amazing, shame about the end can, but... the end can is designed so that if you remove the end can, you also remove the cat and all the euro 4 stuff. Thankyou suzuki for thinking about that unlike other brands...
The cat isn't in the can.
@@lambethlongshanks7990from what I had heard the reason for the exhaust being so big is that all of the components for the cat and other things are all in the end can, no mid pipe box like on most other bikes these days.
@@ToxicChillz I'm afraid that's not the case. You need a decat pipe ahead of the can.
Toxic Chillz absolutely correct people need to do research before mocking 👍
@@chrisd2415 the cat is not in the can. It's upstream of it. You'll need a decat pipe to get rid of it.
Morning. Track day in the long term review?
Fraid not....don’t think the loan bike insurance would stretch to that!
Not disappointing that its brembo on the front only. Four that money I'd expect brembo front and rear.
TMF phoned me and asked me to correct your spelling. (he's too embarrassed to point it out himself) ...it's ' _FOR_ that money.."
Dave S. 😂 and it should have read "Bit disappointed..." rather than "Not disappointed...." which completely changes the sentence. Then again I got a like from Tmf which I'm chuffed with. Probably a sympathy like 😛
TMF in your opinion which do you favor more? 17 fireblade or 17 gsxr1000r?
I preferred the GSXR when I initially rode them but it's a while since I was on the Fireblade...I think I prefer the looks of the Fireblade...
Not sure about the headlight, apart from that fine looking machine.
That exhaust looks huge compared to the rest of the bike.
And isn't it strange to say how many litres the tank has and then say how many miles per gallon the bike does. Don't know how many foreign viewers you have, but that doesn't tell me anything and I am too lazy to make the conversion. :)
Yep, funny ol lot the British!
That euro license plate is huge. kinda of a air brake. and that muffler...
How OtR ?
Looks great apart from the huge exhaust!!
That's very good value compared to the opposition MF though if I were to get one (pigs might fly) the dustbin exhaust would have to go and it would have to be blue. Look forward to hearing what you think of it long term and seeing those chicken strips disappear...….
Love a pearlescent paint job. 😉
Ah perfect upload time for california... 11 pm haha
GIXXER is back, hail hail the king..
a real beauty...but the blue would be a wee bit nicer!!!
Agreed!
Nice bike. In the early part of the video it sounded like the quick shifter was thumping it into gear rather than changing up smoothly. Was i hearing things?
Yes, I think you were...
Do the mirrors fold in ?
Can’t remember - think yes...
Although I do admit to be a bit of an S1000RR fanboy (ex owner) I do think objectively on spec and subjectively, it beats the Suzuki hands down:
- the top spec RR Sport is £15,805 (not including forged wheels or full titanium exhaust) which includes everything the GSXRR has plus dynamic damping control and a couple of other bits).
- the S1000RR is better built. Suzuki isn't poorly built, but the only other make on a level, possibly better than BMW, is Honda
- the GSXRR looks dated.
Fair do's - thanks for watching and stopping by as ever....all the best - TMF
Obviously a butt hurt BMW fanboy!
Up to your usual high standard.
Considering the BMW is only £200 more and a the R1 £250 more I still think I'd rather go with with one of those over a Gixxer.
Fair enough....
I know the feeling with the white van. I have the same issue with fat old people on sports bike's 😉.nice bike I'll getting my first super bike next year hopefully.
Another KN18 on the road...... that’s 2 in a row isn’t it?
KN1B ??
Gixxers are solid machines, for sure. Next thing TMF will be touring on the Hayabusa. hint cough hint hint ;)
Cheers!
R1 SP? I assume you meant the R1M ;) (unless you're strangely comparing it to the SP from 2006)
Great video as always!
GSXR... didnt know they still sold them.
I had a 750 srad in 1999, great bike looked good and had a beautiful blue and white paint job.
Just for the track today?
They still make the 750 and you can have one for the cost of a 600 which, is brilliant as the 750 is a great motor
