Dude I love the Gaster musics in this game cause not only beat are insane, they also included CORE's melody in there. When you think about it Gaster has built the CORE, so it all makes sense now.

It's literally everything I was expecting from deltarune. Maybe this *is* where the story is going. Its way more interesting to continue the lore like this, a direct sequel to the true pacifist run.

I am pretty sure that you play as Harlow.
Here is my theory:
You play as Harlow n the first simulation and when you get the quest to collect the soul shards, that is supposed to be you taking over the fraction of the soul powering your simulation. Then, when you destroy the soul shard, you are sent back to the real world because the soul shard that was powering your simulation was destroyed, thereby removing the simulation’s power supply
Every time you collect a soul piece, you get rid of a bit of the energy in soul shard that is powering the simulations, hence why you need to collect soul fragments/pieces to be freed and why you woke up in a glass chamber, as if you were being experimented on...

i was watching this to revisit this old version of the game, and hoo boy I forgot how soul-crushing that last bit was (sorry for the unintentional pun). It seems like some kind of apocalypse was happening, so Gaster hid away little Sans and Papyrus along with Harlow (I presume they were adopted by Gaster as they're a human) in the true lab and sacrificed himself so that their conscience could exist in a peaceful heaven for the rest of eternity. I can't physically cry from such things, but if I could I'd be drowning rn
"Don't forget" has forgotten, no chapters 2-3.

Ass-pull headcanon here with a hot new take!
My thought on the graveyard is that... This is a representation of your character's memory of the outside world. At first, when they were put into the simulation, the names might have been fresh and obvious. The graves represented the life they had before, in a way.
But as their memory faded (as Gaster said they would), the names did too. And Harlow even forgot their own name completely. But the line between player and Harlow is blurred. By sitting at the graves and making the connections to the names, the player (and therefore Harlow) would realize that these graves didn't make sense, given that everyone was around. Clearly, either the graves were a sick joke... or this whole world was false. But they would only come to that realization if they REALLY tried to figure it out...
And at the same time, the only reason they could figure it out was because Harlow/Player already knew all those names could be on those headstones. They understood that something wasn't right, in this world, given what they felt should be true.
However, if you, as the Player/Harlow, didn't make the connection, you'd be less inclined to necessarily believe that Gaster was telling the truth... and that the others might be real, too, but less aware than you, of their current situation...

Wow OMG, the bg music of the true lab part, mixture of gaster music and the final boss minions like final froggit and astigmatism, it frickin sounds so epic, actually every bg music in this game does, but so far this music and the mountain music are the most epic so far
