The sheer joy you experienced in this really comes through, and it's part of why your videos are always so inspiring: you really love what you do and it shows. Congrats on the build!
I like Laura best when she spends time explaining what she's going to do. Some projects don't need an intro, but this was great with the intro. Exquisitely beautiful!
Colon Furz would build one 10 feet tall with 4 steel wool cages (at least). And because that's not insane enough, he'd build two arms that were counter-rotating. And somehow it would all tie in to World of Tanks or something. And you're reading this in his voice, aren't you?
I knew Lenovo was an awesome company because my son used (and abused) one of their laptops all through his middle school education - it just kept running now matter what he did to it. Now I know they are family because they sponsor extraordinary performance art like this. Well done Lenovo! And well done Laura Kampf! What an incredible experience.
You and Adam, always remember me that having a good fun and being a smart and hard working person doesn't recognize gender. Thanks for all the good stuff guys!
Ok....when all the books are written about what we did on our year long furlough, yours will be number one! That's the coolest thing I've ever seen. Bravo from Tennessee USA😊🌋
I see videos like this one of yours and I get super impatient for my daughter to grow older and begin building things with me. I hope and pray my children love creative stuff as much as I do! This was epic Laura!! Amazing job!!
I love this build, so glad to see Adam on there, He has been one of my heroes in building stuff for years, and I just got to meet him myself last month!!!! Keep building, I’ll keep watching!
Watched the Livestream yesterday; and then watched the premier of this live a few minutes a go, but I had to watch again because of the great images... the slo mo, the stills... all just fantastic. Thanks for the great recap of the build, and the great start to my week.
Wow! It's really a supernova simulator. They just do it really really fast & with most of the elements we know & love on the periodic table. Great photography and your joy beams through all of it. Great work. Thxs
Hey Laura, just wanted to complement you on the production values of all your videos! The way you mix talking to camera, with close ups of your build process, plus funky hypnotic music is BRILLIANT!
Laura...this video made my heart happy. Your passion for making and valuing consultation with Adam, just further ignited (pun intended) both of your passions for being good to people and continuing the benefits of creating and helping others. Bravo.
What fun! I loved this so much. Your enthusiasm makes it so great to follow you in all of your undertakings. Thanks for taking us along with you on your wild ride through life.!
Amazing Laura well done! I use to do this by hand of course every Easter when I was 10 years old in 1986 with my mates. The sparks in the dark is spectacular! 😃
Great video. Beautiful on two tracks: 1 being just the sure fun watching fiery things go around and around. Very much installation art peace and kinetic sculpture. And 2. The still photos of you with it are captivating. The cemetery of the sparks looks amazing! Very cool, great job.
this is so cool to make a machine that does the spinning part for you while you can actually take long exposure shots... the best ideas are the ones that are kinda crazy 😎😁
Mythbuster fan since Butt Stuck on a Plane here... Having Adam as a leading tiny creature on your shoulder, must feel kinda devilish and child on a candy shop at the same time. ¡PURA VIDA!
Cooles Projekt. Genau das richtige für Silvester 2020. Und morgen rennen alle zu den Baumärkten um sich die Teile fürs zusammen bauen zu holen. Denn Mittwoch wird ja wieder heruntergefahren.
I’m a little late to the party ;) but I’ve heard about your “very-dangerous-thing” in your podcast Raabe&Kampf (I’m a little late there too :)) And now this beautiful thing made my day and I’m full of positive emotions and I love these sparkles so so much!
An alternative to the ignition system would be a step up transformer from a cheap taser with a rf switch relay. If you mounted it on the axis it shouldn't affect the balance too much. You could have wires going down into the steel wool.
Dangerous - a little. Awesome - ABSOFRACKINLUTELY!!!! I watched the livestream. The sheer joy you and Adam had with the results was infectious. There might have been some hooting, hollering, and clapping here in Texas. :)
Might want to keep in mind the phrase "fail safe" for your lighting system. It doesn't mean the thing can't fail, but that if it does fail it fails in a safe way. As it is, if you lose power to your electromagnet, the torch activates. Also, if the torch tips over and fails to light the wool, there is no mechanism to retract it so you are stuck with "a lit fuse" for a firework that didn't go off.
Awesome as usual. Your skills and talent are unreal. As is your passion and personality. The thumbnail photo does not quite capture the magnitude of the structure and scale of the piece. Amazing!
Even three weeks later (after binging *so much* of the Haus Lise Lotte series) I’m still super-chuffed about the heart I got on my comment on a three-year-old video. These smiles just keep on coming 😊
I‘m using Lenovo Laptops for many, many years as a professional programmer. And I‘m always satisfied with them. For private use I‘m using a MacBook and I‘m satisfied too 😃
The 9V idea would have worked if you had embedded electrical wire into the wire wool and run it down the arm, mount the battery on a spring mechanism in the counterweight. When the speed becomes critical the battery makes contact and sends the charge down the wire but stays out of the direct flame.
During the "Construction" segment (02:11-03:16) I found myself moving to the music and really getting into how the video and the accompaniment complement each-other. Which made me flash back the first of your videos I saw years ago: "Laura's Walnut Table with Bowties" (ua-cam.com/video/WsE3BS-j8sY/v-deo.html). That day I binge-watched at least a half-dozen of your videos and happily subscribed. I just watched several of them again and they still stand up. You somehow combine shop video with a few minutes of music and make a compelling wordless story out of documenting a build. It leaves me breathless sometime and smiling every time. Thank you, Laura. And now to finish watching _this_ video!
Adam Savage plus Laura Kampf: every firefighter’s nightmare. 🔥
Naw, not all of us. I think it's pretty cool
🤣🤣🤣
Adam Savage Yes Laura Kampf True also yes, I raise you a Styropyro tough
They could team up with Colin Furze and the Hacksmith. 🤔
Or dream come true
The sheer joy you experienced in this really comes through, and it's part of why your videos are always so inspiring: you really love what you do and it shows. Congrats on the build!
Well, that title has me in.
it’s the builder version of having your ears „not“ cut off by a sword.
Love the ferrous wheel. Epic build for sure. My math brain is digging the shape of the sparks.
Ha! Ferrous wheel! Pure comedy genius.
I like Laura best when she spends time explaining what she's going to do. Some projects don't need an intro, but this was great with the intro. Exquisitely beautiful!
My favorite moment is "Team work makes the dream work." 😂
Sounds more like a collab with Collin Furze than Adam Savage. 🤣👍🤘
Geez, imagine the three working together on a project! That would be the holy Trinity of ingenuity, making and breaking (spectacularly)! 😲😳😲
True! 🤣
yeah
Colon Furz would build one 10 feet tall with 4 steel wool cages (at least). And because that's not insane enough, he'd build two arms that were counter-rotating. And somehow it would all tie in to World of Tanks or something. And you're reading this in his voice, aren't you?
@@davidwilliss5555 Sure I do! 🤪
Archeologists will have fun with those deposits some day.
Truly worthy of awe, watching this, your and Adam's enthusiasm and wonder is wonderful.
Thank you Marielle!! ❤️❤️❤️
You and Adam, always remember me that having a good fun and being a smart and hard working person doesn't recognize gender. Thanks for all the good stuff guys!
Your joy in this video is contagious.
Ok....when all the books are written about what we did on our year long furlough, yours will be number one! That's the coolest thing I've ever seen. Bravo from Tennessee USA😊🌋
Ok, now that was impressive. The still shots are just magnificent. Very nice work Laura. That's what I keep coming back here for.
I love your natural joy, when you see your projects working out or being finished. Great and spectacular machine you built there!
Holy crap, "dangerous" doesn't do it justice!! Great video, Laura!
Ich: "Hm, ich hab da ein kleines technisches Problem und grade keine Idee wie ich es am besten löse."
Laura: "Lass mal Adam Savage anrufen!"
I see videos like this one of yours and I get super impatient for my daughter to grow older and begin building things with me. I hope and pray my children love creative stuff as much as I do! This was epic Laura!! Amazing job!!
first time seeing this video.. not sure how I missed it... Laura the joy on your face.. says it all. Love all your creative and house videos!!
I caught the live stream that was f*kn spectacular.. thank you for tuning me in
I love this build, so glad to see Adam on there, He has been one of my heroes in building stuff for years, and I just got to meet him myself last month!!!! Keep building, I’ll keep watching!
Alternative to Burning Man, we introduce Burning Woman 2020 in Koln. 😆
My favorite line. “I had help with this.” Beautiful project, love it!
Watched the Livestream yesterday; and then watched the premier of this live a few minutes a go, but I had to watch again because of the great images... the slo mo, the stills... all just fantastic.
Thanks for the great recap of the build, and the great start to my week.
Aaah, I was so hoping to hear 'Fire Starter' from The Prodigy hahaha. It looks amazing!!! Please keep going on with these beautiful crazy projects :D
Wow! It's really a supernova simulator. They just do it really really fast & with most of the elements we know & love on the periodic table. Great photography and your joy beams through all of it. Great work. Thxs
She's just killing it again!!!! 🔥🔥

Thank you Laura! Wonderful fun during these times . . . much needed!
What fun! I loved this so much. Your enthusiasm makes it so great to follow you in all of your undertakings. Thanks for taking us along with you on your wild ride through life.!
The smallest sparks of thought grow into the biggest ideas.
I wish I had an ounce of the talent and happiness both you and Adam possess! Well done,
Amazing Laura well done! I use to do this by hand of course every Easter when I was 10 years old in 1986 with my mates. The sparks in the dark is spectacular! 😃
Hi Laura, I am a long time subscriber and I love how you inspire myself and others to try new things. Thanks for the inspiration 👍🏽🇨🇦
So fun watching you and Adam geek out over this project. 👍
You're so cool. Great to see you getting this kind of visibility. Thanks for keeping things fun!
That was an amazing creation Laura! Always awesome to see a collaboration with Adam too! Cheers!!
Tolles Video :) . Zu sehen, wie du mit Adam zusammenarbeitest, macht mich glücklich.
Thank you for that. It was much appreciated --something to raise the spirits.
Great video. Beautiful on two tracks: 1 being just the sure fun watching fiery things go around and around. Very much installation art peace and kinetic sculpture. And 2. The still photos of you with it are captivating. The cemetery of the sparks looks amazing! Very cool, great job.

Good to see you and excited for your new built...
Two of my fav people.. lighting it up.. thanks yt❤️
Laura, this was a blast to watch. What a creative mind you have. Thanks for posting this.
Cooles Projekt. Genau das richtige für Silvester 2020. Und morgen rennen alle zu den Baumärkten um sich die Teile fürs zusammen bauen zu holen. Denn Mittwoch wird ja wieder heruntergefahren.
That was a super cool live stream, very glad to have been able to catch that one!!
Think big! So beautiful, thanks Laura and all the best! Christian

And now this beautiful thing made my day and I’m full of positive emotions and I love these sparkles so so much!
I have to say. I'm always inspired by what you do. And look forward to the thing you build or design. Thank you..
Grave proyect Laura , keep on and God Bless You , regards from the city of Querétaro, México

Those long-exposure shots are stunning, Great stuff!
Herrlich Verrückt 😁 Hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht zuzuschauen. Viele Grüße aus dem Münsterland 👋🏻
Dangerous - a little. Awesome - ABSOFRACKINLUTELY!!!! I watched the livestream. The sheer joy you and Adam had with the results was infectious. There might have been some hooting, hollering, and clapping here in Texas. :)
An aerial shot of that spinning parallel the ground would be amazing. Seriously dangerous, but it would look really cool.
Super fun project! 😃
I just want to stand as close to it as possible and look up!
Fireworks are sorted for New Year, thats for sure!
That was a great Stream!!
Im so jealous on you, for knowing Adam, such an Hero...
Im dont know that ne was in that stream ... im freaking out
All Adams battery on a spring idea needed is some wires run down to the steel wool to extend the battery contacts.
Though Corona-mess still goes on steel wool industry has been saved 😂😉.
That was beautiful. Science, art and engineering combined is always fabulous. Thank you for sharing.
I had to pause and come comment.. your welds make me so jealous. They are so smooth and clean. So yeah.. I have Weld Envy.
Now add a row of LED's to the cross bar and turn it into a sparky POV display.
this is such a cool project. i used to spin fire poi back in the day and this totally reminds me of that.

What a dream to have Adam Savage on speed dial. All the dumb stuff I've pulled off in my shop, that massive encyclopedic brain of his.
It was an honor to watch to nerds geek-out about lighting stuff on fire
Dear Laura, … and now I’d like to work out how to build one with my grandkids! That was brilliant. Thanks.
Awesome as usual. Your skills and talent are unreal. As is your passion and personality. The thumbnail photo does not quite capture the magnitude of the structure and scale of the piece. Amazing!
How can something so dangerous, be so soothing?
This makes me happy. A cross-over of two of my favourite makers :)
Man, this channel makes me smile so often!
Even three weeks later (after binging *so much* of the Haus Lise Lotte series) I’m still super-chuffed about the heart I got on my comment on a three-year-old video. These smiles just keep on coming 😊
That was wonderful, just the thing to set up on New Year's Eve. Cool, Dangerous and Beautiful!
The picture in 10:52 is fantastic!!
Yes, the new mythbusters!! With Laura Kampf, Simone Giertz and Adam Savage!
Needed a counterbalance on the short arm for stability at higher speed. Add just enough blei/lead to completely balance the propeller on the axle.
v2.0 needs a 2nd arm swivel on the propeller to give the chaotic spinning effect.
As a photographer that was awesome is hard to play with fire!!!
That smile can melt any metal!!!!!
Really great project Laura! You would be a hit at burning man
YOOOO those photos are absolutely magical !!
That was so cool! You should set up "Sparky" again for new years!
You could also fill it with different metals (idk if copper wool exists) so you'd get different colours of sparks
I‘m using Lenovo Laptops for many, many years as a professional programmer. And I‘m always satisfied with them. For private use I‘m using a MacBook and I‘m satisfied too 😃
Absolutely one of the best you have ever done. Thank you.
Respekt!
Endlich mal wieder was richtig cooles.
Danke!!!
Wie passend, da es dieses Jahr kein Feuerwerk zu kaufen gibt.
Grüsse aus Gifhorn

It was super. Thx again for the live stream. Huge thing. Peace&Make 🛠️
WOW! Mesmerizing! Something primal about humans and fire I guess!
Ive seen plenty of fireworks, but this felt up-close and personal!!
You look like a very happy kid in a candy store. Very fun video, and another great "Laura build."
Yeah! That worked. Mind taken OFF of 2020 for a moment of pure happiness!
That was spectacular. Next: BIGGER!
It looked like a portal in the photos! Pretty cool 🤩
WOW! Thanks for the fun at the end of 2020!
The Thumbnail already shows the awsomenes of this project!
Add more sparkles to your (and our) life!
Jan #DrKuebel
What a terrifying but impressive build! It worked spectacularly.
Laura, I love your videos! Any way we can get a weld visor for all those blinding welding shots? Sooooooo bright.
During the "Construction" segment (02:11-03:16) I found myself moving to the music and really getting into how the video and the accompaniment complement each-other.
