    1:43 Little correction there. She doesn't call the player an Okama, she calls HIMself an Okama.
    "What's wrong with being an Okama?! You meanie..."
    Also, Okama isn't just referring to homossexual, it's a term used to describe someone who dresses up as a woman, usually as a gag term to describe a drag queen. There's a variation of that term for men who use female characters in games where you can choose your own gender, it's Nekama (Net [as in internet game] + okama).

    • @shira_yone
      @shira_yone 6 років тому +112

      TwilightWolf032 Yes indeed! In fact not all Okama are necessarily gay, some do it just for fun/laughs or for the sake of it (or worst case scenario, for work and money)
      Also, "Nekama" is actually a general term for guys who posed as a girl online, which obviously includes guys who pretends to be a girl in Netoge, and people in chats and forums as well.

    • @CensoredGaming
      @CensoredGaming  6 років тому +230

      Sorry about that! Gonna pin this comment. And yeah, I'm aware of the other meaning of Okama (お釜 / オカマ). It can be used to mean homosexual but it seems to be more used for both cross-dressing and very 'effeminate' homosexuals, but I thought she was referring to the player and got a little sloppy and over confidant. Normally I ask somebody else to check these sort of things for me, so sorry again.

    I started playing DQ11 few days ago and I remember visiting a village that had a sauna, and while chilling in the sauna with my buddy Erik a lost young girl popped up in the sauna crying looking for her father, we decided to help her out, but I wanted to explore the bath house before leaving, and on the balcony there was a woman standing next to what seemed to be a well, she asked for 20 gold to enter the puff puff, thinking it's some kind of a secret room with treasure I agreed, only to get a black screen with confusing conversation while the lost child was watching. Now this video popped up on the front page of YT to tell me that I puff puffed in front of lost child whom I was supposed to find her father!

      A slap to jog the memory isn't uncommon in amnesia-related comedy, it doesn't necessarily indicate spousal abuse... Besides, the smack is part of the dialogue, within the quotes, indicating it was a sound she made, not the sound of an action, meaning it would most likely have been a very sloppy, wet kiss.
      And how does the memory of spending a likely ridiculous amount of money on a wedding ring make someone a cheapskate?

  • @kailomonkey

    0:00 - 0:06 Funny how the Producers left out the fact that the DQ XI characters Japanese names that are already English are still being changed to other English names in the West. You'd think with the first console release of DQ in a long time that they wouldn't screw up anything with this release.

    • @KazumiKiguma
      @KazumiKiguma 6 років тому +5

      Yeah, how dare they change the great English name of Kamyu to Erik? I mean why would they even? And don't get me started on changing Seinya to Serena. /s
      I'm just pointing out not *all* the names were "already English". Emma to Gemma is strange and Greg to Hendrik seemed unnecessary. The rest weren't changed though? This is just looking up the characters on the wiki though, so it might not be listing everyone.

    • @rob19ny
      @rob19ny 6 років тому +2

      No need to take it literally. But I'll correct you. Kamyu is the Romaji. His name is Camus. Seinya is the Romaji. Her name is Sena with the spanish curve above the 'n'. But the popular spelling on the internet is Senya. Since that is the popular spelling, I'll give you a name that is similar to Senya, which is Kenya. A perfectly understandable name in English. The difference is 1 letter. The changes are pointless in the end. The producer himself posted all the name changes on twitter. That is how I knew about it, hence the existence of my comment. lol

    • @ZipplyZane
      @ZipplyZane 6 років тому +7

      Neither of those names are already in English, though. Camus was the (last) name of a French philosopher, and Seña is, as you say, Spanish. It means "sign."
      Erik and Serena, on the other hand, are actual names in English. It's not about being able to say the names--Japanese games are always easy to say, if spelled phonetically.

    • @rob19ny
      @rob19ny 6 років тому +1

      ZipplyZane Seems as though you're talking to me. Did I say those names were already in English? I didn't. If I did, please quote me. My comments are not edited. Rukifellth brought those names up and said "not all the names were already in English", hence why I stated "No need to take it literally" because it seemed they interpreted "DQ XI characters Japanese names that are already English are still being changed to other English names" as all of the party members. That was a vague statement that did not specify the amount of characters that were affected. As Rukifellth showed, they did not do enough research before replying to my comment, hence asking if "the rest weren't changed though?" and that they checked the wiki. Just thought I should clear this up.

    • @ZipplyZane
      @ZipplyZane 6 років тому +2

      To be honest, it wasn't clear to me what you were saying. I didn't even know what you were referring to with "don't take it literally." "I didn't say _all__ the names were in English" would have been much clearer.
      Since you still objected to even those names being changed, I just read your complaint as including those names as being "English" names. Plus you call "Kenya" an English name because it's a word that English speaking people can say. It's still a, well, Kenyan name, not an English one.
      I apologize for not getting what you meant. You just mean that there were some English names, and those English names didn't need to be translated. In general, I agree with that statement.

      Oh dear. Listen, if you're okay with paying the full price for a product which contains objectively less content than it's original version, than that's you're problem. I for my part prefer to get the complete package if I'm forced to pay full price. Censorship, contet cutting, etc. is anti-consumer on all fronts, and I won't waste my money on inferior versions. Which makes importing stuff a beautiful alternative, cause complaining towards the suits who think they know their customers better than said customers themselves only listen to the statistics and negative revenue.

    A little American cultural trivia behind the first bit of censorship shown: "No, I have no tomatoes! I have no tomatoes, today." is a reference to a song written by Frank Silver and Irving Cohn and published on July 19, 1923, called, "Yes! We have no Bananas." (Yes, there are some of us here old enough to remember it, from back in the day, but none of them is me. I remember it from an American Studies/Integrative Arts class I took in college, back in the early nineties... ; sourced from Google and Wikipedia)
    *Yes! We Have No Bananas* (Silver & Cohn, 1923)
    "There's a fruit store on our street
    It's run by a Greek.
    And he keeps good things to eat
    But you should hear him speak!
    When you ask him anything, he never answers 'no.'
    He just 'yes'es you to death, and as he takes your dough
    He tells you
    'Yes, we have no bananas
    We have-a no bananas today.
    We've string beans, and onions
    Cabbageses, and scallions,
    And all sorts of fruit and say
    We have an old fashioned to-mah-to
    A Long Island po-tah-to
    But yes, we have no bananas.
    We have no bananas today.'
    Business got so good for him that he wrote home today,
    'Send me Pete and Nick and Jim; I need help right away.'
    When he got them in the store, there was fun, you bet.
    Someone asked for 'sparrow grass' and then the whole quartet
    All answered
    'Yes, we have no bananas
    We have-a no bananas today.
    Just try those coconuts
    Those walnuts and doughnuts
    There ain't many nuts like they.
    We'll sell you two kinds of red herring,
    Dark brown, and ball-bearing.
    But yes, we have no bananas
    We have no bananas today."
    Yes, we are very sorry to inform you
    That we are entirely out of the fruit in question
    The afore-mentioned vegetable
    Bearing the cognomen 'Banana.'
    We might induce you to accept a substitute less desirable,
    But that is not the policy at this internationally famous green
    grocery.
    I should say not. No no no no no no no.
    But may we suggest that you sample our five o'clock tea
    Which we feel certain will tempt your pallet?
    However we regret that after a diligent search
    Of the premises
    By our entire staff
    We can positively affirm without fear of contradiction
    That our raspberries are delicious; really delicious
    Very delicious
    But we have no bananas today.
    Yes, we gotta no banana
    No banana
    We gotta no banana today.
    I sella you no banana.
    Hey, Marianna, you gotta no banana?
    Why this man, he no believe-a what I say.
    Now whatta you want mister?
    You wanna buy twelve for a quarter?
    No? well, just a oneofadozen?
    I'm-a gonna calla my daughter.
    Hey, Marianna
    You gotta piana
    Yes, banana, no
    No, yes, no bananas today
    We gotta no bananas.
    Yes, we gotta no bananas today."

    Of course, none could quite beat DQ9's, ahem, "Puff-Puff". Apart from sometimes getting assaulted with it by Morag (and probably a few other foes I haven't faced), which only incapacitates you for a turn, there's a kid in the Hunter's Yurts who offers you one after you do a sidequest for her. Fortunately for the age rating, and unfortunately for you, said puff-puff involves getting your head stuck between two sheep rears. Which, let's face it, you probably deserve if you expected an actual puff-puff at this point in the series, and from a kid, no less.
