'Thunder Bumpers' and old term used by the still living legend, Jerry Foster, news helicopter pilot in Phoenix! Rain, what a relief when it was 118 degrees in the shade!
Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve been past those Cadillacs dozens of times and never stopped; always wanted to. Its kinda difficult when you’re pulling a semi.
🙋♀️Hello Russ! Good morning too! We get deep sounding thunder rumbles. Happy Father's Day, I hope it is as wonderful as you! Lots of early birds beating the heat to see the cars sticking up out of the ground. Neat! I liked the Cowboy! The vendor selling spray paint sure was smart! Enjoyed your video.
Thanks for the tour! I will most likely be entering TX by I-40 fairly soon, my first time by that route, so it's nice to have a preview. Good to know about the wind. Happy Fathers Day, BTW!
Big Wave Russ....Nice Cars....Have a safe trip and make sure to stay out of the way of those storms in Texas...Wow some of them are wicked tornadoes and windstorms....Take care, Be safe and Thank you for the share...CDHx2
Great trip into Texas! Always nice traveling with you. Did not know people spray painted the Cadillacs. Weird but interesting. See ya next time! Safe travels!
Well, views from the freeway are always sparce. I hope on your way back to do the original 66 as much as possible. So many cool little buildings and whats left of tiny towns. At night all the Neon is a special treat.
Near the Hooters off 40 twords town is where the buried Caddys were till 1997 when they relocated (2 miles west) them out there..so in "97 those new cars in the new location were complete with original faded paint for awhile...the old ones were a little closer to 40 also...TY..!
I read the idea behind the art work is to show the evolution of the Cadillac fins over the years. Diesel at the Quartzsite Chevron was $2.44 yesterday.
@@lindawoody8501 Diesel in Quartzsite went up to $5.29 a gallon this spring (2022). It was $2.44 at the same station January 22, 2021 inauguration day. LGB.
Welcome to Texas Russ. Yes a lot of it is flat but there are some beautiful mountains in West Texas and some great hill country along the Balcones Fault. You can spend a life time seeing some of the cool places in Texas. But I will tell you this. If there was no Texas I would want to live in Arizona. Its an awesome state.
Man those wind mills sure are moving man I live here in California we have some in our mountains in Livermore ca and they don’t put out that many rpm like that those are putting out some power
You wake up early in the morning, drive all day long and into the night, and you're still in Texas. Everything is big in Texas, did you hear about the man who fell into the swimming pool and started hollering, Don't flush it, don't flush it!
Totally enjoy your vids. All the old vids have been interesting. There is a fellow in Amarillo who makes jewelry out of the paint chips. The old farm was a lot more interesting, the cars were not all destroyed.
Pretty cool. I remember Cadillac Ranch with the stock paint jobs. What's knocking around in your van? It seems like it makes the noise when you leave your camp spot and get on the road. There's always something knocking around back there I suppose. Enjoyed the ride as usual. Safe travels.
if you come back interstate 40 just after you cross over into new mexico you kneed to stop at that Russell truck and travel center. i think it exit 392 or close but anyway they have a free collection on old cars and memorabilia thats really cool. well worth the stop and leg stretching better than the rest area a couple miles earlier.
I'm watching this a couple of years later. Next time you go through this area, pull off in Glenrio, NM. The town sits across that Texas / New Mexico state line and was in its hey day in the late 50s, early 60s until I-40 bypassed it. Great ghost town, was even included in Cars with the Glenrio motel. My grandparents ran a service station and cafe there. All of the gas was sold on the Texas side due to cheaper fuel taxes and liquor was sold on the New Mexico side because Deaf Smith County was dry.
Just took a trip to Nebraska last summer and visited Carhenge while in Alliance, Nebraska. Interesting and kind of the same theme as the Cadillacs here. But they are part of a roadside exhibit and a little better preserved.
Russ, another great Video, I passed all of your attractions hundreds of time going back and forth to Cal in my 30 years of trucking but never stopped. what kind of gas mileage are you getting with the van in all of that wind? also how much DEF are you burning out on the open road.
Your video brings back memories! If you go just a few miles north or Amarillo on 287 or a few miles south on 17, you will get away from the flat land! Particularly Palo Duro Canyon! I hope you can check it out! And eat a burger from the park restaurant - they are awesome!
I wish Russ I could remember how it as at its longest. Or how many at its largest /as we would come in to view of it one of us would say, better start now if you want to home for supper. Hahaha enjoy and enjoyed you video Russ thanks again
The Cadillac ranch is a cool spot to visit. I was there 15 years ago. If you are ever near Alliance, NE you should check out "Carhenge", a family duplicated Stonehenge with cars. It is cool!
Hi Russ..Are the wings on the back of the Van working as well as you thought? Better mileage or when the trucks come by do they upset the van? Just asking for a friend..
Russ, tell us more about the wind tabs. I’ve asked on a few forums if they help with stability and the only responses I get are that they don’t improve gas mileage. Not what I was asking.
Well worth the stop. Been buy a lot an never stopped. Now stop every time. Was close last time for virus a couple of months ago. A great collection to see especially for the price. Free.
We went here about 5 years ago & there was no spray paint on them. Interesting thing is that these cars were buried whole so below ground level the cars are complete & pristine but above ground level they are stripped shells.
We were there a couple of years ago. Fumes from all the fresh spray paint was harsh for me anyway. I did not spray. I do know there was a gent who sold cans of the spray paint sitting next to the entrance and he had cartons of the stuff. Nearly everyone had a can in hand. Interesting but not as nice as I had expected. Very very sprayed over with messages and names.
Hi Russ ... Stop dating yourself... Stop and Film ? Film is from the old days... Stop and do some Video... or, Shoot some Footage ... NO FILM ! okay.. Thanks.. For not saying Film... Nice Video... Stay Healthy and Safe !! ;)
Valet parking
All stacked up nicely
Beautiful country we live in. Nice journey. Thanks. 😊👍
Good Amarillo by Morning.Thanks Russ.

Good morning Russ! Glad to be traveling with you on a nice Saturday 🌅. Nice stops seeing the Cadillacs and RV park along the way. Peace 🙋
Another fun side trip! Thank you. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
thank you for this video. We visted cadillac ranch back in the 70's (i believe). Good memories.
Good day to you Russ!! I stream your videos to my TV so EVERYTHING is BIGGER in Texas!!
🙋♀️Hello Russ! Good morning too! We get deep sounding thunder rumbles. Happy Father's Day, I hope it is as wonderful as you! This is exciting! Not that I don't enjoy all of your videos and the territory you cover - but I'm honestly excited and watching every moment ha!
Big Sky😁 Beautiful
Glad to see Texas!
You can bring your own spray paint,We were just there last week,All that spray paint probably weighs more than the car it self,Fun to visit!
I may be an old dog myself, but I have never felt the need to mark my territory. I hate taggers. Thanks for the video, Russ!
When I was young, I marked my territory with beer cans.
Great Video Russ!😎
The Beast must have a great suspension, Russ. I never feel the rough roads at all. 🤠
Thanks for the tour! I will most likely be entering TX by I-40 fairly soon, my first time by that route, so it's nice to have a preview. Good to know about the wind.
Happy Fathers Day, BTW!
Happy Father’s Day, Russ!! ❤️❤️❤️

Loved it ❤️ Gosh I miss home
Wow leaving the rv park at 5:30 am. I can’t imagine that. By the time my boss gets up and ready maybe it’s 9/10 if I’m lucky lol
Nice! Safe travels Russ.
Safe travels.
THANKS
Great trip into Texas! Always nice traveling with you. Did not know people spray painted the Cadillacs. Weird but interesting. See ya next time! Safe travels!
I passed the Cadillac Ranch a number of times... Too bad doors, trunk lids were stolen over the years.....
Well, views from the freeway are always sparce. I hope on your way back to do the original 66 as much as possible. So many cool little buildings and whats left of tiny towns. At night all the Neon is a special treat.
I will be travelling through the opposite way next week!
Nice road trip
Great video! First time I saw those Cadillacs was August 77’. They haven’t changed a bit!

Diesel at the Quartzsite Chevron was $2.44 yesterday.
Diesel in NW AZ along the I-40 corridor was $4.94 today (April 25, 2022). I've seen it well over $5.00 per gallon around the area, too.
@@lindawoody8501 Diesel in Quartzsite went up to $5.29 a gallon this spring (2022). It was $2.44 at the same station January 22, 2021 inauguration day. LGB.
Thanks Russ for the Journey👍
Hey Russ while in Amarillo go and see Palo Duro Canyon just south of Amarillo
Welcome to Texas.

Since you are on the road traveling, can you give a review of your wifi/internet setup? Include links to products.
There is a similar place in Alliance, NB called car henge. It's a lot of fun to see.
this a great video. Thank you for sharing.
Back in the 90s, the cadillacs were a mile or two closer to town. They were moved due to Amarillo expanding west.
Totally enjoy your vids. All the old vids have been interesting. There is a fellow in Amarillo who makes jewelry out of the paint chips. The old farm was a lot more interesting, the cars were not all destroyed.
We will be taking the same route to Texas this Sept in our rig, Honey wants to visit her Daddy in Anna Texas....
Morning Russ
Scoot over kenneth jones im riding along too. 😁
AMARILLO BY MORNING by George Strait.....
Cool vid Russ.

Plus there’s a ole guy in the back that reminds me of you. LOL he speaks to you

And it is good to see you in my neck of the woods! I am an Amarillo native who now lives in Canyon!
Just took a trip to Nebraska last summer and visited Carhenge while in Alliance, Nebraska. Interesting and kind of the same theme as the Cadillacs here. But they are part of a roadside exhibit and a little better preserved.
good early morning land of my birth russ Texas san antonio

The Land of Cotton
I thought Georgia was the land of cotton, from the song Dixie, that used to play on all of the educational films in schools in Georgia.
Your video brings back memories! If you go just a few miles north or Amarillo on 287 or a few miles south on 17, you will get away from the flat land! Particularly Palo Duro Canyon! I hope you can check it out! And eat a burger from the park restaurant - they are awesome!

Those were not there when my dad's military assignment was at Amarillo AFB in 1961.
The Cadillac ranch is a cool spot to visit. I was there 15 years ago. If you are ever near Alliance, NE you should check out "Carhenge", a family duplicated Stonehenge with cars. It is cool!
This Is Like Pixar’s Cars
How many miles you have on the van

You missed Russell's Truck stop. About 1mile west into New Mexico. Old car Museum
Well worth the stop. Been buy a lot an never stopped. Now stop every time. Was close last time for virus a couple of months ago. A great collection to see especially for the price. Free.

Howdy Russ, All, ya'll ready and rarin' to go. I'ma fixin' to ride along, there's more to see than you can shake a stick at!
AS WE SAY IN TEXAS RUSS. HOWDY NEIGHBOR
I think that gates designed to let people in and not let cattle or horses out.
That land is so flat, you can see your dog run away for two days lol 🐾
👍 ❗️
Like from🇺🇦 Ukraine❤.
Well buddy when I die, throw my body in the back. Drive me to the junkyard in my Cadillac!
There's something I can miss they destroyed it
Much prefer Arizona landscape etc

2 legged cows with paint cans.............america
it is not that flat only in the flats
the gate is to allow people in but cows cannot get out
Looks like the Slabs.
Russ people are traveling. Got stimulus cash💸💸 vacationing
SEEING THE U S A 🇺🇸
What was the vendors
Selling 🤷♂️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏿♂️🤩
🙏👍👍🇺🇸😀😃🙏
It is a shame the owner of the Cadillac Ranch allowed spray paint.
It is ashame they ruined those cars, in another 20 years those cars will be unrecognizable.
Nothing more dumbed down than that "attraction".
Please tell me you wore a mask. All those people at the Cadillac Ranch and I didn't see one person wearing a mask .
The wind always blow so bad around there you’d have to have a catcher mit to catch
Texas looks very unappealing compared to other Western states, especially Arizona, Idaho etc. It just does not seem to have the same feel to it.
The Cadillac ranch is so ugly
I surprised so many people visit scrap yard
