Thank you so much for uploading this. I grew up in Amarillo and miss it. Beef Burger is only a handful of blocks from my childhood home. 🥲 I was a latchkey kid and ran around 6th Street. So much of it is the same as it was in the 90s!
If you cross into New Mexico from Texas on I-40, take the very 1st exit and visit Jerry’s Travel Plaza/ Truck Stop. Absolutely amazing super cool FREE Car Museum inside, plus other vintage things. It’s fantastic! I love it.
So glad we found your channel. We've not been RVing in Texas yet but we will have heard of Cadillac Ranch. Thanks for showing us some other spots. 72oz steak!! Can you imagine?! That's some strong will! Never heard of Slug Bug Ranch. What fun!! Thank you for sharing. We are new subscribers. Excited for more adventures with you!
Hey Dan..great video about Amarillo. Been thru there a few times but haven't really explored much..tho I did see Palo Duro Canyon. Those old RVs are proof if you build something right it will last ! Caprock Canyons is one of the parks up that way.. supposed to be real nice. That was a cool camping spot 👍😁
We checked out the RV museum and Slug bug ranch, but you saw so much more than we did. Nifty! Oh, we parked there for the night also! It was super windy when we were there.
Honestly, it’s almost always super windy here. We’re completely flat, high up on a caprock with very few trees so hardly any windbreaks. 20-25 MPH is considered a breeze around these parts. You can see for miles and the sunrise/sunsets are incredible!
That helium monument used to be on I-40 and Nelson where the Quarter House Museum is now. They picked it up with a helicopter and moved it to its current location so they could build the AQHA offices and museum.
I was hoping you would show the Helium Monument. It used to be at the Tourist Bureau in the middle of town right off the interstate. We had to stop at this every time we went to Albuquerque . I found out that they picked it up with a helicopter and moved it to its current location. I had no idea that there were so many things to do in Amarillo. It was usually just a stop over on the way to see my grandmother. Thanks for sharing all these cool places. We will definitely be putting these in a list of must sees. Wow what an awesome camping view. LOL I don't know if Rose is But her boyfriend sure isn't.
I love the details of the statues at the Quarter Horse Museum. When I went to Amarillo that was the first place I stopped. The second place was The Big Texan at lunch time we're a man sitting two tables over got the 72 oz steak! I was waiting to see how much he could eat but at the end of the hour he and his son started finishing it up. Although he didn't get the steak for free apparently some of the people around me had taken up a collection to help pay for his attempt! Nice people in Amarillo
I just saw this one, and I do miss my native state. I didn't realize Rose was so old, lol. Thanks for a tour of Amarillo brother. Did you make it to Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone...? Take care and may Father YHVH bless.
Texas is a great state for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video! I didn't make it to Amarillo. However I travel on. Thanks and may you be blessed as well!!
That rest area looked like the one we stopped at, on our way to Fort Lancaster Historic site. But they probably all look the same. We ended up sleeping at Walmart in Ft. Stockton.
Thank you so much up wonderful video.

Thank you Paul! Yes both canyons are pretty cool. I agree about the older RVs. One reason why I bought my older Roadtrek. Take care!
I could have spent hours at the rv museum. Pretty awesome!
Yeah it was pretty neat. I only showed a fraction of the rv's that were there. Thanks for watching.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
I lived in Amarillo for 19 years and never knew there was an RV museum...oops!
I was surprised as well. It's pretty neat.

Lots to see and do there. It is a great spot to spend the night. To bad it was windy when you two were there. See you in A this winter.

I really like the RV museum but I didn't notice it on my last trip to Amarillo in 2003
Yes very nice people in Amarillo. I enjoyed my visit there.
I'm not sure how long the museum has been there. The visitor center recommended it to me, and I'm glad I stopped.

Hi internet family
Hi
That rest area looked like the one we stopped at, on our way to Fort Lancaster Historic site. But they probably all look the same. We ended up sleeping at Walmart in Ft. Stockton.
It may have been. Great view from that rest stop.
@@TheDanVan I doubt it, the one I'm thinking of is South of I-10. That was the first time we were out there in our travel trailer, two years ago.
Yeah you are correct. I was just south of Amarillo.
It's in the panhandle
Very true.
@@TheDanVan I live 2 hrs away from there lol
Just camped with Dan and he's a great guy. If you ever get the chance to meet him say Hi. Travel safe brother.
Thanks Glyn! Take care. Hope to see you this winter.
They dont have purse cards?
IDK. Not sure what that is??
@@TheDanVan Oh hi! It sounded like you said you didn't enter the big Texan restaurant because they didn't have some sort of card?
@@1776Based Oh, post cards. I didn't buy any post cards at the gift shop.
What else is new
Don't know, I haven't been back.
