I am a diabetic with a host of health issues. I’ve survived cancer twice. My doctor put me on Ozempic two years ago to help control my glucose levels.
I have no side effects and my numbers are perfect. It also motivated me to eat a healthier diet and move my body every day.
I do have a lot of loose skin. But the benefits outweigh the negatives.
    Ozempic was made for diabetes

I naturally lost over 130 pounds- I discovered a huge amount of food allergies I had of which I wasn’t aware. I also have EDS. My face will never look like it did when I was at an unhealthy weight, or younger. That’s fine. I look like I’ve smiled a lot, and not slept well. Both true. Losing a good amount of weight without Ozempic has the same facial results that happen with Ozempic. When I decided to stop that practice, the wrinkles that lie in wait caught up with me - it's going to happen, no matter what - maybe not so bad if you lose it slowly and you are younger. That said, I earned every line on my face and every wrinkle in my sagging birthday suit. I used Ozempic to help "aid" my weight loss journey as I had over 100lbs to drop.
I did it very slowly, it took me 1.5 years to lose the weight, in combination with MASSIVE lifestyle changes. Meal prep, mindful portion sizes, clean eating "80/20" rule and consistent exercise/activity 5-7 days a week.
I can happily say that at 35 my face didn't "drop." My ass got smaller, but it's more toned and lifted with consistent strength training workouts. I'm perfectly okay with that!!
I think this "theory" will vary from person to person. Don't let information like this "scare" you from taking Ozempic. Use wisely :)

Thank you for sharing this, I plan on going very slowly. My first doctor's appointment to discuss is tomorrow. Although I am 20 years older I am hoping that going slowly and strength training will help. My question For you is- have you stopped using it and if you have, Have you seen any weight gain? Would you plan on using it for the rest of your life? Or do you plan on using it on and off to maintain your weight I was just wondering if you've had any effects after stopping, for example,
It being more easy to gain weight? I appreciate any insight you have and any advice for someone about to embark on the journey.

@@ttthecat Thank you for your question! I took Ozempic for 20 months to lose 100lbs. Instead of suddenly stopping the medication, I gradually weaned off it. It has been 10 months since I stopped taking Ozempic, and I have not gained any weight back. In my opinion, the key to success is continuing to make lifestyle changes. After stopping Ozempic, I did notice a slight increase in my appetite, and my portion sizes are slightly bigger than when I was actively trying to lose weight. Personally, I have found that maintaining my weight is much easier than trying to lose weight. Best of luck on your weight loss journey. Believe you can do this :)

100% going to judge hard. The majority who contributed to the shortage made it practically impossible for the people who need this life saving, that majority gave insurance companies reasons to not give Ozempic out.
Ozempic happens to be the least terrifying out all of those life saving pens and the easiest to use. It also happens to be one of the least nauseating semaglutides out there. Also the needle that needs to be injected in you subcutaneously is one of the least painful. It hurts but it’s way better than Trulicity. Trulicity, you can’t even think about eating if you’re always nauseous. With Ozempic, you just don’t feel hungry.
I will judge to the heavens and the hells. I don’t care about people losing their ass or their face because of Ozempic. I care about the lives we are losing because of the lack of access these VAIN assholes. I care about MY LIFE. Unlike many people who believe Diabetics deserve to suffer and die, I have family who love and care about me. I worked my ass off to try to live. I am still trying my hardest.
I have 0 sympathies for the vanity of the people who abused this life saving medication. I do have 100% sympathy if it’s the case of, “Life saving medication did the life saving but now I have a weird face.” That, I have empathy for and will not judge.

I think it is highly unethical and it shows how bad people want to be skinny even desperate enough to take something they DO NOT need. There are even programs that have “private” doctors helping people get a prescription for it while those who actually need it are suffering. I can’t imagine if I no longer had access to my life-saving heart medication because of an online trend. I would be devastated and people have a right to be.

Rapid weight loss, all over causes skin to sag, and wrinkles to be seen.
It's like taking a balloon, blowing it up to max capacity, waiting a few days, and then letting the air out. The longer the balloon sits with all that air, the more stretched out it becomes, and the more it sags and wrinkles when the air is released.
Normally, as we age, we lose collagen (the stuff that keeps our skin stretchy), and our skin sags, and wrinkles.
After so many years of extra weight putting pressure on our skin, stretching it out, when we lose the fat (pressure), our skin is like that balloon. Our skin will get shriveled up, like that deflated balloon, and our skin will become wrinkled and saggy.
We were meant to gain weight later in life to protect our joints from popping out, and protect our bones from breaking.
If people keep active, and eat healthy during their life, the easier it is to regulate weight. Plus, the more flexible you are as you get older, the less of a chance you have for gaining that much weight. Flexibility helps with joints and bones better than weight gain.
Drastic weight loss or gain is harsh on our bodies.
When you notice the extra five to ten pounds, do something immediately. Don't wait until you're 20 to 50 to 100 pounds overweight. It gets harder to maintain a healthy weight when your body is used to that much excessive fat.

I have really thought about checking out bioientical hormone therapy , to gain back some of my “oomph” just love yourself and don’t be so hard on yourself and don’t seek out quick fixes , instead seek out being present in life , learning and making meaningful and lasting lifestyle changes . 5 years ago my doctor would have had me on a minimum of 5 prescription drugs, but I was able to make changes that have my labs at peak performance and body functioning as it should .

I have to take it for Lupus related insulin resistance. I just hit the 12 month mark and I’ve lost about 15 lbs. I’m not obese, but I’m still about 25lbs “overweight”. HOWEVER, weight loss isn’t mine or my PP’s goal, LIVING longer and saving my pancreas and Kidneys is the goal. There are other semi-glutides that are actually far more effective and are prescribed for weight loss. I don’t understand why people who need to lose weight for health reasons (and do not have insulin issues or high A1C) do not take these (ex: wegovy)

Thank you for trying to give realistic advice and not just saying "don't do it then". I'm not gonna use Ozempic because I don't mess with heavy meds like that but I do want to lose weight the natural way and I struggle with either not eating anything or eating everything. So, as I get older, I might have problems with fast postpartum weightloss if I gain a lot during pregnancy. (Way too early to be concerned with that but I like planning ahead)

These meds work differently from person to person. I'm type 2 Diabetic (14 years now) and I am 5'1, weighed 162 lbs last summer. I dieted, had a trainer for years, and the weight would not move, and my A1C stayed high, 6.7 to 7.5. Doc put me on Ozempic May 2023, and I had a breast reduction (5lbs + was removed). By Feb 2024, my A1C dropped to 5.7, and my weight dropped to 113 lbs without exercise. I was on the lowest dose 0.5. I maintain my weight by making healthy food choices, rollerskating, and doing Teakwondo with my 14 year old. Staying active is very important once the weight is gone and to maintain a healthy A1C. No side effects. I have a small frame, and 162 lbs was causing heart strain, knee and back pain, arthritis pain, migraines weekly, poor posture, and high cholesterol. I have friends and family that have had totally different results. Every body responds differently. I also had stroke symptoms in May 2023, Ozempic has lowered my cholesterol as well. Good luck to those that really need OZ.

My mom lost a lot of weight rapidly from a massive change in diet due to a health issue. Definitely shows in her face compared to before, since it all happened the year she turned 50 and hit menopause.
My mom is still content with things because she's healthier than before she got sick because of it. But I know she'd prefer if sje could've lost the weight more slowly.

Speaking as a disabled person, having 10lbs of weight on you (130lbs instead of 120lbs for example) can cushion a fall and protect against broken bones. Talk to your doctor

    • @lisaaustin4561
      @lisaaustin4561 4 місяці тому +3

You should be lifting weights if you want your bones in shape. Not gain 10 pounds you don’t need. If you get osteoarthritis it won’t matter if you weigh 240. You’re going to break. This is even more important for a disabled person. You don’t need a broken leg on top of everything else. HRT is even more important.

The side effect I guess I have seen is that I’m nauseous a lot especially the day or two after I take the shot . Apparently this is normal and will go away once my body gets used to it. I was on Metformin for about 20 years and it just was not controlling my numbers anymore, where I had been always between 110-115 I was more like 190-200 and then drop to 36

I drink electrolytes constantly and take tons of vitamins and minerals so I'm not getting malnutrition. And not only is the weight flying off, but all the healing processes that happen during fasting are making my skin GLOW. Years of sun damage and stretched skin from weight are just disappearing. Texture and fine lines are fading and my skin tone is evening out. It's like luxury skincare on crack, no lie. If people knew about this, I think dermatology would just exist to treat medical problems because there would be no more need for cosmetic treatments. I'm being very careful not to develop an ED, but the results with my skin are beyond anything I expected

ّI had "ozempic face" from being on ADHD medications for a year. it was the hardest thing for a 24 year old to see how I aged 5 years in the last 2 years. I would look at my photos and just mourn my youth. I stopped the medication and even when I gained back the weight my face was still different, now I'm slowly starting to see it go back to how it used to be. I dont think it'll ever be 100% the same but I can at least recognise myself and easily relate to how I looked like before. don't lose hope but just have patience and compassion for yourself

Beware of potential extremely dangerous side effects. I’m a type 2 diabetic, started with Ozempic and it made me extremely sick and blew out my gallbladder, had to undergo surgery to have it removed. Then I heard Mounjaro was better, worked better, less side effects. Wrong - I had I had some slight nausea on and off, but thought I was ok. Until I wasn’t. About a year later, last December, I got violently ill with a bad case of pancreatitis, in the hospital for 2 days, thought I was going to die. I was on 7.5 at the time. I laid off Mounjaro for a month, went back down to 2.5 for another month, then bumped up to 5 and decided to stay there permanently. Until I landed back in the hospital for 3 days a couple weeks ago, this time with acute pancreatitis. I REALLY thought I would die. And apparently you can absolutely die from it. Obviously I just cannot tolerate these types of drugs. Back on insulin for now. 😞
