I’ve had a few people ask how I do my decoupage papers so I thought since I was creating some for this contest piece it would be the perfect time to show you all how I go about it. I’ll put some Amazon links for the things that I use - but really, you can get them from anywhere. Like I said- the paper I used was from the Dollar Tree so get things where you can.

Beautiful! And the idea of the dollar tree coloring paper instead of tissue paper is really intriguing because of the flexibility in printing out custom downloaded designs. Really great resource you showed us on google. I can't wait for you to be in the collab. Seriously, 500 is nothing compared to what your channel will become. Trust me. :-)
Yeah, I had been using the tissue paper options that you order, but they alway took WEEKS to get to me. And I’m impatient soooo…. This was my workaround 😂. And as always, Kim- THANK YOU! You always lift my spirits, and they are pretty high right now with my 500 so that says a lot 😉

Pure genius ❤. I made my own drawers from cardboard to store craft items. Printing on the kiddie paper is so cool.

Great job! I just found you a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed watching your transformations. I would really like to know how you print on tissue paper. You mentioned about printing on tissue paper, but actually only used the heavier paper. I’ve tried several different ways of printing on tissue, but I just haven’t found a good technique that doesn’t mess up in my printer. I have ordered and used full sheet, clear, matte labels that is actually working very well, that might be something that would work for you as well.

I showed the newsprint paper here because I knew it would be easier for most people to do and I go back and forth between the two types of paper depending on what I’m doing at the time. I should do a video on tissue paper, it’s a bit of a pain. But it’s essentially the same process except with tissue paper I layer it on top of a thick photo paper to go through the printer. I’ll have to look into the clear labels, that sounds interesting. Thanks for the tip.

This is such great info! Have you tried dipping the paper in water first? I found that makes for a very bubble free application but I have not tried it with newspaper (sketch pad paper)
Thanks! And that wouldn’t work with this paper since it was printed with an inkjet and the ink water soluble. If you printed with a laser printer I think it may work, though. Great tip!

Hi, I just happened into your you tube site. I couldn't quite hear it see the artist you use for floral prints. Could you let me know who you use in your searches. Your work is beautiful.
So happy to have you stop by! In this particular one, I’m using a Paul de Longpre painting. He has a lot of beautiful florals and is one of my favorite artists. But you can really search up anything. I just try to make sure they are old enough to use without issue. But since I favor the look of old oil paintings, that’s not too terribly difficult for me.

Thanks, Bonnie! Not for this particular print. It had little bees on it and it would have made them look a little funny flying sideways 😂. I just want to invest in a larger printer so I can create larger prints, but that will be a ways down the road. I could have also ordered larger prints, but I’m impatient and don’t like waiting for them.

I use either polycrylic or polyurethane - so long as it’s water based. I typically use either Chalk Mountain’s or Varathane’s. But minwax has some as well. Just use whatever your favorite water based topcoat is.

Wont inkjet inks bleed when they get wet?
What kind of printer are you using so that the ink doesn’t smear?
I have a canon inkjet. It’s not a fancy ink or anything. If the paper comes in contact with water, the ink will run. But I haven’t had any issues with applying poly over it. You can also use a spray sealer before you apply the paper if you are having issues.
I could not understand how you said that you found your image’s?
I usually just do a Google image search for images that are over 100 years old or free of legal ties. Usually I look for old paintings as that’s my aesthetic, but you can just search for what you like.

Do you have an ink jet printer or laser? Also what type paper is it? Thanks so much!! I don’t have a laser and wish I could find a work around.😢
I have an inkjet! And the paper I use varies- but I believe in this one I was using the “news print” paper. It’s thinner than regular printing paper, but thicker than tissue paper. You can search for it on Amazon and find a ton of options.

thanks for this video..what method do you use for uneven surfaces? I have a desk with grooves on the drawers and am sceptical as to if it will turn out well.I want to decoupage it with fabric.Thanks
It would depend on the surface. If it was small gaps or something the like- I would just go over them and give the illusion of a smooth surface. If they are wider areas or larger gaps that are actually a part of the design- I would go with it and follow the contours. If they are not a part of the design- I would consider filling them first and then decoupage over that. I hope that helped.

Couldn't get the name of your source for prints. Sounds like PaulPrint?
I usually use Zazzle.com for deco prints. They do take a bit of time to ship, though.
Where do you get your prints from?
I usually just look up old paintings and use those because they are safe to use. Zazzle also has a lot of great options.
What about copyright?
Please go into more detail about that and where to get pictures from.
You have to do research on copyright. Typically the older, the better. I literally just Google words that I like, such as “Victorian dark floral oil painting” and see what pops up. If there’s something that I like, I’ll look into it. But a lot of my favorites are painters that are well past the copyright issues.
PS you mentioned that there is a 24 artist group of video's but I don't see the link to that either...how do I find that?

What if you don’t have a Computer or a printer to print it out how can you buy things like that on the open market
You can order a bunch of really beautiful papers on Zazzle.com. Just look up decoupage paper there. It takes a while to get to you, but they are excellent quality.
A slower walk through of the steps would be better for those of us that are not as tech savvy, please.
I’m sorry about that. I didn’t go in depth into it because most people have a different printer and/or program and the steps themselves would potentially be different.
This is very confusing!
You showed some paper but didn’t show how it fitted in the printer tray.
What printer are you using and how to set it up more clearly.
Keep the talk simple.
I assume this is advanced.
Watch some British people doing videos on decoupage and you will see how Americans use so much language and it can confuse and overwhelm those of us across the pond, it’s too much.
Just some tips to help you going forward.
I wouldn’t show how it fit in the printer tray because everyone has different printers. Most people don’t have my printer, the point is to be able to use what you have. And I’m sorry you didn’t get what you need from my video, I hope you find a video better suited to your needs. Thank you for your comment, Maria.

I liked the speed, we’re all different. If you hit the three little dots upper right you can choose to adjust the playback speed for your individual preference. 👍
