    Great video as always! Only thing I would do different is flip the Stop/Run switch to the stop position and hit the starter a few times to get some oil to the top end before starting the engine. I was glad to see that oil screen was relatively clean as I completely forgot to check mine when I changed the oil on my KPM 200. Good choice of oil also; I run that in all my bikes from the SOHC CB750 to the CB900F and now the KPM. One note to other viewers, make sure your bike is upright when checking the oil level and not on the side stand, otherwise you will overfill it. Thanks for taking the time to make yet another informative video, Herbie!

      If your screen has anything on it when you clean it, then I would clean it at every oil change until it stays clean otherwise just every so often would be sufficient. I will clean my screen once a year. Thanks for watching

    Hi…JH would like to know a lot more about this make of bike, I’m guessing you’re using it more as a commuter bike and your Goldwing as your cruiser. I’m looking at the Suzuki Bergman or the Honda Forza as a smaller commuter than using my GW.

      This bike is a KPR 200, made by Lifan, a Chinese power sports company that builds pretty good quality products. You can view the KPR as well as other bikes at venommotorsportsusa.com It comes in a crate delivered to your door ready for final assembly and prep. Yes I use it as a commuter bike as well as a lightweight fun bike just to enjoy riding around.

      @@Mr.Innovator961 yeah I was skeptical myself! But this is my second Chinese motorcycle and after riding several thousand miles, my opinion has changed and I believe the quality, at least of the KPR is pretty close to Japanese bikes. @herbiesgarage681  Рік тому

      Hello Radio Raj, I have not taken the clutch housing cover off before, but I just looked at mine and it looks like you have 11 bolts around the housing and 4 bolts for the water pump housing 2 of which look like they go all the through the clutch cover. If you have all those bolts out I would think it's just gasket sealer holding it on. A little bit of careful light prying around it should break it free I would think. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, fortunately my bike has been super reliable so far. Good luck with it, let me know if you come across something that might help others and I'll pass it on.

    Hi, did you drain the shipping oil prior to the very first start up when you first got it, or did you let it warm up before draining, refilling, and breaking in?

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  11 місяців тому

      Hello, it seems as though Lifan ships pretty decent oil in the engine. I leave the oil that was shipped in the bike to use for the first idling heat cycle then I drain it out. I run two idling heats cycles before riding the bike, and then I take it out to seat the rings.

    is gear oil different than engine oil? It says in the manual change at 6,000 km.. And it says change the filter at 5000 km but I might just start changing it every oil change it makes sense

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  Рік тому +1

      Yes gear oil has a higher viscosity meaning it’s a thicker oil and has different properties to it, don’t use gear oil in the engine that wouldn’t be good. As far as change intervals, these engines have small capacity on engine oil so the chances of the oil breaking down is greater. Changing it more often than the manual says will be beneficial because of the small capacity, besides that it doesn’t cost very much to do. Thanks for the question Tac

      @@ThaCampinSniperz Hello Tac, the KPR doesn’t use gear oil unless you like to lubricate your chain with it. Gear oil is used on shaft drive motorcycles like my goldwing but the KPR has a chain drive therefore it doesn’t have a reservoir of oil that needs changed. Gear oil change shouldn’t have been included on the maintenance schedule in the owners manual for the KPR. Thanks for the question

      @@herbiesgarage681 Okay that makes sense I was confused. What gas octane do you use I've been using 87 with no issues for 1600 miles so far but I hear people saying to use 93. what do you think?

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  Рік тому

      @@ThaCampinSniperz I actually use both octanes, if you live in an area that has pure gas, use that and 87 is fine. If you’re like me where there isn’t any pure gas around you then I would still run 87 most of the time and an occasional 92 or 93. I have noticed when I run sustainable highway speeds that the higher octane seems to do better, Jmho

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  10 місяців тому

      @@Dabby724 your welcome! The diesel oil has more zinc in it which gives it better anti wear capabilities than standard motorcycle oil. Regular motorcycle oil is absolutely fine to use if you wanted to, this is just my preference. As far as 15/40 goes, unless you’re in a cold climate and you ride in it the 15 won’t matter. The main thing in most cases is the 40 which keeps viscosity in extreme heat and protects your engine. So 10/40 is fine 15/40 is fine also. Hope this helps

    How much engine oil needed?

    • @herbiesgarage681
      @herbiesgarage681  Рік тому +1

      Hello Rajib, You should fill to the full line, start the engine and let it settle and recheck and add if necessary. Always check the oil level with the bike sitting upright and level. The capacity is around 1.3 quarts, but you need to follow the above directions because you may drain less or more than someone else, so always adjust by your oil in the window and try to make it as close to the full mark as possible without over filling. Thanks for the question my friend
