PORSCHE GT3 TOURING 991.2 (2018) / Flying under the radar

  • Our review of this brilliant Porsche GT3. How is it different from the standard GT3 we tested in 2020. Well for a start it has the same amazing 9000rpm 500 horsepower flat six that has simply the best engine sound you'll ever hear. As you'd know, rather than regurgitate its exhaustive spec sheet, we rather take it for a decent blat on some great twisty roads and share that with you. The differences between this car and regular bewinged GT3 are subtle but worth talking about.

Great video and you confirmed all I thought about the 991.2 touring. Something I hanker to own one day - but for now I need the practicality of those rear seats keeps me in a C4S. Let’s hope those valuations do not run away too fast!

What a great watch folks. I also think your review of the 986 S is the best on UA-cam .... If I could afford the GT3 Touring I so would ... hehehe

Excellent video guys! I think my money no object car would be a 991.2 GT3 Manual - although I'd personally have mine with a wing. One sold recently in viola purple metallic and I think it looked incredible! They just seem like a car you could drive every day - Chris Harris certainly seems to with his.

Great review once again, still the best car review youtube channel i think. Only time I don't think so is when you talk up EV's hahaha.
Keep up the great work guys you both make a great team.

Gosh thanks. Well at least you have the diehard petrol-sniffer Mark to shoot me down when I start rabbiting on about EVs. Unless it's an electric Porsche. I think that causes him terrible internal distress.

Hayden, thanks. Yes you can rely on me to bring Stu back down to earth when he starts to evangelise about EV’s. But I admit the Taycan is very impressive

I too identify as a die-hard petrol sniffer, also i Just realised stu's subjected me to more EV propaganda already.

100% agree that you can get a lot of enjoyment from a proper manual sports car for less than $300k - maybe for most of us more enjoyment since you won't be continually worried about damaging it. Most cars are a very poor investment, but there are good ones out there as long as you time it right. Life is too short to drive a boring car all of the time.

Indeed. Maybe it's even possible with the right inexpensive new car. A lot of people seem to be getting a lot of pleasure from their i20N hot hatches. Cheap enough but a long wait. Nice new car smell, and they are not afraid to park them at Coles or give them a hiding. Who knows.

I would love to know what road this video was taken on. Great review.

Thank you. From Sydney, take the Calga turnoff. These shots are between Yarramalong and Peats Ridge, and some twisties on the road out towards Spencer. The road out to Wollombi is also a lovely drive but we don't usually go that far on our shoots, as is the short 11km stretch between Mandalong and Dooralong. But a lot of potholes still to watch out for in getting to these good bits. Hope that helps. On the other reviews we often head west from Sydney to the Kanimbla and Megalong valleys.
