@@blackporscheroadster6415 Not surprised but dismayed. All of the sports cars have been in production for quite some time so they have had years to iron out any build quality problems. I had 7-8 recalls on my 2016 Macan S but I attributed that to it having been the first issue of that model. I wonder if it is the VW influence pushing them to use the cheapest parts wherever possible or a lack of attention in assembly. On my second Macan. Picked up my 991 Touring this weekend. Dealer asked if I would store the car over winter. No way, stick a set of winter tires on, in October, and use the car the entire year. He was a bit surprised!
I wish those would come with the rear seats, for people with very young children like me. So I bought a Turbo and I am happy with it, but in the end the Touring would really be the ultimate 911
I'm on my 3rd 911 - a 992 C2 . My previous two were a 964C2 and a 997C2S. Every time I've driven those cars, I have the same feeling...they are wonderful, I love every minute driving them, etc.
When cars are financial investments or works of “art” they don’t do what they were ostensibly designed to do, which is to be driven. There are plenty of influencers that have beautiful cars that get on them lightly for 500m on an in ramp, drive them for 20 miles, then put them away in a climate controlled garage to be driven again in 6 months and it always make me feel a bit sad. It’s refreshing to see a car that’s been driven and not just for videos.
More than any other car porsche designed these cars to be driven and driven hard not no just be sat in garages. If people want expensive investments to not use buy art not cars leave them for people that well actually enjoy them
Keep it! Drive it until you can’t and then give it to one of your kids or the dog (since it tries to drive it anyway) to carry on the legacy. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to be given a million mile 911 from my Dad to add another million 👍🏻
He's so right. More subtle than the winged versions, with better street manners, similar performance, and a 6-speed to boot - it's the goldilocks of sports cars. This, and (if you live in the USA) a Ford Raptor, and you have everything an auto enthusiast could ask for.

I already loved this guy, but when the sentence 'and an English Bull Terrier lives in here' came up it made my day. Never change Chris. There are people, and there are English Bull Terrier people...
Great piece, interesting to get a real long term look at a car like this. Kind of wish there were more high mileage sports/supercars reviews to see how they all hold up.
Quite interesting that the guy we all love drifting every corner saying he has never done that in his own car, and that his GT3 is a street machine. Love the honesty. We all respect his opinion on cars and it's refreshing he feels comfortable enough to be up front about what car he feels if closest to his heart. Now, if he can really convince people (including me) to put miles on them he will have changed the market for the dying ICE machines. Bravo.

I'd strongly suggest a GT3 is a car you keep.

One year and so far no build quality issues or recalls.
@@cvn6555 I had a 986S and a 987 RS60 Spyder which pre-dated VW influence, so I think they have always been bad. They just play on their heritage and brand and mugs (like us) fall for it. Wealthy celebrities like Harris are OK, as they just pass it on after 50k miles when everything starts to fail.
I would watch this man review tap water and find it interesting. Chris Harris you are a legend my friend.
I really want more of chris Harris on UA-cam again please! I love those videos.
Brilliant car. Mine’s a manual too. All the sales staff were trying to get me to have a pdk but I stuck to my guns and so glad I did. I have a smile on my face every time I drive it. Top quality review Mr Harris as always. 👏
Exactly. I wanted a Turbo but since they don’t have a manual, went with the 991.2 GTS. Nothing like it. Fortunately, I could get a GT3 and the new is also coming with a manual. Looking forward to driving the hell out of it.
You know whats the best part....NO pops-and-bangs.
Thank you Mr Harris, this was a very good Video to start the new year on. I appreciate your views when it comes to cars and "drivers" cars.
Glad that you are using the Banana in the way that it was designed to be used!
One day ill get there, till then, my little Sr20 Sentra puts a smile on face everytime i drive her, aaaaand shes given some hot supercars hidings on twisty mountaim roads 😉
Thank you for being a proper driver! 💪🏼
The ONLY motoring journalist worth listening to. Mr Harris we salute you!
As a 991.2 GT3 6MT owner, I cannot agree more with your review. Glad to see your example has held up so well with daily use. Whenever I get into mine, it gives me the tingles. The car feels well put together and the material finish is excellent.
what do you do for a living to afford such a beautiful car
Medicine. Procedural specialty.
And you drive it daily?
@@pazera66 I have a 2019 GT3RS. I don't daily it, because I need my work truck Monday through Friday, but I definitely put a at least a couple of hours on it every weekend, and track it two or three times per year.
@@xtnuser5338 so its not a daily driver for you. Just saying that chris’s praise is a tad bit ridiculous.
Porsche. There really is no substitute. Gt3 and its family give me goosebumps everytime i hear it redline.
Fantastic, eloquent and honest content. I’d much rather watch his solo UA-cam videos than what he has to endure with those two other clowns on Top Gear!
The looks, the noise, the revs, the manual, the balance, the pedagogy, even the relatability…… 9 outta 10 car right there
I see Chris doing a review, I know that the car has been properly driven.
Engine note is 💥
Mr.Harris, you have been one of my favorite vlogger for a while now and this is exactly why, you're a driver! no gimmicks. just passion and proper driving
Could genuinely listen to Chris Harris talk about cars for days. Thank you for the content and please keep these videos coming. Happy new year!
Bloody riot you are Mr. Harris.
Glad we got a bloke who's being real for those who dream of daily'ing such a machine.
completely agree. there is nothing like the GT3 being made today. 9000rpm, manual, 3000 pounds. everything else is too heavy, turbocharged, or automatic.
Or expensive. I’m sure the T.50 would be a better car in every other aspect.
@@Kmaaq T50 and daily driver ?
Heck, 3000 pounds is too heavy. I say that as a 3RS owner. If I could swap the RS's drive train into my 2000 pound Exige, it would be the shit! (Although it would also be a lot shittier as a daily.)
What a masterpiece of review of the car I love most . Sophisticated but simple , beasty but practical , the 911 never let you down . What a lovely machine . It’s that sort of emotional connection that Chris talks about that’s unbelievable. Best car I have ever driven in my life . We will miss you dearly 911 .
Chris just “gets it” doesn’t he! Like the engine in the 991/992 GT3, we will miss Chris if he is to be completely sucked into the TV world and not be allowed to produce this type of content (the best type).
It's already happening. I just hope the damage that Top Gear has done to his credibility isn't permanent.
@@gottliebdee263 what a load of bullshit, as he said in the video “those who know, know”.
Long live the ordinary! Nothing to add to the comments of Chris Harris. In an age of so many acronyms, and buttons, and lights, and buzzing and whizzing sounds, and alarms (so many alarms), it is good to see that ordinary is still the best; people tend to look at me as an 'old school', grumpy bastard who is always unhappy in the middle of them electronic bits and bobs; thank you Chris for restoring my confidence in the ordinary; and yellow is the colour proper, well seen during the day, and at night and in misty/fogy conditions, too. Well done! And thanks! Best of health! Cheers!
"Every time the car reaches 8-9K, I can't believe they give it a warranty"! Best quote of 2022!
09' C4S 6MT with bits and bobs on it-155K DD and still runs like a raped up up a tree!
When Chris down shifts.. the sound of that amazing engine as he blips the throttle is pure orgasmic.. :D
Cheers, Sir Harris. Keep driving for us. You’ve kept me motivated all these years to go and enjoy these cars for what they are, not let them sit pretty.
Picked up my 991 Touring this weekend. Dealer asked if I would store the car over winter. No way, stick a set of winter tires on, in October, and use the car the entire year. He was a bit surprised!
Great stuff Chris. These cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed. Love your candid review of your own GT3. Happy new years all!
I wish those would come with the rear seats, for people with very young children like me. So I bought a Turbo and I am happy with it, but in the end the Touring would really be the ultimate 911
Brilliant watch, you can see his fondness for the marque and his T in particular, makes for great viewing to be honest….keep it up Sir 👏🏻
If people want expensive investments to not use buy art not cars leave them for people that well actually enjoy them
💯
if anyone questions why car people rave about Chris Harris, just show them the first 30 seconds of this video. The car control is just next level
10:04 is that Akrapovic exhaust cracked?
This is why Chris Harris is the best of the current crop of car show presenters. Loved this video.
Keep it! Drive it until you can’t and then give it to one of your kids or the dog (since it tries to drive it anyway) to carry on the legacy. I can’t tell you how much it would mean to be given a million mile 911 from my Dad to add another million 👍🏻
He's got a new one coming, this would end up rotting in the field beside his house.
He's so right. More subtle than the winged versions, with better street manners, similar performance, and a 6-speed to boot - it's the goldilocks of sports cars. This, and (if you live in the USA) a Ford Raptor, and you have everything an auto enthusiast could ask for.
I love that Chris' dog wants him to drift around aswell, turning the ESP off 😂
Ahh I’ve missed these videos Mr Harris, more of the same please. Just beautifully shot, beautifully simple videos with someone talking absolute sense about our passion
I just came back from a night drive to practice a bit of heel and toe-ing, I know it's a little different, but i'd really liked to have seen a camera on Chris's feet from 0:11-0:23 as he was doing the transitions/drifts
I'm trying to teach myself too. Very frustrating since it seems so easy for others....oh well, like many things, practice makes perfect
...In those arctic boots....amazing.
@@ThatRosco458 so i've been practicing a lot on my daily commute, discovered that my croccs work really well for heel and teo-ing lol
I agree. Anything from Chris. Happy new year.
Thank you Charris for showing the owners of the garage queens what they've been missing. Bravo!
Bravo.
A very nice way to bring in the New Year. thank you x
A great car owned and reviewed by a great journalist. The most powerful Porsche commercial I've ever seen.
11:52 Exactyl! The same thoughts entered my mind, when I was blasting a mates 991.2 GT3 in switzerland on the smooth roads out there. I thought "fuck am I in a cup car or something!?"......i miss that noise terribly. Especially combined with the gearbox noise (unless it was buggered...). I'd strongly suggest a GT3 is a car you keep.
Chris Harris is just living the petrol heads dream. Dream job, dream cars. Love the fact he uses them and enjoys them. Also drives them properly too. Think he’s very modest about his driving skills. Very down to earth guy. So glad he got the top gear job. We need a guy like him on mainstream TV, he’s a dying breed!
Great video, I’m lucky enough to have a 991.2 gt3 with pdk, pccb and love it, had it for three years and it’s a keeper. I changed the cup 2 for ps4s a while back great tyre. Interesting to see how you get on with the stiffer 992 as a daily
Yes ,Amazing cars and the tyre swap is the best thing you can do unless you track the car on a regular basis .
I had mine coming up to 4 years which is a record for me and I can’t see me selling this .
Porsche should be just giving Chris his new gt3 touring for free. He's one of the best car reviewers around, and absolutely gushes over these. It's priceless advertising, and he probably has single handedly sold many for Porsche over the years due to his genuine love affair with them.
Fantastic video Mr Harris.
How would you rate this compared to a Singer and to a Singer DLS? I refer to taking the money out of the equation, of course. Would any of those bring more joy to you (since hypercars do not) than this one? Thanks for the good reviews as well as entertainment that you always bring :)
I love that. Those that know….know. Those are the cars to aspire to. The 991 911 GT3 with Touring Pack is among my all time favourites. Chris Harris is just a man of the car people for the car people.
Great video and lovely car! Feels like an old-school CH on cars video - I miss these!
I am probably familiar with the good majority of popular car content creators - all genres - out there. This video is the absolute best. So genuine. Chris Harris is an incredible driver and entertainer. Through his special way, he makes all of this so approachable.
"That's interesting. We appear to be oversteering."
I love this guy.
@thethresh +1. "That's interesting. We appear to be oversteering" .. (As both Chris and dog face each other bewildered). .. Too Funny.
Chris the consistent excellence of your journalism is deserving of an MBE! I have learned so much from you over the last 20+ years. Here's to many more. Thank you!
But tbf he has, along with the other two clowns ruined TG...
@@nicholasmassey3046 so it wasn't Jeremy punching someone and getting fired that ruined it? No couldn't be
Chris you're the best! Cheers
Just sold my 992 Turbo S because I want something more engaging and this is the car I´m looking for now!!!
Very interested; Why not keep driving this one and not get the new one? You’ve say you want this one to keep driving and there’s no other car you’d rather be in, so staying with the banana seems the right thing to do.
I wonder how the steering rack compares in the 992. 991 is good for EPS but still far from great or matching the hydraulic systems
Mr Harris. I understand your point of view. I could never afford a gt3 nor a touring. But buying a 996 carrera c2 n experiencing its natural analog input got me hooked to this amazing machine. What a rush. Its man an machine. No other feeling can compare. Thank you sir you are an inspiration for younger gens. Your experience n wisdom will see u Through.
Are you sure that your dog’s not been chewing your knob Chris?
Absolute joy watching reviews like this, a great car driven like it should be!
Keep it please. I want to see someone carrying on using it as intended and, dare I say, I don't think the 992 Touringwill be as good an all round package as the 991.
Thank you Mr. Harris for your wonderful review of the best car in the world. There is no one else who can tell the story like you…..
Brilliant car. This might be controversial, but the wheels don’t suit it 🤔
It's OK to be wrong
@@MrBrohoward71 Touring wheels should be silver and nothing else
@Jamie Harper2 it’s a road car mate, not that serious. And the standard wheels wouldn’t have been heavy to begin with
This kind of video is much better than the sreaming hasty loud not funny version of Top Gear. Slow motion drifts nice calm music and an honest opinion. This is what I and maby some others want to see, the real Chirs Harris ...
Keep it Harris. Beat it. Thrash it. Put huge miles on its odometer for years!. See how long it will survive…then repair and continue.
Chris doing a phenomenal job explaining why this is the first car I probably will keep for good. There’s something so special about the Touring. In the year I have had mine, I have put substantially more miles on it than my daily, and I don’t think that’s bound to change. Truly special!
Why this reminds me of your old green 911! Your growth and progression over a decade and a bit has been great to see.
I've just bought a 991.1 GT3 based on Chris' videos. I love it, more than any other car I've owned, I just wish I'd bought one years ago - they are simply special.
It a awesome sports care, that's been used and loved and memories made in. Car's like these become friends and part of the family. Its so good to see one that's been used ....
I have a 911, and no its not a GT3 but i feel equally as in love with my one. Its in the DNA. I get so much enjoyment out of watching someone who clearly knows what he is on about, rave about a car from probably one of the best stables ever. Great video Chris.
Chris Harris review game is as strong as ever. Watching this was lovely, a reminder of old times watching/reading Chris at Drive and Jalopnik
I could listen to Master Harris all day long… wise, funny and so matter of fact about amazing cars!!!
Mr Harris. Loving your honest down to earth review. Your car, or should I say your passion piece is wonderful to behold.
I love the purity in your relationships with cars, and they are relationships, I am sure you will keep it and smile every time you catch a glimpse of it ... its a special thing to find a car that fully meets your needs 👍😀🙏😎
Bravo Chris..I feel the same about my 2014 991.1 GT3. The more I drive it the more I want to drive it. One Sunday morning I stopped in at the neighborhood Starbucks and, was planning to go back home. Ended up driving 500 miles roundtrip to see an old high school friend. With 40K the odometer and running strong, the 991.1 GT3 is good. If you can find one buy it. I haven't had any problems out of the 3.8 liter and it is a hell of an engine.
wow his car could last the warranty period amazing... dude my neighbor died and his Toyota that has been a daily driver and serviced at the supermarket for over 30 years is still alive.
