  • 2019 Porsche 911 (991) GT3 Drive and Review. How lucky are we. Mark first competed in GT3s twenty years ago, but now a chance to really work over this fabulous GT car on the road. 500 horsepower and 9000 rpm. Truly a car that is equally at home on track or on the road. Enjoy the review as Mark and Stu take it for a pretty decent blast.

      @@chubz01 no issues. It’s 2+ years old, just w 2800 miles. I’ve put on 1300 more in the past couple months. Plugs need to be changed by mileage or time, so I did that and much easier than on a previous 996 turbo. Only had for 6 months myself, but can handle anything thrown at it. Cheers

    Great video - your enthusiasm for Porsche GT3 really comes across - and with extensive track experience too. The GT3 is a great driver’s car, but how is it to live with on a daily basis? For me, I need back seats and sadly the only option then is the GT3 Touring - which are much harder to find and more expensive. I have a 991.2 C4S pdk (turbo/ecu/exhaust tuned to about 560hp). Is it really worth another £80-100k to trade up? I would love to, but I am not sure I could justify it to myself. Manual is great too, but the pdk can’t be beaten if you just want to have a relaxing drive after a hard work day. Have you driven the 991.2 GTS?

      Hi Gavin,
      Even the GT3 Touring won't suit you, as it doesn't have back seats either. No roll cage, just a nicely carpeted not very useful space behind those hard shell front seats. I suspect the C4S is the right car. Sounds like you already made the right choice.

    I hate to be an audio nitpicker again, but did you have two different audio files there from separate cameras? There’s an echo/out of phase sound at times, for example in the first section with you two talking in the car...

      Yes there are actually 4 mics, mixed later. The 2 lapel mics recording as L and R into one recorder, and the two GoPros recording independently. I guess it's work in progress. I am trying to find the best way to mix them to get the right balance of ambient and voice. The GT3 was actually quite drony when we're at cruising revs, and I'm struggling to find a way to make the voices clearer. Synching them is also quite tricky. Sorry it's annoying. I'll keep working for a better solution. Actually, better quality Lavalier's would be a start. Thank again for your input.

    Another terrific video. I couldnt quite hear whether you'd go with PDK or Manual for everyday driving, not talking about on a track. Great car, but wouldnt you rather a earlier gen? 997 GT3?!! These cars have to be pushed beyond 6000 revs, and to be honest you cant do that on public roads!

      Mark's suggestion was that, if you don't intend to go for the best track lap times, and you enjoy the whole clutch pedal purity thing, then by all means go for the six speed manual. The manual gearbox is great, and you have the option of auto-blip if you want to (in some driver modes). It won't be as fast through the gears, but does anybody care? And (arguably) manuals will probably have better resale in the long term.

      And yes, would love to review a 996 or 997 GT3. Pretty rare and nobody has offered one yet.

      Thank you for the prompt response. Put myself on the Porsche waiting list for a GT3 when they first came out. Never heard anything more from them! As you might remember I have been driving Porsches for 40 yrs. Currently a modified 996TechArt turbo, which ticks most of my boxes. With 560 BHP, perhaps more and 600 lb ft of torque, its a lot of fun. Maybe a GT3 as a daily driver is just too harsh? Keep making these great videos. Thank you from the UK!

    A lot of 991 Pcars have cylinder deactivation. Not the GT3, no?

    • @inCARnationAustralia
      @inCARnationAustralia  3 роки тому

      I don't know, but I thought cylinder deactivation was only introduced with the 992, and the upcoming 718. I don't believe the 991.2 GT3 we drove had that feature, but I really don't know.

    Sadly auto box is for wizzers
    I do not like the trend where you know longer drive the car, you just put your foot down
    Probably better to pan out and go EV

    • @inCARnationAustralia

      Well good news. They reintroduced the good old-fashioned clutch pedal and 6-speed manual in the 991.2 just for traditionalists like your good self, Zardos. Not sure what a wizzer is, but after that PDK, you can count me in. (And by the way, I own 4 cars, all with manual gearboxes)
