From a positive perspective this shows how some of these upgrades can really improve your flight experience. Get that extra legroom window seat near the front plane with priority boarding and your experience is completely different.
I flew Mumbai -IST yesterday - full packed , no vacant seat Very efficient crew For those commenting - there are adequate lavatories , did not notice any long queue ( I was in row 56) Fairly decent seat pitch , decent food Had to carry own blanket , no IFE It is very good VFM , at least 25% cheaper than nearest option when I booked. When I flew inbound IST - BOM couple of weeks ago , it was less only one third full so got extra bonus of lying down across 3 seats On a lighter note , I reached airport at 330 am (good 3.5 hrs before departure) and found hardly 10 pax queuing up 11:24 ahead of me at checkin which made me excited for another 3 seat nap - however the charming lady at checkin told me it is a full flight and most checked in by then ! One thing I didnot like at all was the gate staff picking and choosing first time or young travellers forcing them to part with carryon suitcases to keep in them in luggage hold , did not dare with foreigners or people with confident body language
Thanks for your comprehensive review. Glad to see that the flights run at full capacity. Makes me hopeful that IndiGo considers this a success and will order their own wide body planes!
@@JoshCahill Wow Josh , you made my day responding to my note , thanks I flew onward in Turkish to an European city ( on again a lighter note - Indigo’s Aloo Paratha meal was any day more enjoyable than Turkish more elaborate economy lunch of Pasta 😁) - and yes IST at midday was fully packed , not a place to seat at food court , duty free area (and it was a normal Friday ) - testimony to recovery of global travel and IST’s growth In 2016 we travelled Del-Zurich via old IST with exactly 1 hour layover and just about made it, inspite of inbound 777 parked at remote bay and non-EU security check - this is impossible in new IST As for Indigo’s wide body, media reports say they are pretty close to ordering 25 of them and Boeing front runner as of now PS : one more observation. Indigo is absolutely excellent in prepping the plane and making sure it leaves on time every time, even with the shortest of turnaround times. U see usually at least 20 ground staff working on 1 plane, and it just shows how efficiently the airline is able to operate, in comparison to flights here in the UK for example (understaffed, long turnarounds and almost always delays). Other airlines and countries could certainly learn a lot from IndiGo
09:28 - Fast Forward service has baggage delivery priority as well - If a single non-priority bag comes before yours, take a video and document with the airport staff and they will refund the FF cost to you. The up-side of paying for something on an LCC!
Josh, I flew this during my summer vacation the plane was fully packed with only 1 empty seat. The food was pretty bad but the crew and everything else was ok. Do u need an IFE yes but you get what you pay for. Most of the people flying were connecting passengers. The IFE did show a camera mounted on the house of the aircraft on the return leg. Love your videos Josh!❤
Yeah but now it seems to have improved. And Also during my flight a major of the Cabin Crew were of turkish airline and they treated the indigo passengers as kind of 2nd class passengers. But in return flight it was mojority indigo crew and i had good experience
I live in the US, and we have been suffering from delays, cancellations and bad customer service for years. Indigo in India is showing how to operate on time on regular basis.
idk the price you can check their website, but its relatively cheaper than other airlines, but as always you arent free from delays so be prepared for that@@SuperReHaN16
Eh, that's more of an airline-specific issue. United and Delta take consistently great care of their customers, outside of isolated (though well-publicized) incidents. India also has significantly less air traffic per flight hour than the United States, although that number is growing exponentially, so expect a similar problem to become more prevalent there.
Me too live in USA . Two times I traveled in Indigo Airline Thiruvananthapuram - Pune and Koch - Pune . I experienced cancellations and delays in both of my journeys ....😊😊
Southwind also operates a 777-300 with 550 seats and a 777-300ER with 531 seats between Antalya and Düsseldorf, flew this one a couple days ago because of the rare 777-300. Definitely worth a try!
Flew a couple of weeks ago with indigo from bengaluru to colombo. Not a bad flight but hard to assess as flight only 1hr 10 mins. The plane seemed brand new. Would use them again for short flights.
In its early years of operations Indigo tagline was "On-time is a wonderful thing", they ran a TVC around it and the Captains used to mention it during the landing announcement. Not sure why they got rid of the tagline, but good that they have kept the purpose intact. Huge achievement to do that consistently in some of the busiest airports they operate in. I remember once Air India captain had joked that "On time is wonderful, before time is even better" :D, when our flight landed before the scheduled arrival. He said that on a lighter note of course, but it indicates that IndiGo had created impact already in its early days.
Josh, if their ticket price is the lowest, I will take the flight ✈️. I have been flying indigo within India with great satisfaction. When due to the heavy fog in Delhi all planes were delayed, it was only indigo that gave water and free meals to their customers! And nice large meals!!! We also got continuous updates where our plane was and the expected time we would depart. Passengers from all other airlines were left in the dark without food or water.
Indigo have devised some innovative means to 'empty' their planes which I have not seen anywhere in the world. For example, they use ladders both in the front as well as at the back for the passengers to deplane. This improves their turn around time.
Thanks for the video, Josh. I wouldn't fly with 530 other passengers, and neither would I transit through an airport where I need to walk for 45 minutes to get to the gate. I don't have a problem watching this on UA-cam though. I believe the experiment will work on high-density routes. The B777 is Turkish registered so it must be operated by Turkish licensed flight and cabin crews. It must also be maintained in a Turkish, or Turkish CAA approved MRO organization. It is probably on Indigo's AOC as a wet-leased aircraft. I look forward to seeing Indigo operate into Entebbe International Airport with one of the A321 aircraft.
Hi Josh. Thanks for bringing this unique air adventure. But, WOW!!!! 500+ economy seats on a 777. That's outrageous. I must say you are courageous. There's no way I would have done a long haul flight that too in economy.
Whether I'd do it is a hard question to answer, because we both fly for different reasons. For me, I don't fly often, and when I do it's transatlantic, so I'd take a little more expense to get a more comfortable and spacious ride. It was certainly fascinating to watch this, though!!
CONGRATULATIONS INDIA with Chandrayaan-3 successfully touching down on the lunar south pole. I watched the landing and became quite emotional despite not being Indian myself. I'd love to see an Indian carrier, like IndiGo Airlines fly direct to some of Australia's cities, particularly Cairns in Far North Queensland. Hi Jason I don't know about IndiGo, they need widebodies or the A321XLR to fly to Cairns or Perth. 531 Seats?? On a 777?? I didn't think a 777 could accommodate that many! I kind of wonder what it must have been like with the overhead bins for luggage. Those also probably had their work cut out for them as well! Would I ever check out such a busy flight, I'm a bit undecided, as much as I would want to check out a flight in a Boeing 777 as I have yet to check out a 777, it's safe to say I'm reluctant, heh. Emirates has close to 440 seater on B-777 with business class on it and operates to most indian cities. The disadvantage would be the range. With more payload your range would significantly drop as you cannot uplift more fuel.
Let’s give a minute of silence for the 10 people that died in Malaysia from the horrible plane crash! Everydy that doest it respond giving a heart to the families ❤
Just took two Indigo flights. Superb crew, both ground and cabin. I booked the food and seat option and the value is great. Would absolutely fly them again.
I'd fly it on a 2 hour flight between BOM and DEL, but not on anything longer than that. 540 passengers in one aircraft means long lines for the toilet, long waits to deplane, a very high noise level and a sense of feeling crammed into a tight space.
Josh, I fly 6E11 and 6E12 at-least a dozen times, my family also onboard it couple of times. As a person whose hometown is Delhi and lives in Istanbul I prefer it because it is direct flight, cheaper and more comfortable for me compared to smaller planes as i am 190 cm. Thanks for making a video on this. I appreciate your efforts.
I've never heard of this airline. Interesting to learn about other airlines from your channel! Thanks for sharing the world of aviation to all of us! 😎
Hey Josh! Found your channel a few months ago and since then it's become part of the main collection of content I watch these days. As someone that LOVES traveling but hasn't been able to for a while, it's been wonderful watching your videos. Take care and keep on that grind my friend! :D
I was really excited the first time I flew the Singapore Airlines A380 but soon realised the pitfalls - the line for immigration once you land is huge and Indian airports cannot handle so much luggage from one plane. Since then I have tried as far as possible to stay away from these jumbo planes especially when flying coach.
That doesn't really help much unfortuantely, since most international flights land in the middle of the night. If you land on an Indigo A320 just after an Emirates A380 and Qatar Airways 777, you wished you were on the A380 that reached first..
DO they provide complimentary meals in the plane or do i need to prepay for the food so i can plan accordingly? Would like to know since this is my first time flying on a low cost airline from Mumbai to Istanbul.
There is no such thing. India has hundreds of accents. They vary within region, subregion, class, economic status and by level of education. Look up Shashi Tharoor or Vir Sanghvi or Aatish Tasseer for examples of how much it varies.
I feel Indigo is the best airline in India. Far better than any of its competitors. I haven't been on Vistara, but I don't feel they can provide anything extra as to what Indigo already provides. Can't wait to get on a wide-body airplane from them haha
When he said the seating capacity I expected the worse. But it appeared like a well organized pleasant flight. I wouldn’t want to wait an hour for my bag at the carousel. I would try to just use a carryon lol.
Well it's dominating statement... Fly once with any indian arline we Indians are best in hospitality... I flew through them in domestic with Airbus A320 Neo and A321 Neo , I got same experience in all 4 flights in my 4 days journey... No more delay neat and clean service Who will give you flight experience in fair of train AC 3 tear price ...😅
Josh, You should fly in Uzbekistan Airways dreamliner business class. PS "UK78703 or UK78706" have better config and design than the other ones Love your videos ❤
The partnership/codeshare of Indigo with Turkish is not only Indigo testing the widebody scenario but also Turkish expanding their flights to India, which TK have been looking for a long time. If Indigo really wants to keep up with their LCC model, they should order the A330neo or A350 to reduce the training costs of the pilots.
for that, they seriously need to start considering providing proper meal on board like vistara and air india ,not the small sandwiches worth 300 ruppees.
I thought the business class seats were only for the Turkish airline passengers.. It is not for the indigo airline passengers and also the business class seats were serve separately by Turkish airlines crew.. I dunno how true it is.. But it makes sense
ANA packs 514 seats in their domestic 777-300 with a 21+493 configuration, so it's not that far from Indigo's. That said, ANA's 773 is only deployed in domestic flights so you would never fly more than 2 hours in it. I have been onto that plane once on HND-CTS. It was a Saturday morning flight at 7am, and the flight was virtually empty. There was only about 50 passengers. In the 10-seat row I was in, I was the only passenger sitting in that row. So it's amazing in another sense, to be in one of the most densely configured aircraft but only with a load of a regional jet.
Would I be willing to get on a single-deck plane with 500+ other passengers? If the ticket was really cheap, perhaps I would. But I’d definitely get a window seat with maximum leg room, like what you did here. But even then, this flight would still feel like an eternity for me 😂
"Indian passengers aren't really known for being very gentle with the lavatories", says Josh Cahill. What worries me is not the comment but how he knows this! LOL!
Josh 7:22 Indians aren’t known to be gentle with there lavatories ??? Such racial generalisation on washroom usage comments u should restrict making with your few experiences and calling out the whole country on the same
@@JoshCahill which u think is factual information about washroom habits is a generalisation when it comes to India as as a whole ;hopefully a mature person like u , never thought u will base and now defend thru your comment this analogy !
If you really wanted the full experience you shouldn't have booked an extra legroom seat, thats cheating in my book. Noel Philips had a similar flight a while ago but had a normal seat so came out a broken man.
I loved Vistara but Indigo is a near second.. dozens of flights but never faced any substantial delay.. no frills cheaper tickets ..Ryanair ,Jetblue may learn a things or two
A fantastic video from a fantastic channel! I will not fly in a 531-seater 777 at all. I can pay extra to fly with Turkish or maybe book a connecting flight with Emirates. IndiGo is wet-leasing these planes from Turkish Airlines to see whether it works for them. However, since we can see that IndiGo is getting good loads, i think they will likely order widebodies soon. Some reports say that IndiGo is deciding between the A330neo and 787 for the order. However, Boeing seems to offer a better deal and IndiGo may order 25 787s. I have flown with IndiGo more than 50 times and have consistently found unprofessional but mostly friendly crew. Their service is extremely slow likely due to the bad quality of cabin crew training. What will we get on the next video?
The 'new' IST airport is already becoming unmanageable for many connecting flights (TK seem to have configured many of their departures to leave minimal transfer time - it's almost as if it's set up to fail
in which world did you hear that an Indian passenger checks in 10 items? A family of 3 or 4 might do that. And even if they do how come 500 passengers make 15000 bags? RIP Mathematics!
Really impressed that an airline reviewing UA-camr was travelling where the rest of us do and then completely invalidates the whole experiment by booking a front row XL seat and kind of glossed over that until the end. That is not a valid review of the real experience. Also the price is pointless without a comparison of what a full fare would be. Unusually disappointed with this content.
Agree 💯 %. You take the most comfortable seat and then declare it a good journey. I consider your evaluation as scripted and biased. How many free ticket vouchers did you get from Indigo?
You are a brave man indeed. There is absolutely NO WAY I would EVER take such a flight. Being an old fart has its limitations and preferences. 😅. Fly safe young friend. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤
You are definitely brave to try that experience out. I'm happy to be watching from the comfort of my bedroom :) Love your videos, keep up the great quality of work.
hey Josh, wonderful video as always, keep up the good work! it really has nothing to do with this video, but if you're ever interested in traveling to South America again, try out Azul airlines! we brazilians are really proud of it and i had wonderful flights with them 😄
I flew abord this from Mumbai to Istanbul and back on my trip to the US. The first journey was absolutely packed. Everyone was packed like sardines. On my return journey luckily the flight was empty, I'd say maybe 50 pax Max.
Indigo understands its customer base. Cost concisous customers who are willing up take a flight at 3AM to save a few bucks, and don't mind getting crammed in with 500 people so long as its cheap. Couple that clean , pleasant crew and efficient flight boarding & de-boarding, its a 5-star service for the money. on the economics of it all, I think having a fairly standardized fleet that can be easily serviced makes it more economical. Past airlines like Jet Airways got sunk by their hubris and inefficiency. You have a juggle many balls to survive in Indian aviation and Indigo seems to excel in it. More power to them!
Rumor has it that Indigo is going to order 25 787 Dreamliners from Boeing. It would be interesting to see if Indigo will have inflight entertainment on their new widebody aircraft, but time will tell. Personally, I'd pay an extra $100-$200 to be more comfortable on a legacy carrier flight.
Would you fly this 531 Economy Seater Boeing 777? Let me know in the comments!

You’ve got to love the Indian accent 👍
Really interesting video. I’ve flown Indigo within India, many times, and always enjoyed the experience.
I'm surprised they aren't strapping people to the wings for a few extra bucks
give it time!
Well it's dominating statement...
Fly once with any indian arline we Indians are best in hospitality...
I flew through them in domestic with Airbus A320 Neo and A321 Neo ,
I got same experience in all 4 flights in my 4 days journey...
No more delay neat and clean service
Who will give you flight experience in fair of train AC 3 tear price ...😅
Could you show more of the interior? Didn’t get to see much of the 531 seats and how packed it was!
Josh, You should fly in Uzbekistan Airways dreamliner business class. PS "UK78703 or UK78706" have better config and design than the other ones
Love your videos ❤
The partnership/codeshare of Indigo with Turkish is not only Indigo testing the widebody scenario but also Turkish expanding their flights to India, which TK have been looking for a long time. If Indigo really wants to keep up with their LCC model, they should order the A330neo or A350 to reduce the training costs of the pilots.
for that, they seriously need to start considering providing proper meal on board like vistara and air india ,not the small sandwiches worth 300 ruppees.
Imagine booking a Turkish and travelling via Indigo.
I’ll rather book SIA and fly via Vistara
I thought the business class seats were only for the Turkish airline passengers.. It is not for the indigo airline passengers and also the business class seats were serve separately by Turkish airlines crew.. I dunno how true it is.. But it makes sense
It is in wet lease and hence operated by Turkish airlines including crews and staffs.
The crew service of Indigo is unparalleled ❤
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY COVERING THIS TOPIC LOL!! been waiting for this vid since the start of this route!
The Belgians invented French fries.
But even then, this flight would still feel like an eternity for me 😂
Liebe deine vlogs Josh ! Grusse aus die Niederlande .
You liked it cause it was an XL seat 💺 what if you were cramped in normal seat?
I would NEVER fly on a plane so full of people. Nice job as always
There are not enough lavatories in the world that could make me travel on a 6 hour flight with 530 people. Josh, you are made of sterner stuff! 👏😀
Especially when most of them are Indians 😄 . But I guess it's survivable for a few hours.
But you’d travel on a 380 though?
@@francismcdonnell753 That I would do any day! 😀

"Indian passengers aren't really known for being very gentle with the lavatories", says Josh Cahill.
What worries me is not the comment but how he knows this! LOL!
If you have watched all his videos you should know the answer for this.
He has done many loo reviews…he knows !
Josh 7:22 Indians aren’t known to be gentle with there lavatories ??? Such racial generalisation on washroom usage comments u should restrict making with your few experiences and calling out the whole country on the same
Facts unfortunately don’t matter about our feelings.
@@JoshCahill which u think is factual information about washroom habits is a generalisation when it comes to India as as a whole ;hopefully a mature person like u , never thought u will base and now defend thru your comment this analogy !
Please post your facts below 👇🏻
@@JoshCahill I somehow feel u haven’t understood what I am trying to say and what u have said , but is quite discriminating !!! I will leave at that !
Facts don't care about your feelings.
This is a game changer in Indian domestic routes since tickets can be cheaper and Flight duration is usually one or two hours.
If you really wanted the full experience you shouldn't have booked an extra legroom seat, thats cheating in my book. Noel Philips had a similar flight a while ago but had a normal seat so came out a broken man.
Good old Noel!
He flew Cebu. Sat at the window. But Noel is also a tall guy I think. He was really folded up 😅
I loved Vistara but Indigo is a near second.. dozens of flights but never faced any substantial delay.. no frills cheaper tickets ..Ryanair ,Jetblue may learn a things or two
A fantastic video from a fantastic channel!
Definitely I would only want to see it on utube. Thanks for taking the hit for the viewers.
The 'new' IST airport is already becoming unmanageable for many connecting flights (TK seem to have configured many of their departures to leave minimal transfer time - it's almost as if it's set up to fail
You are right-it is such a long walk between gates that you need several hours to transit properly. CDG in Paris is even worse.
Great video and what a fun interview! Thanks again for your work Josh!
It doesn't sound much different than domestic flying here in the U.S.
Wherever you go in India its super crazy. I would keep away.
Hi Josh. Here in the Philippines, we have an Airbus A330NEO used by Cebu Pacific which has 460 seats. Maybe you would like to try it out
Since Noel flew this airplane, we do all know about it. 😅
@@woutergijs5246 Yeah I know 😅 Idk maybe Josh would like to experience it
I Will Not Fly On The Airr Craft,But Love To See You Do It.Great Work
in which world did you hear that an Indian passenger checks in 10 items? A family of 3 or 4 might do that. And even if they do how come 500 passengers make 15000 bags? RIP Mathematics!
hahaha I always sucked at Math hence I became a UA-camr 😂
Great review again, Josh. Can we have your tips for a good sleep in an economy seat? Cheers!
You cheated - should have sat in economy in the middle seats.................Now THAT would be a report! ( if you survived. lol ).
Good analysis haha wouldn’t have been able to tell the story!
I bet it's horrific if that's where you get put..............imagine it. @@JoshCahill
Indigo and the new Air India are making things look promising for Indian aviation.
I wish you got a standard seat, so we can see just how un/comfortable this aircraft is.
Is this denser on a per square foot basis than the Cebu Pacific A330 with 9 across and no "business" in front?
Really impressed that an airline reviewing UA-camr was travelling where the rest of us do and then completely invalidates the whole experiment by booking a front row XL seat and kind of glossed over that until the end. That is not a valid review of the real experience. Also the price is pointless without a comparison of what a full fare would be. Unusually disappointed with this content.
Agree 💯 %. You take the most comfortable seat and then declare it a good journey.
I consider your evaluation as scripted and biased.
How many free ticket vouchers did you get from Indigo?
I mean it makes sense for short to mid haul range like this, whats the flight time? about 5 hours? its probably a really cheap ticket as well.
An Indian airline? I would never consider... But with Josh's seal of approval? I wouldn't mind
Not sure where are you from but these are efficient and profit making airlines flying millions without wasting money from “broke” government exchequer
I met Josh several times ❤ he is wonderful ❤ from Kerala 👍❤
You are a brave man indeed. There is absolutely NO WAY I would EVER take such a flight. Being an old fart has its limitations and preferences. 😅. Fly safe young friend. Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤
You are definitely brave to try that experience out. I'm happy to be watching from the comfort of my bedroom :) Love your videos, keep up the great quality of work.
So proud of the Dutch ex KLM CEO Elbers doing such an amazing job at Indigo, from one blue airline 💙 to another 🩵
Not Josh saying low key racist comments
Where do you find anything racist?
Exactly Indians find everything racist, when they themselves are utterly racist 🤷♂️
thanks for this review. But what I loved most was the footage of Istanbul airport and all the exotic airlines I have never seen before. Thank you!!
Hey Josh, I will be taking the Mumbai - Istanbul tomorrow. I had seen this earlier came back to check on tips for seats 😊
hey Josh, wonderful video as always, keep up the good work! it really has nothing to do with this video, but if you're ever interested in traveling to South America again, try out Azul airlines! we brazilians are really proud of it and i had wonderful flights with them 😄
I flew abord this from Mumbai to Istanbul and back on my trip to the US. The first journey was absolutely packed. Everyone was packed like sardines. On my return journey luckily the flight was empty, I'd say maybe 50 pax Max.
The inaugural flight to Africa was in early August. Indigo has a daily flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
Thanks for this review Josh. Really enjoyed it 🎉
Great video Josh! Top stuff..
I flight with Indigo airways more than 20 domestic trips, it's one of the best airlines in India .
Hey Josh, how did you book the extra legroom seat. I am taking the same flight soon and wanted to book the same.
Excellent video and content. Good editing and commentary.
And I thought that 468 seats on Air France's 773 was dense. By the way, did you check the legroom on a non-XL economy seat?
Nice video, thanks for your efforts in making it and sharing it with us Josh bhai 👍
Great video Josh!!!! 2 thumbs up my friend!!!!
Wow! Thanks a lot for this lovely review, massive,I might try it for adventure but not for regular flights, I give kudos to the cabin crew.
I hope you review a Cebu Pacific flight with their A300-900 packed with 459 seats. The almost nine hour Manila - Dubai v.v. would be interesting.
We have seen this from Noel. It was not nice…
