The Quo were the greatest boogie band but this track shows they could pretty much play any style with flair. This one has such a funky groove in addition to the boogie attack and slow blues fade. "Looking a great deal better than we'll ever feel again" 😊 We miss you, Rick! As you say, Mr Rock'n' Roll, genius!
I love this song, in fact I love the whole Whatever You Want album. I got this for Christmas in 1979. I was 11 and y parents were breaking up at the time. For Christmas I remembered sitting, looking out of the window at 2ft of snow outside in a farmhouse in the UK Peak District, crying because my face was sore where my father had hit me. Quo got me through that day, I doubt anything else would have. ❤❤
This ones a bit of a surprise, but a welcome one at that. The last track from the 1979, 'Whatever You Want', album. The lyrics of which are kind of semi-autobiographical in that, by this time, they'd been touring relentlessly for well over 10 years and felt the need for a break. Which is what they did the following year. Yep, they didn't tour in 1980, (partially due to personal reasons with one member), but it meant they could focus on producing work in the studio. The result being 2 albums spread over the next couple of years. Namely, 'Just Supposin', and, 'Never Too Late.' The harmonica player toward the end of this track is none other than Bob Young, who co-wrote a number of Quo's singles and collaborations with Francis Rossi. He was the unseen 5th member of the band for a number of years. How about doing some early Quo? 'Spinning Wheel Blues' 'Junior's Wailing' 'In My Chair' 'Shy Fly' 'Railroad.' 'Someone's Learning' 'Something's Going On In My Head' As a few examples.
Luckily I saw them in Sydney, 1978 when they were STATUS QUO, THE FRANTIC FOUR. The next time I saw a Band called STATUS QUO was in 1997 when they were no longer STATUS QUO. Without Coghlan and Lancaster there is no QUO, just a diluted imitation.
Parfitt starts to sing, "Four rockers rollin', with a poet in the wings" is about them and Bob Young (on harmonica) who wrote a lot of songs togheter with Rossi..
Having only truly got into Quo from 1986 i just like you discovered a huge back catalogue of albums and used to buy 1 every weekend off a guy in my local market,in Worksop, England. Drove my mum and dad mad blasting out Quo on my stereo. All on vinyl. I used to compile my weekly top 20 favourite tracks from my collection that I built up. ( sad i know) but Breaking away was never out that top 10. My all time no 1 was Mystery Song. So what you are doing on here i can really relate too personally.. As a true Quo fan some always ridicule the band, 3 chord wonders etc.... but for me they are truly the best boogie, feel good band ever.... and totally underrated by most. As you are dicovering my friend Quo can truely ROCK. Ive seen them all from Acdc to Zz top but Quo. Will aways be my no 1. Love what you do. Rockers Rollin/Come Rock with me next please. 😂
Great review as always. Check out Who asked you from this album, pure Quo 👍. Saw Quo last night in Halifax Piece Hall, outdoor gig & packed out with 6500. Brilliant show & Rossi was on top form, great sound & awesome guitar playing. Seems Mr Rock n Roll is causing a stir amongst the fans, they love him & his reviews 👍. The man who’s gonna break Quo in North America 🎸…SQ 24 🇬🇧
Another Crackin Gem..Brilliant Lyrics, Love it..You have to check out "Backwater / Just take me," from the Album Quo, and "Don't waste my time" from Piledriver..The beauty with this track is, if you leave it on, you get the sublime "Oh Baby" into the bargain !
I'd completely forgotten this track. My youngest son now has all my old vinyl records. He probably doesn't know yet how lucky he is. He's still into Black Sabbath but he will grow out of that.
Bringing Quo to the USA, must listen to blue eyed lady. Such an amazing catalogue of great tracks. A very very underrated band but definitely not by us old school Quo fans. Thank you for your great enthusiasm for Quo.
My kid wanted to watch my phone ..i said wait this is live .. I clicked and was talking to mr rock n roll !! I told everyone my favorite band is the angels .. after status que emded insee yat.he did a angels cover ..how quincidental.. amazing 💯💯💯💚💚💚🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 awesome experience
Fantastic deep cut from a great album, pity they never played this live, epic Quo. Next Quo song I'd like to see you react to is the classic Don't Waste My Time, opening track of the Piledriver album.
Thank you - this is my all time favourite Quo track, so often overlooked. Its has everything - Parfitt's middle section is unbelievable, the lyrics go round in my heard every day.
There are so many Quo tracks that you would love. You got so close to doing 'Rain' from the same album as 'Mystery Song'. A real monster headbanger with a tight solo in the middle. A must play. When you go back to the 'Hello' album, don't miss 'Blue Eyed Lady' - another monster.
Excellent channel. I know you have done a reaction to 4500 times but you should do one of the big live versions, honestly it becomes a totally different song, I believe your freak will be greatly out
@mrrocknroll you have to do Little Lady/Most Of the Time!! Can't find the two together studio wise, so just use the On The Level full album links!! Live is good, but studio is another level!!
You know I really needed that, can't beat the Quo to lift your mood. Fantastic reaction as always dude, would love to see you dive into the 'Quo' album sime more, maybe starting with 'Drifting Away' or 'Don't think it Matters' 🤘🤘🤘
you have to check out earlier Quo , my friend your missing so much out- but then they have been going for sixty years man and boys, shame it's all coming to an end..Bob Young on the mouthie!
You MUST listen to "Don't Waste My Time" as it is an epic song whether you listen to it from Piledriver or live at ANY of their live shows! Breaking Away is an epic album track!
Saw Quo last night in Halifax (UK), first time I've seen them since Rick's passing. Absolutley awesome. Mr. Rock n Roll, do everything in your power to get to see this band live whilst you still can. Contact them directly, beg...
Quo is definitely not a one trick pony, unlike ACDC. Listen to Gerdundula, lonely man, unspoken words, A year or All the reasons. Great reaction mate keep it up.
Hi I keep saying this tracks good that tracks good, you've got the quo bug and it's great to see . 99% of quo songs are pure boogie, listen to a song called shady lady off the same album. Great reaction yet again to another great quo track, keep them coming bro great job. Quo forever❤❤
I started to sign up to patreon two weeks ago. Solely and specifically to send you a gift on my birthday. Is there a way to send you a one time contribution and a personal message? I so love your reactions my friend... As do my sons. We rock. 😊
This is the last track on the "Whatever You Want" album. When the song fades out I thought the Band were saying goodbye to all of us, this was the end of QUO. In my defence, I was smoking some very potent buds in the Summer of '79. On the subject of Production, why couldn't Pip Williams give the same Production sound to "RAOTWorld" album in 1977 as he gave to "Whatever You Want" in 1979??? "RAOTWorld" was a lame attempt to break the North American market. It failed. The conspiracy to keep QUO from being successful in North America was collaborated by Record Companies, Promoters and Radio Stations.

Don't Waste My Time live is a must
They toured with Aerosmith in 74 or 75 in the US They were thrown out because they were going down better to the crowd than Aerosmith
Dig out Railroad! In their very early days, but played live forever, as it was so good!!! And Blue Eyed Lady!!

Big guy quo bro... You've done it again. Even worse... It's my birthday and I get given this. Old quo man very happy. Thanks. Again. 🎉🙏💪🤠🧙💥
Love you and Status Quo!🙌
I'd completely forgotten this track. My youngest son now has all my old vinyl records. He probably doesn't know yet how lucky he is. He's still into Black Sabbath but he will grow out of that.
Thank you for reacting to this song, I've been asking for it for a long time. Thanks.
Bringing Quo to the USA, must listen to blue eyed lady. Such an amazing catalogue of great tracks. A very very underrated band but definitely not by us old school Quo fans. Thank you for your great enthusiasm for Quo.
I am a simple man I see Status Quo I click
Me too.
Just finished that cover too!! Thank you for watching my dude
The angels ripped Quo off, Quo did their Song 'Loney Night' a year before The angels did, 'am I ever gonna see your face again.'😂
@@leesloan8216 didn’t The Angels offer to pay royalties for that one? If anything I’d call it a heavy homage cause they were obviously fans of Quo
Fantastic deep cut from a great album, pity they never played this live, epic Quo. Next Quo song I'd like to see you react to is the classic Don't Waste My Time, opening track of the Piledriver album.
Yes! Don't Waste My Time is a classic!
Thank you - this is my all time favourite Quo track, so often overlooked. Its has everything - Parfitt's middle section is unbelievable, the lyrics go round in my heard every day.
Brilliant!!!!!,, I haven't heard this for ages
COOL!
Imagine this in the old fashion mix
There are so many Quo tracks that you would love. You got so close to doing 'Rain' from the same album as 'Mystery Song'. A real monster headbanger with a tight solo in the middle. A must play. When you go back to the 'Hello' album, don't miss 'Blue Eyed Lady' - another monster.
He's done Mystery Song you should check it out :)
I have. That's why I said it was from the same album as Mystery Song.
Excellent channel. I know you have done a reaction to 4500 times but you should do one of the big live versions, honestly it becomes a totally different song, I believe your freak will be greatly out
The great mr.Rock and Roll Quo station!!
Woooooo
Try “Don’t think it matters”, “Drifting away”, “Is there a better way”.
All great tracks.
@mrrocknroll you have to do Little Lady/Most Of the Time!! Can't find the two together studio wise, so just use the On The Level full album links!! Live is good, but studio is another level!!
👍👍Very cool. 🖖❤

you have to check out earlier Quo , my friend your missing so much out- but then they have been going for sixty years man and boys, shame it's all coming to an end..Bob Young on the mouthie!
Yes I agree, the old ones
With the older 70ths soundmixing it would even sounding better
You MUST listen to "Don't Waste My Time" as it is an epic song whether you listen to it from Piledriver or live at ANY of their live shows! Breaking Away is an epic album track!
Next song from the WYW album, simply gotta be Shady Lady! Up-tempo, guitar intro and solo off the charts and a fantastic melody!
See a different side of Quo and check out For You from the Rockin All Over The World album. Has a bit of an Eagles vibe going on.
Please react to their song "Rain" from the "Blue for You" album! It will blow your mind!
Saw Quo last night in Halifax (UK), first time I've seen them since Rick's passing. Absolutley awesome. Mr. Rock n Roll, do everything in your power to get to see this band live whilst you still can. Contact them directly, beg...

Late 70s-early 80s isn't Status Quo's high point in my opinion. But it's Status Quo so it's still great 😀
This is the last track on the "Whatever You Want" album.
When the song fades out I thought the Band were saying goodbye to all of us, this was the end of QUO.
In my defence, I was smoking some very potent buds in the Summer of '79.
