Please play some more Quo please Lee. You won’t regret it. Took my Dad to see them in ‘76. We sat in the front row of the balcony. The whole balcony went up and down all night… we loved it… 😎
The essential albums are Piledriver, Hello, Quo, On the Level, Blue for You and the double live album recorded at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976, simply called Quo Live 🤘
Form a F-shape bar chord, keep applying and taking off little finger, and write any number of catchy songs on that theme. It worked for them, guaranteed to fill a dance floor when one of their songs came on back in the day..............and there is even a particular set of simple dance moves to accompany the formula. Real legends in the UK.
Hi Lee! Thanks for the great reaction to Status Quo! My brother and I used to list to them in the early Seventies! Fantastic band! Please, please please do more Status Quo! LOVE THEM! Thanks for every thing you do for the channel! Peace and Blessings to you and yours from Australia!
Saw them in '74 on Toronto Island. Didn't know them, my family left England in '64, but 'Rockin' All Over the World' sounded instantly familiar and comfortable, like coming home. Look forward to hearing them again ever since. And again. And again. 😊🎶❤
Hallo, very good choice, great Band and also this album, glad I was on their concert in the mid 70s, RIff Raff Rock at its best 🎸🎸I knew you play it twice, so much fun😊
Try understanding the lyrics, if you can. Makes you wonder they were smoking at the time. Riding on a big white butterfly I turned my back away towards the sky I closed my eyes to look for something Saw myself as really nothing Then I realized my butterfly Wasn't really up there with me We all make mistakes, forgive me Would you like to ride my butterfly? Riding on a long blue paper plane Getting seasick, sorry once again Landing strip is getting nearer Hope the fog lifts, makes it clearer Then I realized my paper plane Wasn't really up there with me We all make mistakes, forgive me Would you like to ride my paper plane? Riding in a three grand Deutsche car A to B is often very far Home is near, but such a long way Legs and heads all feel the wrong way Then I realized my Deutsche car Is only there to get me somewhere Even so I really do care Would you like to ride my Deutsche car?
You always get good fun Rock and Roll from Status! There are plenty of great live stadium concerts to watch that are well worth watching, they were still rocking into the 2020's
I remember their hit "Pictures of Matchstick Men"- very interesting tune it was. I always really liked it. A perfect psychedelic rocker. You MUST listen to it Lee. This song was cool too. I've never heard it before, so thank you Lee. I too am a night owl Lee. I can relate. I get my best work done at night.
Thank you for doing Status Quo! Most likely the best rock band of all time! In my opinion at least. Boogie rock, blues rock, country rock, maybe hardrock but never metal. Almost every song of their makes me smile, get up and dance and swing my head to the music, singing along. I've been a fan since '84 when I was six years old. Life long love :)
Their period of 72-76 is full of great minimalistic bangers. Their sound kind of changed for the worst after that, but that classic era is so good. You can definitely hear the influence they had on punk with songs like this. 4/4, all downpicks with perfect overdrive.
Interesting. Criminal that a band of Quo’s stature not breaking N America. A real great live band & some brilliant albums over the years. Nice to see though over recent times there getting plenty of US UA-cam footage.
Thx god they recommend you early seventies stuff! they were amazing from '71 to '77, great till '85 and then ... not that much anymore (drummer and bassist left).
In the days of singles (45rpm)this was one of many hits. Amount of 45s sold in week to week gave bands chart number which was aired on bbc show called top of the pops. Very popular a must watch for 70s to late 90s. So most 45s under 3mins duration.
There is definitely a nod to them in Spinal Tap. My friends and I were very snotty about them , listening to our Yes albums, but it was Quo we rocked out to at the school disco.
Hi lee you have been introduced to "Quo." This is what they did - and di for decades - but did it terrifically well. I would suggest "Caroline" but others will have their favourites too.
"Heads down, no nonsense, mindless boogie," someone once said. Sometimes that's all you need. I don't think the studio version of Roadhouse Blues is anywhere near as good as the live version from End of the Road 1984, but others may think differently. There isn't really very much live footage of Quo at the height of their career which is a shame.
Nice reaction Lee .Quo are one of the best live bands you could find .If you want to dig into their Piledriver album you got to play “Big Fat Mama ,”Don’t waste my Time ,and “ Roadhouse blues ,all good rockers .cheers Mate
They started as a psychedelic pop band, but transformed to a hard rocking band with great melodies. Their early 70:s output is mandatory. They work are in the same vein as early AC/DC. Suggestions: "Slow Train" and "4500 times"
I've been through phases where I was a night owl, but for a while now because of my job and other things I, actually get up really early like 4:30 or 5:00 a.m. usually, and guess what? That feeling of being up when nobody else is and it's so quiet and calm outside is equally profound!
Another interesting fact is Lars Ulrich was introduced to RnR by the magnificent Status Quo. Listen to the introduction on there live Album Quo Live 1976. They were the best live band of that era!!
(In the style of Spinal Tap), they started out as a psychedelic band (listen to Pictures Of Matchstick Men) but once they had found their rock style they stuck to it, but did it with good humour - one of their albums was called "In Search Of The Fourth Chord"
More of a badger set than a rabbit hole! You can complain (and people will) that everything they do is pretty much the same OR you can celebrate the fact that everything they do is pretty much the same. For decades! I saw them at the Marquee (in London) in 1972 (I think), It's a pretty small club, really, and it was jam-packed and sweaty. Probably the best way to see them.
That Tele looks familiar! 😅 Saw them unknowing in '74 on Toronto Island, high on some nice acid, sparkly, splendid day ✨️, I left England at 7½, decided when I heard 'Rockin' All Over the World' I must've heard it somewhere, sounded so comfortably, adrenaline pumping familiar, felt like home, looked forward to hearing more ever since. Older, later videos on UA-cam, it's still Quo. ✌🏼😁🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
You'd like , Rain and In My Chair by them too ... Also Matchstick Men was their first single in the 60's and it's so Beatles and not what the band turned into in the 70's.
FOr a great intro to Status, try a live version of their "4500 Times" - 17 minutes. Rick is the rhythm guitarist, Rossi is the Lead guitar, Allan is the bassist, which leaves Coglhan on drums. Rick was known for being the fastest rhythm guitarist. So tight. But he could sing lead and wrote many of their catchy hooks.
Nice you discover them. Thanks from a fan since 1970. The best Boogie Hardrock band ever. And live they are the best. They have a load of albums. The 70ths is their best time and still existing, 60 years, still going. Probably the (whole) album Hello is one of their best.
Literally hundreds of absolute bangers to choose from but maybe start with Mystery Song and Rain. Both tracks from the 1976 Blue For You album and both promo videos widely available on UA-cam.
You should seek out the real live version of this from the Marquee Club. The footage of this is from the Marquee but it is the studio version being played over it.
They sold about 120 million records by now (still touring in 2024!) worldwide, probably 120 in the US, haha. Btw, Francis STLL uses the SAME green guitar. The exact same piece!. They were the first band having released albums with fresh materials in 6 (SIX) decades in a row reaching the charts. Lately Deep Purple beat them with 7 decades. You got a VERY deep rabbit hole ahead! Try the live version of "Caroline" from Montreux (I think it's 2009). This song is their opener. Or, for the one you would like to do next, try to find this version on UA-cam : Status Quo - Roadhouse Medley Full version - Live Alive Quo HD Enjoy :)
Their comeback hit in completely different style, having started on the 60's psychedelic wave with hit song "Matchstick Men". The lyrics probably are a sign from the previous era.
Interestingly enough, the video is a live performance, but they put the studio version over the top of it to make the, 'promotional film', version. The beauty of which is that the band are so tight with the way they play, you could easily mistake the sound being played as live, if you didn't know any better. The live version of this was taken from the Marquee along with, 'Don't Waste My Time.' Well worth a look/listen, if not a reaction. I think it's 30 odd studio albums to their name. Maybe 50+ if you include the live albums they've done. There's a whole lot of songs you could react to. The list is pretty endless considering how long they've been producing their music. Arguably, their best period was between '72 and '76, with many songs worthy of reacting to. Examples are:- Big Fat Mama Roadhouse Blues Don't Waste My Time Roll Over Lay Down Caroline Softer Ride Forty-Five Hundred Times Slow Train Break The Rules Backwater/Just Take Me Little Lady/Most Of The Time Down Down Bye Bye Johnny Rain Ring Of A Change Mystery Song You could always react to the live version of this song, (plus, 'Don't Waste My Time'), from the Marquee, here ua-cam.com/video/V9K6pfj8Iqo/v-deo.html
These guys opened Live Aid in 1985 with two great versions of Rockin' All Over The World (a John Fogerty cover) and Caroline, a banger very much in the mode of Paper Plane (and somewhat influenced by Led Zep's Rock & Roll) - both songs are on UA-cam. Also worth checking out is their unplugged version of Paper Plane from their Aquostic set in 2014, with acoustic guitars and an accordion turning it into a Cajun-style number.
Band pronounce their name as STAY tus Quo. They opened LIVE AID A staple song in their live set. The live track has a slightly different arrangement from the studio track which yes is what you are hearing here. Best albums were the 70S. All three do vocals on various songs PILEDRIVER ON THE LEVEL HELLO QUO BLUE FOR YOU. WHATEVER YOU WANT Recommended. Backwater/just Take me Breaking Away Over and Done Roll Over Lay Down Rain Slow Train. Could go on!!! Their is a live version of Roadhouse Blues on their LIVE album. Studio version on PILEDRIVER. Alan & Rick are sadly now longer with us.
Lee, welcome to the Quo rabbit hole. Please don't take this the wrong way but it's pronounced (Stay-Tus) the drummer is (John Cog- Lan), a British Band that started off recording psychedelic type music then changed to rock & denim. Roadhouse blues is a great track. You commented that it was a simple track, Quo were also known as the three chord band (not entirely true) but as they also embraced the title, they titled an album in They also opened the greatest gig so far Live Aid (1985). Keep the Mighty Quo coming Dude.
Consider this, Quo have just finished the 2024 European tour and all 32 venues were sold out, a band that started in the early '60s and has toured every year from the beginning, what other band could match that?
They toured europe and UK this year, could be their last year.Mega band in the UK since late 1960s.Rick parfitt and Alan Lancaster have both passed away.
Yes F4 me too. Seen all line ups in total 150 times. This year was 1st time without Rick. I wasn’t sure, still enjoyed it though, glad I made the effort. Love or loathe him, Rossi is still on fire 👍
Classic Quo. Paper plane from the album Piledriver. One of Britains biggest & best live bands. Massive across all Europe & Asia, selling well over 100m records & 35m gig tickets worldwide. Mainly ignored across North America due to poor representation & lack of radio play in their 70s/80s prime. Massive back catalogue & best checked out live! Milton Keynes bowl 1984) & Download (2014) are good examples. 🎸🇬🇧👍
Fantastic band - not a bad track from Ma Kelly’s Greasy Spoon through to Blue For You that’s a lot of albums. Faves include Big Fat Mama, Blue Eyed Lady, Fine Fine Fine, Railroad, Mean Girl, Tune to the Music, Lakky Lady and the medley Backwater/Just Take Me - hell there’s dozens more - at the bottom of the Quo wormhole is another wormhole.
You may call it simple but it wasn't You have to play at the maximum level of your capacity and extremely loud. And they were clever enough to give the audience exactly what they wanted. If you're at a Quo concert you know what's coming and it always does. They simply boogie your ass off. Always.
Rossi, Parfitt, Lancaster, Coghlan was the lineup I grew up with and will always, for me be THE Quo.
The Frantic Four! ❤️
Straightforward unpretentious rockers. Simple but always on the money.
Quo always put a huge smile on my face. Nothing fancy or mind bending, just straightforward, joyous rock'n'roll.
Head-down, no-nonsense, mindless rock n roll at it's very best.
Status Quo were the opening act at Live Aid.
I've seen Quo at least 20 times and Paper Plane always sounds awesome.
Love 1970's Quo, and even after their studio material deteriorated they remained a fantastic live band, who I've see 43 times since1981.
Please play some more Quo please Lee. You won’t regret it. Took my Dad to see them in ‘76. We sat in the front row of the balcony. The whole balcony went up and down all night… we loved it… 😎
I was at the Apollo Glasgow that year watching them and the balcony was scary to watch but that concert got me hooked ;)
It’s interesting. For years I only heard their name, but now I can see who they are. Thank you, Snoops and Lee.
These guys are new to me and I love love love this. Amazing.
❤how true, this screams the '70's! Banger🎉
My advise: listen first to their 70s albums!!! that's their golden period.

The essential albums are Piledriver, Hello, Quo, On the Level, Blue for You and the double live album recorded at the Glasgow Apollo in 1976, simply called Quo Live 🤘
Check out another banger, Deeper Down!
Yes, listen to Roadhouse Blues. A surprisingly great vocal performance by Alan Lancaster.
Form a F-shape bar chord, keep applying and taking off little finger, and write any number of catchy songs on that theme. It worked for them, guaranteed to fill a dance floor when one of their songs came on back in the day..............and there is even a particular set of simple dance moves to accompany the formula. Live Aid 1985 they opened the show. Awesome😊
Anything QUO from the 70's and you can't go wrong.
Bang on! Straight and tight rock ´n´ roll, that´s Status Quo. Most times that´s all you need.

Quo opened Live Aid with Rockin' All Over the World - possibly the most joyous three minutes of music you'll ever watch.
Saw them in '74 on Toronto Island. Didn't know them, my family left England in '64, but 'Rockin' All Over the World' sounded instantly familiar and comfortable, like coming home. Look forward to hearing them again ever since. And again. And again. 😊🎶❤
Crap song.
Oh my, what a great song, and another fantastic banger by Status Quo is "Deeper Down"!
Down Down
Far out, man. Rock n roll forever. Great pick, Snoops, got my heart pumping!. Love your reaction, Lee. This was a riot! Blessings all.
The Mighty Status Quo!! Great review! Thank you so much for playing them 😀👍🏻
Hell yes! Great request Snoop! Thanks for the reaction Lee!
Looking forward to this one
Over 50 years at the top. 118m record sales. Massive everywhere except the US (God knows why). "Rabbit Hole" is definitely on the cards!

Riding on a big white butterfly
I turned my back away towards the sky
I closed my eyes to look for something
Saw myself as really nothing
Then I realized my butterfly
Wasn't really up there with me
We all make mistakes, forgive me
Would you like to ride my butterfly?
Riding on a long blue paper plane
Getting seasick, sorry once again
Landing strip is getting nearer
Hope the fog lifts, makes it clearer
Then I realized my paper plane
Wasn't really up there with me
We all make mistakes, forgive me
Would you like to ride my paper plane?
Riding in a three grand Deutsche car
A to B is often very far
Home is near, but such a long way
Legs and heads all feel the wrong way
Then I realized my Deutsche car
Is only there to get me somewhere
Even so I really do care
Would you like to ride my Deutsche car?

Tons of their stuff on UA-cam. Legendary that they opened the global charity concert Live Aid. With their number Rockin All Over The World. Classic.
Yes, they did!! Because none of the other Glitterati had the balls to open!!
Yes definitely listen to Quo’s version of Roadhouse Blues also Slow train this has a great drum solo
Thx god they recommend you early seventies stuff! they were amazing from '71 to '77, great till '85 and then ... not that much anymore (drummer and bassist left).
Hello, I agree with you, I'm glad I attended their concert in their heyday in the mid 70's
Don't forget Rick who passed away far too early in 2016🎸

Welcome to the Quo army you will be hooked
45 hundred times next please Quo classic.
Thanks Bro! A good follow up is roll over lay down 🎸
Status Quo makes Ramones sound like a very versatile prog band . Quo are minimalists who were extremely popular in Norway in the seventies 😊
There is a live version of that on UA-cam with a proper ending and not fading out. Don’t Waste My Time is on the same video, well worth watching
Nice reaction Lee .Quo are one of the best live bands you could find .If you want to dig into their Piledriver album you got to play “Big Fat Mama ,”Don’t waste my Time ,and “ Roadhouse blues ,all good rockers .cheers Mate

The Frantic Four. Anything between 'Ma Kelly's Greasy Spoon' in 1970 to the 'Live' album in 1977. Lost their edge a bit after this
Their live version of “Roadhouse Blues” is brilliant. I may be wrong, but it could be live at Donnington Park. Well worth checking out.
It’s Roadhouse blues live at Milton Keynes bowl in 1984. They smash it 👍
@@markburleyemmerson1373 - Cheers for that.

One favorit song from me teen years,
Consider this, Quo have just finished the 2024 European tour and all 32 venues were sold out, a band that started in the early '60s and has toured every year from the beginning, what other band could match that?

I saw them in Scarborough & Halifax, both gigs were sold out & they played a blinder. Rossi still brilliant vocally & his guitar playing awesome 👍

Big Up for this Fella! `Quo` Shit Hot Band. Notice Rossi, grin at Rick, when he sings `Douche Car.` As Rick loved Porsche. Means German Car :)
If you do Roadhouse Blues, I recommend the live version from The End Of The Road tour in 1984 (it’s on UA-cam). Far better than the album version.
Ok thank you for the tip I will keep that in mind!
Been watching that version, Paul. The energy on stage is amazing! And that crowd!
@@L33ReactsGreat channel, by the way!
@@SnoopySnoops1That whole concert is superb, isn’t it mate.
Definitely go for Roadhouse Blues at Milton Keynes ‘84 along with 4500 times, Big fat mama, Down Down, Caroline & Roll over lay down.
Do "Roll over lay down" played live at Milton Keys 1984, you won't regret!
Rock on Quo!
Great reaction bro check out the live Donnington version
DEEPER DOWN
@@stevedahlberg8680 Down Down!
Do roadhouse blues too
Quality.
Always.
Roadhouse Blues is a much covered tune but the Quo version on Piledriver is the best version not recorded by The Doors imho.
Makes me chuckle, 3 grand duetch car thats a BMW.
Bottle throw made the song💥
hi, there's a video of this song that doesn't end like this, it's much cooler!! 🤘🤘🤘
Trust me it’s pronounced Staytus Quo! Creedence Clearwater Revival on speed.
Strange how Quo never really conquered the States. Piledriver arguably the best album followed
