@MrRockNRollLive to me he is one of the best vocalist and guitarist in the world but sadly passed away a few years ago
To me you´ve just witnessed the best twenty minutes of live music ever played live by any band ever ... and , sadly enough, i am sure this will never going to be topped by anybody
This will never ever be bettered by anyone pure brilliance and I never tire of watching it
I totally agree
Look at Pete smashing that skin. Unreal performance. Pure, raw, live in your face rock n roll. Yes
First time I’ve seen them in Carbondale Illinois in 1974 , wasn’t sure who they were , but fell in love , they came to St. Louis in 1976 concert was sold out 15,000 people ,another great show , what a time to be 14 and 17 to see theses guys ,
We in the UK can't figure out why they gave up in the USA :(
And that is why so many Quo fans will tell you that this is their greatest triumph and the song that defines Quo. Your reaction to the live version says it all. Was there that day and it was simply awesome. Lot's of buses from Glasgow down to Milton Keynes, a 6 hour trip but soooo worth it! We all thought it really was the End Of The Road then and I cried unashamedly several times through this! Just masterful, just imagine how long it took to put together over years of rehearsal and deliver it like that live! Shows why they are rated as one of the greatest live bands of all time.
Britains most loved band, they always got that sort of response! Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll 12 bar boogie band ever.
They earned the reaction from the crowd, they paid their dues the old fashioned way. It’s hard to believe but there was a time when they played to almost empty rooms, but they just kept going till the people got it, and boy did we get it.
Remember it well. I was lucky enough to see Quo many times in the 70s and early 80s. Nobody and I mean nobody did rock n roll like them!
probably the best live version of a record ever
Interesting to note that quo had already done some 80 shows before they got to the final gig at Milton Keynes on this tour. They were as tight as hell and I saw them a few times on this tour and every one they gave 110%. There will never be another band like Quo!
Brought tears to my eyes. I was there such vivid memories. Is this not the greatest driving tune if all time. Long live, and god bless the Quo!!!
Thanks for showing this. Brought back so many memories. Lucky enough to have seen them perform this live. Couldn't hear a thing the next day. Totally worth it. They ROCKED!
I was there, was also at Palace the week before and did all 7 nights at Hammersmith. I'm 62 now and seen pretty much every rock band from AC/DC to ZZ Top,NOBODY comes close to these live. Unfuckingbelievable.
100% in agreement , nobody rocked harder back in the day.
I did all the Wembley shows, 7 on the bounce at Ammersmiff 😁, 1 at at Brighton and 1 in Brussels, all on the end of the road tour and it was worth every penny
@dennism5731 No gimmicks,no crazy light shows,no revolving drum kits, just the boys, the crowd and the music. Just as it should be.
@@pauladams3057 spot on there mate, that's Quo pure boogie and rock and roll. From London England
@@RogerRae-p6w Yeah,I'm London too,well just outside.
Mr Rock n Roll you are a legend!!! Thank you so much for playing this version of 4500 Times. Quo have been a massive part of my life for over 40 years! This was emotional 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is the absolute summit of rock 'n' roll stagecraft. Giving the crowd what they want, getting them up and keeping them there for 20+ minutes!. A song honed over a dozen years (at that time) of jamming together and constant gigging to absolute perfection. I still get goose bumps at several points in this song even though I've been lucky enough to experience it live maybe 20+ times in the late 70s and early 80s and have played it on record, tape, CD, DVD and streamed it probably a lot more than 4500 times!
There have certainly been more accomplished and talented musicians than Quo but they were unquestionably the best live rock band ever, anywhere, in my opinion.
If tonight's show in Taunton is their last show (Rossi is unbelievably 75(!) years old and still rocking) then I just want to thank Francis, Rick, Alan and John and all the other members of Quo through the years for being the soundtrack of my life from the age of about 10 when my mum brought home, Paper Plane and Caroline from the youth club she worked at.
Whenever I feel down, I play some Quo and I'll soon be fine. If I'm feeling good, I play some Quo and I feel even better!
Great reaction, Mr Rock N Roll. I really envy you for being able to discover Quo as if they were a new band!
I agree with everything said here. I attended last night’s gig at Taunton. They played a blinder and were clearly enjoying themselves. They did or said nothing obvious to suggest they considered it to be a final gig. But, clearly, circumstances can change quickly at their ages. If it is the last, it’s an appropriate place given that it’s less than 25 miles to Minehead where Rick met the rest of the band in 1965 and the rest is history. A homecoming of sorts. Through thick and thin, thanks a million, Quo!
The one thing you always knew with Quo - You were getting exactly what you paid for. No frills , no apologies, just 12 bar boogie rock for the ages. In terms of musicianship, John Coghlan has always been regarded as one of the best shuffle drummers to come out of the UK. And Rick was definitely up there with the best rhythm players. Francis and Alan, were clearly very competent, but really the didn't need to be much more with the style being played
goosebumps all the way through, thanks so much for this video, your reactions are always great to witness.
I wasn't actually at this gig but I did see them on the 'End of the road' tour, at the NEC in Birmingham. It was my first Quo concert although I had been a fan since Matchstick men. I managed to see them about 15 times in all, so not many at all compared to some! Fantastic live band though!!
Dave.
Simply the best Rock n Roll band ever, you just cannot top that. Told you it would blow you away ❤
A very sad day for Rick because his finances at the time were in a mess. Rick always spent his money quickly and then relied on the next tour or album to earn more money to sort himself out. Only at the time there weren't going to be any more tours or albums.
But he still played with full enthusiasm that day.
I was there!
I LOVE THIS SONG, it's one of my all time favourites.
My voice is in there.
Such an honour to be there and thank you soo much for this ❤️❤️❤️
maybe you were stood next to me LOL. what a day...
@paulrutson, Yes, I'm pretty sure I heard you singing Paul!! 😂😂. I couldn't make this gig but did the NEC one. Bought the concerts on VHS, end of & more from the road. It was a perfect day and a perfect concert!! My best to you mate!
Dave.
Status Quo never retire. It's in their name 😊 They are foundations, pillars, of rock n roll creation. And the Quo army carry their music within us always. Is that ok?? Hope so 🙏😎🤠✨👁️❤️🧙
You said twice in this reaction that you felt like you were on stage with them. That's the essence of a Quo gig, the crowd and the band are as one, in it together. No other band has quite managed to achieve that. There's no other band like Quo!
You released this on the day that Status Quo played there show ever. What a huge mark they left on the music industry!
This was my favourite drummer too personally. No hate on the other 4 drummers but Pete was just such a solid, hard hitting drumming!!
Watch this whole show, you'll love it man : )
Pete Kircher I agree
Just the most brilliant live band.
Thank god they never broke America, or else we would never have seen them so many times in the 70s, in their prime.
That’s the Quo we all know, their classic live anthem 4500 times. At this show Quo we’re using a Tasco 250,000 watt PA system, which at the time was the most powerful system ever used in the UK. From this show checkout Caroline, Roll over lay down, Don’t waste my time & their blistering version of Roadhouse Blues. Any Americans out there picking up on The Quo? 🎸🇬🇧
@markburlryemmerson 1373 I'm amazed that Quo never made it in the states. This guy loves them!! I'm sure many more will after his videos!
Dave.
Oh my god, totally amazing, from the best band ever
Brilliant reaction ,I was sweating with you man, couldn't keep still❤❤
This was my second gig as a young 17 year old, what a gig… what a day.
Alan playing a bass like a lead. RIP Nuff.
Quo ohohoh, Quo ohohohoh, Quo ohohohoh. Absolutely mind blowing, the breakdowns were positively prog rock!
I was at this concert and for 2 days after I was deaf, the sound was awesome :)
I was at Milton Keynes, the weather was red hot and the band were even hotter. I still have the tour jacket (in fact I have two!).
At their peak they were up there with the greatest live bands ever and even now as they come towards the end they still put on a blistering show.
All hail the mighty Quo 💙
Btw even this performance was edited, it was actually a few minutes longer!!
Sad night for us Quo fans, it's the end, Francis is still going to be doing his tunes and chat shows, but Quo this is sadly a farewell- from Quo fans everywhere, thanks for all the wonderful times you gave us- it just won't be the same with out you x
Seen them at the Glasgow Apollo on that tour. Simoly awesome. This vid brings back so many memories of it.
Mr RnR .... brilliant review of a brilliant song. 👍👍👍
Mr Rock N Roll check out the live album Status Quo Live. Live from the Apollo Glasgow 1977. Best crowd atmosphere and best live album ever made period!
I think the Apollo version of 4500 times was even better than this one! Rockin and raw!
This for me is the BEST Live album ever made. Headphone to the max and get lost in the atmosphere. Check it out Mr Rock N Roll, I promise you will never be the same again..
@@dickys7345 Yep, un-mixed, no over dubs, raw as fuck. Unlike the Lizzy one, which was re-recorded in the studio.
I was at this show, about 30ft back infront of Parfitt, what a day, emotional, the end of something amazing 🤘
extremely jealous of you man!!
@hexedriffsstudio saw them four times on that tour, culminating with this last one of the End of the road tour - we thought we'd never see them again, and in a way we never did. Despite seeing them many times after the come back two years later, with the lineup changes and increasingly commercial sound, they never came close to this level again until the reunion tours in 2013 and 2014.
@@jimharris367 Ah man, im SO jealous of you! I saw Quo in 2000/01/02. they were still fantastic then BUT i would of killed to of this line up, was my personal favourite!
But i know what you mean, the late 80's and 90's sound was VERY meh.
I will always and forever be so greatfull to the Quo for the tunes they produced in the 1970s no one even came close to matching them , this video brings back very fond memories and a tear to my eyes , thank you Mr rock and roll .
I was right in the middle of that. There was A LOT of love for the Quo that day. This is a blistering version of 4500 Times.
I was there with a dislocated shoulder in a sling and my girlfriend of the time got sunstroke -
We drove from Manchester and back in an allegro which 3days previous had a wheel fall off - my mate just stuck it back on, said it'd be fine ( and it was)
WHAT a day 😅😅
I was at this gig, great memories.
I did the Crystal Palace one. Thin Lizzy and Dave Edmonds supporting I think. Remember little Steve getting bottled off.😂😂
@@hayzeeblokeand all in the pissing rain!...great day,👍🏽
Same Bro.. :)
@@hayzeebloke You would not believe Quo were so big that Thin Lizzy supported.
That ending...that solid wall of noise....then boooooom!....still sets what hair I have left on the back of my neck on edge....
The best rock and roll band in the land 🇬🇧
I'm a fan of Status O from Japan.
It's been 45 years since I knew them.
My favorite QUO album is (If you can't stand the heat).
It seems that some people in the UK in their home country say that if they are not original members, they are not QUO, but if Rock is purely inherited, that doesn't matter.
I think the current members are also wonderful.
StatusQuo is StatusQuo!
Next, please go to Road house blues live.
よろしく
Their live performances were legendary. Particular songs being part of their established performance for decades, with the evolution of them being self-evident. They did add a little extra on this tour, though, what with it supposedly being their final one! At the time, there was a slight sense of sadness listening to them, as you genuinely thought it was the last time you'd get to hear it being performed, (and you could argue that it was, in the form that Quo took at the time), but as we knew a few years later, that it wasn't exactly the, 'end of the road', more a slight break in a layby. The other 2 songs that epitomise Quo's live work has to be, 'Bye Bye Johnny', and, 'Roadhouse Blues.' If you listen to this trio, (with 4500 Times), then you get to understand just how good they are as a live act. I can't believe it's 40 years since this live performance. How time flies.
I saw the Frantic Four live in Germany almost 12-14 times between the 70s and 80s and was absolutely thrilled every time. When they started doing all the cover versions of Beach Boys, Fleetwood etc. in the late 80s, my enthusiasm waned a bit. I'm even more pleased to see the old live recordings here.
Check out over the edge from the same concert sung by arguably the best singer in the band, Mr Alan Lancaster on the bass.
Another great music memory for me, as i was there . Incredible band live back then 🎸🎵🍷
it was an amazing gig, Quo seemed to play for hours, we were right at the front 4 of us, 3 were 18 and my brother was 15, it was a gorgeous sunny hot day and we were sooo drunk, oh the good old days 😅
Hey Mr Rock n Roll I was at that gig 4500 times totally ROCKED
Can't wait 💥 The FranticFour period, was the best!
Not the Frantic Four, John Coghlan had already left, been pushed whatever it was. I was there though, and actually believed that this would be last time! 🤣🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Your reaction is how I felt and still feel 40 years ago
I’ll be feeling that 40 years later too🤘🏻
Man I love ur channel. Keep on rockin brother! All the best from the UK 🤘🤘
100%Quo at their best.
Tonight (23rd August 2024) is the last time Status Quo will perform live, they are retiring sadly.
Really????
@@dethmerwillems5439Rossi has said he can’t see Quo carrying on as next year he’s going to be doing his theatre shows and he’s gonna be even older in 2026. But they’ve not officially confirmed anything.
Hasn't been Quo for decades. Rossi should have packed it in after Parfitt died.
I was there :-)
agree with other commenters. Don’t care what Rossi says, without Rick, there’s no Quo
20 minutes of pure unadulterated brilliance
Rick is probably the most underrated rhythm guitarist of all time. Back to the stack and just used to charge his way through everything, absolute legend.
A reaction to this who show would be INSANE ✌🏻✌️
Oh yeah 🤘
My earliest memory is of my dad coming home from this gig, I was 3yrs old, I’ve been a massive Quo fan from that day. My dad was buzzing his tits off when he got back. It was early hrs in the morning when he got back and he couldn’t wait to tell me about it, he woke me up to tell me how good it was, he was almost in tears he was so excited, I still have the program from this gig which he left me along with his vinyl collection when he died. Good times.
Kirchers drums are insane on this show.
That's Rock'n'Roll!!!!
I was there wow how the years go by.
I love QUO and the QUO army... Freakin´ Awesome.
If 45 isn't a rock masterpiece, then I give up. Rocked to this live, transported to pure ecstasy.
Brilliant 🎸😀🍻
Absolutely brother!!!! Mr Rockn roll that's how you react to this classic!! Rick is the real deal , greatest rythm guitarrist in rock Quo are just it!
Quite a wonderful moment in Quo history. Love that bit right at the end where Pete Kircher puts his head down and the three guitarists are looking towards the drums waiting to hit the last notes of the song….. superb!
What a moment.
Sir, you are a legend. Thank you for your positivity surrounding the Quo. A rarity down the years.
I was at the gig the week before ar Crystal Palace. A wet afternoon - magnificent concert. Quo, never taking themselves too seriously, brilliant entertaining rock boogie.
The ultimate Quo track.
Untouchable.
Never the same without Alan Lancaster's amazing bass riffs.
They played the Antrim forum twice that year I was 19. Alan Lancaster was my favourite member of the band, saw them one last time this year aged 58.🎉🎉🎉
I was there :) Big Up for this !!
I was there! This was awesome. A true highlight of the set! 😎🤘
THAT IS ROCKIN AND ROLL AT ITS PUREST!!
Great stuff !!!💪💪💪💪💪💪
Best live of 45 hundred times was apollo glasgow , was up in the balcony on their live at the apollo, everyone was headbanging to every one of their songs
I was there as well absolutely brilliant band but every good thing sadly comes to an end I will miss their shows
Rock mate you should not forget this fact:
Status Quo were, are and will be forever Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster, Francis Rossi and John Coghlan. End of story...
A sad day(23/08/2024) for music. No longer the epitome of rock/boogie will enlighten us with a 'live' Quo gig. Quo tunes are always a daily occurrence, so that will have to do. Quo the best!!! 🎸🎸
Well this was over an 90 minutes into their last ever show, the first around. Only live aid got them back together as this line-up
I've seen a lot of big bands live and incredibly none come close to this... that's perfect brother.
Best band Live ever, quo just keeps on rocking on stage
My fave quo song ❤
This performance was simply sublime.
I was at this concert, absolutely fantastic.Best concert I've ever been to,they were on for about 2hrs 45 mins,Quo at their very best.
I remember this so well. Saw Quo twice on this tour, once at the Manchester Apollo UK & then this gig. I remember after this song they'd go straight into Big Fat Mama, then Don't Waste My Time & close the set with Roadhouse Blues. By the time it got to Big Fat Mama, everyone in the crowd was so knackered we could only stand & stare. BTW if you watch the whole gig online (highly recommended) it shows every song except one. Between Caroline & Roll Over Lay Down a the beginning they did Paper Plane, but for some reason it was never put on the video. 😀😀😀😀
This was when Alan Lancaster's bass sound had equal billing with the rhythm and lead guitar's. Once he was forced out by Rossi, the bass was relegated to background noise.
Was at Milton Keynes. Loved it. Shame they decided to retire just this week. "QUO"
You really want to find a cover-/tribute band who can do a performance of 4500 times?
Then come to the Crossed Guitars Festival in Frieschepalen / NL next year on Friday, 30th May 2025.
Status Quotes is the band ... and the performance is so close to the sound of the Frantic Four (Quo 1970-82) that you could think, Rick and Francis and Alan are on stage.... no joke, not kidding, no bullshit! Come over here to Europe end of May 2025 and you will have the opportunity to see this live on stage.
Can’t believe it is 40 years since they performed this - truly the end of an era. Without Nuff on bass they just couldn’t rock as hard as they did before. The reunion gigs confirmed this and showcased the original sound with Spud shuffling away on the drums.
I have had the pleasure of seeing pretty much everyone there is to see since the 70’s and Quo were by far the best live. If I were to score them at 100, the next best would be around 90, they were that good.
I was at that concert. was an amazing day. gary glitter even played there. lol wasn't in prison yet. lol
You, Sir, are amazing! As is this song by my fav band, of course
That's why they are known as the FRANTIC FOUR
You are definitely a member of the Quo army now
🔥🔥
Best live band! Epic song, epic live version!
Best live band ever
I was there. Quo were magnificent that night.
Last night 23/8/24 went to the last Status Quo gig ever! ( According to Mr Rossi ) What a fantastic night had by all! definitely a night to remember. Which incidentally is just over forty years since this concert, god i was only fifteen when i saw them at MK End of the Road tour 19984.
Can we first enjoy this one?? Brother's got a long list to get through 😉😉😝😝💥
I was there....brilliant gig.
This was their "supposed farewell concert"!
For context, Quo were THE top rock band in the UK and rest of the world from about 1975 to this concert. Much bigger than Sabbath and Maiden, but, as they never broke the US.......
Roll Over Lay Down, Backwater. Big Fat Mama, Paper Plane and 4500x are my favourite Quo songs, especially live!
Great..!
