    As someone who has done Amazon DSP on the side and has an engineering background/career, I find the whole concept of Amazon DSP work being self-employed crazy. It is disguised employment and I'm not sure why IR35 doesn't come into play, for me this makes Amazon viable as I put the money I made through my accounts to fund ventures but for most people its just a huge loss of employment benefits. Many DSPs do not pay minimum wage with hours considered and you have no control over the number of parcels, stops, routing, breaks, or driving policies, you're not empowered to reject faulty vans or excessive routes, and you're micromanaged. No part of this Job is self-employed people are just being exploited and im baffled that the HMRC or Government hasn't stepped in, its a zero hours contract but worse.

      And on top of all of this you deliver for an agreed day rate so its not like you can invoice them after it takes you 10 hours+ to complete a route. There is no contract negotiation or clauses for excessive loads, they generate the invoices for you and charge you £12 per invoice per week through wise or similar. The charge for the van is nominal at around £5 per day BUT if you use your own van for some companies you forfeit the benefit of a fuel card so many only have that information in the advert to fluff it up as self-employment.

    Will be starting Amazon dsp soon, £153 a day (bonus rate Xmas) weekly hire charge is £210. 25.5p paid per mile (fuel costs) will update this comment after I start :)

    Hi mate apologies if this has been asked before but do you know which UK car insurance companies are best for Amazon Flex. I’ve contacted a few of the big companies and they’re all saying they don’t allow top up insurance.

    • @LeftoverVenison
      @LeftoverVenison  3 роки тому +3

      Hey Jack - I'm not really sure to be honest mate. I use Churchill myself (and have done for a few years now) but have business use on my policy anyway - they accepted the hire and reward / courier insurance top up provided by Amazon (Zurich) no bother at all though.

    I’ve been doing this as my main source of income and I make over 1,000 a month happily and it’s a decent job no boss I think this is a lot better then may other full time jobs you can get I disagree with that you will be poor as a lot of shift are 77 for 3 hours 30 mins so even if you was to do one of them a day Monday to Friday you could be happy depends on what job you come from and what job you are looking for

    • @dylanblake23
      @dylanblake23 3 роки тому

      I also find it a bit crappy the way you say your actually self employed like I get what your saying but this can be a proper job and alot of people do it as there real job and you can do it full time and earn good money you keep saying it’s a night mate but it’s not really I mean also depends where you are I like in Kent area so it’s probably alot better here but you can easily and with decent money do it full time like I say I prefer this over some jobs I have had by far.

      @@dylanblake23 Hello there. Glad you're happy doing this full time mate (not that you can work full time, due to the hour cap but I get what you're saying) - each to their own. Personally, as I say in the video (which is of course mostly about working for a DSP) I would hate to be beholden to the app for my daily bread. And no, it's not really being self employed if you work for a DSP - at all. Also, if I earned just over 1,000 a month I'd be pretty poor to be honest, but that obviously depends on personal circumstances.

      @@LeftoverVenison yes I understand and I only said 1000 a month but you can earn a lot more then that also I am young so it’s alright for me maybe not if your older but it’s defo doable full time sort of just not for different situations in your case it wouldn’t but if your looking for a job and your young you definitely can do it full time and it’s better hours and better pay then many many jobs but yes I agree the dps sound really bad and crappy (sorry if my spelling or punctuation is bad I have dyslexia so not so good at writing) but for me it’s good as I earn over 1000 a month well over and I’m saving up to go on a accounting course for my future but again yes I agree if your older with a lot of things to pay for maybe not but again depending on your situation you can happily do it full time

And making Flex deliveries would definitely be preferable to a job like that (for me at least anyway) haha.

      @@LeftoverVenison thanks mate and yeah I definitely understand what your saying I think it can be a good job but only depending on the situation your in maybe not if you have rent a car and a family to pay out for but if your hound and want a job it’s 10x better then most jobs out there also I think it’s good experience to get your self into making your your on time with things and working for your self managing times to go there and actually booking slots not being forced to go to work really wanting to go.
