- The Animals were an English music group of the 1960s known in the United States as part of the British Invasion known for their gritty, bluesy sound and deep-voiced frontman Eric Burdon. The band balanced tough, rock-edged pop singles against rhythm and blues-oriented album material. The Animals underwent numerous personnel changes and emerged as an exponent of psychedelic rock before dissolving at the end of the decade. They had a comeback in 1983 and started a world tour. In early 1984 the band disbanded. There have been several reunions of the original group and in recent times Burdon and original drummer John Steel have been touring with new versions of the Animals as Eric Burdon & the Animals and Animals & Friends.
"Good Times" is a song recorded by Eric Burdon & The Animals. It was released on the 1967 album Winds of Change. The lyrics tell the story of someone who regrets having wasted too much time doing useless things.
Superbowl 59 commercial had this song, man what a banger... I didn't know
Haven’t heard this for decades! Long live the Animals!
Grossly underrated song. Eric is basically begging everyone from the heart not to repeat the mistakes he made and you can feel the pain in his voice.
Very true...
I just heard this for the first time on a movie soundtrack. I'm furious this isn't played so much on the radio that we're all sick of it by now. Should be one of the classics.
Small Time Crimes…
What mistakes were those?
@@WCephei77HD Listen to the lyrics. Too much drugs and alcohol (having "good times" instead of spending good times with friends and family, instead of complainin', he could have been gainin', etc.
I've struggled a lot with alcohol and drugs. This song hits home hard, all of that boozing, I was really losing...good times.
👍
Not alone! Never give up, always gonna be a battle.
We are in this together because only we understand
Keep on keeping on and use your Higher Power when it gets tough. One Day at a time.. Gods speed.
Exactly, Alcohol Is The Devil's Brew
Eric burdon doesn't get credit he deserves in rock history
Yes he does. Just not as a solo artists. You do know he created the band WAR right?
@@Mrpachuko13 even so war ain't as big as the animals and he was super underrated in my eyes
you are perfectly right
Sweet JimmyDa best!!
No.... no he does not.
Been sober 5 yrs now being 51.' Having Good times' for 34 yrs.Thing is the last 5 yrs have been the best times. No I don't regret the good times,I was just lost. Some never find their way. When Eric mentioned Sinnin' & you could have been winnin' that's powerful.
Perfect song for the film Small Town Crime.
Recently found this song - it illustrates perfectly what many will never learn until its too late. Thank god I came to this realization in my 30s.
I just heard this song on the radio, never heard it before, didn't even know the band - but it hit me like a slap in the face. This bitterness, this painful grin... resonates so deeply within me.
And I don't even understand how. I'm currently in my twenties, my life's going all fine - why listening to a song lamenting about the lost "good old times"?
I don't know, yet I keep coming back over and over again with a strange feeling of emptiness and regret.
Well, I guess, that's the point about good music - lets you feel things you never thought you can feel.
I feel you
The thing is... You did find it, better late than never! It is a powerful song.
I'm old enough to remember this song ...they were good times back then... or at least we thought they were. But this song is SO relevant today I could cry for all the wasted times the rich have tried to pretend all is well.
Dont keep regrets. But look to adjust life to feel better.
My goal in life at this point is to have a good time all the time as long as it doesnt hurt yourself or others.
Maybee with this music u are able to get feelings from a life before? 🤷🏻♂️
When this song opened the movie 'Small Town Crime', I was hooked immediately! Have not heard this great tune in like 50 years!
No

John Hawkes is just so fulfilling. He is a true chameleon. The movie where Christian Bale escaped from a Thai prison camp in Vietnam.
I heard this song in a skatevideo! Was also hooked immediately!
@@connykomen4237 Baker 3 yeah that's were I first heard it
Großartig
Immer noch einer der besten Songs ever
noch einmal
This is the first time I heard Eric's natural british accent and it freaks me out.
Heard this song when discovering the movie Small time crime. Great song, with a lot of meaning.
ayy me too, watched it like a week ago and been humming it ever since.
Song for people who are looking back and forward at the same time!
shit man I do that all the time ........WOW
1977-1983 Good time wasted having good times. Youth is lost on the young.
The animals were a band that held their own during the british invasion they were iconic inspirational ,and excellent
Who's here from the 2025 Super Bowl for this song!? 🙋🏻♀️
Baker 2005. And the super bowl awakened this song within me
"one for the road" brought me here. Almost 50 now and still detecting new songs...
Wow. This took me completely by surprise. Had never heard it before. A hidden classic. The kind you just wanna keep listening to. Over and over.
Eric Burdon, came from the same area as myself, what an incredible vocalist
This was so badass in the opening for Die Katze. Great movie
I'm an oldie who grew up with this wonderful band. It always struck me as unusual that Eric as a young man of 26 (when this track was penned) should reflect on his "Good Times". At 74 years of age now, I'm guessing he packed some mighty good times into those years nonetheless. A great band and to this day, Eric remains one of my favourite vocalists ever. Thanks for the post.
thank you, Linda. for the story... you must be a beautiful girl and a clever woman
I want to smoke a joint with you Linda Jones.....Good Times!
Love this band!
Great stuff, Linda.
Don't forget his "when I was young". Epic. I grew up listening to them on my transistor radio working on daddy's farm listening to Philly radio.
This is the kind of song that will play in your head all day
Greatest rock band of all time....
Another little jewel from the early Animals ! Thanks !!
Brilliant, under rated song. It reminds me of my father and my former husband.
Haunting.
This is about all of us in one way or another,, isn't it... Alex.
I love this song! It's timeless and full of truth!
Classic tune, was way ahead of it's time.👍
Just love this song!

Just watched Small Town Crime and this was the main song. Never heard it before. Terrific song.
Eric Burdon is one of the most soulful singers ever.
As I hurtle towards my sixth decade, this song could be the sound track of my life.
know what you mean, this is the sound track to a lot of peoples life around our age
Affirmative !
I hope you’ve enjoyed the good times in the last 4 years.
@@loganroark3916 I cannot complain, my friend.
What doesn't kill us only makes us more bitter and I am one angry dude.
I love 60s 70s music the most. Always have, always will 😎❤️ ☮️ ✌️
Beautiful song. One of the greatest bands of the 60's.
-gute Zeit ...... danke für den Upload.,.. beste Wünsche.....❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The wife and I love this song found it in the movie, paused the movie to look it up , and Then finished the movie. S tier
I grew up in the 90s and I gotta say The Animals and especially Eric are just timeless Masters of music 🔥🔥👑
True
Eric Burdon - one of the most underestimated musicians. many of the most underestimated songs.
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
This song is timeless and GREAT!!!
Diese Lied sagt einfach die Wahrheit und die ist heute selten,, denn die Menschen möchten sich nicht erinnern an das was vielleicht einmal war ,,
I can't believe never heard this and been an Animals fan since the 60's. Small Town Crime used this to great effect, and indeed is a movie worth watching for the Brilliant John Hawkes,
Lots to add about the song and about that little film too, but I mostly stopped in here to add another tipped hat to the nuanced work of John Hawkes. Hollywood Blockbusters don't interest me. Understated Indies and the character actors - such as Hawkes - that carry them interest me.
@@alexreid4414 completely agree!
Andrew Reynolds from 10 years ago brought here TODAY!! Peace be with all you rockers!!!
Thank you, the same for you ☮️😉✌️🤘🎶
Yup and Reynolds also showed me "Roxy music"

Reminds me of my youth and my old crazy friends and now I’m middle age, I survived and I think of all the good times that’s been wasted having good times!!!!!
You can relate to this song the older you get. I wish I could go back to the good times in the 70s.

Listening to this song in 1967 bought me here.
Superb song, such a great singer
quit drinking a few months ago, randomly heard this song on the radio today. Really summarizes years of the past, all the good time I wasted having good times.
Deep lyrics and good sound, like it very much.
Something in this Song makes it.
IT's not easy to explain but there is something.
Love it!
The truth beyond the illusion of how we placed having a good time as primary in America,s and it degrated our spiritual integrity our authenticity as love, peace filled beings. I believe this was our reaction to all the black activities we have viewed and experienced even though our conscious mind didnt know much of it our gut and sub.conscious does pick it up like empathy. so time is never wasted we are always in choice of growth exspansion and inner healing as deep as oceans and as far back we are from we now return with the understanding of this song back then no one got it like we understand it today. A Great Band in a harsh world.❤
So well spoken and the Truth.
Love and Light
@@megatoncellularI guess your subconsciousness just wrote 'black activities' then...
YAAS here we all are having a jolly good time and everything is working out fine haha *sigh* . My absolute fave song by The Animals.
My dad died at 10:30pm last night i played this song to him his favourite before he passed

Gotta love Eric Burden and the Animals!!!One of a kind vibes-from the ♥️
What a classic.
Super. Danke fürs hochladen ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
small town crime made me search for this song. fck the music industry for burying such a treasure
Me 2
One of the few rare movies that I can watch again, and again.
But also, thank the music industry for burying suck a treasure. I'm glad the first time I heard this it was in "Small Town Crime." Imagine how much it would suck if they would have picked a cliche song from the same music era.
#metoo
i know I'm kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to stream new series online?
Super bowl brought me here. Song is hard
Great tune, remember buying this
My life and my best friends back in the day. Now they’ve all passed away. We had so much fun, not anymore.

Hello from Berlin, Germany .- i love this guy 👍😍
This guy is the best, almost like he knew me personally back in the day, lol
Just watched "Small town crime". I had to look it up. I hadn't heard it since my youth. Great song 😊
The Animals are awesome 👏 😊
Das war wirklich eine gute Zeit❤
I admire the astonishing worldly wisdom lyrics for a (at that time) just 26 years old young man. From my 60yo point of view...
Age really is just a number ... you might find yourself amazed at the number of people I've met who are 60 plus and have no more wisdom than a drunken schoolboy, it's kind of irritating actually .. especially when these people, who have never spent a day in their lives truly living and learning, try to lecture people .. more irritating still is when these people won't listen to you on the basis that they're older ... it's a kind of wisdom in itself to be listening out for wisdom from even the most unexpected places..
The lyrics to this song reflect so painfully but truthfully the story of my life..My favourite Animals song & one of their most underrated.
Cheers to you all from a "North- East Lad".
Goodtimes, love these guys!!
My mother used to sing that song to me and now I take that advice to heart. Having much more good times :)
It was always good to see them playing at the CLUB-A-GO GO in Newcastle, in the 6o's
Never heard this song until I heard it in some movie--Definitely underrated and under played back in the day.
Good song, pretty deep and relatable to most people
And he was so young to write such a mature song
Das waren gute Zeiten...
Пятьдесят лет назад мне не нравились песни Animals. Не давно я услышал эту песню первый раз. Сначала подумал, что это Rolling Stones. Сейчас слушаю песни Animals совсем по-другому, они мне нравятся...
