56 years old, reportedly recorded in one take in a session that took all of 15 minutes, and it still sounds stunning. An all time classic that will never ever date.
This is the most powerful version of this immortal classic. Still sends shivers down my spine, particularly during the solo, 55 years after it was recorded.
this video is obviously not even close to 720p. its a lower resolution scaled up to 720p. just go to TheBeatlesVevo and look at their musicvideos. they are in true 1080p HD (i have all of their music videos on Blu ray). and on blu ray they look even better than on youtube. this video is just 480p or less.
You realize 72mm film is MUCH higher quality than anything HD we have today, right? It's just a matter of getting the master recordings and digitizing them. The reason things looked so bad at home, was because we did not have nearly enough bandwidth to send that much data.
My god, no matter how many times I watch this, it still shocks me to hear that voice come out of that man. Such a booming, powerful voice out of such a young fella
This is probably one of the most badass catchy rock/country best guitar riffs I've ever heard in my life. Buddy o' mine recommended it to me. The Organ solo actually blew my mind into pieces. I will listen to this song until i go deaf, and even then, I'll probably still be playing it. Peace!
I have covered this song since 1968. We know what a talent Eric was, but Alan Price on keyboards frickin' ripped. The Animals should continue to be remembered for the talent the carried, which was (and is) not true of all pop bands then.
To everyone hating on these kids coming off Suicide Squad after discovering the track - have some tolerance, it´s still better than kids never getting to know of a masterpiece in a class of its own, like this song. Everyone got to find it somehow, and not everyone was blessed to be alive when it came out and actually got it on a record. Just enjoy the song and let others enjoy it too. :)
Possibly my favorite song of all times, I heard it so many times since childhood and somehow it always feels as if the whole atmosphere around me changes when I play it
Ummm! My braniac female cousin belted this out at my mother’s memorial and nailed it. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This song always reminds me of that time with my extended family. “The cousins” as my aunt called us. We were getting along perfectly splashing about in the pond at their farm. We were in our late 50’s to the ‘30’s as a cousin group. Normally it’s not a happy time when your mother dies. But the gathering and the family cohesion and the, well, zaniness of the get- together made it doable. It really was a magical moment in a difficult time.
82 years old and still enjoy it. Friend was singer in a group that played in a hotel in Cape Town and they always ended the Saturday night sessions with this number. Brings back amazing memories.!!!
I listened to Eric Burdon and The Animals at their live performance at the Broadbeach Blues Festival yesterday 22nd May 2016, down at the Gold Coast here in Australia - and he's still got an amazing voice - first song was Spill The Wine, and also When I Was Young, Mama Told Me Not To Come, many others and finally finished with Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and The House Of The Rising Sun - then he and the band came back for an encore and performed We Gotta Get Out Of This Place and It's My Life - and for the very last song as a 2nd encore, Hold On I'm Coming.............
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one My mother was a tailor She sewed my new blue jeans My father was a gamblin' man Down in New Orleans Now the only thing a gambler needs Is a suitcase and a trunk And the only time that he's satisfied Is when he's on a drunk Oh mother tell your children Not to do what I have done To spend your life in sin and misery In the House of the Rising Sun With one foot on the platform And the other foot on the train I'm going back to New Orleans To wear that ball and chain There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun And it's been the ruin of many young poor boys And god, I know I'm one
oh there in the disc.,...that sux bad uploader,.. you ahve idea,..yes,...sweety,..we was looking for a video WITH lyrics,..here are no lyrics,...so THAT is why,..you sux totaly,..
This is just my favorite songs of all time. I remeber when I first heard it on the radio it was like 10 years ago when I was 4 years old. This is such a classic.
"Discovered" The Animals a few days ago and fall in love! And this happens extreme rarely to me. Absolutely great band, I recommend listening to their other songs! Eric has the best voice!
Remember when I played this video - not necesserly from this chanel - to my late Japanese wife. She did like the song - a LOT. But oboy she was happy and shined as soon as she saw the entire band was bowing after the song. She said "They are so polite and being so great after a amazing song and performance" 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love how happy and pleased with himself the guitarist looks in the end of the song with the sad lyrics and everyone else in the band stonefaced (3:33) XD.
My grandma told me when I was little how she sang this song totally drunk on a party bc the singer of the hired band didn't know the lyrics, so it always makes me think of her and makes me happy, haha 💗
Usually old stuff is the best. Reminding us of our childwood. Reminding how people were nice back then, when family was important, when we used to play out side, reminding us how happy we were back then... now days, kids smoking weed, slapping their mothers, stealing and joining gangs or just camping at the front of the screen. I'm from the 90's, but I gotta tell, I had no technology, no pc's.. no shit, but I was happy
Can people just enjoy a song without saying that people should get a taste of this music. We get it there was good music in the 1900's no need to ruin it with your comment
The amount of comments on here about their appearance, they're looks etc - focus on irrelevant - is evidence that we've regressed to the Fall of Rome. F#cki#g plebs. The Animals are Gods. One in a million cultural gift to the world. Have some respect.

Silex Bin nur ich das, oder sieht der Gitarrist irgendwie aus wie Nico mit einer Scheißfrisur? (Und sonst ist Nico auch schöner, aber eine Ähnlichkeit besteht da doch...)
Amazing how songs like this still remain popular after all these years, I wonder if present day music will still be played in 50 years time, I think not.
56 years old, reportedly recorded in one take in a session that took all of 15 minutes, and it still sounds stunning. An all time classic that will never ever date.
I never knew that. Thats impressive!
Oh, the dude , I'm 55 years old.
63 and still listening in 2024. 🙂
Take 2 years off for COVID
80
This is the most powerful version of this immortal classic. Still sends shivers down my spine, particularly during the solo, 55 years after it was recorded.
I wish we could see all the stuff from the 60's and 50's in this kind of quality.
this video is obviously not even close to 720p. its a lower resolution scaled up to 720p. just go to TheBeatlesVevo and look at their musicvideos. they are in true 1080p HD (i have all of their music videos on Blu ray). and on blu ray they look even better than on youtube. this video is just 480p or less.
Dickbag
Just go watch practically anything from that time and even earlier on Blu-ray. Film holds so much detail.
PassCookie you can check you know and it is 720p at max
was früher gut war, ist es heute auch noch. Hammer Song
Eric Burdon has such a unique voice, gotta love that vocal range.

This video looks surprisingly good for how old it is
***** OH YES IT IS .......
In sure the video is remastered in some way

The reason things looked so bad at home, was because we did not have nearly enough bandwidth to send that much data.
Melo Kix Before you say something stupid, go look at the movie Bullit. It's from the same era and doesn't need a remaster to look amazingly clear.
Nitro2030ce not higher quality than 4k
Never would anyone expect a kid like that to belt THAT voice out! Wow!
My god, no matter how many times I watch this, it still shocks me to hear that voice come out of that man. Such a booming, powerful voice out of such a young fella
They don't make these anymore .. now we have Justin beaver.. people don't make good music no more.
THIS SONG DEFINES A GENERATION; MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I'M EXPERIENCING THE 60'S
BRAVOOOOOOOO ERIKA

❤
no, the song is just good
This is probably one of the most badass catchy rock/country best guitar riffs I've ever heard in my life. Buddy o' mine recommended it to me. The Organ solo actually blew my mind into pieces. I will listen to this song until i go deaf, and even then, I'll probably still be playing it. Peace!
Boy, those guys had the blues in them. Just awesome!
And that voice! Incredible it could come from such a kid's body.
incredible that it comes from a human body at all, it's amazing.
I have covered this song since 1968. We know what a talent Eric was, but Alan Price on keyboards frickin' ripped. The Animals should continue to be remembered for the talent the carried, which was (and is) not true of all pop bands then.
Date: So how old are you? Lead singer: Idk somewhere around 16 and 58

EXACTLY!!
Logan Marianno

i think i heared in on Supernatural first, if that is somewhat better :D
I played this in Marching Band this season and loved it.
That's how I discovered it.
God they were so ahead of their time! Absolutely incredible.
Behold true greatness
This song is 50 years old
& I'm sure it will still be relevant 100 years from now.
Still 8 years later.
Possibly my favorite song of all times, I heard it so many times since childhood and somehow it always feels as if the whole atmosphere around me changes when I play it
Classic and timeless. 298 people are just plain nuts. I love the way Eric Burdon looks right into the camera...like he knows something we don't.
One of the greatest voices in the Rock and Roll Eric Burdon
Ummm!
My braniac female cousin belted this out at my mother’s memorial and nailed it.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

Truly deserving of being considered a classic. Awesome song.

Trees Vermaas +2
why cant there be good music like this anymore???
God,..listening to Eric Burdon singing this will always be one of the highlights in my life.
This song has a smooth and morbid feel. Love it.
eines der schönsten Lieder die ich im Laufe meiner 70 Jahre gehört habe.
They all look so young and yet the lead singer has such a grown up voice! Remarkable talent, a beautiful song!
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know I'm one
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gamblin' man
Down in New Orleans
Now the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time that he's satisfied
Is when he's on a drunk
Oh mother tell your children
Not to do what I have done
To spend your life in sin and misery
In the House of the Rising Sun
With one foot on the platform
And the other foot on the train
I'm going back to New Orleans
To wear that ball and chain
There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many young poor boys
And god, I know I'm one
Good job. I have no idea why so many people botch these lyrics.
oh there in the disc.,...that sux bad uploader,..

Nico T The lyrics are in the description, or was it edited into the description after this comment?
Eric Burdon and The Animals are Legends
one of the greatest songs of all times
Such instrumentals, such a voice, such choreography, beyond compare;, no other recording comes near.
OMG that voice....
Definitely one of the best songs of all time.
The organ in this. Damn!
+Fantastic Furry Metal As Fuck and that back then. Awesome.
J'adorais déjà dans les années 60 et je les écoute encore aujourd'hui toujours avec le même plaisir !!!!!!!!!
da sempre la mia canzone preferita
This is just my favorite songs of all time. I remeber when I first heard it on the radio it was like 10 years ago when I was 4 years old. This is such a classic.
вечная благодарность и поклон
Certain songs should never be remade by anyone. This is one of them!
This song is a remake of a centuries-old song.
Sometimes I forget what the good stuff sounds like. This was well worth a listen.
"Discovered" The Animals a few days ago and fall in love! And this happens extreme rarely to me. Absolutely great band, I recommend listening to their other songs! Eric has the best voice!
Damn he was killing that organ haha bad ass I love old school songs.
That organ player is INSANE
Eric Burdon - vocals
Alan Price - keyboards
Hilton Valentine - guitar
Chas Chandler - bass
John Steel - drums
FANTASTIC!!! I will never be able to play it on the guitar satisfactorily. THUMBS UP!!

896 people were holding their computers upside down and thought the dislike button was a like button
My grandma told me when I was little how she sang this song totally drunk on a party bc the singer of the hired band didn't know the lyrics, so it always makes me think of her and makes me happy, haha 💗
Great job by everyone on this classic! Especially by Eric Burdon!
Klasyka. Słuchałem tego jak chodziłem do szkoły podstawowej. Nadal jest niesamowite.
Jakie to były lata? Ja teraz chodzę do liceum.
W polskiej wersji. W więziennym szpitalu na zgniłym posłaniu nieznany młodzieniec umiera...
Eric Burdon is really handsome. I love this song.
it's giving me goosebumps every time i listen to it.
I love these untamed styles
Love this song and this group, they didn't care about how they looked, they knew they could sing and that is all that mattered to them.
I cant believe Eric is 85 soon. My dad brought me up on this great tune.
Damn, i want to live in the 50's or 60's, just for 2-3 Days...
+Rouveli Me too q_q

Yeah I saw it.. Was a good movie :)
We did this song as a fill-in for our album, bit now glad we reached out to you all!
Oh how I love these great old songs. This one was a particular favorite of mine throughout my teen years, and well beyond.
Usually old stuff is the best. Reminding us of our childwood. Reminding how people were nice back then, when family was important, when we used to play out side, reminding us how happy we were back then... now days, kids smoking weed, slapping their mothers, stealing and joining gangs or just camping at the front of the screen. this could very well be the greatest record of all time
the power behind this song,,,
Don't find damn good music like this these days. That's the sad thing about bein 15.
This song was b4 my time... ( 48 yrs old now ) but my dad got me hooked on these oldies but goodies !!
Omg same !!!!! Sucks he’s gone now
This video is still modern and fresh this days! Simple but effective! Great direction...
Can people just enjoy a song without saying that people should get a taste of this music. We get it there was good music in the 1900's no need to ruin it with your comment
JokerHut agree this type of music is amazing
Alexander Georgiev It is, but there is no need to spam the comment section with how amazing it is. There's a like button
You are right for thes too
I hit the like button
JokerHut you are very right
JokerHut But that is what a comment section is for l.😂
This music is used quite a lot recently, especially in Mafia III's trailer.
LOL LOL BRO
CASINO MOVIE THE FIRST THING CAME INTO MY MIND
All Along The Watchtower too :v
A lot of dark sixties music like this and Paint It, Black has been used a lot lately.
and suicide squad
And magnificent seven
The amount of comments on here about their appearance, they're looks etc - focus on irrelevant - is evidence that we've regressed to the Fall of Rome. F#cki#g plebs. The Animals are Gods. One in a million cultural gift to the world. Have some respect.
I agree perfectly
Average length of an empire is 250 years, our time has come.
mOST underrated band of alllllllllllll time.. no fucking lie.
Cultural gift? Uh, please. White boys got no culture of their own.
yeah they were awesome back than. You have to consinder it was the 60s. The Song is awesome but the video is bad. But hey it was the fucking 60's
I love this song!! And the quality of the video is surprisingly good.
The quality is actually nowhere near as good as it could be.
pure masterpiece, love 60's music and this is my favourite. really stands the test of time 50 years on.
That organ solo!
What are you gonna do about your family? Shhhh....
Loudy yes, erstmal diesen geilen Track hören. Der Trailer ist einfach genial!
I'm sorry I don't speak your language.
Kevin Falk überkrass :D ^^
Loudy then i translate for him: yes,i am glad to hear this track. the trailer is f***** awesome!
Hawx2istlooooooooool I don't know why I was expecting a german boy. mhh. Anyway, thanks for your translation, man. Although it's a kind of rough translation. hehe
Only if music today was focused on the song not the looks. And this is when talent was more important than looks.
Usually faceless music stars are like this, Gorillaz, Daft Punk, and Sia are all faceless bands/singers because they felt that way.
Daft Punk wore the helmets because they knew that would help sell themselves
They were back then forced to have that loook afaik. ^^ It was a different times back then. Either you wear what we tell you with this haircu or you wont get on air in TV.
video killed the radio star
actually the singer was pretty good looking
I recently bought the entire 1965 Pop Gear movie on DVD! It should arrive to my mailbox in a few days. This is just one of many fine miming performances on the movie. The movie gives a good feeling for what was already swinging London and the beginnings of mod culture.
Musica di 60 anni fa ma sempre piacevole ascoltarla OK bel pezzo .

Amazing how songs like this still remain popular after all these years, I wonder if present day music will still be played in 50 years time, I think not.
Jadi ingat waktu kuliah tahun 1984 sampai sekarang masih seneng lagu ini
