    Do you think you could ever try recreating scenes from It Follows? I think the lighting in that movie is insane. The cinematography was inspired by Gregory Crewdson’s photography and it has such a surreal, dream-like quality.

    Great job! For a specific scene I would want to see something Quentin tarantino. Inglorious or Django. Inglorious opening or 3 fingers bar scene, django dinner scene with Leo DiCaprio.

      Bro you're the best on here with this stuff! Aputure videos are cool but they are always using stuff (gear) we don't have and it kinda makes it inaccessible to the rest of us. I mean we put up with it because of the techniques, but you're the best one that has the best cinematography tutorials that are accessible, super straight to the point, and just straight up just look really fucking good, man!

    This is great. Really enjoyed the vid. I'd say the one thing you didn't quite nail is the Rembrandt lighting on your face. There's a LITTLE bit of spillover onto your cheek but it's not that triangle that we're seeing in Jesse's face. I think you could have boosted the black levels a bit as well. Overall, super informative and fun to watch. Thanks!

    Haze is the key here. Lowers contrast and lifts the blacks which feels more like a fill light for the shadows. The hard blacks feels too dramatic for a scene like this but the haze lifts it up. Having a bigger location would be great but then also the amount of light needed to fill a larger space is a whole new problem.

    i would use the white board for your face as well just to get the part in the shadow a tiiny bit brighter

    Dude, that is great!!! I just had a corporate client that wanted the Social Dilemma look, so did a 2 cam shoot with the Rokinon 85mm 1.4 wide open, it was a focus nightmare! I wonder if they had a liar focus motor to get that dof and be in focus when she is moving all around in that scene?

    Another great tutorial, thanks Brady! I have a question. What are the advantages of using a light panel over a regular Bowen mount point source? It seems less flexible to me and not as easy to modify the light and also in what situation would chose that over an Aputure 300 light? I believe it's standard type of light for TV interviews, documentary.

      Someone needs to post a version of the scene where it's Spenser & Brady addressing one another(horizontally flip one) and finishing each other's sentences. Only then will you know the friendship is REAL. End it by splicing in Jesse E. saying "Wait, is this real?"
