    As a big guy, my go to trick to deal with sweating is to wear under armor under my undershirt.
    It absorbs the sweat and keeps me cool.

    In my humble opinion, it is the larger men that can really pull off the "top shelf" look the easiest. Full on double breasted, contrast collar, french cuff, suspenders, collar bar, carnation in the lapel, kingpin look.

    • @RealMenRealStyle
      @RealMenRealStyle  8 років тому +4

      For sure!

    • @daisiedoll
      @daisiedoll 8 років тому +2

      +Real Men Real Style Really? Almost all of those elements are great but I steer my guy away from double breasted pieces. I've always been taught that single breasted is more slimming and indeed it sure looks that way. Personally, I find single breasted items more chic and youthful. The exception there being Kingpin himself; there's just no helping him.

    • @JamieHitt
      @JamieHitt 8 років тому +1

      daisiedoll I don't necessarily disagree at all. What I was trying to say is that sometimes the look can be pulled off successfully when the man's size is actually embraced and brought to the forefront of his style. At that point, go ahead and make the suit purple with a gold ring on each finger. It wont hurt anything. If you gotta comb it over, you might as well shave it and wax it. Lol.

    • @Lycosa
      @Lycosa 8 років тому

      Daisie and others, well, its kind of complicated. In other way, single button jacket suit is versatile more and kind of slimming. But double breasted, you're like=YEAH? I'm big, so what? Im THE BOSS! Double breasted suit is somewhat IN and unique right now for men. Chic. And it shows business look, cool look.

    Great advice, Antonio! I'm definitely a round body type ( in fact, I'm equal in circumference to a pickle barrel). I've found the proportions and stream-lining advice to be very true, especially the hat. A hat makes all the difference. Big guys look good in big hat. Full fedoras and I think big guys rock a Homburg hat better than anybody else. I cant praise the Homburg hat for big guys enough. It really gives you the sophisticated " Large and In Charge' look. Also of crucial importance to that stream-line look is the proper taper and fit of the pants. You not only need the the right length hem, but you want them taken in to taper down the leg in a nice fit that really defines the stream-lined look. You may have your jacket properly tailored, but if the pants are baggy you gonna look sloppy/slouchy and ruin the whole look! One thing I would recommend, and maybe you can add it to your videos on big guys, is WAISTCOATS. Waistcoats are a god-send for a big man. For one, they help achieve that monochromatic look and stream-line if they match or compliment the properly fitted, tapering pants, but free up the shirt for a bit more color and pattern to add some contrast. I recommend getting a longer length waistcoat that extends to just below the belt-line, as it evens up the belly and makes a nice line to the pants and thus draws away attention to your gut. I also recommend a pocket watch and chain as a nice vintage accessory that brings some character and style to the waistcoat.And yes on vertical strip-pattern shirts and suits. However, i have used check patterns in my complimentary patterns, but only sparingly. Hell, maybe I need my own Big Guy style page here. LOL. Thanks for the advice and keep it coming, Antonio!

    Thank you for addressing these basic, but important issues especially sweating. I am a big man and I live in Florida. I always wear a t-shirt under my dress shirt. Sometimes I get asked, why the t-shirt isn't it warm? Many guys don't realize that a good quality undergarment helps to wick away moisture and actually helps keep you cooler. Anyway, thanks for your great videos they have been a great help.

    RMRS,I'm a 41 year old dad, I work in a corporate setting and like to mingle. About a year ago I started to transform myself to come off as a more mature person. I wanted to be taken a bit more serious in life. I've learned so much through RMRS and a few other select men's fashion sites and vlogs. I can't thank you and the others enough/ However, this one particular video just topped everything! I'm 5'8" 245#, 40 in waist( heaviest I've ever been ) and recently discovered the box drop programs. I was a 38 inch waist for many years and people are often surprised because I don't come off this big I hide it well but they don't understand what it's like trying to fit clothes that aren't super long on me or I can't cross my arms in. I can not wait to check into Maximus box. On that note going there now. Thank you very much Jason N. RI

      I would love to be your size. . .I weigh 300 and wear a 52/32. I hate it when I am at a store and ask for the big and tall section and they show me what they have and it goes up to maybe a 40 waist and I'm like "You're kidding, right?" and they tell em no that this is big and tall and I say "Kind of Bigger than before and Tall you mean" I need "fat and Tall" and they tell me sorry this is as big as we go and our store doesn't tell us why. . .

    A problem with big and tall items is that if you're tall (I'm 6'9") and not heavier (250), it's still very annoying to find clothes that are comfortable.

    This is an extremely useful video! I've been watching your videos for a while and I've drastically improved my style. I'm a larger 23 year old student, and I look so much better than most people in my college. Even on a student budget, I've been able to find clothing that makes me look leaner and cleaner. That's all thanks to the videos that tell me what to look for. I hope you keep it up because I've started taking better care of myself because of what you do.

    Knowing your tailor is probably the best advice I would give anyone. I have a 19.5" neck and cannot buy dress shirts off the rack. For some reason, they think you must weigh 600lbs with a neck that big. the shirts are huge! So I have made many visits to my tailor for custom shirts. They don't cost much more than a good shirt off the rack and they fit you perfectly!

    In the office i am often one of the better dressed guys and i am the IT person one would think i am a highlevel excutive. Slacks button down shirts i have even adopted suspenders these last few months.

    I am a big guy. 6'0" 290lbs but I carry my weight well. I'm a lean staulky build and really the only weight I carry is in my stomach. I have tone legs and thighs and calves and I have normal sized arms because I've been athletic most of my life just let my lower back and mid section go to waste. I wear a 38" waist jean; 40-42" waist dress pants. But my neck is around 20.5" which again is not fat but thick. Well your tips and styles help a guy like me or am I bound for custom tailored clothes anytime I want to dress sharp

    Thanks for the good information! Just found your channel! As an ex-football player...offensive lineman....I sometimes have a hard time find clothing that will fit me...since I am 6'6" and 340 lbs. My main problem is finding dress pants and chino's that fit. I have had 9 operations on my left knee 9 ( from playing football ) and have to wear a rather substantial brace just to be able to walk safely. Straight front pants fit me much better, but they usually are too tight around the lower thigh and knee area, where my brace is located. The pleated pants really fit my leg better, but I hate how they look on me. I have tried buying pants 2 inches larger and having them tailored, but finding someone who can make the pants look nice has been really difficult. Any suggestions???

    You are like everyone else in that you are still dealing with men that are still kind of fit. I am 6 foot and weigh about 300 and wear a size 52/32. Where are the stuff for guys like me? Most stores go up to a 40 or 42 and call that Big and Tall. I need Fat and Tall. Can you do something for that? Just because we are bigger than most big and tall clothes that doesn't mean that we are slobs and like looking like crap. If I could I would wear suits and other nice dress clothes. I love to cook and I am an artist as well. But I am also on a fixed income and do not have thousands of dollars to waste on clothes that are maybe worth less than a hundred bucks.

    • @e39lwd
      @e39lwd 8 років тому

      Try to stay away from trends and keep it classic. Try not to overdress too much because that can make you stand out in a bad way. For example don't wear a suit and tie to class.
      When I was in high school pretty much all I wore were chinos and polos which were both fitted and I made sure to distinguish myself with accessories. I had a classic watch with a leather band which stood out because everyone else was wearing digital ones. The great thing with this outfit is that you can wear almost any shoes with it but try to keep them clean because that's one of the main things high school kids never do. I hope this helps, I'd love to go into more detail but then this comment will become a book.

    This is great!
    How about a place for tall and thin guys? I've noticed that shopping for big and tall is usually both, and not just one or the other.
    Case in point: I found a good looking polo for a great price at Macy's...good material, great fit at a large, but too short. They didn't have large tall at the store, so I ordered online, and what I got would have been perfect...if I were a hundred pounds heavier. Even more disappointing is that I seem to be a large in fit for regular size, but if I want the length, I need a medium tall for off-the-rack clothing...which is extremely rare. Macy's only had that polo in that size in white. No other color.
    What are my options?

Word of mouth is still King.. buddy I was quickly turned away from hooking up with Maximus.. great concept.. can you talk to them??

    Tall people should never have a problem with clothing and style since the whole world of fashion & style mainly create their clothing for the taller males. It's only us short guys that have difficulty finding clothing our size & length.

    Great video Antonio! Regarding the suspenders do you think it is possible to change the fastening method of suit pants by removing the belt loops and replacing them with some kind of adjusting mechanism in order to use suspenders with buttons inside pants? I think belt loops can be removed by a tailor but I don't want to completely loose the opportunity to adjust the width of pants thus the reason and need for adjusting mechanism.
    Thank you in advance if you find the time to respond.

    Would this be a right combination? Navy sports jacket, light blue shirt, dark tie, alabaster slacks

    • @KomradeKrusher
      @KomradeKrusher 4 роки тому

      Hard to go wrong with a navy sports coat and light blue shirt. Maybe alabaster is a bit too light and too much of a "statement", you might want to look into more like a sand- or khaki colored pair of pants, maybe even light- to mid-gray. and don't be afraid of a dash of colour for the tie. Something like burgundy complements this classic look very well, especially if you're keeping your coat buttoned.

    I paused the video midway and said, I don't really need this because I'm going to the gym and I'm gonna start being healthy and lose weight and not be considered as a "large" man anymore. Till I lose weight I'm gonna be only wearing my plain black T shirts. Thanks for the video, i appreciate it but I can't be considered as a large man anymore. I'm losing my fats. Cheers!

    Has anyone else noticed that all of the current suit designers seem to be designing suits for Pee Wee Herman? I went into Men's Wearhouse to rent a Tux for a friends wedding. Everything fitted well except the coat. When buttoned it felt like I was the Hulk in mid transformation. The clerk replied that the jacket was not supposed to be buttoned. That did not seem right to me. I have noticed that many of the new suits I have seen look a size too small on the models. No matter how ideal the model wearing the suit is, the pockets appear to bulge open. Is this the new status quo in mens retail?

    This is lame because you are still not using body types for the *LARGE* males. Yes you are using body types that are a bit bigger but still attractively big. Which is to say the larger fit males. I need to see something in my body style so I will know how it may look on my body. If I look at you and I am built like you that is fine but I am 6 foot and 300. I need to see guys that are the same body type. If I had access to lots of stylish clothes in my size I would start a website for guys my size but I do not have thousands of dollars to just go and buy anything I see that I like and do not have access to a taylor that works for virtually nothing. Also when you say *BIG AND TALL* do you mean *TALL AND FAT* or just husky and fit? I see shirts that are a 3xxx and when I try them on they are too skinny. Yes they are a 3xxx but for *TALLLLLLLLL* guys bot big around guys. . .And If I do find something big around it will be way too short. I wear a 52x32 pants and most of the time stores think that a guy that is a 52 waste will be a 29 short. I get it no one wants to be known as the *FAT* store but we want to look nice also. . .I love to cook and am good at it but do we also have to be punished just because we are a larger size than you guys are?

      My body type is similar to you height in weight but that's it. I am 6ft 290lbs I wear 2xl shirts or some XLT fits me or slim 2xlt and in the waist I'm a 38x30 most people honestly are shocked that I weigh 290 cause I look about 250 but my neck is my problem (aside from my belly)

      "I love to cook" is this supposed to be some excuse to being plus size? I don't understand why you felt the need to clarify that you "love to cook".

    I was appreciating the steps until the last one where an implication is made that bigger bodies are less masculine. That made me comment my displeasure. You speak about pushing against stereotypes but then confirm that one. It is disappointing.
    Love your work otherwise and am glad you are broadening the audience.
