I saw van helsing when it first came out and I was a teenager. I didn’t like it a whole lot but didn’t hate it. Years later my wife suggested we watch it together for Halloween a few years ago. Seeing her having fun watching it gave me a whole new appreciation for it.

I really enjoy it. It's almost three movies in one. The Jekell and Hyde beginning, the middle of protecting the village, and then the castle parts. I enjoy the beginning the most

Been waiting for this one! I love your vids and the roaster! Thank you! I have to say that I really like most of the outings here and already seen 28 out of 31 before watching the other 3 in preparation to this awesome tradition you guys brought to us. So thank you! here is my short ranking and I’ll leave a more elaborated list in my first comment .
Let’s start with the few I hate:
    31. Twilight.
    30. What We Do In The Shadows.
Now for the ones I don’t like.
    29. Teen Wolf.
    28. Ginger Snaps.
From here on, everything here is decent to me(some for guilty pleasure of course).
Now for less better ones that I still enjoyed.
    27. 30 days Of Night.
    26. Daybreakers.
    25. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
    24. Stake land.
Now for the ones I like(the fact that we still got so many to go shows how awesome this 31 on 31 is!!):
    23. American Wolf In Paris.
    22. Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
    21. Thirst.
    20. Blade Trinity.
    19. Let The Right One In.
    18. American Wolf In Loon.
    17. The Howling.
Now for the ones I really like(which again, is just crazy considering how many more I have left!).
    16. Fright Night(Remake).
    15. Underworld
    . 14. Dog Soldiers.
    13. Brotherhood Of The Wolf.
Now for the ones I really really really like
    12. Blade 2.
    11. Van Helsing.
    10. Fright Night 2.
    9. From Dusk Till Dawn.
    8. Renfield.
From here on out all the movies are in my top 50 horror movies of all time.
    7. Silver Bullet.
    6. Near Dark.
    5. John Carpenter’s Vampires.
    4. Interview With The Vampire.
    3. Blade.
Now for the two movies from this roaster that I’m in love with:
    2. Fright Night. I love this movie! It’s in my top 30 favourite movies and my fifth favourite horror movie overall! Jerry Dandrige is the best vampire characters and I really like the other characters as well.
    1. The Lost Boys. It’s my favourite horror movie and my seventh favourite movie of all times! I love all the characters! The two Corey’s are the standouts here!

Here I’ll be giving more reasons to why I ranked the movies as I did.
Let’s start with the few I hate:
      31. Twilight. I just hate what it did to genre. Don’t care for the plot or characters. 1.3/10 for me.
      30. What We Do In The Shadows. I like the idea but really don’t like the execution. I tried to give it a chance but it didn’t work out so… 1.6/10 for me!
Now for the ones I don’t like.
      29. Teen Wolf. Never liked the tone or the production. 2.5/10 for me.
      28. Ginger Snaps. I thought I’ll like it more, but it just isn’t for me. But I can at least see the appeal.3.2/10 for me.
From here on, everything here is decent to me(some for guilty pleasure of course). Now for less better ones that I still enjoyed.
      27. 30 days Of Night. I like almost everything here, except the look of the vampires, which is my least favourite maybe ever! 5.1/10 for me.
      26. Daybreakers. So cheesy, but I still like it! 5.2/10 for me.
      25. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. This movie is ridiculous, but I still like it. I didn’t liked Abe or the main Villain Adam but I think the rest of the characters are actually really good. 5.9/10 for me.
      24. Stake land. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31. I kinda liked it but I wish the production value was just a bit higher. 5.9/10 for me.
Now for the ones I like(the fact that we still got so many to go shows how awesome this 31 on 31 is!!):
      23. American Wolf In Paris. I have nostalgic memories of the first time I saw it, but upon recent rewatch I realised I just don’t like it as much as I used to. 6.1/10 for me.
      22. Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Out of all the movies here, this is the one the last rewatch has hurt the most. It’s way less interesting than I remembered. Dracula himself is great and Keanu’s ascent is comedy gold. 6.4/10 for me.
      21. Thirst. Really nice filmography there. I really liked most of it. 6.7/10 for me.
      20. Blade Trinity. I know some people hate it but it still really good compared to most modern comic book films. I also like the Deadpool prototype we get from Ryan Reynolds here. 6.7/10 for me.
      19. Let The Right One In. I like this movie but the language in this one made it rough for me as a non Swedish speaker. 6.7/10 for me.
      18. American Wolf In London. This movie is still great for me, but it hasn’t aged as well as some of the other films here, at least for me. 6.9/10 for me.
      17. The Howling. I like this movie. Very classic. Tough I don’t really like to rewatch it for some reason… still, great werewolf movie in my eyes! 6.9/10 for me.
Now for the ones I really like(which again, is just crazy considering how many more I have left!).
16.Fright Night(Remake). I really liked the first two acts but the last one not as much and Billy Cole was sorely missed… 7.4/10 for me.
      15. Underworld. I always really liked it! Way better than the sequels and it got Some style. But I never truly loved it like some people do. 7.6/10.
      14. Dog Soldiers. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31 and I really liked it! It’s awesome! One of the most underrated in this list. 7.7/10 for me.
      13. Brotherhood Of The Wolf. I always really liked this movie. The period, the style, the actors and tone are all great here! I know it’s not a traditional werewolf movie, but I don’t care! 7.8/10 for me.
Now for the ones I really really really like
      12. Blade 2. I used to really love that movie, but the effects and plot didn’t aged as good as the first one. I still think it’s an awesome movie! I also don’t like how they brought Whistler back just because… 8.2/10 for me.
      11. Van Helsing. I like everything about this movie, specially the cheesy parts. It’s very fun to watch and I love the action. I also find it hilarious how slick is that werewolf hair. 8.3/10 for me.
      10. Fright Night 2. I saw that sequel three years ago and really wished I’ve seen it sooner. Really liked it. Very cool! It’s a 8.3/10 for me.
      9. From Dusk Till Dawn. I really liked the beginning and side characters but don’t really like the ending. But it’s the one time I really liked George Clooney in anything… It’s a 8.4/10 for me.
      8. Renfield. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31 and I was shocked on how much I like it. I loved both Nicks in this one, but I wish the ending was less cheesy. Still a great movie for me. Still, my favourite movie of the year so far… 8.8/10 for me!
From here on out all the movies are in my top 50 horror movies of all time:
      7. Silver Bullet. RIP dear Corey Haim! I really loved this movie ever since I was a kid and it’s my favourite Werewolf movie. 9.1/10 for me.
      6. Near Dark. I always loved the tone of this movie. Great characters. 9.1/10 for me.
      5. John Carpenter’s Vampires. To me This is the most badass Vampire movie ever. The tone is really unique. I love James woods in it and love the Neo western vibes! 9.3/10 for me.
      4. Interview With The Vampire. I love that classic take on Vampires! I love the periodic feel to the movie! Tom Cruise is so amazing here! Also, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst. 9.4/10 for me.
      3. Blade. It’s my sixth favourite comic book movie of all time! Love the action, Blade himself and Deacon Frost are the best! whistler is great! It’s A 9.7/10 for me!
Now for the two movies from this roaster that I’m in love with:
      2. Fright Night. I love this movie! It’s in my top 30 favourite movies and my fifth favourite horror movie overall! Jerry Dandrige is the best vampire character and I also really like Peter Vincent, Charlie Brewster, Evil Ed, Amy and Billy Cole. The effect are so awesome and I love the 30’ meets 80’s vibe here! 10/10 for me!
      1. The Lost Boys. It’s my favourite horror movie and my seventh favourite movie of all times! I love all the characters! The two Corey’s are the standouts here but also David, Max, Grandpa and Michael are very memorable to me. I love the tone and unique style of the movie. 10/10 for me!

This was awesome. The Brian edits cracked me up. I love how everyone's lists are so different from each other, the debrief is gonna be fun. I totally agree on everything you said about Van Helsing, I have a lot of fun with that film, I feel the same way about Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. My favorite of the bunch is Fright Night remake, I just really love that film. Thank you Cody, this was fun.

About half of the 31 on 31 were first time watches for me for this list and a few of my favorites/ guilty pleasure horror films. An American werewolf in Paris is one of the first horror movies I saw, so I still love it.

Great list, very curious to see what the debrief will look like because there are some massive splits between you guys.
I was able to watch 13 of the 31 movie and most of them were great. The standouts being, the first two Blades, the two Fright Nights and the Lost Boys. My personal favourite is still What we do in the Shadows, but I have added some of the others to my favourites of all time. And thanks for mentioning Frigth Night 2 is on UA-cam! I really wanted to watch that since I enjoyed the other two so much. Curious to see how it holds up.

    Good ranking vid as always.
Most of my top 10 is missing (as expected) from this ranking, as I often prefer older stuff than you boys usually focus on (Hammer, Universal monster era stuff).
A select few of the films from this ranking might've made it into my top 15: American Werewolf in London (my favorite horror film ever), Daybreakers, Fright Night and Let the right one in.
Otherwise I'd include The Wolf Man as my second favorite of the lot, Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht and Brides of Dracula as number 3 and 4. I love a few other hammer goodies as well, like The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires, Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus. Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man is another underrated gem. The 1974 banger "Vampyres" would also get in my top 10.
I also forgive your somewhat low ranking for American Werewolf, as I'd do the same to your favorite, as I didn't really find The Lost Boys to be anything more than 'just ok'. I guess we just grew up with different classics!

Hi there! Just wanna say I am enjoying the list! There are a few that kinda shocked me such as Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps, but you also shocked me with An American Werewolf in Paris.
I saw both American Werewolf movies when I was a kid in the 90's and early 2000's. There was a channel that would air both during 31 days of Halloween (I believe it was the Sci-fi Channel) and My mom would watch all the movies they would air and of course. I would watch them with her. I got scared so bad. I could not go near sewer areas or grates. I could not go to parks that have massive empty fields. I could not go into subways, and I was so scared of An American Werewolf in Paris I thought there were eyes staring at me in my backyard when I was a kid. We had an addition to our house which had a sliding glass window which was normally open, and sometimes when I would have sleep overs we would spend the night out there. This movie scared me SO Bad I could not sleep out there, let alone go out there in the dark while my dad was on his computer. An American werewolf in paris released in 1997. I saw it when I was like.. 7-9 years old. I am now in my 30's and it's become a guilty pleasure of mine. I can sit through the movie, make fun of it but also just love it. And let's not get me started on An American Werewolf in London. Which is my favorite werewolf movie to this day.

Salems lot is good but it has not aged particularly well. It’s also just way too long, I get it’s a slow burn but it takes that way too far. It also doesn’t do the King novel justice at all, I liked it when I first saw it but after I read the novel I realised how much of a missed opportunity the movie is. I will say, however, that the vampire makeup and scenes (of which there are not nearly enough of), are very well done

The Howling didn't help either lol. I can watch Dog Soldiers now, and I have a couple times with my brothers. It's goofy by today's standards, but when I was 7 I was convinced that the photos in the newspaper at the end of the movie were real life pictures.

As a point of reference, I watched/rewatched and took notes on all 31 of these movies over the last two months. These are my updated thoughts on all 31 of these films
    31. An American Werewolf in Paris-An incredibly lame and tedious version of this story that doesn’t have any redeeming qualities in my eyes
    30. Van Helsing-As much as I love Hugh Jackman, this is a hollow, overblown, noisy film that doesn’t seem to have any idea of what makes a good monster movie
    29. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter- Even though this movie certainly looks interesting, the movie never knows what it’s trying to do with its characters, ideas, and concept
As another point of reference, I like and/or would go positive on the rest of these movies
    28. Blade: Trinity-This isn’t a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, but I still have a pretty decent time with the surface value entertainment that this movie delivers
    27. Twilight-Listen, I’ve never been the target audience for this movie, it’s not a movie that I ever gravitate to rewatch, and it has problems, but for what it’s trying to do, I think it does it fairly well
    26. Interview with the Vampire-While this is a movie that I enjoy well enough for its atmosphere and thrills, it’s also a movie that’s a bit too operatic for my personal taste
    25. Brotherhood of the Wolf-It was definitely a movie that I respected more than I fully enjoyed it, but I still found this one interesting for all of the elements and genres that it blended into this film
    24. Stake Land-This is the movie where I started to get a bit burnt out on watching all of these vampire and werewolf films, but I still thought that this was a pretty impressive film for what it was, especially because it had a budget of $625,000
    23. Underworld-Even though the already not great reputation of this movie was hurt by a bunch of the sequels, I’ve always liked this movie for its style, cast, and well done action from director Len Wiseman
    22. Renfield-While I didn’t enjoy this movie as much as I hoped I would, I definitely enjoyed this movie for its gore, its exploration on codependence, and of course, Nicolas Cage as Dracula
    21. Bram Stoker’s Dracula-I didn’t think that all of the philosophy, horror, adventure, romance, and operatic elements were fully blended as well as they could’ve been, but it was always engaging and I really enjoyed most of the performances
    20. Ginger Snaps-This isn’t really one that I would gravitate towards to rewatch, but it worked quite well for the coming of age werewolf story that it was trying to be
    19. Thirst-Because I didn’t really know what this movie was, I was pretty surprised by how relentlessly bleak and disturbing this movie was, but it was still intriguing and well done
    18. John Carpenter’s Vampires-It’s definitely superficial entertainment, but I’ve always had a good time watching James Woods hunt down vampires
    17. Silver Bullet-I wouldn’t say that this movie ages as well as a lot of the older movies on this list, but because there are a lot of very bad Stephen King adaptations, I thought this movie worked pretty well for what it was
    16. 30 Days of Night-A solid combination of a serious tone with gore and atmosphere that makes for an effective horror film
    15. Fright Night Part 2-This was a first time watch for me and I thought that while this movie didn’t fully capture the charm of the original, it was a solid sequel that stood on its own two feet
    14. Daybreakers-A very good vampire movie that has enough of a difference from other vampire films to be a satisfying experience for horror and vampire fans
    13. What We Do in the Shadows-I had never seen this movie before a week ago, but I quite enjoyed this movie for its satirical and subversive spin on vampires that respects what it’s poking fun at, unlike some other Taika Waititi projects
    12. The Howling-I don’t put this movie on as high of a shelf as a lot of horror fans, but it’s still a solid film that has a great werewolf transformation sequence and a plot that’s executed quite well
    11. Let the Right One In-A very thematically rich horror film that has a lot of interesting themes of parenthood, identity, loneliness, and attachment, which makes for a solid movie that has a lot to say
    10. Dog Soldiers-Much like a bunch of other movies on this list, this movie isn’t a perfectly crafted movie, but it provides plenty of action and horror that makes for a movie that’s definitely worth watching for genre fans
    9. Fright Night 2011-It’s nowhere near as classic as the original, but it has its own unique style, a well written script, and very good performances from David Tennant and especially Colin Farrell
    8. Teen Wolf-This is pretty much 100% nostalgia, but I’ve always really enjoyed this movie, even though it’s a generic coming of age story where the main character just happens to be a werewolf
    7. Near Dark-A rock solid vampire movie that takes vampires, western elements, and an Americana setting and mixes those in a very consistent horror film from Kathryn Bigelow
    6. From Dusk Till Dawn-I’ve always enjoyed the first half of this movie more than the second half, but the entire movie is still a highly enjoyable blend of crime drama and vampires that has Robert Rodriguez’s style and Quentin Tarantino’s dialogue
    5. An American Werewolf in London-When you put it all together, the werewolf transformation sequence is iconic, the movie is incredibly bleak, there are moments that are quite funny, and the tone is something different entirely, so this is a great horror movie that has a lot to offer
    4. Blade II-It’s nowhere near as massive in scale as the vast majority of comic book movies over the last fifteen years, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is great sequel that builds and expands upon the original in a great way
    3. Fright Night-A great blend of 80’s horror, 30’s & 40’s horror, and humor that works because it knows that it’s concept is silly, so it leans into that while not treating itself like it’s a joke
    2. Blade-Who knows if Blade’ll ever show up in the MCU, but what I know is that I’ll always be able to watch this awesome movie whether or not we ever see this character and world ever again
    1. The Lost Boys-A fantastic mix of teenage vampires, horror, humor, and plenty of visual style, which makes for a movie that’s so distinct in 80’s excess that it’s definitely my favorite out of these 31 movies

I've been a huge fan of vampires and werewolves, my favorite horror genres, since childhood; thus, I can't resist indulging in lists like these. As a child of the 80s, I wholeheartedly concur with the inclusion of classics like The Lost Boys, Silver Bullet, and Fright Night - I absolutely adore them. However, I firmly believe that Bram Stoker's Dracula stands unrivaled as the definitive vampire film of the 20th century! It's incredibly captivating with its haunting atmosphere, exquisite costume design, and remarkable star power. Although its intensity compels me to limit my viewings, the film's allure remains undiminished. The making of Bram Stoker's Dracula is also exceptionally fascinating. Highly recommended!
