Hey Daniel, is this project still available if I become a patron? I would really like to have some fun with this one! Thanks and I am happy to support your efforts as a fellow artist either way my brother. Thank you for everything you do.
I modulate the sample Start Parameter like this all the time. Whats also super fun is letting a random lfo Pick which sample is played and controlling the lfo depth with the fader. The more you push the fader to the right, the more randomness and variation you get
Thanks a lot for sharing this. As far as I get it, what wasen't straitforward clear in the elektronauts forum is that you need to put all samples on a single track. On a single track of 16 steps you can actually assign a different (sliced) sample to each trig/step.
this was hilariously pleasant to watch! I grinned the whole way through, this was just so very fun to watch. And well, not only did i learn the "how to", i also learned the "how not to", so that's really the full spectrum of "let me show you something". Thanks for that
I think that this is the only OT technique video that technically proves that of the set of infinite possible starting breaks (ℵ0), there is a cardinally larger infinite set of new breaks you can make (ℵ1).
That is a really cool technique. As a relatively new user to octatrack and someone who enjoys using break beats I’m really excited to try it. Thank you so much for doing this video !
Yo...just want you and everyone on here to know that “Coasting Toward Almost” is dope. I copped it, and I’m glad I did. His desk may be messy, but the album is certainly not! Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all!!💪🏾💯
You sir are as limitless as your Octatrack. I'm listening to your Coasting Towards Almost, super nice ambient, glitchy, instrumental loves songs (sorry... those are well intentioned labels; I really do like it, plays as an album, congrats on getting it out), and then I come across this... it's like apples and airplanes... different. I really like what you've done here, modulating a breakbeat pattern with the OctaFader... looks fun. I don't yet understand how you did it, but now I know I want to do it too. And you even shared the project and audio files, which is tantamount to a 'double dog dare', giving the much needed motivational kick in the pants. Excuse me while I cancel the rest of my weekend plans and try to reproduce this madness.
I've had the Octatrack for a month, and I'm amazed at what I can do with even a little knowledge. One thing that I'd like to learn, and forgive me because I'm not sure how to articulate this, is how TMD is achieving the glitches with what appears to be pushes of a green trig (best example is in the intro). How do I do that? Thanks for your help!
Glad you figured it out in the end - I remember when I came up with this trick and then quickly realised just how long it would take to actually trial it 😂🥳👍
You seem a bit on edge in bits of his video because of how it comes across. Hopefully I can put you at ease a bit. Dude, i believe youtube communities and personalities built up the force they have because it was possible to connect directly with the people doing it. While we've generally come to a place of pristine manicured content and production across youtube, this has come at the cost of being able to relate to it and in that sphere of shimmering dross you've always stood out to me as a dude doing what we do, mucking about, enjoying themselves and sharing that with the world. You're relatable, honest, genuine and fun to listen to - don't stress about the way you do this stuff; it's exactly that fact that makes it a good day when a new one of your videos pops up. Be chilled.
Still trying to figure this out. Is it basically chopping the breaks in quarter note and placing say the 2nd quarter of all breaks into one so you;re basically switching breaks with the fader?
Yo Messy Desk, quick question. I’ve got my breaks sliced up in ableton session view but when trying to drag and drop the vertically highlighted slices (eg., slice 1 of each break) onto their own audio track it by default drops them all onto separate tracks. Is there a way to drag and drop them so they land horizontally in sequence on the same track? Love u
Brilliant video man! Two questions would you just get a MK1 or save more cash and get the MKII? I live in the UK, would you still be able to give lessons with the time difference? Thanks!
Awesome video and love your way of explaining! Please just be aware that for some people the volume of the high pitched noise can be extremely problematic for some folks with auditory sensitivity disorder. I wanted to finish the video but was on edge for the rest of the time. Haha much love.
hey I totally forgot about this trick, I think there's some cool uses for it beyond jungle drums too I'll have to mess with this again (the part where you got it right that is)
I'm about to order my Octatrack so I'm watching a lot of tutorials. This is a dope technique despite most of it going over my head lol. So stoked to finally be able to sample in stereo (Digitakt blues)
I tried to get it work the whole sunday but have given up now. Also im curious of how you are supposed to use these breaks with other projects which are not in the bpm range of the breaks. Im producing techno so im usually betweend 124 and 134 bpm...
blank for.ms is a really talented artist who releases sample packs and great music. they have a youtube as well! here’s their instagram, tell them octadad sent you: instagram.com/blankfor.ms?
I swear I mean this totally constructively because I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and I do find some of them helpful. But sometimes you take 15 minutes to say something you could have said in 3. For example in this video you don’t get to the technique til almost minute 9. Frankly often it makes me leave your videos and move on to other tutorials and I want you to succeed so I hope you’ll take this well! Good luck.
You are brilliant man. Its funny, a few days ago one of the very best mathematicians in the world posted a video where he tries to solve a problem he's never seen before. He fails. He tries again in another video; finds an ugly solution. In a third video, he tries to improve his proof. Pushing past failure is the hallmark of genius. (In case you are curious, here's the first video: ua-cam.com/video/byjhpzEoXFs/v-deo.html; the audio level is very low unfortunately.)
Mate! Sorry, but you should make friends to talk them. i watched too many videos of you about ot on your UA-cam channel, but no any solid tricks. Just a guy needs to talk.

Love the video! Are the samples included in the project file? :)

Wow, this is honestly so good. I would never be able to understand how it's done but the result is so sick.
Amazing.

megabreak of doom + that blank_forms sample = instant skee mask! nice pairing:)

Cantor's Diagonal Breakbeat
@@unic0de-yvr I knew at least once person would get this and I am very grateful for it.
There are also a pretty neat and short step-by-step instructions on this in the manual under 17.2.2 LOOP REMIXING USING THE CROSSFADER
It just blew my mind, when he moved the crossfader and the breaks switched :DD Awesome stuff man, keep it up
that intro piece needs a proper release
Just so you know, I’ve been wrong for my whole life so it’s all good sir
That intro jam is good music.
That is a really cool technique. As a relatively new user to octatrack and someone who enjoys using break beats I’m really excited to try it. Thank you so much for doing this video !
Thanks so much for sharing this. I melted my brain, waited for it to re-solidify, and I successfully (think) I got it working!

Checking it out
Your channel just keeps getting better. Very cool and inspirational.
got real Dataline vibes from that intro jam
Oh wow that is sick! Thanks for showing us!
Such an awesome track!

Currently walking my dog while listening to your album on a sunny yet cold English morning. Does this technique have a name?

Found it - freeze delay.
I liked this video a few months ago.
I just unliked it so that I could re-experience the thrill of liking it all over again.
Glad you figured it out in the end - I remember when I came up with this trick and then quickly realised just how long it would take to actually trial it 😂🥳👍
Beautiful
Haha, I actually like the results from the "wrong" way of going about the trick a lot better than the intended way
Feels organic+unpredictable
Did you explain how you set the scenes? Coz I cant find it...thx for the video anyway

absolutely brilliant. thank you
Intro is sooooo good!
Cool I've heard this many times before but never knew how it was done...
This makes me want an octatrack but then that’s probably just a GAS problem
This technique is a brain melter, I was aware of it and want to try it. But I’ve been saying that for over a year. Thanks for the laughs.
Elektron should extend their operating system, so integrate this technique into the Octatrack, to make it less prep-intensive.
Still trying to figure this out. Is it basically chopping the breaks in quarter note and placing say the 2nd quarter of all breaks into one so you;re basically switching breaks with the fader?
dope intro song fr
That demo beat, How’d you process that beautiful pad
Tune!!
lovely shirt! I prefer them medium rare
Ahh breaks of death mode. U can take this to to the next level by adding effects to the ends of the breaks when prepping 😉

Where do I get all those drums ?!?
they’re available to my patrons, along with all my other mediocre sample packs lol

Check out the group orbital
this is amazing, I love it 😎
Even done wrong, it sounded great.

This Octa-junglist Technique sold me good sir you have earned a like, sub, an a ding ;)
Octatrack can only be beaten by Elektron's MK III
Id love to sit and watch this video, but im too busy listening to my physical copy of "coasting towards almost" sorry but not sorry
*flex*
isn't this the MEGABREAK trick?
Yep I came up with this on Elektronauts 8 years ago 🎉
blank forms? is that the site ? i cant find it
