- This video shows you how to test a dryer door switch that has 3 wires. This will help you in the troubleshooting process when you have a dryer that will not start when you press the start button.
The dryer door switch we are testing in this video has come off a Maytag Dryer.

Any ideas on why my maytag gas dryer hums when I try to start it, but it doesnt kick on? I just took the entire dryer apart and cleaned every bit of lint off from the inside of it. I even smell the motor after couple seconds when it doesnt turn on. Basically it will buzz until it gets overheated and then it wont make a sound again for a while. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

can you post a video how to instal new trigger on dryer? I got the same switch and bought the piece but been looking everywhere and cant find a video
I've checked the continuity and the door switch works, as well as the on switch on the console. However, it still is not turning on. Would the burned out door light be the source of the problem and all I have to do is replace the bulb? Thanks

howard johnson Check the motor switch or it could be the voltage to the dryer. Breaker going bad.
i couldn't get my wires off, so i had to take the switch apart itself. now i don't remember where the terminals should be within the switch itself! any help?
If you find a picture or anything of the inside wiring of the switch, let me know. I had the same issue.

Google your dryer model and see if a schematic come up .
I don't know what the beep means. Should I have a low ohm reading, a high ohm reading, or no ohm reading? That would've been nice to include.

My dryer is making noise and I need to run it with front panel and drum removed to see if the noise is coming from the blower wheel or drive motor. Therefore, how do I bypass the door switch (COM & NC or COM & NO)?
msrockinrobin40 com & NO that simulates the button being pressed. The NC will kick your light on.
You didn't tell us or show us what to put volt meter on. If we knew already then we would not need to watch this video because we would know all about it already.
Continuity is what u put it on. The one that makes a beep when you touch your ends together.
I agree, you learn almost nothing on how to do this, think when you make a video..... People cant read your mind!!

If you can't figure out how to uninstall a lid switch then hang it up and call this guy. To me, this video is basically helping you with the theory. I would just bypass the switch temporary to test. Great vid and thank you for your time!
