Thanks for this ... my right outer thigh feels like a constant chemical burn and when moving a certain way has a tissue splitting sensation. Will ask my wife to help with this test, but me thinks its time to see a professional.

Sooo if there is pain or takes away pain then what? Is it MP or not, you fail to mention what the test proves.

Is this safe to do after a hip replacement? My husband is 3 weeks, 3 days post op and would be in constant, extreme pain if it weren't for hydromorphone. The symptoms he describes sound exactly like meralgia paresthetica. He was seen 2 weeks and 1 day ago because of the extreme pain, they did an x-ray, and told him nothing is wrong and that he probably feels more pain than most people. Now they want him off hydromorphone because he "shouldn't need it," and refused to give him enough for the weekend, and said for him to come in on Monday. So I'm desperate to figure out what the problem is. He will go in to be seen, but I need to do my homework because nobody seems to want to investigate and help him.
